The thing is that the North Ireland Protocols AND the Good Friday Accords are indeed working and promoting stability in Ireland.

The problem is that the DUP (and the UK Brexiters) expected that the ending of the violence and inculcated hatred wouldn't change the political situation that favored them in the enclave the UK had cut out for itself in northern Ireland, and now that it has, are willing to be reckless and even risk restarting the cycle of violent oppression and violent response to oppression and economic collapse to retain their hold on power.

The announcement expected in parliament/common today of a bill to allow UK government to allegedly, quote provide powers to override parts of its Brexit treaty with the EU, will be devoid of any detail, time table, or text.

However it will represent an edict amounting to breach of international law
