Bad news for Trump sentencing day
Peter Neil
same old, tired, frivolous motions. deja vu all over again. sentencing is september 18.
blinds, doors, windows and walls are closing fast.
after his deranged rants this morning, and laughable emergency press conference he says he’s having, he’ll announce that google is conspiring to rig the elections.
watching this descent into madness, people can only shake their heads.
Strangerland
It’s interesting that the judge could have thrown it in procedural grounds - the filing was over a month after the deadline - but the judge decided to let it through and just it on its merits, giving a smack down in his denial of the application.
Strangerland
The smackdown Merchand gave for this frivolous application can be used as evidence to disbar Trump’s lawyers for frivolous applications of the law.
Peter Neil
i think he got a new lawyer for this one, so the balls and strikes count resets.
PTownsend
'rife with inaccuracies and unsubstantiated claims', what reasonable people have known about old Don and his GOP for years, only his hardest core followers listen to him and parrot what he says. The Trump/Vance inaccuracies regarding Tim Walz are the latest example, but all Trump/Vance and the GOP have remaining is nastiness and personal attacks along with claims they'll build concentration camps for the others. What is scary is the list of 'others' continues to grow, the GOP want one demographic to take even greater control. That demographic needs to learn the US has a Constitution, and the Constitution has provisions in it that allow the government to convict criminals, even wealthy elite establishment criminals like Trump. He did the crimes. Maybe the big tech billionaire bros along with some global despots might be able to send a few US Supreme Court justices and their wives enough money to get the Court to allow Trump to go back to a life of fraud without having to serve time. He has had his trials and regardless what some crackpot Internet influencers and podcast pundits trying to ffurther weaken the US and democracy say: the trials were fair, conducted according to the Constitution, maybe that's why the extreme right want the Constitution replaced.
Underworld
Such a ridiculous claim. Trump has been found guilty, get on with the sentencing...
dagon
The corrupt overseeing the corrupt. It is why we have a compromised Supreme Court and a two-tier justice system benefiting the wealthy and connected like Trump.
https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/3270977-ohio-politics-a-cesspool-of-gop-corruption-and-craziness/
Ah_so
Yet another frivolous claim.
Trump is also predictable, yet like his claims, totally frivolous.
He will lose this, like he will lose the election.
Norm
Totally agree. Can’t blame the lawyers though — they get paid by the billable hour, so any task means more dough.
I mean they hope they get paid.
theFu
Can't wait for sentencing. Hopefully, there is a few months of jail time, effective immediately. He is a UGE flight risk if there ever was one. He has a plane. Will be funny when Trump can't even vote in his own election. Florida law allows felons from other states to vote, unless they are in jail.
stormcrow
Love that mug shot photo Trump of him giving the camera the evil eye which he is so proud of.
What a poser! Keep it up, Donny Boy! After November, you'll finally be put out to pasture.
Bob Fosse
At least Jordan has something to do again, another cul-de-sac for him to run down. What a waste of space he is.
Strangerland
Yes you can. Lawyers are not allowed to file frivolous claims and lawsuits. They are under rules of ethics and breaches can result in being disbarred.
John
If at first you don’t succeed, FAIL, FAIL AGAIN! LOL
Its the Trump “way.”
Peter Neil
i'd be surprised at any jail time. i would say levied the hefty fine and some community service, which will drive trump nuts, since he has no sense of service to any community or the country - only himself.
it's not usually a good idea to keep telling lies about a judge who is going to sentence you.
Peter Neil
trump was supposed to give an academic and serious speech today on economics in north carolina.
he couldn’t help himself. he did his silly stand up comedy schtick instead. there no doubt, he’s lost his mind. rambling nonsense and lies.
bass4funk
Yeah, he should go for it, I wish he so would. Lol
Not going to happen.
John
It wasn’t a “rally” it was a “policy speech” because it didn’t have enough attendees to be a “rally” and that would have made Trump look “weak”, lol.
And to the rest of your point; yes, he made a fool of himself.
Just like his glitching mutual tongue-bath with Elon “will you be my daddy?” musk.
John
I for one can’t wait until his bogus suit against the DOJ gets to the deposition phase (it won’t) and Emperor Uber-waddle has to take the 5th another 4-500 times on camera.
bass4funk
ROFL! Go for it!
The New York prosecution of Trump was politics, not justice. That’s why we call it "lawfare." The prosecutors and judge are not concerned about whether convictions ultimately get thrown out on appeal. And it’s not like Merchan is actually going to put Trump in prison; it is virtually certain that Trump will get bail pending appeal, so Merchan can appear to impose a stiff incarceration sentence without any real incarceration — at least for now, and probably ever.
-Andrew McCarthy
National Review Institute
Bob Fosse
It’s a FOX news opinion piece. Why didn’t you link the whole thing? The title is interesting.
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/andrew-mccarthy-prepare-trump-sentenced-prison-september-18.amp
Strangerland
Very MAGA far-right extremist opinion.
Any links to anyone respectable and not a far-right extremist expressing this opinion that it's "lawfare"?
John
Um, you don’t say “Go for it” in a suit YOUR SIDE files, lol.
And indicted by a grand jury, tried in a court of law with due process and access to counsel (such as it was) and UNANIMOUSLY convicted by a jury of his peers.
That’s not “lawfare” regardless of what Mr. Nobody from goobers on line journal says.
That’s called “Justice”.
Yrral
Bass4,McCarthy is not the judge, Trump is already under NY criminal supervision, had to check in with his probation officer,he should order Trump psychological evaluation in the interest of Justice
Yrral
Bass4,if politics were involved,it would have to be a conspiracy at the highest order, only lawyers shown they are willing to get disbarred are Trump lawyers, you are just delusional
bass4funk
From the prosecutor who sentenced the blind sheik in the 1993 WTC bombing and notably criticized Obama for wanting to try terrorists in civilian courts.
So yeah, I'll take his word given what he's contributed to our nation.
I believe in getting to the point, not really a patient person.
ulysses
What kind of world do we live in where a rich criminal cannot commit a crime???? I empathize with donald, he was made to believe the rich don’t have to face consequences and now suddenly he is facing prison!!!!
I demand clarence thomas to be appointed as the judge in this case, now that is a man whose lack of a moral fiber is a constant!!!
Bob Fosse
Great. In the article, well the article title for impatient types, he says that 45 is likely to get sentenced to prison. You know, that thing you keep saying will never happen.
Strangerland
And now a MAGA far right extremist.
Giuliani pt 2.
Underworld
bass4funk
It’s a FOX news opinion piece.
The same guy that thinks Trump should go to jail for the documents case? Luckily for Trump, the judge is corrupt on that case...
bass4funk
Well, there you go.
This judge seems to be on his way.
Neither was Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg, or Jack Smith and yet, you libs were droning on how we need to pay attention and to take their word as prosecutors, so not different from what I'm doing.
Again, the man is not going to prison. Merchan knoew it, anyone with a bit of sense knows this.
Strangerland
He is going to jail.
bass4funk
Not really.
McCarthy never said that "he himself" thinks that Trump should go to jail, he saidm the Smith case is a more serious case for him.
Bob Fosse
Another Andrew McCarthy quote for you Bass, since you “take his word”:
"I do think the president has committed an impeachable offense, making a reckless speech that incited a throng on the mall, which foreseeably included an insurrectionist mob."
John
I’m sure these were just careless oversights and not part of a larger bad-faith argument (snicker giggle)…
bass4funk
That was in 2020 and he changed a lot since then, a lot of people have now looking back in hindsight, again, nice try. Lol
bass4funk
No, no, not at all.
Bob Fosse
Have you read it? Yes, really.
McCarthy also supported 45’s impeachment. First own goal of the day but it’s still early.
Bob Fosse
Then why are you using the 1993 bombing or his opposition to Obama as evidence of his character?
2020 was far more recent.
ulysses
The right to dally with a pornstar when one’s wife is pregnant should be enshrined in our constitution, it is totally unfair to target donald for something very MAGA would do!!!
What kind of society we live in where men cannot fumble with a pornstar without any consequences!!!
bass4funk
Like I said, a lot has changed. Ted Cruz and Trump were bitter enemies during the 2016 debate, very nasty and now they are like two Siamese Twins, the same goes for Vance and many others, we know and see a lot of things that just didn't add up back then, and now looking back have a very different outlook since that dreadful day on J6
bass4funk
Because I can?
Yes, and 2024 is more recent.
PTownsend
Trump interpreters what did Trump say about people that plead the Fifth? Hmm LOL womp womp.
ulysses
Yesterday donald praised Mark Robinson, a man who has said he wants to go back to an America where women can’t vote.
donald has the right idea of what a woman’s place in our society should be!!!
Bob Fosse
I like people with a spine, integrity and a tendency for not selling out their principles for money and power.
But you do you.
Bob Fosse
Yesterday was recent. Yesterday Andrew McCarthy claimed 45 will likely get a prison sentence.
Do you “take his word”?
John
Merchant isn’t getting kicked off the case.
His Z-list lawyers are going to fail in their appeals.
Trump is going to face sentencing for felony convictions unanimously reached.
And Americans are going to be reminded that he’s a convicted felon in addition to being an adjudicated rapist and fraud.
Golly, no wonder his goobers are screaming about it.

Let Trumps' self-owns continue!

Wow, what huge news! Who would have thought - Trump losing in court! ROFL...
This Loser couldn't protest a parking ticket and win...
He has two problems that always manifest themselves as soon as he walks into a courtroom;
First, he hires quack, third-rate lawyers who are so hard up they take his case even though they know he's guilty and likely won't pay them...
Second, he doesn't even listen to his lawyers and runs his mouth which just helps the prosecutors prove their case...
Trump deserves a Gold Medal for most losses in court...
"Rife with inaccuracies and unsubstantiated claims"? That would describe any Trump interview and rally speech...especially now that he's completely melting down with Harris as his opponent...
How's this for self-imploding - he says the thousands that welcomed Harris in Michigan were "AI inserted"....
When this moron walks out of a building and waves to a nonexistent crowd...
https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-waving-video-nobody-1914619
The best, least humiliating thing for Trump is for him to get his jail sentence on Sep 18th, and this daily parade of gaffes, brain glitches, and crazed conspiracy theories can end...
bass4funk
Again, go for it.
Doubt it and Merchan can stay right where he wants to.
But not going to prison, so that much is assured.
I think Dems will have another conniption moment for sure.
Seems like liberals are the ones that are screaming for blood. Calm down, John. Lol
chotto_2
Unfortunately, although his cultists might be, Trump is not stupid. He's setting up the narrative for a 'stolen election' that his mouth breathing knuckle-dragging followers will lap up.
Anyone who does anything against the interests of Trump is biased, lying and Deep State, MSM.
Just as an aside, if anyone mentions MSM in a conversation woth you, you should smile and back slowly out of the room.
bass4funk
The prosecutors and judge are not concerned about whether convictions ultimately get thrown out on appeal. And it’s not like Merchan is actually going to put Trump in prison;
Nope.
lincolnman
Thank you! That's a great summary that MAGA-world is nothing but "FLIPPETY-FLOPPETY"...
I'd just add the FLIP on "life begins at conception" to "I'm Ok with babies being killed until the 15th week"....
And "EVs are a hoax and will bring down the US auto industry" to "I like EVs"....
And once more, when are you going to trade your F150 for a Cybertruck like the one Trump has?

history and historians will call this the trump insanity era.
a narcissist who studies the speeches of hitler, repeats the big lies over and over, batpoop crazy maniac with a cult following.
the jim jones of this century.

Yeoman's work trying to pry some logic from MAGA argument.
But they are the epitome of Gish Gallop:
a rhetorical technique in which a person in a debate attempts to overwhelm an opponent by abandoning formal debating principles, providing an excessive number of arguments with no regard for the accuracy or strength of those arguments
You see this weaponized babble with Trump, his MAGA pundit grifters and Fox hosts and his supporters here.
It is a fountain of logical fallacy and error.
lincolnman
Just when you think the news for MAGA-world can’t get any worse - we find out JD Vance promoted the hiring of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS…
"JD Vance was a board member of AppHarvest, which before collapsing under the weight of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of debt, was touted as the herald of a new, tech-savvy era of farming in Eastern Kentucky. Last year, the firm filed for bankruptcy after years of pursuing aggressive growth, in part by prioritizing migrant workers from Central America despite early pledges of employment opportunities for impoverished local communities.”
https://www.yahoo.com/news/jd-vance-jobs-hillbillies-start-154731992.html
So Trump hired illegal maids, cooks, grounds-keepers, etc., at MAL, Bedminster, and Trump Tower…
Now we find out JD Vance’s promoted illegal labor in Kentucky while on the board of this company…
Trump/Vance 2024 - We bankrupt companies and help Illegals get jobs!
Hey MAGA-friends, need any more proof you're getting played for a sucker?
bass4funk
Or lib madness
As opposed to a narcissist over-inflating their resume about going to law school, telling stories that gay and black people in the 1950s in Deleware were accepted and that you can racially relate or have blood of every ethnic group?
Then that means Kamala is mentally unstable then
Yrral
Trump delusional,he say with the swipe of a pin ,he will bring prices down, nothing the government can do about food prices, unless they are laws restrictions on higher charges
bass4funk
Well, you just described your average liberal, and for once I give you a standing ovation on that crtical observation, bravo Dagon!!
But it was all the truth, that fact had been established.
And yet, the left continues to ride the wild wind.
dagon
The only 'truth' that has been established about Fox is..
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/fox-news-to-pay-787m-settlement-to-dominion-voting-systems-over-stolen-election-lies
I suspect a similar reckoning is coming for Trump if he cannot create enough election fraud to capture the presidency.
lincolnman
And the embarrassing and humiliating admissions and walk-backs continue...
"Donald Trump was forced to backtrack from an easily disproven lie on Wednesday.
For the last few days, the former president has been falsely claiming that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harrisused artificial intelligence at last week’s rallynear Detroit to make it look like she drew massive crowds. On Sunday, he took to Truth Social to declare the vice president “a CHEATER,” who “had NOBODY waiting, and the ‘crowd’ looked like 10,000 people!” Trump’s accusation was ― spoiler alert ― completely bogus, which the Harris campaign proved in a post on X showing “a 15,000-person crowd for Harris-Walz in Michigan,” numbers that aligned with local news reports.
One reporter directly challenged Trump about his claim on Wednesday, right after he cast his primary ballot in West Palm Beach, Florida. She asked Trump, “You said Harris’ crowd sizes were AI and that there weren’t people there. There’s all kinds of video evidence from people who were there who have proven that false. Can you tell us about why you made that claim?”
Well, I can’t say “what was there, who was there,” Trump admitted.
Pure MAGA-meltdown...
stormcrow
Trump should beg the court for mercy in the basis that he’s too old and has a feeble mind.

I am relieved that donald has gym on his side. After all gym has a stellar reputation for standing up for the weak, there are people at OSU who will swear to that!!!

I’m guessing he makes that and other outlandish claims for his audience, many of whom do not seem to question the veracity of anything he says, and not for anyone outside of his audience.

That's it??? Here is another truth...
Nielsen live plus same-day data for the week of August 5 saw FNC average 2.394 million total viewers and 301,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted A25-54 demo during primetime. The network saw respective gains of +6% and +10% in those measured categories compared to the week prior. In total day, Fox News averaged 1.467 million total viewers and 965,000 demo viewers for week-to-week gains of +2% in both categories.
How? Like you said, the Dems are more Savvy in that department, I guess Trump needs more rallies.
bass4funk
Naw, he should just laugh in his face.
Christopher
As usual those on left way over there are salivating at the mouth like a Saint Bernard in this summer heat for DJT to be locked away. Well hate to break it the left. At best fines maybe probation at best as first offender. He will never see the imprisonment. Grab your box of Kleenex now.
lincolnman
Wow, you sure like Fox....unlike this guy....
"Donald Trump slammed Fox News on Tuesday for inviting Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz onto their program, where he said the Republican Party was “stuck with Donald Trump. Why did Fox News put up Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, where I am leading? They make me fight battles that I shouldn’t have to fight!” the former president wrote in a post on Truth Social."
“FoxNews will put up Fake Confidential Democrat Polls that were ‘leaked’ to them, but not Rasmussen or any of the REAL polling groups that have me way ahead,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website. “What’s up with FOX? I do better with CNN!!!”
“Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them, with the weak and ineffective RINO, Paul Ryan, on its Board of Directors,” the presumed GOP nominee for president wrote, using the acronym for “Republican in name only.”
Trump is really slamming your favorite entertainment channel - why is Trump lying about Fox?
Bob Fosse
45 is getting ready for defeat. He knows he’s done.
Will there be civil unrest? Yeah probably a little bit but after seeing the mass incarceration of those involved in Jan 6th his fans will be far more timid next time.
His balloon is punctured, we just have to listen to the slow release of gas as he fades away with a whimper.
Some dude
So, what excuses are being rolled out today?
1) The judge was bent / appointed by a Trump-hater
2) Trump is playing 5 dimensional chess by intentionally losing this argument
3) Tim Walz! Tim Walz! Tim Walz!
4) Hillary Clinton! Hillary Clinton! Hillary Clinton!
bass4funk
Not even close.
https://youtu.be/l6bj2Data6c?si=9XzFPOXicxKOuStm
No, pretty much spot on.
When he wins, we could see civil unrest like we did in 2020 and that would be a living nightmare.
Yeah, I think the stuff that the left is inhaling is just too, too good. ROFL!
Coulda been
Prisoners would all be pleading for mercy if they had Trump the Chump as a cellmate.

Want to see a prime example of MAGA weakness and betrayal?
"Donald Trump still doesn’t have an answer on how he’ll vote on an abortion measure in his home state. And it’s about to become a lot harder for him to avoid it."
"Four months ago, Trump announced he favored leaving the issue of abortion to the states. Now, state-level referendums on the lightning-rod issue are making ballots across the country — including, on Monday, in the battleground state of Arizona, and on Tuesday in Missouri."
"And in Florida, where Trump is a registered voter, the former president has yet to say how he’ll cast his own vote on the measure known as Amendment 4, which would abolish the state’s newly-enacted ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy."
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/14/florida-referendum-trump-abortion-00173957
So, how do all our "pro-life, life begins at conception - never surrender" MAGA evangelicals feel about this?
Trump won't say whether he'd support DeSantis' very strong pro-life bill that bans abortion after the 6th week...
It must be because Trump has said he could support "killing babies" until the 15th week...
Aren't our MAGA-friends here outraged that Trump can't even commit to your core value of "protecting the unborn"?
Bob Fosse
lol thanks for the CNN link Bass. The part where they were ridiculing his slurred speech was hilarious.

Why do you think the riots in May 2020 had anything to do with 45’s election many months previously?
Weird.
John
Yeah, because that goes so well for convicted criminals in a sentencing hearing…
John
Nope. The government is ready and the still free goobers see what happened to the goobers that got convicted.
They’ll moan and whine and the crack open another can of old Milwaukee’s best.
Jimizo
She’s not a great debater.
Trump is a thundering ignoramus in obvious mental decline.
Can’t imagine it will be the best debate in terms of quality.

Well, as typical, nothing but silence...
Another question;
Reagan gracefully accepting his defeat in the 1976 Repub presidential primary, when President stood up to the Soviet Union and significantly strengthened ties with our NATO allies, had Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld in his administration, and promoted US global leadership around the world...
Is Reagan a hated RINO NEOCON Globalist?
bass4funk
Yup.
Rhetorical question?
Odd....
