Thank you Abraham Lincoln for ending slavery. He was incredibly brave and lost his life standing up for what he believed in.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

I would think he’d be even more depressed (but not surprised) by today’s Democrat party which would make old Dixiecrats smile.

Oh look, it's the tired "the democrats are the real racists!" trope that absolutely nobody sane or in possession of a functioning brain takes seriously.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

How sad that a wonderful holiday comemorating an important even in history is belittled by so many who claim racism is over.

The irony could feed steel mills.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

They are, it was Lincoln and his party and the man himself that paid the ultimate price to free the slaves, which is why he’s one of my favorite and most respected President.

If Lincoln saw what his party has now become, he would turn into a vengeful ghost and actually murder every member of the modern GOP, Ju-on style.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Then soon after, the Left creates the Jim Crow Laws which lasted 100 years.

I must have missed the history class where Karl Marx living in London was the architect of Jim Crow in the Reconstruction South , and not legislators who dressed n Klan robes at night.

The right infosphere produces this kind of disinformation they when they are banned:Shock, Horror!

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Dr. King evolved after his Civil Rights victories, questioning capitalism and supporting a UBI.

Isn't this the real reason he was murdered? Because he wanted economic equality and an end to economic corruption within the US? On the day he was killed he was in Memphis protesting with street cleaners and dustbinmen for equal wages, as far as I remember.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, two months after the Confederacy had surrendered

Indeed, the *Confederacy surrendered***, they had to surrender because they LOST. Only losers** today wave Confederate flags and Nazi flags (see insurrectionists at the Jan 6th failed attempt to steal the election for Trump. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/08/man-who-carried-confederate-flag-to-capitol-during-riot-indicted-.html

That the far right want to continue to glorify losers says a lot about the far right who continue to show their disdain for the US,

yet they somehow claim they are patriots.

There will be those who will continue to deny that racism exists in America,

That is Sad but true. Those denying racism still exists in the US make weak arguments, one I have read on this site is Obama getting elected shows there is no more racism. (Yest many of those people who say still also use the nameObama to conjure up an image of a bad person .

The people who deny racism still exists tend to be those following and cheering on far right extremist politicians like Trump, who spent his brief time in office trying to further divide the long-splintered US along race, religion and class lines.

It is not surprising to read that Russia, Iran, Turkey and China have used their respective social media warriors to try to fan flames in the US. Authoritarian regimes know that by dividing a people, it's easier to control them.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

Letting a new national holiday stop you from saving lives, idiocracy.

You could make the same ridiculous argument every time a surgeon takes a day off. It would still be a ridiculous argument.

YouTube even removed a congressional hearing on CSPAN. Is this not slavery?

No. No it isn’t. This is something I’d expect MTG to say before having to make a public apology again. Very disappointing to see it here.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Still have a long ways to go. A new Voting Rights Act would go a long way, since the Supreme Court gutted the old one which is, coincidently, when the GOP started closing polling places, reducing registration windows, and reduced voting times that disproportionately hurt black people.

Instead of reparations I'd rather see more federal backed loans for housing with $0 down since so many minorities were locked out of the real estate market in the past. Older whites got to pass down a fully paid for house to their kids, an asset worth sometimes hundreds of thousands, while minorities couldn't. That loss of wealth creation was devastating and takes generations to make up for.

The dog whistles continue to this day . Thug = the N word, Democrat run cities = black cities, Welfare Queen = Black woman, etc.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Bass: And if they can’t afford the mortgage, who’s going to pay it?

Federally backed mortgage.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

bass: That’s not true, if it were, the Dems would want to debate it, but they don’t and they won’t

OK. Then you tell me why Republicans are closing voting polls on Sundays and banning carpools to the polls. And be sure to make up a reason that not only makes sense, but is so legitimate and necessary that it justifies the side effect of disproportionately hurting blacks.

basically saying that black people cannot coordinate the proper time and or be responsible to get to the polls on time or the day of voting without the help of whites

These are events organized and carried out by blacks for blacks. You're reached the end of the line here in terms of knowledge and responses here.

Anyway, gotta run. Thanks for chatting.

Ironic that America under GOP fought for Emancipation and today the same GOP is fighting to take rights away from the descendants of the emancipated!!!!

7 ( +9 / -2 )

bass: not taken away by non-citizens or dead people or double voting.

Closing polling places early, reducing ballot drop-off boxes, reducing registration windows, etc., do not impact security. It just reduces access, and it's especially more acute in large, densely populated cities, which is also where more minorities live.

Like I said before, you already won the voter ID battle. Now you're just straight up restricting access to voting itself, even with ID in hand. And there's nothing you can do to justify measures like that unless you just flat out support restricting access to registration and voting places.

The same posters who posters who claim there is no racism in America are the same ones who didn’t know a thing about Juneteenth, were convinced that George Floyd was responsible for his own death and that there was nothing racist about the Charlottesville rally.

If only for our eyes and the facts ......

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, two months after the Confederacy had surrendered. It was about 2 1/2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in Southern states.

The prevalence of Confederate flags among the Trump supporting January 6th Capitol rioters is a direct refutation of the conservative argument that questions about racial fairness are no longer relevant.

Dr. King evolved after his Civil Rights victories, questioning capitalism and supporting a UBI.

It is time we lived up to the promise. Juneteeenth was just the beginning.

"Two independence days. One was gained by white settlers fighting and dying for it. The second was given by white men who fought and died to end slavery. The black community would do well to remember this fact."

Black men AND women fought and died to free themselves, well before 1861. There were Black men who fought during that war, newly freed, who fought and died for it. Black men AND women escaped and helped other enslaved escape their bonds. White people would do well to learn about those facts, if they are capable of doing so and do not fear the truth.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Let us all commemorate Juneteenth, an important date in American history. There will be those who will continue to deny that racism exists in America, and will look to discredit this important honor.

Paid holiday, or time-and-a-half for workers

What's not to like

4 ( +7 / -3 )

I like holidays. My family has been celebrating on June 19th for over 50 yrs. About time the world caught up. I started taking the day off from work back in the early 1990s. Most businesses won't give people the day off - only banks and federal workers will honor this new holiday. I don't see the furniture store down the street closing for it or most office workers.

I have a little concern for national productivity as each new holiday happens. A less relevant holiday should be removed - perhaps labor day or Columbus day or President's Day? Keeping the total number of holidays where workers don't show up to work would be smarter.

In some smaller companies that I worked, we were provided 10 holidays to take as we wished each year. This was because the company owners were Israeli and recognized that people of different religions would have expectations of different days off. Jews would take different holidays than Christians and Muslims. Nobody was hassled over taking a different day off based on the norms for their culture. Some people would work all the normal holidays and not use any vacation days so they could have a longer trip home to spend 20-ish days with their families. It was an individual choice.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

didn't happen until 1869, not 1965. Also, why were people celebrating it in Toronto, which was part of Upper Canada which was one of the very first places in the world to pass an anti-slavery law; in 1793! Canadians should watch less CNN and learn their own history.

This is due to as you would expect the influence from the USA as with everything wrong in Canada often is.

Until recently August 1st was the day in Canada know as Caribbean day which marks August 1st as the emancipation day throughout the British Empire in 1833.

Unfortunately with less than 3% of Canadians that are black compared to over 15% in the USA money and numbers push agendas not unlike the far right and gun rights movements in Canada mostly finance and pushed by groups in from the USA.

If the USA would keep their problems at home most of the world would very much appreciate it.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Black men AND women fought and died to free themselves, well before 1861. There were Black men who fought during that war, newly freed, who fought and died for it.

All true but what many don't know was why the Union was so reluctant to use black soldiers.

It was because the Confederate soldiers were told not to take any black union soldier prisoner and if captured all black union soldiers would be shot!

And this was the fate of the few Black union army units that did go into battle.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Juneteenth. Great. Advancing, at least, a modicum of awareness. Symbolic. Hard work lies ahead. As always. "Two steps forward. One step back." Frederick Douglass

However. The Civil War officially ended in 1866. It did not end with Lee's surrender, that was the Army of Northern Virginia. That was a surrender agreement. The fighting continued. A battle won by the Confederates took place in Texas, after Lee's surrender. Interestingly, that battle near Brownsville involved a company of Union, Black American soldiers.

The Emancipation Proclamation, which took effect, January 1, 1863, preceded the end of the Civil War.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The second was given by white men who fought and died to end slavery. The black community would do well to remember this fact.

Why would they "do well" to remember this? You mean that they should be grateful?

And presumably even more white men died fighting to retain slavery. And many black people today live among the descendants of those people who fought to retain slavery. They would do well to remember this fact.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

I am confused. The last slaves of African descent that were freed in the US didn't happen until 1869, not 1965. Also, why were people celebrating it in Toronto, which was part of Upper Canada which was one of the very first places in the world to pass an anti-slavery law; in 1793! Canadians should watch less CNN and learn their own history.

As for Lincoln, he never promised to end slavery where it was but only to prevent its spread. No one was willing to fight to free the slaves at that time but even restricting it to where it was, was too much for the slave power and that is the reason they bolted from the Union when he was elected.

The South fought for slavery and the North for the Union.

Lincoln was always against slavery but only when the killing became so great that a higher reason had to be given for the war, did Lincoln have the political capital to issue the Emancipation Proclamation.

Lincoln was hardly what we in 2021 would call a liberal minded person but in 1860 he was certainly radical by their standards.

His talk was typical of the times but we need to stop thinking of great characters in history as flawless and recognize their achievement in spite of their flaws.

In the end, Lincoln saved the Union and destroyed the slave system.

The EP was issued consistent with Section 9 of the Second Confiscation Act enacted July 17, 1862. This section effectively ended slavery throughout the U.S. While borders states and certain areas of the Confederacy were excluded from the Act and the EP the vast majority of slaves resided in the areas covered. Areas exempt were exempt because the 2nd CA and the EP were issued under the doctrine of military necessity. Since the Constitution recognizes the laws of war military necessity gave Lincoln and the congress the work around they needed to get around the assumption that the Constitution left slavery to the states.

Happy Juneteenth! America has come a long way and still has more work to do but it's an honor to be called an American. God Bless the U.S.A.!!

Two independence days. One was gained by white settlers fighting and dying for it. The second was given by white men who fought and died to end slavery. The black community would do well to remember this fact.

In Galveston, the birthplace of the holiday, celebrations included the dedication of a 5,000-square-foot mural titled “Absolute Equality.”

There is no such thing as "equality".

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Given the amount of push African American History month is given, I'm a bit surprised that Juneteenth kept falling through the cracks until now.

As for reparations; there is now a method for states to fund it at their level. Knowing that there will be sales attached to the holiday, states that wanted to could declare that any sales taxes collected 5 days before and 5 days after the holiday be directed into funds specifically designed to help generationally disadvantaged population groups.

From a private business level, a could announce they would match a portion of any sales taxes collected within the same time frame and donate towards organizations deemed working to help generationally disadvantaged populations.

I must have missed the history class where Karl Marx living in London was the architect of Jim Crow in the Reconstruction South , and not legislators who dressed n Klan robes at night.

eh? What does Karl Marx have to do with anything? The Jim Crow laws and thr Klan were founded by Democrats whether you slept in history class or not.

And what do Democrats in the 1870's post Civil war South, former Confederates, have anything to do with the Left? What "leftist" policies were they promulgating? Did the "left" as you characterize even exist then?

But please, carry on with the disinformation screed.

Federal compensation for slavery is coming.

And why not?

Look to the North!

Canada as an independent country never had slavery that ended 1833 along with the rest of great Britain.

It did have a tiny number at the time, today Canada has less than 3% black most immigrants long after Canada became a country.

But it has some sad racist legacies and moved to correct them and is still doing so today, Canada apologised and paid reparations to Chinese Canadians for the Chinese head tax, to those put in interment camps during WW2, it is now trying to come to grips with the long ignored treatment of the people of the first Nations and the long sad legacy of things like Residential Schools and Canadians know more apologies and eventually reparations will be needed.

This is how a civilised country takes responsibility for the injustices of the past and present!

0 ( +4 / -4 )

@The Avenger Reserves were also exempt and kept thousands of slaves until 1869 when the US government threatened to take ALL their land unless they freed their African slaves.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@Antiquesaving The US is already paying repatriations through the backdoor via Biden's money for Black farmers. Don't expect anymore.

Canada is hardly civilized. Most voters in the GTA have probably never met an Indigenous person and had a nice chat ever, in their lives. When a politician promises clean drinking water on the reserves in Western Canada, it sounds good to urban voters but the promise is never delivered and voters don't care, they just want to feel virtuous. Royalties from oil and gas go into a federal agency called Indian Oil and Gas Canada, controlled by the bureaucrats in Ottawa and it takes 10 years for those royalties to be paid out the the First Nation that owns them.

The members of First Nations that I know want freedom from the bureaucrats in Ottawa. They want to speak their own language, encourage their own culture, they want to run their own social system, start their own businesses and profit from their own resources, and more than anything, they want to run their own schools and send their kids to university with an iphone in their pocket.

They would also like a lot of SJW's to keep their noses out. SJW's are blocking development that FNs need to bring in some money and in Alberta SJWs' brought in "special" Indigenous education into the schools 7 years ago. The result is that by teaching "different ways of knowing" instead of hiring more tutors to help with math and science, the marks of FN students have declined and the gap between them and other students has widened.

Ottawa has not increased funding for post-secondary education for First Nations in a generation.

If a FN gets, $50,000 a year, that went a long way in 1970 when 2 youth managed to make it into a post secondary institution. It doesn't go very far in 2021 when 6 youths need it.

Thankfully voter ID isn’t racist anymore. recent change to try to get Manchin’s vote.

ao now everyone can identify themselves prior to voting and magically Black people have ID again!

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

So much here. Where to begin?

Indeed, the *Confederacy surrendered****,*** they had to surrender because they LOST. **

Lee didn’t have to surrender, but he did to spare his nearly surrounded and exhausted men. Moreover he wanted to prevent weeks or months of pointless guerilla warfare in the mountains.

There will be those who will continue to deny that racism exists in America, and will look to discredit this important honor.

Some. I doubt there are many who deny racism among all races exists and, given human nature, will always exist. On the other hand, “systemic racism” once existed but no longer does unless, of course, it is revived as may occur given the radical leftist agenda.

Federal compensation for slavery is coming.

No. Unworkable. Programs already exist that address important issues like educational disparities. That these disparities still exist demonstrates the failure of program design and lack of reevaluation and adjustment.

Paid holiday, or time-and-a-half for workers

Another freebie in a year of government payouts.

If Lincoln saw what his party has now become, he would turn into a vengeful ghost and actually murder every member of the modern GOP, Ju-on style.

When you waken from your dream be sure to clean your privates well.

Ironic that America under GOP fought for Emancipation and today the same GOP is fighting to take rights away from the descendants of the emancipated!!!!

I suppose you mean voting rights? Case in point is Georgia: recent changes in procedures actually enhance voting rights of all eligible voters. If you think that the I.D. requirement is an infringement of voting rights because “POC can’t get them” then you yourself need to rid yourself of your racialist stereotype of the “too ignorant to get any I.D. black”. Most blacks have had I.D.s all their lives.

How sad that a wonderful holiday comemorating an important even in history is belittled by so many who claim racism is over.

No one is saying that, but left can’t just talk non-stop about racism as if it’s just an American phenomenon and regulated to the US only and that every whites person is racist and at the same time overlook and never acknowledge reverse racism and in doing so, we can never have an honest discussion to fight this cancer.

Happy Juneteenth! America has come a long way and still has more work to do but it's an honor to be called an American. God Bless the U.S.A.!!

I wholeheartedly agree with that.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Avenger

So now you’re making it as if Lincoln really had nothing to do with ending slavery and we should not honor or respect the man and he deserved to have been shot by a slave supporter? Wow, just wow…

OK. Then you tell me why Republicans are closing voting polls on Sundays and banning carpools to the polls.

I already outlined it.

And be sure to make up a reason that not only makes sense, but is so legitimate and necessary that it justifies the side effect of disproportionately hurting blacks.

How to limit the ability to possibly cheat? How is voter verification and making sure that who you say you are is verified with proper documentation? I fail the see the racist connection.

These are events organized and carried out by blacks for blacks. You're reached the end of the line here in terms of knowledge and responses here.

Not really, it’s just that using other identification as well as people that have been deceased and not verifying it or the expiration date or current residence is just more excuses from the left that just don’t make any sense or justification and they know, but of course pointing it out is racist.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

This holiday is in part an apology and recognition of the wrongs of the past. We should all be proud. I admit I didn’t research the holiday that much and I was wrong about it and I understand, the significance of it now and the importance of this day.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

As for reparations; there is now a method for states to fund it at their level. Knowing that there will be sales attached to the holiday, states that wanted to could declare that any sales taxes collected 5 days before and 5 days after the holiday be directed into funds specifically designed to help generationally disadvantaged population groups.

From a private business level, a could announce they would match a portion of any sales taxes collected within the same time frame and donate towards organizations deemed working to help generationally disadvantaged populations.

That I can see this will seriously fail, there would be a lot of pushback and counter lawsuits. Who has to pay for monetary compensation and is it Constitutionally legal? It would have to be on a case by case basis, a lot of research has to be given, how and what way and how or even what the limit or relationship is or was to the particular family that was tied to slavery, how to calculate monetary compensation, they can try, but determining that will be nearly impossible.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

Ironic that America under GOP fought for Emancipation and today the same GOP is fighting to take rights away from the descendants of the emancipated!!!!

Absolutely not! They’re the ones fighting for a free and safe election, making sure that everyone has an ID and are registered so that their voices can be heard and not taken away by non-citizens or dead people or double voting. They are the ones that question Democrats as to why their cities with the highest minority counts have some of the highest crime and poverty rate in the country, but when they do that, they’re called racists, so then the right should just ignore it…..but then again, they would be called racists for ignoring the disparity and poverty that is Plaguing democrat controlled cities.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

“The celebration of Juneteenth is not a party. ... The way to deal with Juneteenth now is to deal with where race is in 2021,” Sharpton said.

With the teaching of Critical Race Theory, (CRT) in public schools?

With corporations like COKE releasing pr statements stating "be less white".

Grants of assistance for midwest farmers, but only going to black farmers?

With Biden saying that the biggest threat to the USA is white supremacy?

MLK had a dream that people would not be judged not by their skin color but by their character.

Seems there is racial hatred being sowed today, intentionally, to cause disunity.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

they’re called racists, so then the right should just ignore it…..but then again, they would be called racists for ignoring the disparity and poverty that is Plaguing democrat controlled cities.

Supposedly the Democrat Party is the party of acceptance then immediately after Tim Scott's rebuttal, he was called an "Uncle Tom" and "oreo" which are both extremely extremely racist terms. Oh, did the media or anyone on the Left speak out about that? Nope.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

There's only one reason why Republucans would propose closing polling places only on Sundays, and it's because of Souls to the Polls.

That is just as absurd as it gets.

And there's only one reason why Republicans would propose banning carpools and ride lifts to polling stations, and that's because of Souls to the Polls.

Make up what you want, but everyone here reading this already knows it will be just made up.

That’s not true, if it were, the Dems would want to debate it, but they don’t and they won’t because there is nothing that they can prove to that supports that outlandish claim. When Democrats and liberals take that position you’re taking, that’s racist in itself basically saying that black people cannot coordinate the proper time and or be responsible to get to the polls on time or the day of voting without the help of whites, and that is being racially insensitive. Whites do not speak for blacks, if the system can work for poor whites, why can’t it work for poor blacks? It did in the past. Obama benefited greatly from it, as it Hillary in Joe. Look at the Squad, they were overwhelmingly put into office by minority women. Ahhh, Sup….you need a better argument. All Americans deserve free and fair elections, all and Democrats need to stop making and labeling us as separate tribes.

Juneteenth, recalling end of slavery, marked across U.S.

knowing your history is important. In the US at least, black slaves were not allowed access to information and education. So how about modern slavery? Hasn’t Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter all banned certain information that helps us educate ourselves? Information about the origins of the Covid-19 was banned and labeled a “conspiracy theory” by Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Information from well established and educated scientists and doctors about Ivermectin was banned on Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. YouTube even removed a congressional hearing on CSPAN. Is this not slavery?

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

Odd…I really don’t understand that story or what all that was about or how that relates to the topic, but ok….

Tens of millions were enslaved, their descendants long denied their rights including the right to vote, today we watch as more states controled by the right try everything to block black and Hispanic from voting.

Wrong! The only thing that the right wants is for everyone to vote in a free and Democratic process that is clean and free from any possible irregularities, it’s the left that oppose…

-Outlaw Vote by Mail (Except Absentee Requests) In Person Voting with Polls Open for a Week.

-Picture Proof of Identity to Vote.

-Absentee Voting Allowed with Advanced Request.

-Voter Registration Required at Least a Week before Polls Open.

-Proof of Residency to Register.

-Paper Ballots with Strict Chain of Custody.

-3rd Party Audit and Certification of Vote Counting Equipment.

-Monitored Vote Counting by Both Parties.

-Tie Voter Registration to County Death Certificates so Dead Removed Immediately from Rolls.

-Send Voter Confirmation Mail Once a Year to Make Sure Voters are at Current Address.

-If they Moved Out of the County their Registration is Immediately Cancelled.

-Tie Registration to Social Security Number so States can Check to Ensure People are NOT registered in multiple locations.

None of these provisions are racists. Not one, and this ensures every single American citizen can vote confidently and securely and prevents BOTH sides from cheating, that’s a good thing.

No wonder I have few American friends here, and the 2 I do have are black. Most of my friends are Canadian, European, multiple African and Asian countries and few of them want anything to do with most white male Americans here.

Ask yourselves why?

Maybe because they’re getting a one-sided skewed viewpoint from our msm, maybe they should deeply research and look at other opposing viewpoints and not just leftist ones. Coins always have two sides.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Still have a long ways to go. A new Voting Rights Act would go a long way, since the Supreme Court gutted the old one which is, coincidently, when the GOP started closing polling places, reducing registration windows, and reduced voting times that disproportionately hurt black people.

This is always the Democrats big fabricated myth and they know that blacks have every access to vote. Obama’s elections as well as Hillary and Biden’s proved that outright. This notion that blacks are kept away from the polls are just on its head ludicrous, and if that were indeed true, Obama would have never won, both times, the Squad wouldn’t have won, and we can go on, but the Dems are worried that with these provisions I outlined that most red states are adopting they won’t be able to pull any shenanigans whatsoever and that scare them, so what do they do? Yup, go for the race card…..again. It’s the only arsenal that they have to somewhat support a weakened argument.

Instead of reparations I'd rather see more federal backed loans for housing with $0 down since so many minorities were locked out of the real estate market in the past.

And if they can’t afford the mortgage, who’s going to pay it?

The dog whistles continue to this day . Thug = the N word, Democrat run cities = black cities, Welfare Queen = Black woman, etc.

Ahhh, so anything that liberals “think” is offensive, it just has to be racist, this is nonsense to the highest degree. Thug has nothing to do with the color or your skin, Democrat run cities, it’s true they are mostly black cities, they vote overwhelmingly black and the Democrats for over 60 years haven’t done anything to the lives of people, but when you pointed out, that’s racist and the same goes for welfare queen. You could be black, you could be brown, you could be white, this has absolutely nothing to do with color, and I think it’s sick that every time we cannot have a conversation with liberals, because everything amounts to race and color for them and when you inject a race into every argument, you can never have a decent conversation and who in the end suffers the most from not addressing the issues? It’s black people because the Democrats won’t address their issues, they never do and you can prove it.

Got to love the rightist responses:So there is a holiday celebrating the news that African-Americans received of the end of an institution of unpaid work, corporal punishment, mutilation and zero freedom for a race of people.

Then soon after, the Left creates the Jim Crow Laws which lasted 100 years. They have much much more making up to do than creating a holiday.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Closing polling places early,

So we should keep the vote going all day into the evening and next day and make sure poll watchers all go home?

reducing ballot drop-off boxes, reducing registration windows, etc., do not impact security.

Yes, they do especially if you are not willing to allow Republican pill watchers equal access to view the process along with their Democrat counterpart.

It just reduces access, and it's especially more acute in large, densely populated cities, which is also where more minorities live.

So other counties can do it efficiently and effectively like Florida, but Georgia can’t? Seriously? So white densely populated areas they can get the voting done on time, including the poor counties, but in Georgia black poor counties can’t? No one believes that, come on now…

Like I said before, you already won the voter ID battle. Now you're just straight up restricting access to voting itself,

No, I just listed and outlined the simplest requirements to vote, not restrictive in anyway whatsoever. In fact, it makes it a lot easier to vote for everyone and more difficult to cheat for anyone, that’s a good thing that benefits everyone all races.

The US is not Pushing anything, you have a gun rights activist in Canada and gun enthusiast in Canada that are pushing to be allowed to use their firearms responsibility and respectively, that has nothing to do with the US
