I haven't checked, but were there any blacks on the jury? Take a look and see if he was convicted by white racist or by his own peers also.

You don't know Vegas very well, do you? It's ten times more liberal than any other city in the U.S. You can anything you want anytime. Everyone is welcome. There are probably fewer racists there than anywhere in the world. Everyone just wants to party.

sailwind: It is not OJ's guilt or innocence that is at issue, it is more the wacko general statements about black people. The suggestion that they are largely not independent minded and are possessed of an inherent pack mentality. You can say whatever you want about OJ but the reality is that his recent trial in Vegas is one that is open to question in respect to jury selection.

Everton...Agreed

O.J Simpson a poor black child that grew up in racist America and despite all odds became a superstar running back in Pro football. Then after a very successful career as a pro football player moved into Hollywood and a good successful T.V and Movie career....... JUST HAD TO BE DESTROYED by those L.A.P.D racist cops and THE MAN. Had to keep a brother down. Heck there was no way he murdered his wife it was a SET UP. just like this travesty current travesty of justice. O.J is a VICTIM, so what if he decided after he got free to hang around convicted criminals he was only doing what a black has to do he was fighting the power...........Go O.J, Go to Jail thank goodness, about time he held accountable for his PRESENT actions. Have your fit now Everton after reading this post.

Helter_Skelter: We know exactly what you mean. You conveniently left out the word "whites" thinking you could camouflage your true intentions.

You have used one case involving an highly polarized verdict to taint all black people. You have used it as a reference to extrapolate across the entire black community.

In fact, in your wacko generalization all black people across the planet regardless have being vilified in your remark.

This is as ridiculous as the charge of that not so smart Australian tennis player Leyton Hewith, who claimed that he was being cheated by the black official, who kept calling his first serve a fault because his opponent in the game was black.

Helter Skelter is suggesting that black people coming together for the purpose of jury duty will automatically enter into a conspiracy, for the purpose of perverting the course of justice. That this is their natural tendency and so can not be trusted if the defendant is black.

OJ really must be a stupid man.

Instead of committing crimes with his sleazebag buddies he should have just slithered away after his double murder acquittal to a quiet life in some florida retirement community. A little golf in the morning, a whirlpool after lunch, an afternoon nap and maybe a little bingo or kn aster after dinner.

Maybe that would have given him too much time to think. Well now he has more time than ever....when he isn't practicing 8 foot putts.

northlondon - I was talking about this trial. Not the murder trial of Nichol and Ron.

This trial: http://www.lvrj.com/news/28279434.html

As I stated before, I don't think that OJ got railroaded this trial. He screwed up. < :-)

Everton

If you want to suggest that only white people has the capacity to dispense justice then you have essential given potency to my point.

I didn't say anything about white people. The jury of OJ's murder trial consisted of 8 blacks, 2 Hispanics, 1 Native American, and 1 white. The verdict was decided before the trial began. The trial was about race, not crime. Of all the mistakes made in the OJ murder trial, and there were plenty, one of the biggest was the prosecution's assumption that even a predominately black jury would find him guilty. No way.

the witch hunt on OJ Simpson

OJ murdered his wife and friend and was the gang leader of an armed robbery and kidnapping. Hardly a witch hunt going on here.

I think calling a whole section of society racially biased is a very dangerous comment.

Possibly folks on here may find that offensive, i sure do. Don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I thinks OJ's charges were excessive, and most people are astonsihed he was found guilty on all counts.

His not guilty verdict in the 90's played a part in this methinks.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good. Because OJ's murder trial demonstrated that blacks are racially biased when it comes to determining guilt.

I see your true colours coming through then. I am a white man, but the witch hunt on OJ Simpson by the white police force has been disgraceful. If the only two black members of the jury were taken out because of racial bias concerns, then all of the white jurors should also have been withdrawn.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Helter_Skelter: If you want to suggest that only white people has the capacity to dispense justice then you have essential given potency to my point. The numerous amount of black people that have been wrongly convicted in America by all white juries I suppose have no significance. Your brand of social justice has been lifted from a chapter of the "Jim crow" chronicles.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The only two black faces on the original jury were taken out by the prosecution.

Good. Because OJ's murder trial demonstrated that blacks are racially biased when it comes to determining guilt.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

aaaah, are you saying the US Justice system is inept, racist and corrupt? that's a whole new kettle of fish eh

You started, so I'll finish. The so-called victim of the crime knew Simpson was coming, set the trap with the cops and made $210,000 out of the story. Four of Simpson's so-called accomplices testified against him and all had criminal records, including a pimp. A pimp sends women out for prostitution and makes money from that in case you didn't know. The only two black people selected for the original jury were taken off by the prosecution. There, I answered the inept, racist and corrupt parts for you....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I haven't checked, but were there any blacks on the jury? Take a look and see if he was convicted by white racist or by his own peers also.

No, you hadn't checked. The only two black faces on the original jury were taken out by the prosecution. It seems as though Simpson was convicted by the exclusive domain that Everton was talking about. It seems as though they were playing the race card, not Everton2. And yes, that is chickens&%t.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Everton2 - Pitching the race card doesn't excuse the facts. OJ flirted with the law for years now and everytime there are people who want to cry because he's black. This time he went to far. Got caught hook, line and sinker.

I haven't checked, but were there any blacks on the jury? Take a look and see if he was convicted by white racist or by his own peers also.

Throwing the race card is chickens&%t. < :-)

Typical American justice system that says we will hold a grudge against you if we have not been able to convict you on a previous charge. How dare you beat our system something that has been for years the exclusive domain of rich whites. Now we have an opportunity to punish you to return you to that place where we think you should be. We don't care what you have done or who set you up or for what reasons, you are going to jail forever.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If O. J. thought that there was property that belonged to him in that room, he should have called the cops and reported it. There is a system and we all know it.

As soon as he started conspiring with others to take offensive actions against these two dealers, he was wrong.

His problem is, it wasn't his property. It belonged to the Goldstein and Nichol's families. He was attempting to steal someone else's property.

He was wrong no matter how you look at it.

Sweet irony. < :-)

woaaaah there nellie! back the truck up

cannot you see the guilt written all over his face and body? Its crushing him. Look at his body language.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe he should start writing a book called 'If I really committed robbery, this is how I would have done it...'

Nobody has been able to pin good enough evidence on the guy for what they believe he did

in case you didnt read the News story above I'll give you a quick highlight instead... Jury finds O.J. Simpson guilty on all charges

aaaah, are you saying the US Justice system is inept, racist and corrupt? that's a whole new kettle of fish eh

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I must say this. No matter what people think personally about Simpson's innocence. And no matter what the cops think. Nobody has been able to pin good enough evidence on the guy for what they believe he did (first the murder of his ex-wife and now this set-up job). He has ended up in jail because of a complete set-up. How can a memorabilia seller owning stolen merchandise end up making $210,000 out of the deal ! Did you see the CCTV footage of te raid ? It was comical. The accomplices were pointing Simpson in the direction of the set-up !

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He just got obsessed with a woman who was not right for him and acted in a terrible way. Happens everyday. I do not think That OJ is a bad guy at heart.

woaaaah there nellie! back the truck up

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Did you see the pics of him being cuffed. He almost looks relieved. Not sad or broken. This man is Consumed with guilt about what he did. He wants to be punished. He wants to atone but not come out with the truth. In jail, he may just square the ledger. He may just tell the truth. Once he gets used to it, he will know he belongs there because this man has a conscience and its eating him alive. He just got obsessed with a woman who was not right for him and acted in a terrible way. Happens everyday. I do not think That OJ is a bad guy at heart. Just a simple guy caught up in things he could not cope with. He wants this punishment. He sought it and got it. Now lets see you tell the truth OJ.

one of the Japanese stations played The Naked Gun today.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

****The bigger they come, the harder they fall. OJ was sitting on top of the world and blew it. Even after a second chance he blew it again. Guess he can't live without notoriety; attention at any cost.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Blast! Pushed the wrong button and the quote is messed up.

Anyway, if this is a setup it is going to be exposed eventually. Then O.J. might escape the law a second time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If the following is accurate, the case smells badly of a setup:

Memorabilia dealer Thomas Riccio, who arranged and secretly recorded the hotel-room confrontation, said he netted $210,000 from the media for the tapes.

Similarly, minutes after the Sept 13, 2007, incident, one of the alleged victims, sports-memorabilia dealer Alfred Beardsley, was calling news outlets, and the other, Bruce Fromong, spoke of getting “big money” from the case.

I have no real love for OJ Simpson. And he more than likely did murder his ex-wife and her boyfriend. But the law should be the law and you must not bend it in order to get a conviction. The LAPD messed-up the original murder trial which should have made the private prosecution invalid. And now this set-up. My thoughts are that his memorabilia was stolen as the first part of the sting. The crooks who turned against him were probably also in on the set-up (criminals who the cops made a deal with to become part of this to save some jail time for other crimes) and these crooks encouraged Simpson to plan the raid to retrieve the items that were stolen. Simple set-up.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

After turning two people into Pez dispensers and getting away with it, I suppose he felt like he could get away with anything. Unfortunately for him, his bank account no longer provides him the ability to hire a legal dream team.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm with northlondon and CavemanLawyer. I had to reread this article a few times to make sure what I was reading was what I was really reading. Simpson looks like a very stupid fall guy. The people who set him up ought to get equal jail time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How could the jury covict OJ after he told them, "I'm no robber - I'm a murderer!"?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This would have been thrown out for gross entrapment involving the guy who made $210,000 and the dubious characters who ended up testifying against Simpson.

That sure sounds a lot more reasonable than what I am hearing. I have no particular love for Simpson, but the people who were around him seem like scum who should serve more jail time than him for this.

And we all know that if those things did actually belong to Simpson, it would have taken the law so long to get them back that they would be returned to Simpson's estate, after he is dead.

Prosecutors said Simpson’s ownership of the memorabilia was irrelevant;

It isn't to me. It makes the crime quite understandable, and the recipients of said crime culpable for bringing the situation down on their own heads. I might feel different if the law moved quickly and justly on these things, but the don't, and we all know its true. --Cirroc

Meh.

All he had to do was stay out of trouble. Too bad for him.

American justice at its worst is when he was let go for criminal charges but found liable for the civil charges. Now, it is just desserts.

No pity from me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I cannot believe what I am reading here. The owner of the memorabilia store arranged the confrontation and netted $210,000 from the tapes ? Four of Simpson's partners in the crime struck plea bargains to testify against Simpson in return for their liberty ? Most of them had criminal records, including a pimp ? The US legal system seems totally different to British legal system. This would have been thrown out for gross entrapment involving the guy who made $210,000 and the dubious characters who ended up testifying against Simpson. It's clear to me that the cops have been smarting ever since they bungled the original OJ Simpson murder trial. American justice at it's worst.
