That sort of thinking leads to starving kids to save money!

Err Mist, could you be more specific on how this happens?

and then get a free ride on all hardworking citizens.

Erm, Mike, you ever heard of sewing wallets or punching out license plates? Jail ain't the Club Med.

And nobody is riding a high horse for disagreeing with you. The problem is you justifying killing to save money among other things. That sort of thinking leads to starving kids to save money!

wtf are you on?

aaah. so you are a barbarian then.

and brimming with indignation. wow, I was right all along!

Yes I am a barbarian in your foolish eyes. And no I am not indignant. I am a realist. I don't think we should pay to keep these people when our taxdollars should be put to better use than supporting those who choose to kill others and then get a free ride on all hardworking citizens. It's you being the high horse superior attitude because you disagree with me. That only reflects on what kind of person you are not me. I'm being honest. Sorry if it bothers you.

I do support caning. Since the crime is not worth the death penalty I still think there should be some consequences for the evil things that people do to other people. Physical consequences. So Yes I'd like to see this cane and I'd also like to see it used on this man for his idiocy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

oh I see, you were being sarcastic. I thought you genuinely supported caning. I apologise

0 ( +0 / -0 )

my indignation? WTF are you on? Try reading the sentences a few times. Maybe you'll get it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'd love to see the cane they'd use on them. And I'd love to see it used on them too. Barbaric people.

your indignation aside surely you can see something isn't quite right with that sentence.

"prosecutors asked for a life sentence"

The first 9 months should be confinement in a squalid bathroom with only a piece of bread and water each day.

There's a few information gaps in this story. I can't fathom how it took months for anyone to notice or report? At the very least, you would have expected hotel staff to be aware of a family staying there for an extended period, and to have their suspicions aroused with the childrens' absence (even if just on hotel grounds, let alone attending school). Still, it is good to know they were rescued, particularly that little girl. I find it difficult to rationalize concepts like mercy, compassion, forgiveness...in the face of so many horrific cases of abuse and murder. The world stopped making sense a long time ago.

Proxy, while I admire the effort you probably shouldn't bother calling out the double standard; people will choose to remain willfully oblivious to their own bias and hypocrisy.

I understand your point just pointing out that this sort of thing does exist, and that the woman did have a small child, again I am not saying in this case it is relevant. Besides in the article says nothing about any type of depression...thing is when it comes time for her to stand in front of the judge I don't even think "postpartum" would be relevant anyone can see she is just as guilty as this pig!. She def. is as much to blame..no..even more to blame than the pig who did this...and yes women do get charged as men in these cases when proven guilty...even men get off with insanity pleas...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

VelvetRosetta, okay, one was. But no special reason to think her problem is that. The double standard is still just as obvious. Its not the role of the woman mentioned, its the fact that in general, the same crime will be viewed more harshly if a man does it.

I also didn't notice so much about the mother at first, and for some reason assumed the children were on their own with the man. She should, at the very least, be charged for neglect, and if it's clear she was more active in the abuse she should receive a more serious charge.

However, I would stop short of what proxy said and say that I don't think many (if anyone) would rush to a woman's defense if she did the same thing. To newly born children, true, post-partum depression can result in cases of abuse -- but these are KIDS, not infants, and not even toddlers. Anyone who ran to the aid of such a monster simply based on sex would have to be pretty awful themselves.

As to the man's excuses, now that I've read them more carefully, I agree that he's clearly just trying to shift the blame. Again, awful stuff. Did he really get 99 years? That should suffice, methinks.

We should look more to Singapore in how it'd deal with people like this. I'd love to see the cane they'd use on them. And I'd love to see it used on them too. Barbaric people.

MistWizard..article clearly states..Alfred and Abneris have a daughter together who was 1

Post partum depression can last up to a yr..not using it as an excuse she has no excuse for allowing this man to do these atrocities..

These weren't babies, so talking about post-partum depression is utter nonsense! Proxy has a good point. The double standard is stark and none of you are helping yourselves trying to talk your way around it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

True Post-partum depression is a factor in some cases, but this one..nah...she let this man intentionally harm her children, I wonder what kind of a mother she was before hand? Also 3 kids from different fathers, obviously she was never a stable woman to begin with...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

proxy-- Possibly because post-partum depression is an actual problem. But that's neither here nor there, child murder is child murder to me. This man is just as sick, in my opinion. It's unfathomable to me that anyone would harm children, especially like this, to such a degree. You would HAVE to be messed in the head, to not see the wrongness. I just... I can't wrap my mind around it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sick. And I thought stuff like this only happens in Japan. Where's kyoko when you need her?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Funny, if a woman does something like this people run to her defense, "oh she must have serious mental problems and needs therapy," but if the perpetrator is a man people think he is "evil" and want to string him up.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

other news say he was sentenced 99 years. but I'm also curious about the mother, I don't know exactly what happened, but obviously they should investigate her as well

0 ( +0 / -0 )

terrible. where was the mother? lock them both up

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You know I totally missed to say about the woman..I think the article should have been written a bit better..and specified more on the woman..

A Texas man...(why not say couple) accused of starving three children and confining them to a squalid hotel bathroom...fine..it wasn't one of the cleanest "hotels" but didnt anyone hear or see anything strange I mean after 9 mths...

Sick how she cared only about the child she had with this pig and didn't care about her other children...she deserves to be punished even more harsh than him!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Carrizales blamed the children’s mother, Abneris Santiago, for denying the children food and suggested the youngsters’ testimony about beatings and rapes was unreliable.

This man deserves to be locked away forever. And what a STUPID confession on the sex thing. Ugh. But this sentence about the mother chills my blood. It's obvious he's trying to shift the blame here, but I still don't understand how in cases like this, the mother is always absent. I mean, really, where WAS she? Did she care at all what this monster was doing to her children? I can't stand people like this. The only bright spot in this story is that the children didn't die.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He should be given 25 for each child without chance of parole! They should also let him go without food for a mth or more so he can see how it feels..what a disgusting minded pig, this man is. If he even deserves to be called a man!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think 25 years PER CHILD ought to suffice. Sick, sick man.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ah, it just says the defense wants a 25 year sentance. Doesn't mean he's going to get it, they'll probably go for max sentancing since it was 3 children and not just one.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Santiago also said he could not explain why he had told investigators that he had awoken from naps to find himself having sex with the girl. He could not recall telling police that, he said.

Evidence one that the child sex hysteria is screaming down the tracks out of control. How do you imagine he awoke from naps having sex with a little girl? The police actually believed this "confession"? Could that be any more retarded? Its a lot like the headline that read: "Man kill self before shooting family".

the defense argued for 25 years _ the minimum allowed given the sexual abuse conviction.

Yeah, because without even looking at details, that is worse than wrongful imprisonment, and the whipping and starving of kids and making them fear for their lives. Yeah, he could have killed one and still the sex abuse would have been the worst. America seems to get its priorities out of a cracker jack box.

That said, it sounds like the guy would get a life sentence in my court, no parole, and that is before anyone could even say the words "sex abuse".
