Do these people look like they are "ending lawfare"?

And people questioned whether Donald was a fascist. I guess we have an answer to that now…

Well, when activist judges stand in the way of executives, this is what the Dems don’t realize, one day (although no time soon in the distant future) they will be in power and a Republican judge can do the same thing, will the Dems take the same position as they are now? Judging by their political stances, I would say, absolutely not. It doesn’t matter what any liberal thinks, not one bit, this will most likely end up at the SC. So it seems the SC will be in the end the only thing that will wake the Dems up and then once the President wins, he can proceed with his implementation of shrinking the government, the Dems can do it the easy way or they can do it the hard way.

The Democrats don't tear up the federal government. Quite simple really.

So it seems the SC will be in the end the only thing that will wake the Dems up and then once the President wins, he can proceed with his implementation of shrinking the government, the Dems can do it the easy way or they can do it the hard way.

Just like he won having his court cases tossed out, right? Not by the Supreme Court.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

And now Trump is quoting Anders Brevik, the mass shooter from Norway. Trump isn’t a dictator on only day one.

Well, when activist judges

There are no activist judges.

Plenty of judges stopped Biden EO’s. You didn’t see the whinging that you see from MAGA.

In a letter foreshadowing her decision, Sassoon accused the department of acceding to a “quid pro quo” — dropping the case to ensure Adams’ help with Trump’s immigration agenda.

I totally respect these prosecutors and attorneys for not abandoning their principles and do something that is both illegal and corrupt. Using the principled resignation is a way that they can avoid having to stand in a courtroom and outright lie to a judge to dismiss a case in which they have already accumulated a mountain of evidence for. These attorneys know that they cannot in their clear conscience lie, and I commend them for that.

On her first day on the job, Bondi announced the creation of a “Weaponization Working Group,” to scrutinize the prosecutors who brought criminal and civil cases against Trump and to examine the Jan. 6 prosecutions. She wrote in a memo that the department “must take immediate and overdue steps to restore integrity and credibility” and to ensure that personnel were “ready and willing” to implement the president's agenda.

Unfortunately, Trump himself lacks the integrity needed, and he ends up hiring people who also lack the integrity to do their jobs both legally and ethically.

In any case, Trump got what he wanted. Someone signed the paper for a dismissal to this case. It will probably now go to a hearing. In which case, the judge will probably ask what happened to those lawyers' notes that Bove mysteriously confiscated during their meetings. Lawyers are always taking notes, and confiscating them, seems very fishy. Also, Bove will have to testify under oath.

Bear in mind that Hagan Scotten (a military solder awarded two Bronze Stars - a feat that very few have been recognized in their military career) was absolutely not some Biden or liberal servant, he is a stalwart conservative and believes that Justice Roberts on the US Supreme Court is a good man. Also, the quote he made on his resignation is incomplete as he wrote, "If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

Scotten clearly wasn't going to be any part of this quid-pro-quo shenanigans with ICE/DHS and/or the Federal Executive Branch of Government and Mayor Adams.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

In Assistant U.S. Attorney, Hagan Scotten's letter of resignation, he stated, "Any assistant U.S. attorney would know that our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials, in this way ... If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

Those words ring so true. There will eventually be someone that Trump can buy or is stupid enough to follow him blindingly. That is so frightening. But at the same time, I'm happy to hear that there are several good people with integrity working for government. It's just unfortunate, most of them are being forced out.

Top officials have demanded the names of thousands of FBI agents who investigated the Capitol riot, sued a state attorney general who had won a massive fraud verdict against Donald Trump before the 2024 election, and ordered the dismissal of a criminal case against New York Mayor Eric Adams by saying the charges had handicapped the Democrat's ability to partner in the Republican administration's fight against illegal immigration.

In a normal, democratic administration, this would be more than enough to warrant a firing and an investigation. But Trump 2.0 is not a democratic administration.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

no one should be surprised that bondi lied at her confirmation hearing.

the last time people at doj resigned like this in protest was just before nixon finally resigned in disgrace.

nixon was a saint compared to the temerity of this administration. he resigned for the good of the country, while this crew of deluded, lying snakes couldn’t care less about the country.

Half of the nation disagrees with you

49.8% of eligible voters who decided to show up is not "half the nation".

Furthermore, people who voted for Trump do not necessarily espouse all the MAGA craziness some people now have based their whole personalities around. The real MAGA fans are a very vocal minority of voters and an even bigger minority of the actual population.

A MAGA wet dream.

Plenty of judges stopped Biden EO’s.

Yes, but Biden wasn’t trying to shrink the government in any capacity,

Which is irrelevant. Judges stopped Biden from executing his agenda, MAGA is fine with it. Judges stop Trump and suddenly they are “activist judges”.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Trump's administration is sure thick with hypocrisy. They don't want people to weaponize the government, but they themselves do it when they want to go after everyone who brought criminal charges against Trump and the Jan. 6th rioters. Trump had the audacity to say that those rioters were attacked, when the videos all clearly show that they did the attacking. Also, they complain about DEI hires, when they themselves hire people not because of their ability and qualifications, but by their loyalty to Trump (e.g. Hegseth who has already made way too many rookie mistakes, when there were so many other more qualified people to lead the Department of Defense). By the way, is it me, or does it seem like most of the women Trump hires have stepped right out of a Stepford Wives movie?

These people are objectively not very intelligent: they vote for shutting down the government and then wonder why they can't get tax refunds and other business they have with the government done.

The deconstruction of democracy....

Welcome to MAGA-America - where the rich get richer and the little guy gets the shaft...

I wish our MAGA-friends here just had the candor to honestly admit they want a kleptocracy - an "Emperor" who is all-powerful...

Just like Germany in 1933....

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Just like Obama and his “wingman” Eric Holder.

where was the independence then?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Eric Adams is now a maga hero. How ‘bout that!

The Judge rules over Trump,he will hold a hearing under perjury of law to get too the truth

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Let us call it what it will be:

The Department of Injustice!

Once again for those who still don't understand.

It happened in Germany some 90 years ago, too.

Stopping the free press (AP!!)

Insult, blame, and dump the opposition

deport those you don't like (Gaza and even within the US)

end all government agencies / departments that don' kiss your arse (Dep. of Health, CIA, FBI, FEMA ...)

remove all judges who are still protecting the democracy

replace everyone with your own clan members

In addition for Donald goes: revenge!!

Adolf Ver 2.0 in full progress!!!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Seriously, how can MAGAs keep defending all this? Have you noticed that the intelligent conservative judges aren't going along with it? Does that not tell you something? Or are they just traitors to you?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Which is irrelevant.

To you, not to most Americans

Judges stopped Biden from executing his agenda,

Not really and not when the Country went gender astray, but now this new President has

MAGA is fine with it. Judges stop Trump and suddenly they are “activist judges”.

Trying to uphold the Constitution is not trying to push a liberal agenda, sorry

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Have you noticed that the intelligent conservative judges aren't going along with it?

I haven’t noticed.

such as who?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Dietrich Bonhoeffer once stated, “Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved — indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.”

This totally describes Trump and most of his party. I really struggle to find anyone with any sense of intelligence and integrity within the MAGA GOP.

He died in a concentration camp - killed for speaking the truth.

That's the disturbing part. People who speak out against autocratic and Fascist governments are doing so with the knowledge that they could be killed by their governments at any time. It's like in Russia, North Korea, and China. I'm afraid that under Trump, it will go down that path.

how 'bout this?

Danielle Sassoon, tapped to lead the Manhattan federal prosecutor's office on Trump's second day in office, quit on Thursday - because she won't give Donald what he wants!

Assistant U.S. Attorney Hagan Scotten stepped down - another conservative who supported Donald!

Another "Saturday Night Massacre" in the making!

stop with the shrinking the government stuff. republicans want to increase the debt limit by $4 trillion. federal employees account for about 2% of a $6 trillion budget. the employees forced out are only 2.5% of that.

it’s the same old game by them. say they’re going to shrink government to save the country financially, then they spend more than democrats every time. they just want to spend it differently, giving it their cronies, tax breaks to corporations and the rich.

the rest of the people can go eat cake.

and now their budget calls for $3.7 trillion (trillion!!) in tax breaks to the top 0.1% wealthiest people.

want to do something fiscally responsible? don’t do it and put that in the treasury instead of their pockets.

"Justice Department's independence threatened as Trump's team asserts power over cases and staff."

What a useless cute headline?

Dismantling, the deep state will require shaking every facet of the Federal Government. Only then the American society will be free from deep rooted corruption between the powerful, the MSM and their cheer leaders.

okay, agreed - but maybe you can also agree that even Donald supporters are finally understanding where he is leading the US. Dic(k)tatorship in the making. Promises made - promises broken!

Don’t agree with that in the least.

70% of Americans admitted he is doing exactly what he said he would.

the other 30% are too mad about know it to be able to answer that he is doing exactly what he said he would.

“intelligent conservative judges

No, they were all attorneys, who have been proven to not have any political agenda whatsoever. All were well-educated attorneys who just followed the rule of law and their basic principles of not being coerced or manipulated by someone else's own greed.

As for conservative judges, several of them have blocked Trump's trivial executive orders. For instance, Judge John Coughenour, who is on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, and who was appointed by Ronald Reagan in 1981, blocked Trump's order to deny birthright citizenship. He's known to be one of the most conservative and toughest judges, who will abide by the constitution to a tee.

I don't recall Eric Holder firing the entire DOJ.

Where did you get those 70% approval ratings? A poll showed 45% of Americans approve of Trump's performance as president, down slightly from 47% in a Jan poll. Down 2% within 3 weeks. If it continues this way - it will be down below 40% in a couple of weeks, down to complete disapproval at the end of this year (okay, maybe 15 to 20%).Don't feed us Breitbart or other highly unreliable numbers, please! Even hard-headed MAGAs are complaining already! Maybe you (and others) want to read this here:

he has kept his promises to the American voter,

Well, to be fair, he did say that he would put tariffs, so those farmers who are now complaining why they are losing money and voted for him, have no right to complain. They should've known it. In fact, during Trump's first term, they lost money then as well, during Trump's trade war. They didn't learn?

But, he's broken more promises than kept. Inflation is rising, the prices of groceries have not gone down, and people are getting laid off left and right. But he did accomplish some things: renaming the Gulf of Mexico, bringing back plastic straws, and instituting a ban on DEI language.

But one big promise he has broken is to put America first. Trying to acquire countries like Greenland, Canada, and Panama, and suggesting he'll develop Gaza, is not the way to put America first. Why not put the money towards developing in the U.S.? He likes to act all powerful over small, weaker countries like those, but cowers when it comes to Russia. Meanwhile, China is smiling because China is more than willing and capable of picking up all the trade partners the U.S. loses, as well as improve its standing by taking up the slack for good will in those developing countries that USAID used to help. China is the one country that doesn't really need the U.S.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

you specifically said he broke his promises.
