I think zelensky is either out of touch

most normal people agree that there’s only one person out of control - Putin !

Ukraine had become NATO's battlefield, thanks to mr president

Let me fix that for you -

Ukraine had become A battlefield, thanks to mr Putin

Anyone with an eye and a sense of responsibility would try to negotiate a deal,

If putin decided to bring the Russian army home, this war would be over.

Stop trying to blame Ukraine for defending their country, their homes from these Russian invaders

Ukraine say they have 700 thousands people under arms, this should be enough to expel Russian, like they say ,The first casualty of war ,is the truth

Adult males are not allowed to leave Ukraine. Their pre-war population was just over 41 million. About half, figure 20 million, are males. 700,000 men under arms would be 35% of the male population, not an unreasonable number for a war. Ukraine started the war with right at 200,000 active duty and 900,000 reserves. There are about 6.9 million Ukrainians who are fit for service, meaning adults below a certain age with no physical disabilities. To say Ukraine has 700,000 fighters right now is not unreasonable at all.

The problem for Russia is replacing both personnel and equipment losses. Russia will be years, maybe decades replacing the equipment lost to fighting in Ukraine. Russia was building 34-40 tanks per year before the war and has no ability to build ships like the Moskva. Ukraine doesn't have a problem replacing equipment losses and are in fact stronger equipment wise than when Russia invaded.

“If there is no Ukrainian strong army there will be no Ukraine, and that will be the case when everyone will understand… it’s not the war in Ukraine, it’s the war in Europe. We are defending our country, our land. We are not attacking anyone, because that is immoral.”

Volodymyr Zelensky

Proxy - The US should be ok with whatever deal the Ukrainians want to make or don't want to make. It's their country and their future.

I've seen estimates as high as 50,000 troops lost on the Russian side.

proxy war that is hurting Americans.

I don’t “have to” endure anything.

Quit whining about it then?

Sure is taking Russia a long time to wipe out 900 neo-nazis.

Russia fires top commanders over Ukraine war failures

Ukraine has also been removing top Russian commanders… see, there are areas where they agree.

Proxy, did you accidentally misconstrue the intentions of the Ukrainians or was it intentional?

Earlier, Zelenskiy told local television that while the fighting would be bloody, the end would come only through diplomacy and that the Russian occupation of Ukrainian territory would be temporary.

Zelenskyy adviser Mykhailo Podolyak ruled out agreeing to a ceasefire and said Kyiv would not accept any deal with Moscow that involved ceding territory. He said making concessions would backfire on Ukraine because Russia would hit back harder after any break in fighting.

“The war will not stop (after concessions). It will just be put on pause for some time,” Podolyak, Ukraine’s lead negotiator, told Reuters in an interview in the heavily guarded presidential office.

“They’ll start a new offensive, even more bloody and large-scale.”

Black: plus begrudging admissions that Russia is not losing but also not winning fast enough like there is some timer on this.

There is a timer on this, and your Russian boys have reset it several times.

Sucks ro be losing.

The Kiev regime

This of course needs to be bleated every day by Putin supporters.

a city that isn't on Russia's list for liberation.

Liberation? You mean stealing. And anything the incompetent Russian army is incapable of stealing for their kleptocratic dear leader is indiscriminately destroyed.

What a glorious "special military operation".

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Proxy - Putin would love that deal.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Just saw this on Al Jazeera. Priorities!

-Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says his country is prepared to exchange its troops who surrendered at the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol for Russian prisoners.

> -A Russia negotiator says Moscow will consider exchanging prisoners from Ukraine’s Azov battalion for Viktor Medvedchuk, a wealthy Ukrainian businessman close to President Vladimir Putin. He did not specify the number of prisoners considered for the exchange.

it’s not. And we can unchoose this path in November.

You previously wanted America to do 'something'. Now you want it to do 'nothing'.

When and why did you do a 180 flip?

The truth is leaking out:

Lol What truth? Do you have any link to this? This appears to be a verbatim quote of some random Twitter user.

Oh so Russia is “losing” again? it sure doesn’t appear that way.

Not according to Michael McFaul. According to him, Russia has failed at nearly every objective they've had.

proxy war that is hurting Americans.

Yeah, and? Millions of Ukrainians have been displaced, and tens of thousands more killed. Appeasement didn't work with Nazi Germany, and it certainly won't with Russia. I'm glad we're arming the Ukrainians, and I hope we keep it up.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Would be interesting to hear of the Ukrainian losses? I know approximately the Russian losses but nothing about Ukrainian and it can’t be all one way? The Ukrainian army play their cards close to their chest a wise move. I’m sure the footage of civilians being trained with wooden guns at the beginning was purposefully done as misinformation. And the Russian intelligence services lapped it up. That stupid Russian senator claiming that it’s slow going because the Ukrainians are trained just like us (Russia) overlooks western training in tactics since 2014. If the Russians push forward it invariably seems to be into a prepared trap.

Russia gave up on Kyiv and went to the second largest city, Kharkiv. They got pushed out of there but with this fresh onslaught we can see that Putin has again ordered them to take it. It would anchor the northern end of the new international border that Russia is drawing across Ukraine.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@UChosePoorly The US would like that deal too.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Sucks ro be losing.

Oh so Russia is “losing” again? it sure doesn’t appear that way.

somebody overdosing on Ukraine propaganda. Like when they surrendered at the steel factory it was said they “left” after a “symbolic defense”.

no, they surrendered after being actually defeated.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Zelensky seems to have come to the conclusion that he is not going to win. He is asking for diplomacy today, to end the war. The question is will the West help make peace or continue to push the Ukrainian people off a cliff. The Russians seem to have defeated substantial portions of the fer right militias and may have the remaining regular Ukrainian forces kettled.

Russian planning has been a disaster and they have paid dearly. Nobody knows if they were really making a move in the west or if it was a costly diversion away from the East. Command and control of the regular Ukrainian army has now been mostly destroyed and with new and probably better leadership on the Russian side they can basically slowly and methodically strangle the Ukrainian forces in the East.

This is a costly war on both sides with Putin and the US happy to arm and send young men to die.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Its baffling to see how some commenters assume Russia has failed to do this or that.

I suggest they stop Russia immediately !

Only problem is they cant .

No surprise there.

Blacklabel, the government do not tell you not to spend your money on something, you do not need and cannot afford

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Proxy, Ukraine is being carve up like Thanksgiving turkey, only a shell of it self

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

@Yrral So does a peace deal look like Russia taking control of the mostly ethnic Russian speaking areas in the East, the land bridge to Crimea and the mostly ethnic Russian city of Odessa with western Ukraine becoming a US/EU protectorate with neutral UN in between?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

20 million, are males. 700,000 men under arms would be 35% of the male population

What did I miss in the explanation of this calculation?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Proxy Ukraine will be alone, neither a EU member or NATO member, Zelensky is just delusional about this

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

The Kiev regime is having to put an awful lot of its effective military (and no doubt losing many of them) into the struggle to keep a city that isn't on Russia's list for liberation.

Meanwhile, anybody know what cities in Luhansk and Donetsk aren't in the hands of the governments of Free Luhansk and Free Donetsk?

The truth is leaking out:

To destroy Russia, you have to endure rising prices and falling living standards,” said US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

Official Washington, no longer hiding, voices the ultimate goal - the destruction of Russia.

proxy war that is hurting Americans.

I don’t “have to” endure anything. Democrats chose those path while falsely claiming it’s about Ukraine.

it’s not. And we can unchoose this path in November.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

I think zelensky is either out of touch or lost control. Anyone with an eye and a sense of responsibility would try to negotiate a deal, you can't just wait until the entire population flee the country!

Ukraine had become NATO's battlefield, thanks to mr president!

Standby for Another day of people claiming 900 Azov was a “few” hundred. And that 54 billion dollars is a “few” billion.
