Kim vows to 'win victory in the showdown' with U.S.

Sure, if by victory you mean having your armies vaporized, and your country turned into a sheet of molten glass

This guy has probably already negotiated a vacation home like Marcos, under an assumed identity in Hawaii.  Be hard to hide with that bad hairdo though

Chanelling Baghdad Bob? Sheesh, one might even get a more accurate statement from Sarah Sanders.

Kim just doesn’t know. If you play with matches, you’re going to get burned.

It is always good to set oneself challenging goals.

A lot of Japanese like to use the phrase "win victory" as well, and it's become a bit of a pet peeve. You don't say "lose loss", so why would you say the double "win victory"?

In any case, Kim's already winning the battle, so to speak. If it comes down to war, though, no one wins... although the world loses a whole lot more than just Kim and NK.

In that case Kim "wins defeat"?

As much as we all don't want to see a military solution to this, Pres Moon was the first to invite dialogue with North Korea and he was ignored. Tillerson just invited negotiations and this is how North Korea responds. The Russians have said that North Korea is absolutely determined to complete their nuclear and ballistic missile program, in violation of 8 UN Security Council resolutions and no sanctions or discussions will stop them. I fear very much that they are correct. The article states what North Korea's ultimate goal is. They openly talk of nuking U.S. cities. China and Russia cant or won't pressure NK enough to put the brakes on them. This is looking more and more like it's not going t have a pretty ending.

"They openly talk of nuking U.S. cities." If and only if they are attacked and have to defend themselves. Meanwhile Japan, south Korea and specially Americans play game of scaring NK and making them feel that they will be attacked any moment. after 50 or more years of continuous harassment and sanctions just because they are not capitalist, they have plenty of proven reasons for their phobia. Did anyone ever think of leaving them alone for a while or showing them that there is no desire to attack them, no instead they are purposely pushed around with the hope that they will be the first to pull the trigger and give the aggressors reason to invade them.

The U.S. has left them alone for 25+ years and every year they threaten to destroy Washington,Tokyo, and parts of Europe. It's Kind of strange that after 25 years when the U.S. finally gets tough and doesn't want to be pushed around or threatened to be destroyed anymore, this kind of comment suddenly pops up. So naive.

It's called the art of war.

Kim and Trump are 2 bully brats popping off the chops - AGAIN.

Even after this, there will be the morons and enemy agents who claim that NK is just joking and in fact this is all Japan and America's fault, and NK would calm down if we only ceded territory and hundreds of billions to them..

NK is done, there is nothing that will save them from their fate now, but what to do about these other enemies that have crept up from the depths this past year?

"It's not realistic to say we're only going to talk if you come to the table ready to give up your programme," Tillerson told a meeting of the Atlantic Council policy forum. "They have too much invested in it."

So is this a sign the U.S has given up on the idea of denuclearization? If so, what are the consequences for South Korea and Japan? Expect the conservatives to be elected in South Korea in a couple years and for South Korea to pursue nuclear weapons.

Sources please. Not from MSM. Tillerson sounds like he is just acting to say “we tried”.
