Thank you Ms. King for speaking up against the CRT narrative that is causing more division in the US.

She’s criticizing false narratives, not CRT. Read it again.

CRT is the false narrative. So her comments are quite awkward.

Another own goal. Did you read the article you linked? It is wholly supportive of CRT, more importantly what it means, and scathingly critical of those who dismiss it.

CRT and its unholy stepchild DEI are simply tools of division. Used to perpetuate false narratives of victimization and powerlessness among people whose lives have been improving steadily.

I am not sure which institutions can be called systemically racist when there have been black people at every level of power and control in the government- president, vice president, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Supreme Court justice, every federal cabinet position... these 'racists' must be pretty incompetent!

Another own goal.

No, sorry.

Did you read the article you linked? It is wholly supportive of CRT, more importantly what it means, and scathingly critical of those who dismiss it.

I did, but you didn’t read it. Over 20 States have banned it and that’s just the beginning.

Sure. It's like how 14 people have survived rabies, which means it's not a deadly disease, despite everyone else who has contracted it dying.

It is things like the value of a home sold by an African American family being appraised at hundreds of thousands of dollars less than the identical home in the same neighborhood owned by a white family. It is the many examples where a white family is offered a rental where an identically qualified African American family is not (and there are too many cases where housing authorities have busted land lords for this by setting up identically qualified rental candidates of different races and the white family is offered the rental and the Black family turned down, repeatedly by the same landlord). It is the persistence of racial segregation in cities due to banks reluctance to loan to African American families. It is the refusal of businesses to invest in minority neighborhoods, often leaving them with no large supermarkets, etc. It is whites taking their children out of public schools and placing them into segregated private schools while at the same time pushing elected leaders to reduce funding to public schools and through vouchers use public funds to pay for their child's private segregated school education. White flight in general hollowed out many big cities leaving them with only the poor left living there and a vastly reduced tax base to operate their city with. It is police viewing African Americans with greater suspicion than whites, such as the Army Lieutenant in Maryland recently pepper sprayed and dragged from his car in a gas station. The man is in his uniform and the videos clearly show he was not doing anything wrong but the police abused him because he was African American. It is deliberate efforts by states to eliminate polling stations and the closing of public offices where people can obtain the required IDs to vote in poor and/or predominantly African American neighborhoods to make it harder for them to vote. This sort of thing has been going on in the US in one form or another since slavery was ended. It is thousands and thousands of things like this and more every single day all over the US where African Americans are singled out for different treatment than whites. Many whites are not even aware that what they do or say is often motivated by their race, and the race of others they encounter. That education is vital if the racial divisions in the US are to ever be healed.

Hilarious when people post links without reading them

This is just the first paragraph.....

Fox News has mentioned “critical race theory”

1,300 times in less than four months. Why? Because critical race theory (CRT) has become a new boogie man for people unwilling to acknowledge our country’s racist history and how it impacts the present.

The right wing bigots backed by their propagandist media are trying to discredit something they have no understanding of!!!

Desert Tortise: paragraphs. They aren't just for breakfast anymore.

I already addressed that part.

The right wing bigots backed by their propagandist media

So now as the numbers continue to rise in the number of States banning this garbage continues to grow.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/04/why-america-needs-to-ban-critical-race-theory-in-schools/

https://m.theepochtimes.com/states-banning-critical-race-theory-in-government-add-up_3833931.html

Also, you did not mention any institutions that are racist. Some examples of people who are, that is for sure. And people who behave that way need to be named and shamed. But not institutions. Black people aren't forced to live in certain neighborhoods, go to certain schools, shop at certain shops.

Businesses do not refuse to open in neighborhoods because black people live there. They refuse because the crime rate is ridiculous, no matter who is committing the crimes. Same reason businesses in places like San Francisco are closing- can't make money when you are being robbed on a daily basis. Nothing to do with race.

The plural of anecdote is not evidence. Oh, and I would love to hear where these "segregated schools" are that you mentioned.

*The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.*

Yeah, the left keep saying that about every single conservative news outlet. From Fox to Blaze and Breitbart and according to liberals the only news source that matters should come from left sites to be considered legitimate…uh-huh….

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I already addressed that part.

ROFL, so you agree that the right wing bigots dont understand CRT!

That's a step in the right direction.

So now as the numbers continue to rise in the number of States banning this garbage continues to grow.

Garbage minds cannot understand what is written, thanks for acknowledging !!

The Epoch Times **is a far-right** international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.

The Epoch Times is a affiliated with the Falun Gong and hence critical of the Xi regime. They give an alternative and much more trustworthy angle to events in China then the state run "Global Times".

The label "far right" to slap on anything that is critical of the left wing dialog is getting ridiculous.

And so is basing ones opinion on the extremely biased Atlantic magazine.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Ulysses, a lot of left wing people ALSO don't understand "CRT" as it is colloqually used. Playing word games and parsing the meaning of it is just a semantic sleight-of-hand exercise.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It’s obviously dishonest as half of left claims it’s not being taught but the other half claims noting wrong with teaching it.

the United States was obviously not formed in 1619.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

ROFL, so you agree that the right wing bigots dont understand CRT!

If you think, as long as it’s banned and the number increases I’m good.

Garbage minds cannot understand what is written, thanks for acknowledging !!

Ok and?

The label "far right" to slap on anything that is critical of the left wing dialog is getting ridiculous.

And so is basing ones opinion on the extremely biased Atlantic magazine.

Exactly! If the liberals don’t approve of it (take your pick) it’s either racist, invalid or all of the above and if it’s on the liberal side, they even credit Rolling Stones as a real legitimate news outlet that should be trusted, go figure.

slams twisting of critical race theory

The "twisting" if CRT? CRT does not "twisting" to be wrong. It is radical racism, pure and simple.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I did, but you didn’t read it. Over 20 States have banned it and that’s just the beginning.

I did. As I said the article is 100% against banning CRT and ridicules those who feel threatened by it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Hopefully next we’ll read a story about some of the parents with children who are fighting CRT with their local school boards, and winning, and not some slightly famous child of a famous person the MSM trots out every mid January.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Those opposed to critical race theory: describe it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If reading the CRT makes you uncomfortable imagine the plight of people who have suffered under racism !!!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I did. As I said the article is 100% against banning CRT and ridicules those who feel threatened by it.

That is not what I was referring to. 20 States banned it and that’s just the start. Want proof? Look at Virgina. A blue state where people completely reject CRT.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

If people didn’t Youngkin wouldn’t have won in a landslide in one of the most fairest elections in Gubernatorial history.

ulysses

If reading the CRT makes you uncomfortable imagine the plight of people who have suffered under racism !!!

CRT creates racism, so yes, you can expect people to suffer from it. Imagine children given the choice to either define themselves as oppressors or as victims, solely based on their skin color. Judgment based on individual character, as promoted by MLK, out of the window. You are OK with that?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

CRT creates racism

Ah, yes, a legal theory developed in the 1970s is the cause of racism centuries earlier. Tell me more about time travel.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

If people didn’t Youngkin wouldn’t have won in a landslide in one of the most fairest elections in Gubernatorial history.

"People electing a rich white guy is proof racism doesn't exist" is quite the opinion you can have, but go on.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Nah, CRT as originally conceived was a theory taught mainly to law students at the post grad level. It discussed how racism is essentially buried in the DNA of all American political and social institutions, so therefore any attempt at achieving neutral outcomes is doomed to failure. For example, belief in meritocracy or capitalism- both exist to underpin white privilege.

Good enough?

Now, CRT as used in school curricula is not the same thing. So yes, technically CRT as originally brought about 30 plus years ago is not explicitly in the curricula. However, the basic tenets of CRT are in fact used to influence the curricula, and also used in teacher training from university level to professional workshops. Of course children are not taught CRT the same way as graduate law students. However, it permeates the lessons and the philosophical basis of their classes.

It appears in concepts such as race essentialism, assuming race is the most important facet of a person's existence, teaching that people can only either be oppressed or oppressor, and so on.

kurumazaka

You might have to wait a bit on that one, Express sister.

they’re probably on YouTube watching Tucker Carlson clips learning how to answer.

A strong whiff of baseless feeling of superiority here. Where do I get the impression that our defenders of CRT have never looked at the writings of Ibram X, Kendi or Robin DiAngelo?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why does seemingly everyone who is white/black biracial identify as "Black"? Seem they would identify as white if being white is so great and has all these supposedly wonderful benefits?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Imagine children given the choice to either define themselves as oppressors or as victims,

So you are equating things like segregation, lynchings, slavery with someone being made aware of segregation , lynching and slavery.
