Me thinks they are planning things for the long haul. Buckle up people and prepare to accept these new curbs on your freedom.

So how’s this going to “prevent another spike in cases”?

Vaccines don’t prevent transmission of COVID.

Want that dudes tabasco shirt.

Vaccines don’t prevent transmission of COVID.

they reduce hospitalisation and deaths dramatically

wearing a mask social distancing reduces transmissions.

it amazing that antivaxxers still use this excuse as some justification that we dont need any of this to fight this pandemic.

get your vax passes ready or stay home

In the last two weeks, Los Angeles County hospitalizations have fallen about 10%, mirroring the statewide trend. State forecasts show a continuing decline through Christmas.

Funny how crime and looting, in particular, have risen 10 percent. Angelinos are sick of the rules and are leaving in droves to greener pastures.

I am so glad I left that once great State, don’t miss it at all.

Are we in L.A.? How come you can live comfortably with Japan not showing vaccine passports but have no problems criticizing people in a city you don't live in?

Remember, California is the state that voted Gavin Newsome back in. Hopes aren't high that they'll exercise a lot of commonsense when it comes to vaccine mandates either.

But as Ronin says above, other places have moved past the nanny state mentality and are all the better for it.

And do you need a vaccine to Californicate?

Violent crime has risen everywhere in the US since 2019. LA had fewer property crimes but more violent crimes. The increase in LA is below the national average. Plano and Lubbock had double the number of homicides in 2020 compared to 2019 and Omaha had a 106% increase. Chula Vista had a 105% increase and Madison WI had a 400% increase in homicides. LA's 30.4% increase in homicides is below the national average of 36.9%. Before 2020 LA had gone ten straight years with fewer than 300 homicides, which is a very good by US standards for a city that large. California as a whole has the ninth lowest rate of death by firearm of the fifty US states.

Here where I live in the US no one really cares about masking even with mandates. Everyone sees it as a joke.

And lots of people are dying because of this deliberately ignorant and selfish mindset.

actually crime peaked in 2020 under Trump, stats of FBI website

homicides per capital are constantly from red states.

sucks when the actual facts prove you wrong, CA NY are both lower than TX FL

A first offense will bring a warning but subsequent ones could produce fines running from $1,000 to $5,000.

Sounds a bit authoritative.

Funny how last week Democrats were ranting over excessive bail ($1000), which led to someone killing 5 people with his SUV.

“A lot of businesses can't afford to have employees spending their time at the front door all the time. They just don't have the staffing,” he said.

Instead of Vax patrol, how about guard the doors and windows at Nordstrom, Walgreens, Louis Vuitton etc. so I can get some Christmas shopping done?

Am not against vaccines and would get them when I am comfortable to do that. Masks, hand sanitizers and social distancing etiquettes would help limit infections and hospitalization as an indirect result. Those measures do not kill you. Vaccines have been arguably working but they might kill you so forcing them on your citizens is wrong and am against it. It should be on voluntary basis.

I don't. I want vaccine passports so I know I can safely go to the sento, or a cafe, or a restaurant, or a bar.

If masking prevents Covid-19 infections,

Oh, there's the problem, no one ever claimed that masks stop the infections. They're just another tool in slowing down the spread.

This is a regular situation with the anti-vaxxers - they have misunderstood something they were told, then get angry when reality doesn't match with the misunderstanding they had.

South Park had a great take on your type this past week in their Post Pandemic Special.

in Japan nobody is forcing you to do anything, but if youre not vaccinated then dont expect to be treated like vaccinated person when it come time to travel go to concerts eat out etc. the supermajority of vaccinated Japanese have the right not to have to be in the same room as an unvaccinated person

@Strangeland: Don’t assume all anti vaxxers are for masks or something like that… not all people who have not been vaccinated are against it. The reality is, for example, people in Japan still wear masks, vaccinated or not, coz the risk is still out there. That probably explains why cases dropped significantly as a result.

this may not end nicely...not everyone is ready to bend ...

1 ( +7 / -6 )

@wtfjp: that’s not the case, luckily not yet, in Japan as at least we have no discrimination policy when it comes to vax status.

I haven't seen it yet! Is it good?

Pathetic

As if police didn’t have enough with the homeless, drug addicted, and gang crime, so now let’s go after the normal working folk. Who’s running this city?

Yeah, South Park exposed that type in their episode last week.

Good post MiuraAnjin

You would think almost 2 years in people would have a basic understanding of the virus and what you can do to minimize catching it or reducing severity.

It’s disheartening to see many people, some included in this thread, still can’t decipher best practices and between what scientists have been saying over and over again from what politicians use to gain votes.

Welcome to the future anti-vaxxers.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

the supermajority of vaccinated Japanese have the right not to have to be in the same room as an unvaccinated person

Also, the unvaccinated have the right to choose what medical care they receive, to avoid potential vaccine injury or death and to participate in society without segregation.

Everyone should have equal rights to take or not take a vaccine and to take other measures to avoid contraction such as social distancing or staying home.

I see the 3 morning morons on Faux were claiming that the new variant was a Democratic Hoax to help them win the election.

In what universe would a new extension to the pandemic help the Democrats?

This is the clown show that the GQP and the anti-vaxxers have become.
