Total arrests fell for the second straight month? Why is Trump weak on effective border security?

Look, they simply dig ilunsef the barrier.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

That’s why we need a WALL not a “barrier”. Arrests are down only because more are making it over the border without being caught. 80 groups of more than 100 since October? Sounds like a crisis to me.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Trump isn’t weak, Congress is negligent in their responsibility to fund effective border security. But you know this already.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Trump is the executive, which is responsible for federal law enforcement, this has zero to do with Congress. That said, it is easier to deflect to Congresx than admit your Dear Leader is incompetent.

If Dumpster Fire Donny weren't weak on border security and if this really weee a crisis, he would have gotten the wall started during the previous two years of republican control of Congresx or he would have already declared a national emergency.

Glad to see Trumpophiles are sticking to the wall and rejecting barriers. When Trump gets money for barriers, Trumpophiles won't have a leg to stand upon from which to claim a victory, not that that will prevent them from trying.

Tricky MSM, A 4% decline since last month, but up 62% from a year ago, and up over 65% a year before that.

There were nearly 150 children, including 32 who were traveling alone.

32 children traveling alone!?

Quickly marshmallow lefties, cover your eyes and ears so you won’t have to hear or see how many of these children were abused. Better yet, sit on your hands like the Dem politicians during Trumps SOTU speech that 76% who watched, liked it.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

No it will be a wall in most people eyes. but we are ok to let liberals call it a “barrier” if that eases your pain about losing the election.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Here we go again. Apparently, the AP and JT ignored the latest report from Whitaker ICE and Homeland...

Why am I not surprised?

Here we go again. Trumpophiles citing months old reports to refute what has occurred between the report and today.

A wall is a type of barrier, however, in this context it is different. Whether something is a wall or barrier in this situation is not subjective.

This has nothing to do with losing an election. It seems highly disingenuous and pointless to even attempt to link the issues. Deflections and obfuscations, what we have come to expect from Trumpophiles.

@chipstar.

Here we go again. Liberals saying “there’s no border crisis,” Did u read the article? Hmm?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Not only did I read the article, I comprehended it, unlike Trumpophiles that are too wrapped up in their manufactured outrage.

Central American nations are in crises, so large numbers of refugees are fleeing. Trump has deliberately dragged out asylum cases at legal crossings. As this has become apparent, those desperate choose alternative paths. They know they will be caught - that is their hope.

No wall can defeat the combination of human desperation and ingenuity.

No wall can defeat the combination of human desperation and ingenuity.

Oh, well in that case, let's tear down what we have now and just 'em all in. Only problem, Laguna, is after a couple of years of that, the U.S. will become just like their messed up countries.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

This is the whole point. You aren't going to do jack with a wall. Those people will get past it, making it a waste of money.

Spend the money on a different way to track people moving through the desert. Surely we can develop something able to see groups of 100+ people if we invest the time and funds in it. Or spend the money to increase the effectiveness of E-Verify.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Or how about spending money on more judges to speed up the backlog?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

@serrano Oh, well in that case, let's tear down what we have now and just 'em all in

Another example of the all or nothing, only the poles thinking of Trump supporters.

But it sounds like your 'leader' is backing down

Trump Gives Ground on His Wall as Border Deal Comes Into View

Clearly, the current laws are being abused and need to be altered. The total number of people allowed to enter from any country needs to be capped by their current annual quota. If that impacts flights, vacationers, businesses, asylum seekers, so be it.

Unlimited isn't an option.

Any number above 30 beats Japan's asylum successes.

Perhaps the CBP should delay arrests for a few days in really remote areas, until the laws can be changed to make illegal entry an automatic deportation.

Besides a shutdown, Trump has threatened to bypass Congress and divert taxpayer money to wall construction by declaring a national emergency at the border.

Lawmakers of both parties oppose that move. It would be certain to produce lawsuits that could block the money. It would also spark likely votes by Congress to block him. Trump could veto it, but the veto would still inflict political damage.

Well, since the Democrats could care less about security and seeing how radical they’ve become as a party, with each passing day they are making it easier and easier for Trump to slide into another 4 years. Love it.

Spend the money on a different way to track people moving through the desert.

What?

Surely we can develop something able to see groups of 100+ people if we invest the time and funds in it. Or spend the money to increase the effectiveness of E-Verify.

Trump/Pence 2020

Central American nations are in crises, so large numbers of refugees are fleeing.

Then these people need to stay and fight for our country like the way we’re doing now. The more they come, the more their country becomes unstable and we have to go in, but now that Trump is sending more troops to the border and as more of our resources are going off to illegals rather than helping our own people. Amazing how liberals feel bad for illegals but don’t care about the thousands of US citizens that are homeless or have no food or water or even a roof over their head.

Trump has deliberately dragged out asylum cases at legal crossings.

He should, the Democrats are purposely not helping him with sealing the border.

As this has become apparent, those desperate choose alternative paths. They know they will be caught - that is their hope.

But that hope starting to dwindle as now the Pentagon is getting more involved.

No wall can defeat the combination of human desperation and ingenuity.

But a border, tear gas, bullets, police will

The democrats are concerned about security. Trump isn't, just look at his Shutdown that hot thr FBI and TSA.

Oh, don't forgery arrests of undocumented immigrants have fallen over the past two months. Either Trump is weak on border security or there is no crisis. ROFL! Smh. Lol. Kudos.

How can someone in Japan be fighting for the US?

Liberals do care about citizens . Anyone clsimingbto the contrary is far too ignorant to be accorded any credibility or serious consideration.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Posted before, dig under or use ladders and radio jammers. Or... process immigrants on merit.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The democrats are concerned about security.

So why aren’t they concerned with the influx of illegals? If they were like they were back in 2013 they would work with the President to stop it, but instead they allow it.

Trump isn't, just look at his Shutdown that hot thr FBI and TSA.

Yes, he reopened the government, so what’s the Democrats excuse? Hurry try and find one....

Hmmmm....not according to Whitaker and since he is part of DHS, I believe him and the border patrol over any crazy political hack.

How can someone in Japan be fighting for the US?

When you have money you can do anything.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Well the clock is ticking. Dems planning to go on vacation again the day after the deadline so let’s see.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Everyone entering and leaving the USA though an airport or sea port goes through security checks.

Why are people entering the country by walking in the wilderness exempt from that requirement? Entire plane-loads at a time walking across the border, disappearing into the USA. Is that ok? If so, I don't want to ever be searched again in an airport.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

This is the whole point. You aren't going to do jack with a wall. Those people will get past it, making it a waste of money.

So we shouldn't try to do anything. That is what the dems are causing.

Need to remove all the incentives and encourage the correct behaviors.

Follow per-country quotas, regardless of entry mode. Once full, reject all others.

Remove automatic citizenship by birth location if either parent is illegally inside the USA.

If low-skilled labor is desired (poltical question), then allow 1 yr visa requests, but only from external US consulates. Only allow the workers, not their families.

Make employers pay 3x in fines for using/hiring illegal workers. Put in place a bounty for reporting and a fine for mis-reporting. We don't want people being harassed unnecessarily.

So we shouldn't try to do anything. That is what the dems are causing.

That's the right-wing stance towards gun control. We can't entirely eliminate guns, so we should do nothing.
