The coup attempts by the swamp continue.

Good. It’s worth the time and effort to toss him out. Unfortunately, the spineless senate would again refuse to hear evidence.

If they want to reclaim any ounce of respect or dignity they would hear it. Impeachment is a peace offering from the Dems.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

He needs to go to jail and hopefully that will happen when he is no longer President.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

Anyone who cares one whit about the republic knows that Trump and his followers present the greatest risk the country's seen in modern times.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Now that the election is over, Georgia is blur for now, and they lost the two senate seats, Republican lawmakers and the vice president now want to do and say the right things. They are as much to blame for this as Trump. They encouraged him and went along with it because they were worried about losing two senate seats or their other reelection bids.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

Let's just get this out of the way before the false equivalency crowd gets a foothold...

Biden's comments condemning violence during the protests earlier this year on the left:

"People have a right to be, in fact, angry and frustrated. And more violence, hurting more people, isn’t going to answer the question."

“But burning down communities and needless destruction is not. Violence that endangers lives is not. Violence that guts and shutters businesses that serve the community is not.”

"There is no place for violence, no place for looting or destroying property or burning churches or destroying businesses. We need to distinguish between legitimate peaceful protest and opportunistic violent destruction."

"Peaceful protesters should be protected – but arsonists and anarchists should be prosecuted – and local law enforcement can do that."

"The deadly violence we saw overnight in Portland is unacceptable. Shooting in the streets of a great American city is unacceptable. I condemn this violence unequivocally."

Donald Trump to protesters/rioters yesterday:

"We love you, you're very special."

21 ( +23 / -2 )

The fact that the Republicans haven't strongly followed suit shows how deep Trump's swamp actually is.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

Then lets get started. It needs to be done or he will pardon the traitors.

It should've been done last night. And the Congress needs to move forward with a rapid impeachment and conviction in the Senate regardless of what Pence does. Get EVERY Republican senator on the record once again. Traitors.

Decades from now, finding a red MAGA hat in your dead Uncle or Aunt's attic trunk will be as shameful as finding Nazi memorabilia or a KKK hood.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

US capitol is a the highest symbol of american democracy,

This very important symbol was attacked by supporters manupilated by Trump lies.

President or not, no citizen can remain above the low.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Even before Biden has even been sworned in, he's divided the country labelling protesters terrorists. No looting, no rioting, mostly just grass roots anger at Washington sweeping things under the carpet.

The people who broke into the Capitol yesterday were committing an act of terror. They were politely called insurrectionists. They could also be called traitors and terrorists easily.

As for no looting, no rioting... that was a riot. There was looting. As for the grass roots anger, it's anger built off of a base of lies and fertilized by a cult of personality and watered by an eagerly rabid far-right 'media' that peddles lies and fairy tales for mere profit.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Looking forward to his arrest. But I can wait until after Biden's inauguration. No pardons for trump.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Trump is now in Camp David or about to be. No one knows why he's there and not in his usual retreat Mar a Lago but he's seeking an advice about how to pardon himself. No one knows until when he will stay there either. The presidential details should be always keenly be aware of his whereabout because his only option to escape all the impending charges against him is to go to Central America and eventually to Russia.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Trump should be in jail for the rest of his life. Love you!

10 ( +13 / -3 )

He’ll beg to stay. Tough guy locker room talk is over. He’s scared.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Trump is pretty much isolated and has been abandoned by most of the people around him. Reliable sources have indicated Pence has severed ties and they have stopped communicating. The best thing to do is count days to the innauguration which Pence will attend and I imagine Trump will not.

@Superlib: Very well stated. Biden did condemn the looters and rioters and those that stormed the Capitol were looters and rioters as well. Trump's reaction was not unexpected.

I cannot reiterate enough: The way Trump acted during the last 2 months, doing absolutely nothing at all while Covid was rampaging through the U.S., is the worst thing I have seen a President do in my lifetime. His lack of leadership and complete disregard for the country in the last 2 months of his Presidency are worse than what happened in Washington D.C. and that lack of action fully exposes what he is.

Invoking the 25th Amendment or acting to impeach would be like throwing gasoline on the fire at this point.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

Trump isn't going to jail for his indiscretions as president. He should, but he also should have been removed as president for, conservatively, at least five other times throughout his presidency. I thought America had hit its rock bottom, but the silence from the Republicans on 25ing 45 says it all. For the sake of power, they'll ride it out until the very end.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

The coup attempts by the swamp continue.

Give us a break. This is not a coup. What Trump thugs did yesterday was an attempt at a coup. Not a competent one, I grant you, but an attempted coup nonetheless.

The Democrats won the election and are taking over in a few days anyway, this isn’t some power grab. Its the result of Trump telling a violent mob of his own making to physically attack the legislative branch of the United States government in order to prevent it from fulfilling its constitutional function. He doesn’t get a pass for that, sorry.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Trump now realizes he went too far when he sicced his supporters on the self-serving denizens of the two houses of misrule that for over 50 years of indifference and neglect created 74,000,000+ disaffected Americans who, led by a consummate con-man, have woken up from their "American Dream" to find themselves lost in a country they don't recognize and living lives of quiet desperation. This "March on the Capitol" should be a wake-up for honest politicians to take radical steps to dismantle the bloated plutocracy that America has become, including the immediate removal of the incompetent "pied piper" who led millions to follow him over the cliff.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

And when he's gone, lock him up immediately. And you have to love the morons saying, "There's only 12 days left... we just have to grin and bear it." Same people who said, "Just let him have his moment... what harm can it do?"

And of course, he and others are now saying it was not Trump supporters but Antifa that did this. Pathetic cowards.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Trump should be impeached but also convicted and jailed. For, like Trump shouted about the Portland protesters, 15 years. For inciting a riot, for sedition, for treason. For trying to destroy the world’s greatest democracy. Any other proof needed he’s a loser?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

The “let’s move on, put it behind us, it’ll just do more damage etc” voices should be ignored. Same voices that say we shouldn’t discuss gun control after mass shootings.

Get him out, impeach him again.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Trump is only half of the problem.... he will be gone in two weeks. The real problem is the millions who “believe” in his cult and worse, the spineless republicans hoping to gain their support.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

@Cracaphat: At this point in time I’m not so sure Pence would pardon Trump. I read an earlier article this morning that numerous resignations occurred yesterday from the Trump administration. I think a line was crossed and Trump and Pence may no longer be on the same side of the line.

It is absolutely amazing and unprecedented I believe.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Invoking the 25th Amendment or acting to impeach would be like throwing gasoline on the fire at this point.

The basis of logic for all enablers.

If you don't punish, there's no motive not to do it again. By anyone.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

People have been saying all along "what can he do? Vote him out if you don't like it". So they voted him out - and look what he did. Just think of what he could do - he's got the nuclear codes. "But he wouldn't do that" they say.

This is a man who in the past week alone threatened an official to "find" votes that don't exist, then incited sedition upon the capital building in order to prevent the results of a duly run election by being certified by the duly elected representatives.

A week before that, whenever such an idea was put forward as what he might do, people said "but he wouldn't do that."

In fact, his entire presidency has been a series of "but he wouldn't do that" moments, followed by him doing that.

Trump has brought the 'hold my beer' mentality to presidenting. And some don't want to put out the fire, by claiming that gasoline is the only thing that can be poured upon it.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

@Strangerland: I can see the last part of your post was directed at me. As an American as much as I disdain Trump I believe the best course of action is to let him cower in place. I would rather not have a repeat of what happened in D.C. (and is happening on other states by the way).

There are mechanisms in place which would prevent him from doing anything to create major damage, especially during the lame duck period. Trump knows he is done. He tipped his hand yesterday. For those that want true "revenge" the best action is to do nothing right now.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Had the political establishment/mainstream/social media ignored, so turning their back on Donald Trump Presidency, Trump would have just faded away into insignificant obscurity.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with all their political posturing and grandstanding, has made the Harris/Biden ticket doubly difficult to unite an increasing divided country.

The success of the new administration, must be focused on a platform of national unity, to build political consensus to bring calm, trust within communities.

How on earth did this mob of rabble rousers, one resembling a horned Davy Crockett look alike, manage to just waltz into the capitol, senate chamber etc requesting police selfies, unabated?

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

And now the right is blaming yesterdays seditious attack on the capital, on Pelosi and OAC.

Nancy Pelosi is responsible for everytime a seditionist attacked the capital in the history of America. Except for the times OAC is responsible for, which is all of them.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

There are mechanisms in place which would prevent him from doing anything to create major damage, especially during the lame duck period.

There are supposedly mechanisms in place for all the things Trump definitely wouldn't do and did. And there were always people who didn't want to throw gasoline on the fire who excused away the usage of those mechanisms.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

There are mechanisms in place which would prevent him from doing anything to create major damage, especially during the lame duck period.

I’d have hoped there would be mechanisms in place to present a mob of rioters from storming the Capitol.

There are definitely mechanisms in place to remove a dangerous President though.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

@Bob

I’d have hoped there would be mechanisms in place to present a mob of rioters from storming the Capitol.

Me too. This obviously has larger national security implications. Right now I believe a fence is being constructed. It will be interesting to see what changes are made in the future.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Having the right complexion helped,no?

One does have to question why the rows of masked and armed police on the steps of the capitol seen when the protestors were black, were not seen when the protestors were white.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Should Trump be removed under the 25th Amendment immediately?

The guy that has the nuclear codes for the next two weeks can't be trusted with his own Twitter or Facebook account....

Does that answer the question?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

In all the hullabaloo, the foolish irrational canonization of theatrical evil demon Trump, a modern-day political Saruman, gloved handed. poised over the orb Is beyond paranoiac parody.

It offers, provides a plinth/platform for Donald Trump to continue to breed/propagate discontent, to sow division.

While the House could quickly vote to impeach Trump, it is extremely unlikely that Congress could remove the president in the next 13 days. The Senate would have to receive the articles and then hold a trial and vote on them.

Why on earth purse/attempt a course of action that would offer Trump the oxygen of publicity to remain front center when the focus of attention must be the future Harris/Biden Presidency.

It is the creation of a political cleft stick either end can beat you to death.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Trump is a narcissistic psychopath and it's extremely dangerous that he has the nuclear codes. Some might say there's only 12 days to go but Trump has nothing to lose. He knows he'll most likely be going to prison for one reason and/or another so he will do anything to change the subject. Pence needs to grow a pair and do what needs to be done.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

He loves them and thinks that they're special.

His daughter thinks they're patriots.

And the pantomime patriots, themselves? They believe that they are the "only hope" for the world. They are "proud" at their actions.

Look them up, these names, if you're not already familiar. Nick Fuentes, Vincent James Foxx, Jaden McNeil, Brien James. These are your heroes; holocaust deniers. Racists. White nationalists. Nazis.

The rest of us can just stare, in mounting horror, at what the US has become under Trump and his enablers.

Wake up. For all our sakes.

Impeach or not, him and his enablers should never serve in politics again.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I am not more right than Donald Trump is left, Strangerland.

Donald Trump Presidency is the preverbal pythonesque dead parrot, whilst the establishment/mainstream/social media constantly attempts nail the politically moth eaten psittacine back up on the perch.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

What else does the man have to do to actually remove him? Good lord.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Well, this WAS a mostly peaceful protest. Only a small handful of agitators behaved violently, and many of them were probably agent provocateur types snuck in by Antifa.

-18 ( +1 / -19 )

Trump face indictment, maybe he resigned and avoiding an indictment like a cornered rat, no where to go

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Let the first 100 days of Harris/Biden take their course, the pandemic, develop policy agenda, bring calm, hope and positivity.

Then deal with Donald Trump's legacy.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

To have an *inauguration ceremony* for the 46th president of the United States whilst conducting impeachment of the 45th will unnecessarily divert media attention away from much need change.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Let the first 100 days of Harris/Biden take their course, the pandemic, develop policy agenda, bring calm, hope and positivity.

Then deal with Donald Trump's legacy.

100 days? Why not 99 or 120?

There is no moving forward without ending his legacy right now. Not 100 days later.

If he is not removed, there will be more violence. You do not brush aside something of this magnitude. Lock him up and all the simpletons who broke the law yesterday.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

From Mitt Romney's speech yesterday:

“We gather today due to a selfish man’s injured pride and the outrage of his supporters whom he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. What happened here today was an insurrection, incited by the President of the United States. Those who choose to continue to support his dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of a legitimate, democratic election will forever be seen as being complicit in an unprecedented attack against our democracy. They will be remembered for their role in this shameful episode in American history. That will be their legacy.

The objectors have claimed they are doing so on behalf of the voters. Have an audit, they say, to satisfy the many people who believe that the election was stolen. Please! No Congressional led audit will ever convince those voters, particularly when the President will continue to claim that the election was stolen. The best way we can show respect for the voters who are upset is by telling them the truth. That is the burden, and the duty, of leadership."

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Well, this WAS a mostly peaceful protest. Only a small handful of agitators behaved violently, and many of them were probably agent provocateur types snuck in by Antifa.

False.

As the events were unfolding, many social media users, especially those associated with QAnon and supporters of President Trump, were claiming that agitators from the loose-knit left-wing group antifa were involved. The implication was that these activists were disguised as Trump supporters to create disruption. A number of prominent Republican politicians, such as US Representative Matt Gaetz, claimed it was antifa masquerading as Trump supporters. One widely-shared post claimed one protester had a "communist hammer" tattoo, as evidence that he wasn't a Trump supporter. On closer inspection, the symbol is from the video game series Dishonored. There have also been suggestions that Mr Angeli, the man wearing fur and horns, was a Black Lives Matter supporter, with users sharing an image of him at a BLM event in Arizona. Mr Angeli was indeed at that event, but he was there as a counter-protester. In images taken there, he's seen holding a QAnon sign.

https://www.bbc.com/news/55572805

Oust Trump, please, but the promoters of falsehoods won't stop. That is something that has to be tackled.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Well, this WAS a mostly peaceful protest. Only a small handful of agitators behaved violently, and many of them were probably agent provocateur types snuck in by Antifa.

And there you have it. Zero willingness to accept responsibility for a president who incited his people to violence against the capital where duly elected officials were performing their duty in certifying the results of a non-fraudulent democratic election.

As far as they're concerned, it's the fault of Antifa and BLM.

Because of these people's continued insistence on accepting that their ideology is a failure on the level of Communism, America has not hit its rock bottom yet. No, the end has just begun. These people are about to ensure it gets a lot, lot darker. If they can't have power, they'll burn it all down.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Unless Trump is removed by the 25th amendment we can expect (1) an even worse riot and acts of sedition on January 20th and beyond, which may include actual bombings and (2) Trump will push through a self-pardon.

Yes, if the 25th is invoked Pence could pardon Trump, but I am hoping that by then Pence will realize that would be political suicide. His refusal to accomodate Trump's demand to reject the Electotal Colleges votes shows that he is not prepared to kill himself for his boss.

Trump and his goons are too dangerous to leave alone until Jan 20th. And there is risk past that date. The monster needs to be beheaded no matter what.

As far as I am concerned, every person who broke into the Capitol Building on Jan 6th is a terrorist and an Enemy of the United States, and Donald J. Trump lead, incited and approved their action. Trump absolutely must be brought to take responsibility.

The country, along with the world, is in a Pandemic Crisis. This nonsense from Trump and the hordes he has mobilized are the last thing we need.

For 4 years our country has become numb to Trump's continuous lies. Perhaps now the country will wake up to the danger that continous lies can create. Like everyone else I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime and never expected to. The country must ensure that it never ever happens again.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Bob, the first one hundred days of a new US administration are politicaly/historically symbolic.

Fast Facts on the “First 100 Days”

https://www.history.com/news/fast-facts-on-the-first-100-days

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Prosecuting criminals and following the law is also rather historically symbolic.

A little more so that hand-wringing procrastination from weak apologists.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Trump's thugs = WLM White Lives Matter and were given a free hand by the law enforcement agencies.

Sorry to disturb you as you post the same message over and over. Please go ahead and watch all of the protesters from yesterday then come back and tell me about how the entire crowd was white. You dismissing Trump supporters as all white is in itself racist.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Lawmakers openly discuss ousting Trump, possible impeachment

When have they not be attempting to impeach him? Will Biden enjoy the same?

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

Find the violent ones and arrest them. But the vast majority of those who entered the Capitol weren't violent. They were merely occupying the space. It was their only way to be heard. It was the equivalent of protestors blocking a highway or occupying a park.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Sorry to disturb you as you post the same message over and over. Please go ahead and watch all of the protesters from yesterday then come back and tell me about how the entire crowd was white.

I spent the day watching it on the news. I don't recall any people of color. I'm sure there were a few there. But the idea that they were there in any kind of numbers at all is as silly as taking Trump's claims of his inauguration numbers as reality.

I think we've moved beyond that pretense.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

When have they not be attempting to impeach him? Will Biden enjoy the same?

Ahh, so you guys played obstructionist to Obama for eight years, and whined when it happened back. Seems you learned your lesson in why you shouldn't burn everything down for your ideology.

Oh, wait, I just re-read your quote. My bad. Complete opposite.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

All those who think Pence has finally discovered morals, he hasn't.

Pence's anger was more to do with the fact that his family was at the Capitol when it was attacked, he doesn't care for the rest of Americans.

I seriously doubt the immoral GOP will back Article 25, most of them are in power because of the bigots, and will not stand up to them.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

But the vast majority of those who entered the Capitol weren't violent. They were merely occupying the space. It was their only way to be heard.

Thought the far right believed in law and order and respecting the Constitution, buildings and monuments?

So very dishonest of them, this constant twisting the agenda to suit, innit.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Likely not because Biden won’t do things that are impeachable.

Well let's not forget, they can't impeach Biden, because they're losers, and they lost the presidency, they lost the house, and they lost the senate. If it walks like a loser, supports a loser, and loses everything their is to lose, it's a Loser. With a capital L.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Find the violent ones and arrest them. But the vast majority of those who entered the Capitol weren't violent. They were merely occupying the space.

Oh so NOW suddenly there is a difference between the protestors and the rioters, when said people are white. Hmmm....

11 ( +13 / -2 )

I spent the day watching it on the news. I don't recall any people of color. I'm sure there were a few there. But the idea that they were there in any kind of numbers at all is as silly as taking Trump's claims of his inauguration numbers as reality.

"11% of African Americans, 31% of Hispanics and 30% of Asian Americans voted for Trump, up 3 percentage points from 2016 among all three groups." From Reuters. Still can't find the link though of Trump being best friends with a KKK leader though. Oh wait, it was that other guy.

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

"11% of African Americans, 31% of Hispanics and 30% of Asian Americans voted for Trump

...he puts forward, somehow lacking the reasoning to realize that this doesn't prove apples to bananas about the racial breakdown of the rioters at the capitol yesterday.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Try to stay on topic. You started it, don’t wander.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Trump knows he is done. He tipped his hand yesterday.

I appreciate your level-headedness, but I will never believe a single thing Trump says.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Trump just released a new video claiming we need to be peaceful and come together. He even mentioned love. Nice words. But then of course he adds that he was "defending Democracy for the American people" which means he continues to spread the same lie that started this mess.

Just like a Twitter statement he released today from Dan Scavino's account. "Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th."

And there it is again. The lie. Peace. Love. Come together. Orderly transition. I was robbed and your anger is justified.

He's still adding fuel to the fire.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

If you illegally enter a place where you are not allowed, you are already a criminal.

In America people of a certain color can get shot if they jog on a public road far from their home.

The fact that these bigots were allowed to enter, destroy property and helped by the police in getting out is shameful!!!

6 ( +8 / -2 )

He's still adding fuel to the fire.

But you don't understand. The democrats pointed out that Hillary won the popular vote for four years. Four! It's goddamn blasphemy.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Atilla: They were merely occupying the space.

Tell that to the civilians who had to be quickly evacuated out for their safety. I'm sure they'd have some strong words for you.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

11% of African Americans, 31% of Hispanics and 30% of Asian Americans voted for Trump

Is this a boast or an admission of failure?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Absolutely shocking, but unfortunately not surprising. Since being impeached but then let off the hook by the Republicans, Trump had become more and more erratic. It was only a matter of time until he reached the point of no return. The Republicans who enabled him - Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz et all - were also complicit.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Well, this WAS a mostly peaceful protest. Only a small handful of agitators behaved violently, and many of them were probably agent provocateur types snuck in by Antifa.

Not familiar or never been inside a cult? Read this post...

It's the perfect example of the outright denial of reality and blind devotion that happens once you sip the kook-aid...

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Remember when Nixon was impeached? He had enough brains to resign.

Remember when Clinton was impeached? All for being kinky with extra-marital affairs in the WH.

Trump has already been impeached for far worse crimes than either of them, and for some reason we're still counting them as he goes. The GOP enabled this monster. They could have cleaned their hands of him over a year ago... But nope. 1/6/21 could have been prevented a LONG TIME ago... but they willfully did NOTHING.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Don’t get your knickers in a twist. You asked for it.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Someone needs a hug.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Lincolnman. Simple math- how many people were at the protest? Of that group, how many entered the Capitol? Of that group, how many were violent?

From what I read, the original protest was upwards of 50,000 people. Of them, some hundreds entered the Captiol. The rest were peaceful. Hence it was a mostly peaceful protest.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Pretty darn good for a guy that you and your media calls a white supremacist.

Celebrating failure is becoming routine for Trump supporters. A drowning man will clutch at any straw. I suppose there isn't anything else left to celebrate after 4 years of abject incompetence, corruption and failure.

But fear not, he loves you. You're special.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Apply that same logic to everything you complained about last summer. See?

Interesting logic - so since all of Al Queda didn't participate in the 9/11 attacks, only 11 - you must think that was a peaceful protest...

As if we didn't need another example of life in the cult...

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Find the violent ones and arrest them. But the vast majority of those who entered the Capitol weren't violent. They were merely occupying the space.

They broke into the building. They smashed windows, vaulted barricades and overwhelmed police. That’s a bit more serious than loitering.

Lincolnman. Simple math- how many people were at the protest? Of that group, how many entered the Capitol? Of that group, how many were violent?

Says the party who tried to claim the BLM protestors are terrorists.

Now suddenly they see a distinction.

Is there anything these people aren't blatantly hypocritical about? Honest question.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Since some people keep bringing up some kind of false equivalence between the BLM protests and the attack on the US government building, I thought I'd point out that of the 7,750 BLM protests in the US, 93% were entirely peaceful. Most of the ones overseas were entirely peaceful too.

https://time.com/5886348/report-peaceful-protests/

It seems like some questionable news sources have convinced some people that they were all violent riots and that those violent riots were somehow all the work of some evil 'antifa' organization that has the power and members to create riots in every state.

Never mind the fact that some people don't seem to be able to see the difference between disparate groups of citizens protesting about a single human rights issue VS the president of the USA encouraging supporters to try to undo the entire democratic process.

In a democracy we are free to disagree on issues and even protest about those issues, but never before have people tried to actually block the entire democratic process itself.

Now off the top of your head, please list some of your favorite Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon quotes to make my day even brighter!

I have no idea who those people are. Are they important? Did they also try to organize assaults on democracy?

Atillathehungry, July 28:

IF the BLM movement would stick to principles of non-violence and anti-racism, they would get more broad support. However, they are morphing into more of a general far left hate group. Plus threatening basic institutions like the family won't win them any support.

I don't see any differentiation there between rioters and protestors. Yet suddenly this is the most important thing in his world, is establishing that the rioters and protestors are different people.

Anyone want to guess why his attitude changed between those protests and the others? I'm sure it can't be because of the race of the protestors.

Maybe they were the BLM Rioters. Or was it the BLM protestors? Hard to say, because unless the 'protestors' are white, the right doesn't make a distinction.

Find the violent ones and arrest them. But the vast majority of those who entered the Capitol weren't violent. They were merely occupying the space.

Hmm. Is it usually okay for random citizens to just stroll into the Capitol with no ID or appointment? The police and security officers are cool with that?

It was their only way to be heard.

How about making YouTube videos, posting comments here, or-... radical idea - voting in the next election or even running for office? That's the usual way to be heard in a democracy, isn't it?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The idea that somehow, the right wing are not being heard, is ludicrous. To claim otherwise is disingenuous.

The right are heard each and every day, online, on the radio, in print and in constant, never ending debate. On YouTube, Twitter, FB, Parler, Gab, 8chan...

Their agenda, voices, opinions and demands have never been more mainstream.

Whether or not Trump is impeached, jailed, exiled etc... their voices aren't going to just fade away.

Unfortunately.

The idea that somehow, the right wing are not being heard, is ludicrous. To claim otherwise is disingenuous.

The problem isn't that they aren't being heard isn't their problem, it's that the people won't listen to how mean it was that the left pointed out that Hillary won the popular vote, for four years. Four. Years.

Here's a video of the result of the Trump protestors:

Maybe Americans would listen to them if they learned to protest in the right way. You know, the way they say people must protest - at home, in a dark room, where no one can see or hear.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

You can't remove him now, because Pence would pardon him.

That is not true. A Senate conviction after a House impeachment is the one crime no President can pardon. The fellows who wrote the US Constitution were not naive.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Strangerland, you are absolutely wrong. I say that anyone who committed crimes at the Capitol, destroyed property, etc., should be arrested and charged. I want the same standards for ALL protests. My point was that the protests that happened last summer were largely given a pass by the media and the left side of the political spectrum.

I was merely applying the same logic here to see how it fit. I don't like there to be a double standard.

As for the right wing not being heard, that is a different topic. When the entertainment industry, the education industry, the media, and big tech are all overwhelmingly supporting one side of the political spectrum, it is hard for the other side to be heard. This is a glaring weakness of conservatives. We are not very good at building institutions or swaying them. We have perhaps unjustified confidence in the power of the individual to persuade and argue.

Celebrating failure is becoming routine for Trump supporters.

Reminds me of Raiders fans !

And yet, when it was BLM, they were all rioters. You never made that distinction.

Hmmmm, and then you try to claim you're not hyperpartisan.

I'm not sure why you think we don't remember that literally every one of your posts over the past four years has been in support of Trump, his policies, and owning liberals.

I seriously doubt the immoral GOP will back Article 25, most of them are in power because of the bigots, and will not stand up to them.

It appears that Ms. Pelosi is going to put the Senate Republicans on the spot and force them to take a stand, or prove their cowardice. She gave Mr. Pence and the Cabinet 24 hours to invoke Article 25 or the House will drop and impeachment on Mr. Trump. So far they have not even acknowledged her challenge. The Articles of Impeachment are supposedly being drafted now by none other than Ilhan Omar. I have to imagine Ms. Pelosi could have an impeachment over and done with in the House before lunch. After that it would be up to the Senate. This will be a real moment of truth for the Republican Party. I have low expectations btw, but the Republicans very much need to have this thrust in front of them and be forced to either take a principled stand to protect our democratic institutions or be shown for the cowards I believe they probably are. I hope I'm wrong, but .................

Oh really. I didn't think Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity or indeed Donald Trump himself had any problems getting their messages across.

That laughter you hear in the background is Rupert Murdock, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mr Pillow Guy...

You just quite accurately described the power of the demagogue and his blinded cult followers...

Well done...

Pence's anger was more to do with the fact that his family was at the Capitol when it was attacked, he doesn't care for the rest of Americans.

I don't know if this is really true but the story being told in the press is that Mr. Trump savagely berated Mr. Pence for refusing to arbitrarily throw out the electoral votes of the four states where there was challenges were planned. I haven't yet found an account of exactly what was said but apparently it was so harsh Mr. Pence and Mr. Trump are no longer on speaking terms.

It's an intervention for America. She's forcing them to say out loud whether they've hit their rock bottom, and accept that they need to go to rehab, or whether rock bottom is another few administrations deep.

It will show who stands for democracy or fascism. After yesterday's evil stunt there's no justification oe excusing Trump's behavior. This is a Biblical seperating of the sheep from the goats.

The clock is ticking, Pence and Co. Are you keep on kissing fascist fanny or are you going to take a stand for freedom? Article 25 or another impeachment, the choice is up to YOU.

After yesterday Trump has proven once and for all that he is NOT fit for office for a single day longer. He must be removed NOW. One way or another.

They have also posted Islamophobic posts on YouTube as well, treating Muslims as if they were a 'race', just like Hitler said about Jews. I don't care who is the target in those hate posts, they don't belong on social media. And Rubbish Limberger and his ilk have been stirring up seething hatred, leading to violence - for years.

And as for the statues issue - it's time to be truthful in our education and quit raising generations of ignoramuses and idiots. Christopher Columbus was no hero. Our history books in America are full of ****.

They don't have a clue what debate or compromise is and as such they're not fit for social gatherings or a democratic nation.

Just give him some chicken mcnuggets, fritos and root beer.

Sit him in the back room, let him tweet all day and lock the door.

Then let him out in two weeks.
