Lawn sign theft is a criminal offense in most states but it is seldom prosecuted

the exact problem.

It’s a crime, prosecute it. Both sides and all people.

Airtag in the sign was genius

There is also a problem with people putting sings in lawns that are not even their own property.

Lol, I put one on my lawn

Just shows the state of the States atm.

A window on the broken system, in the supposedly leading democracy in the world, that just oozes division, intolerance and downright nonsensical pantomime.

Us vs Them is a theme in politics the world over, but the inability of supporters as well as politicians to display any sense of moderation or diplomacy and respect towards others, just reveals the infantile nature of it all.

Stealing / defacing signs to the tune of 1,000s across many states must make folks in other countries laugh.

Like - get a handle.

The US does not do civil, calm and orderly democracy.

They should be learning about how to conduct themselves from just about every other democracy.

"They said they know where she lives and where she works," the 49-year-old told AFP from his home in Fairfax, Virginia, where a single sign now remains with a picture of Trump raising his fist after surviving a July assassination attempt.

Used to live in Fairfax VA, Metro Orange Line.

It is the wealthiest place in the nation most people don't know. All part of the DC government contractor archipelago.

Don't believe for a minute Trump is against a 'Deep State' and oppressive bureaucracy and the military industrial complex.

He and his cronies just want to take it over.

Guess we will have to console ourselves with being the only G7 country with a future, economically.

Eastmann

USA is completely lost country.

> deeply divided and without any common values-except MONEY.

Compared with Russia where people are imprisoned for their free speech. At least 140 individuals were sentenced to prison for statements, protests, or other activities opposing the war.

So like every other country in the world.

Which the Dems love.

Don't believe for a minute Trump is against a 'Deep State'

That’s ok, we know he is though

and oppressive bureaucracy and the military industrial complex.

And?

He and his cronies just want to take it over.

Well, isn’t that the idea of running for office? I mean….

Hurtt agreed: "It has a chilling effect on political speech."

To be real about it, US political lawn signs are easier to ignore than the Japanese election trucks and loudspeakers rolling around early on Sunday morning.

Political speech along with this 'religious speech' and corporate speech has been extended to give cults and corporations power to use their ill-gotten cash reserves to control 'democracy'.

Citizens United needs to be overturned.

A friend in Portland commented to me that America is getting closer to a civil war. To his family Trump is horrible and Kamala isn't much better. There is no candidate that they WANT to support and vote for.

This article and many before it shows the divide politics causes now in the US. It seems the very worst people are foreigners coming to the US and closely followed by Americans that vote for "the other side".

Teamwork and cooperation has all but disappeared from US politics. What was once a strength in America has been picked apart and made into a weakness. Helped and fueled by competing foreign ideologies who would love to see America fall. Dress up as friends and whisper ideas and conspiracies into the ears of those who will soak them up and pass them on with embellishments. Point to other Americans who look a little different or act different or those with different needs and values and make them the great enemy of America.

The greatest losers in all of this is America itself, and all its wonderful people. Being in the middle of it makes it almost impossible for Americans to see clearly.

At the end of the day Americans should remember to love America and other Americans, even if they are different. That has made America great for so long, having people from everywhere bringing new ideas and abilities to the melting pot where others can find a new way to get the most from these different abilities and ideas. Why destroy what made America so formidable? Why tear down what so many admire and strive for themselves?

Find the one who understands the value of difference and embraces all Americans for their potential.

They are just lawn signs. Nothing more than misdemeanors mentioned here.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

having people from everywhere bringing new ideas and abilities to the melting pot

correct! People who are chosen by us for their potential contributions and who apply and are accepted by us after a rigorous vetting process (“legal immigration”)

Blacklabel,

A shame that you'd be downvoted for that, but there we are. I agree with you that perpetrators of crime should be punished accordingly, and gave you an upvote.

It’s a crime, prosecute it. Both sides and all people.

Yeah, It sounds simple.

“just a misdemeanor, so what?”

it’s a crime. If it’s not, change the law.

What message are we sending to our citizens and kids? Just ignore laws that aren’t “important”?

that’s why we have the mess we have. Selective prosecution where some law is applied and some not. to some but not all.

that was a huge issue on the left when I was there. Now they just want it applied to “the other side”. Sad.

The only thing weirder than people stealing political signs from lawns is weirdos having political slogans on their lawns in the first place.

Americans need to get over their fawning love of super rich politicians. It's weak and pathetic.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

The media is to blame to create the fanaticism on both sides.
