When children are just a pawn to further your regressive agenda, you know how much you’ve fallen.

desantis and Florida obviously have a problem in protecting children and it’s time for a change.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

On the other hand, parents who don't want their children to wear a mask can send their kids to school without one.

They can keep their children at home, if you don’t wear a mask you risk infecting others and it’s extremely selfish and cowardly to do that.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

The ignorant parents who are forcing their children not to wear masks, are obviously not capable of teaching them much.

We are risking bringing up a generation permanently scarred by ignorance.

What about mandated antivirus injections - those against mumps, rubella, etc.? Should they be abolished as well? I don't see where this ends.

He pointed to Florida’s skyrocketing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations since the delta variant took hold in June, including among children. Several Florida children’s hospitals have recently reported that they have more COVID patients than any time previously.

Florida’s skyrocketing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations will be the legacy of DeSantis, a politician putting the health of Florida's children at risk in order to get more credibility within the QGOP, especially the extreme far right Florida-man portion of the QGOP, and perhaps get more invitations to play golf at Mar-a Lago with 45 who bungled the pandemic and put the lives of Americans at risk, especially those lacking adequate healthcare.

The US Republican Party is billing DeSantis as 'America's governor', maybe to replace wacked out Rudy Giuliani, who before he became a Trump sycophant was billed as 'America's Mayor'. DeSantis has better hair than Rudy, and probably does not need to use black shoe polish to color it.

The Trump led QGOP is bent on undermining US systems, as they try to eliminate election provisions that make it easier for the general public to vote (voting is a fundamental feature of most democratic systems). They want a plutocracy led by Trump and his white nationalist followers.

This week, an average of 227 COVID deaths have been reported each day in Florida, which has a population that is 1/6 that of Japan. In contrast, Japan reported 52 COVID deaths yesterday. People complain about the Japanese government’s mismanagement, but imagine how bad it would be here if the Republicans were in charge.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

901 people died of COVID in Florida yesterday.

They did not die in a war or an accident, they died because their governor wants to be the next President!

Florida’s skyrocketing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations will be the legacy of DeSantis,

Newsom is also going to have a bad legacy for sure.

https://www.sfchronicle.com/health/article/These-charts-show-just-how-fast-COVID-cases-are-16358299.php

a politician putting the health of Florida's children at risk in order to get more credibility within the QGOP,

He already has credibility, good thing the hospitalization rates are going down and since kids recover faster than adults from this virus they’ll be in a much better shape to deal with this virus.

The US Republican Party is billing DeSantis as 'America's governor', maybe to replace wacked out Rudy Giuliani,

NYC became one of the safest cities in the country because of this so called wacked out guy.

The Trump led QGOP is bent on undermining US systems, as they try to eliminate election provisions that make it easier for the general public to vote (voting is a fundamental feature of most democratic systems).

No, they made the system easier, too easy actually. If you don’t have ID no problem. All you need is your social and since all legal Americans have one, shouldn’t be a problem and as long as you can verify who you are and your residence matches your personal info you can even vote by mail.

They want a plutocracy led by Trump and his white nationalist followers.

What about blacks and Latinos particularly the Cubans and Haitians that voted for Trump and DeSantis in high numbers, how are they white nationalists?

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Possible.

It's also possible that they died with Covid.

They died of COVID, not possible! They did.

600,000 Americans die every year of heart disease, about 560,000 die from pneumonia.

Are you saying it’s fine for people to die of COVID?

10 ( +10 / -0 )

since kids recover faster than adults from this virus they’ll be in a much better shape to deal with this virus.

You still don't understand. Kids spread it to adults. And kids who don't wear masks spread it at far higher rates.

As you yourself said at the beginning of this pandemic, follow the science, not the politics.

the governor has the authority to side with parents who believe it is their right to decide what is best for their children and not school boards or other parents, Abel argued.

Not if it puts other children and their relatives at greater risk.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

“Despite that reality, despite all of the science, the governor has sought to insert himself into matters of local health concerns and impede the ability of school boards to do what they are constitutionally mandated to do, which is to operate and control their schools,”

Gov helmet hair doubles down on the stupid. He’s going to lose.

Some think him to be all-powerful. He won by a razor-thin 32,000 votes. Let’s see how the needless mass deaths affect his campaign. Didn’t work out too well for his roll model.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The government knows best and has been right on Covid all along.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I don't think Desantis is forbidding anybody from wearing a mask. If parents are concerned, they can have their children wear a mask.

That line of thought falls apart when one asks what about parents concerned about other children not wearing masks and infecting their child. I have a 1st grader so this is real to me. In fact I am about to write a formal complaint to my state Department of Education because despite statewide requirements for teachers, staff and students to wear masks at school at all times, many are not. As a parent I feel strongly you have an obligation to do everything possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19. You have no right to do otherwise. That means wearing a facemask and social distancing at all times. Your potentially sick kid has no right to get other kids infected. That is the point of making kids wear masks, to prevent them from spreading their germs to others.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

You still don't understand. Kids spread it to adults. And kids who don't wear masks spread it at far higher rates.

So then in California vaccinated people are getting the virus from Kids? So that’s why the numbers are rising….

As you yourself said at the beginning of this pandemic, follow the science, not the politics.

You’re right. Thats why I just made that statement.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I don't think Desantis is forbidding anybody from wearing a mask. If parents are concerned, they can have their children wear a mask.

On the other hand, parents who don't want their children to wear a mask can send their kids to school without one.

Parents are primarily concerned of their own child being infected. Wearing a mask doesn't protect yourself but your height of protection DOES increase when everyone around you wears one. This is even stated in the article. Please consider this in your argument.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If you want a society where zero risk is mandated it's going to be a prison for all of us.

Is it fine for surgeons and staff not to wear masks while performing surgery? I am sure freedom applies to them too, even if it means the patient can die of infection?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Possible.

It's also possible that they died with Covid.

600,000 Americans die every year of heart disease, about 560,000 die from pneumonia.

Whether those 901 people you referred to would be alive today if we all complied with your wishes is doubtful.

Many people die 'with' Covid because Covid causes Pneumonia! You can't ignore the fact that people die from this disease, or the organ failures directly caused by this disease. In a two week or so span of incidences of when a patient does have Covid, but they die of other causes which has nothing to do with Covid, I would think would be very minimal and it's not a very strong point to use in an argument of the dangers of Covid 19. We're all in this together, and you'd think this war against this terrible disease would bring us all together, not tear us apart. If we all had respect for each other, we'd have no problem with wearing a mask.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Gov. DeSantis is not a stupid man. He received his BA from Yale and his JD from Harvard. He's very intelligent, so why does he go against the majority of all these people in the school districts who want a mask mandate? Because Gov. DeSantis knows that it's politically profitable to be stupid in order to please a particular group of people. Still, it's rather disturbing that he knows better, but he does the wrong thing, the stupid thing, intentionally for selfish reasons.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

So then in California vaccinated people are getting the virus from Kids? So that’s why the numbers are rising….

Perhaps some of them. You're making a logical fallacy. I never said all infections are coming from kids.

You seem to have an all-or-nothing, blue-state-vs-red-state view of epidemiology. Nobody has said that masks and vaccines are 100% effective, nor that states run by Democrats have 100% compliance. The situation we're in requires working together and making the best choices available. I still don't know what your suggestions are besides to rip on "libs".

--follow the science, not the politics.

You’re right. Thats why I just made that statement.

The science says that to help get the virus under control people should be wearing masks and getting vaccinated. You follow neither of these guidelines, probably because you think doing so would turn you into a socialist or something.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I agree. I kind of think many people feel that they aren't in control if they are following the protocols that governments lay out to them. (which, ironically, is what the government is there for!)

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You seem to have an all-or-nothing, blue-state-vs-red-state view of epidemiology.

Don’t tell me, tell the left that, that is exactly what they are thinking, if not, they would talk about the rising numbers in California, but they’re not. They’re trying to praise Newsom who’s likely to be dethroned in a few weeks God willing

I am with you on that we should, but the left doesn’t want to work together with the left or even with DeSantis, they just want him gone even though the vast majority love this guy, if the left can give him a black eye and make it stick, they will.

The science says that to help get the virus under control people should be wearing masks and getting vaccinated. You follow neither of these guidelines, probably because you think doing so would turn you into a socialist or something.

Socialist? What? Anyway, according to a lot of the science as well as Fauci, masks don’t work, in fact they seem to make things worse and this is according to the science and now we are hearing the vaccine may be defective or it doesn’t last as long and we need to take a booster shot once or twice a year, so that means, it’s not a effective as the scientists thought and hoped it to be.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

We're all in this together, and you'd think this war against this terrible disease would bring us all together, not tear us apart. If we all had respect for each other, we'd have no problem with wearing a mask.

That statement sums it all up as succinctly as I have ever seen it written. Bravo for saying it so well.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

according to a lot of the science as well as Fauci, masks don’t work, in fact they seem to make things worse

How do masks make it worse? Giving people a false sense of security? Where's the science that shows masks don't work?

He received his BA from Yale and his JD from Harvard.

There are public universities and state colleges that are tougher academically than either Yale or Harvard. I would hire a graduate of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology over anyone from Yale or Harvard.

Don’t tell me, tell the left...

...he says, proving the point being made within half a sentence.

Gov. DeSantis is not a stupid man. He received his BA from Yale and his JD from Harvard.

Stupidity is found is found in all castes, even the Ivy League educated 'elite' establishment' caste which DeSantis and Trump, Cosplay Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley as well as the spokesmale for the QGOP Tucker Carlson among otherQGOpers were brought up.

Look at the history of Europe's inbred royals for more examples.

What about Newsom, Cuomo, Whitmer, Lightfoot, Schiff, Swalwell they’re supposed to be educated and yet, their States are falling apart, they’re not stupid right?

Tucker Carlson among otherQGOpers were brought up.

And?

Look at the history of Europe's inbred royals for more examples.

What?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

What about Newsom, Cuomo, Whitmer, Lightfoot, Schiff, Swalwell they’re supposed to be educated and yet, their States are falling apart, they’re not stupid right?

At best their states didn't do as bad as other states. But was a complete and utter failure if you compare them to places in the world that were effective with their covid responses. The best you can do is find states that didn't do as bad. The problem was taht every state had the same curse - it was filled with Americans. And "Freedom, so there".

You listed some of the leaders of some of those states that didn't do as poorly.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Socialist? What?

Read your own post and you'll understand. Or maybe not.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

it’s not a effective as the scientists thought and hoped it to be.

Therefore, we shouldn't get vaccinated.

Seatbelts don't always save your life, so therefore people should stop wearing them.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Read your own post and you'll understand. Or maybe not.

I think it’s the other way around. Lol

At best their states didn't do as bad as other states.

Check the poverty rate.

Huh?

You listed some of the leaders of some of those states that didn't do as poorly.

One is out, two to go.

Don’t tell me, tell the left that, that is exactly what they are thinking, if not, they would talk about the rising numbers in California, but they’re not.

When you say "the left" you are referring to normal people who are taking a rational approach to the pandemic. Nobody on "the left" is claiming that masks or vaccines are 100% effective or that blue states are doing everything exactly right. And nobody is ignoring the rising numbers in California, which is why leaders there with a sense of responsibility are implementing measure to bring those numbers down.

Meanwhile, Florida man is responding to the crisis in his state by threatening school districts that want to protect their children from being infected. Because "freedom". Come on, man, who's making this political?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Just a few months ago the GOP was pushing for kids to go back to school as long as a safe environment could be ensured. Now that the kids are back in school the GOP is whining about masks. Pathetic.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

--Read your own post and you'll understand. Or maybe not.

I think it’s the other way around. Lol

Clever. You got me.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Check the poverty rate.

Trump states have a much higher poverty rate. Florida has record Covid deaths. Soon Florida housing will be worse than California with condominiums collapsing and water swallowing people's homes. Why do Trump people hate California so much since it is an economic powerhouse for the USA even with its flaws.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

When you say "the left" you are referring to normal people

More in the socialist or Marxist sense, if you think that’s normal….wow!

who are taking a rational approach to the pandemic.

Depends on your point of view.

Nobody on "the left" is claiming that masks or vaccines are 100% effective

And yet, they push all of us to wear them, not ask, push!

or that blue states are doing everything exactly right. And nobody is ignoring the rising numbers in California, which is why leaders there with a sense of responsibility are implementing measure to bring those numbers down.

If the blue States are doing something right, why are the numbers rising?

Meanwhile, Florida man is responding to the crisis in his state by threatening school districts that want to protect their children from being infected. Because "freedom". Come on, man, who's making this political?

The left by saying, masks should be mandatory.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

America is in a world of trouble. Covidiots, anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers and outright covid deniers there are a strong and super powerful force, and are not going away.

Things are going to get a lot worse in the USA heading into winter, no doubt about it.

The nation will probably never recover to its former power.
