Very clear that those who suffer first are those at the bottom of the job market - temporary workers who earn barely enough to survive anyway.

So very sad, all these people losing jobs.

How are you helping matters?

To limit the likelihood of people forgetting Trump's incompetence, some, especially his true believers, need constant reminders of what he did and particularly DIDN'T do. Especially when Trump and his media are 'misinforming' their readership about what he did, didn't do and said.

Trump...is laser focused

Th e only things Trump is focused on is surviving until November and keeping his businesses from tanking.

Readers, please put aside your political differences in discussing the coronavirus crisis.

"The research shows that its travel and tourism sector contributed almost USD1.6 trillion to GDP. This translates to 7.8% of US GDP with the sector growing by 2.2% (accounting for inflation) last year. The direct, indirect, and induced impact of travel and tourism accounted for 15.6 million jobs and USD198.8 billion in spending by international visitors (a 0.9% annual decrease)."

USA tourism: 7.8% of GDP

Japan tourism: 7.4% of GDP

I think McConnell’s stimulus plan is a good start $1,200 for a single person and $2,400 for couples is not bad, won’t fix everything, but in this crisis it does give hope and help.

The American economy will take a big hit

Economies around the world are going to take a big hit, not the least of which is China, where this all started.

If we all cooperate with each other, we'll all get through this and rebound.

It is no doubt that many countries would fall in default if state emergency continues ever until extinction of the virus. So better restart businesses if they can sustain the control of less virus spread.

Economies around the world are going to take a big hit, not the least of which is China, where this all started.

To that point, the Chinese will take an even bigger hit because people won’t have the money for awhile to buy a lot of Chinese products and goods, this could devastate their economy for sure and it’s because we are so connected, so if China thinks it can come out of this unscathed they’re not dealing with reality, so they’re definitely not out of the woods on this.

If we all cooperate with each other, we'll all get through this and rebound.

I believe so, but ONLY if the entire world cooperates.

Does that include the expats?

Ask McConnell, I would have no way of knowing that. The main point is the gesture and the effort to do something for the American people as for the details of it, I would not know.

Chickens coming home to roost time when America's 1% have more than 40% of the country's wealth, and when 80% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. (Google yourself) Though Bezos, Gates, Trump (assuming he has a billion) etal will be shown to lose huge amounts of their paper worth, if this drags on much longer they won't be at risk of starving, in sharp contrast with the majority of the country. None of the country's 500+ billionaires should receive a single penny of bailout money. None of the country's millions of millionaires should receive a penny. Nor should any of those in government service allowed to keep their jobs and paychecks. Nor should any in Congress. The country's top down, trickle on the rest policies need to be suspended, many ended. End government subsidies given to big farm/ranch corporations. Require them to increase food production. The stuff's hit the fan: way beyond time for a reset.

I disagree, socialism talk does nothing to solve the problem, as a capitalist, I believe everyone has the right to do as they wish with their money and I personally would help my fellow citizens, but it’s up to each one of these wealthy people to decide what they should do, it’s up to them. As for should millionaires get bailouts, it depends, if they’re small business owners they definitely should, if it’s Apple or Google, they I don’t think they should, I don’t even think the airline industry should be bailed out or any major car manufacturer.

zichi: May the Chinese will decide to cash in the $1.5 trillion of American Foreign Debt they own.

Who would the buyer be?

zizhi: America honouring its deal

They are timed events. In order to unload they would have to find another country with over a trillion to spend.....and that's even if they would spend that. There would be a massive discount.

I agree the subsidies should be ended. On top of that no profitable business should be able to avoid taxation for ant reason. What should Big Brother do if the farmers refuse to obey the government’s food production quota? Throw the country bumpkins in jail?

Or maybe he was going to the Chinese kanji playbook. If I'm not mistaken, the kanji for "crisis" also means "opportunity."

I like your positive outlook. Wish half of America shared that sentiment.
