The republicans are in real trouble if they see a doctor-shopping, chickenhawk shill as their messiah.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The 'Grand Old Party' is completely finished. They are trying to play the same old politics that saw them lose last year's election. Even from that, they can't seem to learn a lesson. Rush and Sean will lead them to a deeper grave.

Wasn't Air America supposed to "blow Limbaugh out of the water"?

What happened?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Limbaugh-Palin 2012!

It's time for the GOP Dreamteam! :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Limbaugh makes almost $40 million a year winding up Lefties.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Nice people to endorse any party...NOT!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If you don't like Rush or Coulter, you are really going to hate Mark Levin. He is the newest voice of conservatism and he is making Obama, Pelosi and Reid look mighty stupid. Less than two years before the mid term election. Democrats better hope the economy starts turning by then. Obama's head will be on the chopping block two years after that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Limbaugh makes almost $40 million a year winding up Lefties.

Limbaugh is great until he starts getting serious. What winds up the lefties is when people actually take stock in the crap he spouts. The dissemination of ignorance is definitely the Achilles heel of the left, and it is possible to get them to spin their wheels by doing it.

Limbaugh's only true worth is as an exercise for the left to try and not get sidetracked. Other than that small service, he is a drag on the goal of creating an intelligent, free thinking society.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

VOR: Completely incorrect, and in particular if it were indeed a team like Limbaugh/Palin running; a guaranteed second term for Obama and the Democrats.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

rollonarte - "Limbaugh makes almost $40 million a year winding up Lefties."

I wouldn't say "winding up," more "providing humor for" Lefties.

Limbow is a lightning rod for the Left, and I sincerely hope he keeps up his seemless endless shrieking, and - better still - runs for president, and - if he is a true genius - picks Sarah Palin as his running mate.

That would ensure Democratic rule of America for decades. :-)

And VOR - why are you always so angry? I can almost see steam rising from your posts. :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

First thing you got to lower your standards to listen to Limbaugh before he can wind us up. I don't listen to the windbag.

Levin who? Like I listen to any of them.

There's going to be flak all around, it's politics. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Democrats better hope the economy starts turning by then.

I guess its a question on the intelligence and patience of the American people. If they are foolish and impatient, they will forget the incompetence and destruction of the Republicans, and take a desperate gamble for the sake of prosperity. If they are a little smarter and a little more patient, they will give the Dems more time.

If they become geniuses though, they will know that neither party can make a good economy, but only ruin one. But then they will also form and vote for a brand new party, because this two party system is pretty idiotic for us peasants to be accepting.

All I can say for sure is, I don't care what is done at this point, neither the economy nor the national debt will be near rosy enough in two or even four years time to give the Dems an easy victory. So, they better be good on other things to win.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Republicans 8 years to destroy the economy, Dems will need 16 to get it back running again.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Republicans had 8 years to screw up the economy and they expect the democrats to fix it in 2 months. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It took Ronald Reagan about 2 years to fix the economy that Ford and Carter screwed up over a 6 year period. I doubt Obama will be able to do it in the same amount of time by raising taxes, massively increasing borrowing and spending, giving more handouts to the poor, giving more money to education (which will be sucked up by administrative and pension costs) and pumping money into boondoggles like "Green Energy." And people also seem to forget that Clinton's "economic miracle" was funded by the dot.com bubble which rivals the housing bubble - which was both a Republican and Democratic fueled disaster.

This spending bill is largely Pelosi's and Harry Reid's. But Pelosi's seat in "San Francisco" is safe, whereas Obama's Presidency is not. Smug Democrats should look back at the Clinton experience and learn from history the dangers of over reaching. You lose the Congress in 2010 and it doesn't matter how black Obama is, he'll face massive resistance.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

bebert - " I doubt Obama will be able to do it in the same amount of time by raising taxes"

Ehrr..he's not. He's lowering them on the majority starting April, raising them for the uber-rich starting 2010.

"massively increasing borrowing and spending"

the last president left him no choice, and what have you got against increased spending on Americans, anyway?

"giving more handouts to the poor"

As opposed to ....letting them starve? I take it you're from America, not Delhi?

"giving more money to education"

What, may I ask, is wrong with that? Oops, sorry, I forgot - without millions of poorly educated people, the GOP wouldn't have a base. :-)

"and pumping money into boondoggles like "Green Energy."

As opposed to giving billions each year to countries like Saudi Arabia that bred the terrorists that attacked you on 9-11?

Really, Republicans need to start reading more.

,

0 ( +0 / -0 )

bebert, sorry, I thought you were American.

My mistake.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Love him or hate him Limbaugh is the most-widely heard voice of the right in America for now. Levin, Hugh Hewitt, Laura Ingraham and Dennis Prager will never be targeted the way Obama and his goons, true to their hero Saul Alinsky, are going to make, in the age of the internet, going after a radio talk show host priority number one. Exactly when did "liberals" become so fearful of that which they couldn't sanction or control?

I suspect most of Limbaugh's non-American detractors here have never listened to more than ten or fifteen minutes of his broadcasts. Not that it matters, judging from their ignorance on matters of US politics they probably wouldn't understand half of the issues he goes into.

Interestingly, only Oprah reaches a wider audience. It is pretty safe to say she represents mainstream "liberal" Democrat America.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And people also seem to forget that Clinton's "economic miracle" was funded by the dot.com bubble which rivals the housing bubble.

The dot.com bubble "rivals" the housing bubble does it. Like a barking puppy rivals Godzilla it does.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Limbaugh makes almost $40 million a year winding up Lefties."

Heh, that'll help him to buy more black-market Viagra to help that other little problem he has, other than the obvious ones. I wonder if old Rush has been back to Palm Beach Airport since his arrest...

No wonder he's a hero to a few here.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It took Ronald Reagan about 2 years to fix the economy that Ford and Carter screwed up over a 6 year period. I doubt Obama will be able to do it in the same amount of time by raising taxes, massively increasing borrowing and spending, My sources suggest the economy was improving under Carter. And I am not sure what either did to screw it up. Their efforts to fix it might not have been that great, but Reagan's had problems of their own. And like I say, it seemed the economy was improving under Carter, and probably would have recovered without Reaganomics, whatever the hell "recovered" means.

But the bit I bolded is interesting, because that is precisely what Reagan did. What Reagan did not do was tax the rich, hoping for trickle down. I can't say he was right or wrong. But what I can say is that he left us with an embarrassing national debt that his successor, Bush the First, decided to solve by... BADA-BING... raising taxes. What choice did he have? But the big difference is that Obama wants to tax the bloated rich, while Bush the First felt no shame in taxing the poor.

At any rate, it is really hard to trace a direct link in ecomomic numbers to a president. There is a lot of overlap, and more importantly, the means of production and the demand for products are not really in the hands of the president.

And people also seem to forget that Clinton's "economic miracle" was funded by the dot.com bubble which rivals the housing bubble - which was both a Republican and Democratic fueled disaster.

Could you explain how the dot.com bubble was fueled by politicians? And it ended badly, but hey, what doesn't? But as far as I can tell it was going fine, its just that people got stupid and overconfident in those uncharted waters.

But even without checking any facts, I doubt I would give Clinton any credit for the economy aside from setting the stage. I will give him credit for not mucking it up though. Its the most important thing a president can do with regards to the economy. The man also paid our debts, and that was the real miracle.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The above got messed up somehow. The bit in the first quote with stars is supposed to be bolded. After that are my words, not bebert's.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I suspect most of Limbaugh's non-American detractors here have never listened to more than ten or fifteen minutes of his broadcasts.

Dude, there is only so much horsecrap some people can take. Either you get hypnotized by Rush or you realize he is a jackass and turn it off. About the only in-between there is is a guy like me who grew up surrounded by rednecks. I am immune to hypnotism and feel good nonsense and I am patient in the face of them. And I can appreciate the humor of his shows and that is about all I can say for the guy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And I can appreciate the humor of his shows and that is about all I can say for the guy.

Oh yeah, and rednecks have a tendency to grossly overestimate the size of the kernel of truth in humor, and that is how I feel about Rush's audience.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have never listened to Rush, nor have I ever seen what he looks like. I don't think you can get him Japan unless you go to the web.

However, he has a point: "‘I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?’”" If the president that is not your guy, wouldn't you want the same? Didn't you want the repubs to fail as well as their agendas? If Obama does indeed want to reform the country in the manner said here, I'd welcome that failure too...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation?

That is not a point! Its called a STRAWMAN!

Unless of course you think earmarks and interest groups are a vital part of capitalism!

And what the hell is he talking about with "individual liberty"??? Is Obama writing Patriot Act 2 or something? That is exactly what I mean when I say Rush hypnotizes people. He chucks in buzz words like that which are completely unrelated to anything he is talking about. Its freaking subliminal messaging. And its a damned shame so many Americans eat that crap like its Christmas cake.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WOW first six weeks in office and all this fuss.

Maybe he should have done a dubya and took a six week vacation. You know all that politicking gets to be a enormous stress and all.

Its funny something new comes in and all anyone wants to do is write it off. Yet the same people doing all the screaming were part of the problem in the first place.

I say let the man do his job and see what happens, it cant get any worse than the last 8 years. Imagine if we didnt have a no string bailout what Obama could have done with that money. By the way wheres dubya and dead eye dick hiding out.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong: "If Obama does indeed want to reform the country in the manner said here, I'd welcome that failure too..."

Well, that's part of the point. Those who are dumb enough to actually buy into what Rush has to say get fooled into thinking that Obama is turning the US into a 'fascist' state, bla bla bla.

Listening to him for even 5 minutes is enough to make you laugh for the rest of the night. But anyone with any brains stops after that. Do you really need to ask yourself if Obama WANTS to do those things?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why pay to listen to Limbaugh when there are all kinds of free podcasts - Levin, Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Praeger, IBD, Wall Street Journal, recordings of the Federalist Papers...

I get the impression that on this site it's only non-American Lefties who fork out the Yen for el Rushbo.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It took Ronald Reagan about 2 years to fix the economy that Ford and Carter screwed up over a 6 year period.

More historical revisionism, since it omits any mention of economic conditions under Nixon that became such that he was compelled to issue wage and price controls to try to rein in inflation. Also, no mention of the first 1973 oil shock and Nixon's taking the US dollar off of the gold standard. Like Obama today, Carter inherited economic conditions in serious decline.

What Carter did was to swallow a political suicide pill by appointing a Fed Chairman (Volker) who raised interest rates to the point where it finally choked off inflation for a generation. Reagan kept Volker (and his high interest rate policy) in place.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

But I can see how, if you're from a country where participatory democracy and free speech are dead, the Limbaugh phenomenon must fascinate.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Speaking Saturday to a conservative convention in Washington, he said: “What is so strange about being honest and saying, ‘I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?’”

Where was Limbaugh when his Republicans were destroying the country to the point that it would have to turn to the remedies he so decries now? Where was he on the Patriot Act and warrantless wire-tapping?

Being honest would be a strange condition for Rush Limbaugh. He is to an intellectual discussion what pro-wrestling is to a genuine competitive sport. Both (Limbaugh and wrestling) will rot your brain if you allow them to. And both seem especially popular in the brain cell-depleted red states.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

“What is so strange about being honest and saying, ‘I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?’”

Only strange if you were one of the people calling criticism of Bush "unpatriotic." I don't think it's unpatriotic now to not support the president, and I didn't think it was unpatriotic then not to support Bush. Rush, on the other hand, wants it both ways.

Limbaugh just wants cheap attention. Ignore him and he'll go away. I

So many Rush Limbaugh fans and officianados here. Fascinating. I think I take in a total of about 60 minutes a year, via blogs and YouTube. What is it about his views that makes such compelling listening for so many JT posters? - and not a few them ineligible to vote in US elections...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Where was Limbaugh when his Republicans were destroying the country to the point that it would have to turn to the remedies he so decries now?

Statements like this are clear indications the lazy and opinionated left has no direct knowledge of what El Rushbo says and simply regurgitates what has been spoon fed into their tiny childlike minds.

So yabits, any idea what position Limbaugh has taken in regards to massive government spending, John McCain's candidacy or any other issues he discusses when the Republican party strays from conservative doctrine? Don't hurt yourself.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

rollonarte: "- and not a few them ineligible to vote in US elections..."

Ah, yes... the 'you are not American and therefore can have no opinion on things American' proof that said poster has nothing they can say. It's all the more humourous when it comes from the same people who keep getting banned from a JAPANESE news site!

Rush is a moron, bottom line. The fact that the majority of people who know anything about him think so is pretty much testament to how much of a fool he is. Sure, heaps of people tune in to listen, and as I said anyone who has any intelligence tunes out pretty quick.

Obama's doing a great job, and that just kills those on the right.

Please PLEASE Limbaugh/Palin 2012! A guaranteed Democratic victory.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

rollonarte - do you think Rush Limbaugh really will run for President in 2012?

I do hope so. He sure seems to have enough morons in his camp to make a decent run of it. Unfortunately, most of those said individuals are ones who thought Bush and wrecking America are good things.

By the way, I'm not American so my vote doesn't count.

You're a Republican - neither does yours at the moment.

ha ha :-)

As

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You're a Republican - neither does yours at the moment

You are absolutely right. Democrats are completely in control and totally responsible for which direction the country heads. As the economy continues to tank, as more and more people find themselves out of work, as the stock market continues to fall and retirement funds vanish, when the middle class realize they been lied to and more of their hard earned cash is being taken away in taxes, the tide will change.

The clock is ticking on the Democrats. tick tock, tick tock.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

VOR - "As the economy continues to tank.."

Heh, glad to see you finally acknowledge your votes for the previous guy started the economy tanking. :-)

LOL Rush Limbaugh, you have to be a complete moroon to believe he is the new leader of the far right movement. If you think he is you are lost......No one would be so stupid as to have him, Palin and Coulter run the party into the ground unless they were fools or a grand Democratic party coup! Ooooo could it be, the death of the far right movement from within? OOOOooooo so Machiavellian I love it.....The death of the far right by the far right....Cream baby cream!

BTW if you don't hear from me in the next few days you know why....Ohhoooo far right

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Who is this "Palin" person you're all talking about?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So yabits, any idea what position Limbaugh has taken in regards to massive government spending...

We do have Limbaugh's own words above, in the body of the article. He flat out wants President Obama to fail. As the article states, even other Republicans are cringing at Rush's remarks.

On the one hand, it can be argued that driving a government towards complete and utter failure has been the plan of some of the more mentally-disturbed of the Republicans all along. After all, government (as in "we the people") to them has always been the enemy, the problem. And the Republicans' actions in taking the US from a surplus situation in 2000 towards massive deficits was all very much calculated. Anyone recall the Republican who said they wanted government to collapse to the size where it could be drowned in a bathtub?

On the other hand, as in his statements above, Rush has proven himself to be a buffoon time and time again. Why would anyone who is intelligent or serious spend time considering the positions taken by a dishonest buffoon? Just like those simple country folks who think that pro wrestling is real, they think that Rush actually has something intelligent to say.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The clock is ticking on the Democrats. tick tock, tick tock.

LOL... Yes, but everyone can see who wound up the clock and attached their explosive device to it, before the Democrats stood up and rose to the challenge of dismantling the thing.

The cowardly Republicans now spend their time praying the thing will blow up. If only they could love the United States the way they love their power-trips and their sanctimony.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wasn't Air America supposed to "blow Limbaugh out of the water"?

What happened?

They decided to make one of their own a U.S. Senator instead.

Skip,

I have never listened to Rush, nor have I ever seen what he looks like.

That makes you an AWFULLY lucky guy.

Nessie,

Limbaugh just wants cheap attention. Ignore him and he'll go away.

As a liberal, that's the last thing I want. The more rush is associated with the republican party, the more he'll bloviate to hear himself talk and feed his ego. The more he talks, the more stupid sht comes out of his mouth. The more stupid sht comes out of his mouth, the faster he sinks the republican party. The faster he sinks the republican party, the quicker they will learn that the neo-cons are a parasite to the party. The faster they realize that, the faster they will expunge them and they become an insignificant third party with zero political clout and the republican party can become more moderate. Then...we all win. Hell, with that in mind, I think rush should be on fox, in-between the factor and hannity, as far as I'm concerned.

Taka

It's nice to see the Democrats take full responsibility for this economy and (past) government spending practices. Hopefully we can see a turn around soon since we are spending less, cutting back the fat, and spending more in areas that need the money most (college education etc) in order to innovate.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong

nor have I ever seen what he looks like.

Have you been in a foreign country for the past, let's see 20 years? You have never seen Rush? You are the only person in the freeworld that has never seen him.

I thought I was the only person in the corner of the basement. Surprise to me. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You have never seen Rush

Until recently, the only image of Rush I had seen, was Birch Barlow.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They both deserve all the flak they can absorb and then some. Both are narrow minded, vulgar, nasty people. Maybe they should get married!

Taka, I think a democracy requres active debate in order to be effective. Sinking the republican party isn't going to accomplish anything. The conservative point of view is as valid as yours....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Its articals like these that make me happily independant, ah the sweet release of nonpartisanship.

But on to the real meat of the subject,

Limbaugh: The man has his own ideas on how the world works, many of which I find silly, and most of his opinions aren't shared by either party. The, now famous, referance to him wishing Obama to fail was taken a bit out of context, namely condemning Obama's healthcare plan to failure and not the administration at large. When you get right down to it he's just another old fat guy ranting about how he thinks things should be done, much the same as my own grandfather... who I also tend to ignore.

Pelosi: She displays many of the same annoying qualities of Limbaugh but she is actually dangerous in that she holds actual political sway. I tend to like my politicians very moderate, very cautious, and very analytical about what they do and Pelosi is none of these. I'm quite sure that, if given the chance, she would nationalize healthcare, slap a 90% income tax on anyone making more than double the national average salary, remove every firearm from every home, and make the U.S into a very pretty, very green, very safe...police state. As much as I would love to sweep the woman under the rug like I can Rush, I can't because she has the ability to effect the way I live my life.

Fortunetly for all of us, neither of these individuals represent a large protion of the voting population. If only there were more moderates to put my mind at ease...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If Pelosi turns the U.S. into Californica we will all be in trouble and bankrupt like her state. Rush sells books and programming to make money (ala Clinton, Obama). Together they make a dangerous combination. Rush wanted people to vote for Obama (anti-Hilliary) -Now Obama is in and he got his convoluted way. Pelosi is dumb as a rock. -Messed up the first stimulus, a spendthrift.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It always amuses me to hear people ranting about how stupid and moronic Limbaugh is. It just goes to show their own ignorance. Try listening to his show before you comment. There is a reason he has had a show on the radio for more then 20 years. Agree or disagree with his opinions, the man however is simply brilliant.

Regarding this wanting Obama to fail. I think every conservative wants him to fail. As the one who is pushing hardest for socialism, I want to see him fail. Socialism hasn't worked anywhere its been tried, and it won't work here either. So I'd be happy to see Obama fail.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Calicocat,

I believe you misread my post. I also believe in active debate, don't want the republican party to dissolve and have no desire to silence rush limbaugh, sean hannity, michelle malkin or any of the radical right. I want them to be heard by all Americans. I believe (and you are free to disagree) that the consequence of them having more access to the American public would be that their egos would cause them to radicalize even more and make them more unattractive to the majority of the American voters. This, I believe, would cause the republican party to suffer to a point where they find it better for their own self-interests to expunge the neo-cons from the party, thus allowing them to become more moderate and more representative of the majority of America.

I don't want the republican party sunk. I want them to give themselves an enema.

Taka

Molenir - another swing and a miss from you! I listen to Limbaugh at least once a week, and I am quite well-versed with the sh*t he spews. This is how we good Americans keep tabs on the radical right fringe hate-groups.

A challenge to you: show me one, just one, indication of Obama attempting to turn America into a real socialist state (requiring you to know the definition of socialism). No smartass comments, no lame attempts at funny one-liners; keep the discussion civil like the long-suffering moderators here at JT so desperately hope will become the norm for JT.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yabits: He is to an intellectual discussion what pro-wrestling is to a genuine competitive sport. Both (Limbaugh and wrestling) will rot your brain if you allow them to.

I was thinking he was what Satan is to Christianity. A trickly little disingenuous bugger who freely mixes truth and lies in order to confound you.

Where was Limbaugh when his Republicans were destroying the country to the point that it would have to turn to the remedies he so decries now?

He was busy destroying the country in his own Satanic way.

rollonarte: So many Rush Limbaugh fans and officianados here.

A priest warning about Satan is hardly a fan. But such a statement is worthy of Satan I think. You are learning well.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is getting better by the minute, Rush is now going after the GOP Chair Michael Steele. Rush is so angry that at Steele because Steele is trying to claim the title of head of the Republican party.

Can this get any better the drug addict Rush i the defacto leader of the dying far right party!LOL Hey wait this sounds familiar, Hitler was also a drug addict and he was the defacto of a far right party...Hmmmm history maybe repeating itself. Next Rush will hide out in some secret bunker some where.

Like I said, this a all a well planned, the destruction of the far right from within! Can it get any better? Leave it to a drug addict to destroy it all!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A challenge to you: show me one, just one, indication of Obama attempting to turn America into a real socialist state...

I doubt if any of Rush's fans could rise to that challenge. It is far easier to mislabel anything that isn't in lockstep with conservative ideology as "socialism," and then use the tag to justify wanting a president and his nation to fail.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

yabits: It is far easier to mislabel anything that isn't in lockstep with conservative ideology as "socialism," and then use the tag to justify wanting a president and his nation to fail.

Thank you for clearly identifying yet another page of the Limbaugh playbook called "How to Foster Ignorance and Get Rich Doing It."

The crap he spews, like with many lower grade Republicans, is a long string of mislabeling, mis-definition, and scare tactics aimed at simple and paranoid minds, of which there are far too many in America.

The crap he spews, like with many lower grade Republicans, is a long string of mislabeling, mis-definition, and scare tactics aimed at simple and paranoid minds, of which there are far too many in America.

Well put. No liberal that I've ever met feels so insecure that they need to have their world explained to them on a near-daily basis by a buffonish entertainer. We know that the world is composed of various shades of gray, rather than black and white.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A challenge to you: show me one, just one, indication of Obama attempting to turn America into a real socialist state

Gee, let me think... Oh how about Obama care. Wow, that was hard. Any other requests from the loony libs here on JaToday? No? Just more ranting about how much you hate Limbaugh? Sounds an awful lot like the way you guys used to rant about Bush. New target eh?

USAFDude, if you had seriously listened to the man, you wouldn't be saying what you do. While he is presenting his opinions on politics, much of what he is saying is done with the intent to entertain. As you say, political buffoonery. But as I was saying before, you can disagree with his politics, but when it comes down to it, what he is doing is simply genius. Theres a reason hes been on the air for 20 plus years, and has a strong following. What he says strikes a strong chord within a lot of people. Talking about self-reliance, independence, and freedom. Thats pretty much his core principles, and the core principles of the conservative movement. Principles that were sadly abandoned by our most recent President.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gee, let me think... Oh how about Obama care.

Could you please explain to us what parts of Obama's ideas on health care will make us a "real socialist state" over Medicaid, SCHIP and Social Security? I have to admit, I have never heard of "Obama care" and information on the web seemed a little lacking. So I am wondering if this is the bomb, the straw that broke the camel's back, or just a very weak answer.

Thanks.

rollonnarte (RR) said:

What happened?

I tell you what, we'll let you have the radio airwaves and we'll take the Presidency and hopefully that Minnesota Senate seat too.

Why do the vilify Rush so? So what if he acts like he some kind of a virile badass and in reality he would nearly collapse if he walked half a mile and he is actually impotent. So what if he is holier than thou and has spoken out in support of the "Moral Majority," when in actuality he is a pill popping drug addict who broke federal laws by forging prescriptions. So what if he would rather have America fail just as long as he gets his way for his needs and the desires of his cronies.

He is trying to make every American patriotic by giving up those ideas about evolution and bowing down before god, by owning a cabinet full of guns, by making those nasty little sinner boys and girls say a prayer at the beginning of school, by getting women to get back to their place in the kitchen serving their man like they really want to do anyway and by hiring the Republicans to run our country, buying Republican cars, eating Republican food, living in Republican houses, wearing Republican clothes and working at Republican jobs.

The Republicans/conservatives can't abandon Sir Limbaugh, they have adopted his responses to all the success of the Clinton years, criticism of our loss of rights by the Republicans and his rhetoric on how the Democrats not the Republicans ruined the economy and how Obama's socialism is destroying America as evidenced by the stock market which is an indication of Obama's failure but was not an indicator of Clinton's success.

Molenir - that wasn't even a good attempt on your part. I've backed you into a corner... again!

Wow, that was hard.

For you, it definitely was too much to handle. I have listened to Limbaugh and I judge him to be completely and provably wrong - same as I judge you.

Next.

A challenge to you: show me one, just one, indication of Obama attempting to turn America into a real socialist state...

Nationalization of the banking system and the auto industry, healthcare, attempts to revamp social security, and his new strangle hold on the mortgage industry interest rates.

USAFdude: "I judge him to be completely and provably wrong"

Except that USAFdude can't prove it. Which makes USAFdude a bad judge.

USAFFude: You don't realise that the tide is already turning against your messiah, dontcha know?

Do you know with imminent cutbacks, you will probably soon be on welfare and without enough cash to pay for internet we will not see your posts anymore. You should have thought who you voted for, what type of a man he really is. Limburgh is ten times the patriot and man that Obama could ever be.

There certainly are enough egos in Washington that deserve an enima or, if that doesn't work, a lot of flak.

As far as Obama is concerned I'm just seeing Washington business as usual with a leftist slant. I think it's too early to say it's "socialist" but that is typical of Obama's voting record to date. We've also got a lot of campaign promises that have been modified or, in the case of the budget and bailout bills, forgotten completely. I'm not sure the Obama administration is going the way people thought it would.

OnTheRecord at 10:27 PM JST - 3rd March

Just want to help you out, because it appears you have mistaken one administration with another.

Nationalization of the banking system

G.W. Bush watch started that one. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/oct/15/wall-street-bank-shares

The auto industry

Again Bush

healthcare

Ah was Obama President in 2003? I maybe wrong but I could swear W and the Republicans changed Health care.

attempts to revamp social security

Again you keep getting your administrations mixed up. Yep it was W who tried to privatize Social Security. A Republican wet dream, give federal money to wall street....LOL

new strangle hold on the mortgage industry interest rates

Wow why are all Republicans trying to re-write history and replace Bush's name with Obama.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I believe the question was on one indication of Obama attempting to turn America into a real socialist state. Thats attempting, a current tense of the root to attempt, so I logically concluded that we are talking about what is being done now. Keeping that in mind I have seen nothing presently that would indicate that Obama is reversing any of the aformentioned plans, therefore I can say that what were GW's plans are now Obama's plans. And if I'm not mistaken wasn't Obama in the Senate when these procedures were put into place, so I can go right ahead and make the leap of logic that Obama gets to share in the responcibility.

And Joe, a Republican? Me? Oh no, I've never been a part of the two-party travesty of democracy and refuse to judge my politicians along party lines, but rather by individual merit which, might I add, is severly lacking in both camps.

I have to wonder if all the shriekers going bonkers over the idea of nationalizing things in America use the USPS or, in order to keep their "better dead than red" status, all of their mail is sent via FedEx.

I also wonder if they plan on cashing their nationalized Social Security checks when the time comes.

Heck, imagine their fear-based frenzy if they ever received a nationalized Social Security check via the U.S. Postal Service! The horrors!

I also wonder if they shrieked and stomped their feet and waved their little fists in the air over the establishment of the TSA.

I wonder about stuff like that.

Taka

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't send mail, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that SS will crash by the time I'm 30 let alone old enough to cash in on that confused dying giant, and last time I checked the TSA is a law enforcement department that may be replaced in exchange for a privet security force, TSA is just cheaper. And I was also waving my little fist in the air about the formation of Amntrak, which forced privet commerical locomotive companies into extinction.

In every business there is the chance for failure, however, if that business is in the hands of government that failure comes at the expense of taxpayers who don't even have a say in the businesses operations. In addition nationalization of any industry takes away the ability of intelligent and motivated individuals to enter into the field because the government has monopolized it. Government exists to protect people and property, not to make money, not to regulate, not to stimulate, and not to control. Somewhere along the line we lost sight of that truth (somewhere in the late 60's me thinks).

It is for these reasons that extreamist views like those of Rush and Nancy concern me as much as they do. Neither makes any attempt to temper their ideals with reality or intelligent discussion, but rather to charge blindly foreward. I find the whole thing revolting.

TheQuestion - Oh Question, Question, Question, where to begin...

Keeping that in mind I have seen nothing presently that would indicate that Obama is reversing any of the aformentioned plans, therefore I can say that what were GW's plans are now Obama's plans.

So closing Gitmo isn't a present indication of reversing bush's plans, huh? I'd love to hear your spin ahem, excuse me, opinion on that. I, for one, see the closing of Gitmo as but one reversal of bush's policies.

And if I'm not mistaken wasn't Obama in the Senate when these procedures were put into place, so I can go right ahead and make the leap of logic that Obama gets to share in the responcibility.

Well, at least you're right that Obama was in the Senate when these procedures were put into place; doesn't mean he supported them. Ever hear of the "surge"?

Government exists to protect people and property, not to make money, not to regulate, not to stimulate, and not to control.

How does government "protect people and property" if it doesn't "regulate, stimulate, and control"? Isn't that sort of what we elect them to do? By the way, with America being a democracy and all, we could just vote out government leaders if we don't like what they're doing - sort of like we did last November. Could it be that Republicans don't fear "big government" so much as accountability to the government, the people, and the law?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And one other thing, Question -

by the time I'm 30

in the same post as

Somewhere along the line we lost sight of that truth (somewhere in the late 60's me thinks).

LOL! Please, by all means, enlighten us all with your "20-something" expertise on world matters and life experience! While you're at it, could you at least learn how to spell?

responcibility, severly, privet [twice!], aformentioned, foreward, extreamist

Sheesh!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Could you please explain to us what parts of Obama's ideas on health care will make us a "real socialist state" over Medicaid, SCHIP and Social Security?

Molenir, I am patiently awaiting an answer.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Taka313, that is not fair mentioning the TSA. Anything and everything can be done in the name of "scurity." I think the Republican position is clear by the recently released documents.

Fourth Amendment protections against unwarranted search and seizure, for instance, did not apply in the United States as long as the president was combatting terrorism, the Justice Department said in an Oct 23, 2001, memo.

/ /

“First Amendment speech and press rights may also be subordinated to the overriding need to wage war successfully,” Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo wrote, adding later: “The current campaign against terrorism may require even broader exercises of federal power domestically.”

Actually that is more attributable to Communism then Socialism. How dare you call Homeland "Scurity" effort to make our country safe socialism when all they were doing was following the Russian model of Lenin and Stalin.

Iraqi Prison Abuse

Exactly. Exactly my point! This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of heard of need to blow some steam off? Limbaugh: "Don't let the liberals deceive you into believing that a decade of sustained growth without inflation in America (in the '80s) resulted in a bigger gap between the have and the have-nots. Figures compiled by the Congressional Budget Office dispel that myth" (Limbaugh, The Way Things Ought to Be, p. 70). Reality: CBO numbers for after-tax incomes show that in 1980 the richest fifth of our country had eight times the income of the poorest fifth. By 1989, the ratio was more than 20-to-1.

Limbaugh: "The poorest people in America are better off than the mainstream families of Europe" (radio, 1993). Reality: The poorest 20 percent of Americans can purchase an average of $5,433 worth of goods with their income. Meanwhile, in Germany, the average person can purchase $20,610 worth of goods; in France, $19,200; in Britain, $16,730 (World Development Report 1994, published by the World Bank).

If Rush Limbaugh were any more patriotic he would burst!

Ugh, this will take a few minutes.

GITMO: For starters he hasn't actually closed it yet because nobody has any idea of what to do with the prisoners. If we do move them than we have closed the institution of GITMO but the concept of a prison camp remains, although its location has been moved. And please enlighten me on how GITMO has ANYTHING to do with economic matters.

The Surge: You mean the one that worked? Come on, you've got to have a better example than that.

If you think that protection is the same as control then you are the same as every right winged nut job that you so vehemently bash on.

My age: In what world is age a measure of intelligence or wisedom? According to that logic you should have voted for John McCain or Ron Paul.

My spelling: Wow, seven spelling errors in that entire post, none of which prevented you from getting the overall meaning, without using spell check every other word. I would say that compared to some of the posts on this site my spelling is quite acceptable. But then I suppose you must use the great wisdom you've acquired over your long years for something. And if it has to be picking at little issues like my age and my spelling errors than so be it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, it's easy to get under your skin, isn't it, kid? OK, here we go!

therefore I can say that what were GW's plans are now Obama's plans

Your words, not mine. Do try to remember what you've already written before you post things like:

And please enlighten me on how GITMO has ANYTHING to do with economic matters.

Next:

The Surge: You mean the one that worked? Come on, you've got to have a better example than that.

Nope, I don't have to. Once again, your own words:

And if I'm not mistaken wasn't Obama in the Senate when these procedures were put into place, so I can go right ahead and make the leap of logic that Obama gets to share in the responcibility.

Just because Obama was in the Senate does not mean he supported everything bush did. Frankly, there is no better example than the surge.

If you think that protection is the same as control then you are the same as every right winged nut job that you so vehemently bash on.

Expound on this. Now. Don't just sling reactionary insults at me, kid.

My age: In what world is age a measure of intelligence or wisedom? According to that logic you should have voted for John McCain or Ron Paul.

"Wisedom"? You've laughably addressed your own question! And by the way, I voted for Obama because he was the best candidate, not due to his age (or lack thereof); in your case, you're showing immaturity in accordance with your age (or lack thereof).

No need for me to go any further. Take care!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And you as well. Wish you could have stuck around a bit longer but I suppose thats just the way things are, hopefully next time there will be more actual discussion and less meaningless condescending remarks.

Rush Limbaugh's reply to President Obama:

“If these guys are so impressed with themselves, and if they are so sure of their correctness, why doesn’t President Obama come on my show?

. . . I am offering President Obama to come on this program — without staffers, without a TelePrompTer, without note cards — to debate me on the issues. . . .

Just come on this program. Let’s have a little debate. You tell me how wrong I am and you can convince the rest of the Americans that don’t agree with you how wrong we all are. You’re a smart guy, Mr. President. You don’t need these hacks to front for you.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

why doesn’t President Obama come on my show?

National security reasons. For the country's sake, the president needs to be shielded from nut jobs.

Barack Obama is the greatest liar in history (no wonder he is an excellent lawyer!). During his campaign, he told lots of hope in future for America if he was elected, but now he warns Americans of oncoming darker economy and not to put too much hope in his promises. He promises a big plan to reduce budget deficit but, while the nation is in deep depression, his inauguration ceremony was the most costly in history (50 millions) as well as his presidential campaign (600 millions), which was far more than his opponent John McCain's. He vows to clean up Washington DC, but he failed to first clean up his homestate Illinois, one of the most corrupt state with the scandal of Governor Rod Blagojevich, who greatly helped Obama to win his state senate seat in 1996, 1998, and 2002; not mentioning that many of his cabinet nominees such as Tom Daschle, Tim Geithner, Nancy Killefer, Hilda Solis, and Bill Richardson avoided to pay taxes, hired illegal workers, or involved in corruption charges. Obama asks Congress quickly pass his economic stimulus package of $787 billions, which, with E-verify protection for American workers removed by Democrat-controlled Senate, would create at least 300,000 jobs for illegal immigrants. And his favorite slogan is "Yes, we CAN", yet he himself CANNOT quit smoking at all !!! (Each year about 1.3 million American smokers quit successfully).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

" . . . his favorite slogan is "Yes, we CAN", yet he himself CANNOT quit smoking at all !!!"

You couldn't have wrapped up your irrational rant any better. Of all of the completely contrived non-sequiturs in your post, I think the smoking one’s my absolute favorite.
