closing of any slaughterhouses in her state that are seeing alarming increases in COVID-19, saying: “Without them, people’s lives and our food supply will be impacted.”

In other words among those doing the dirtiest jobs for minimum wage, probably minimum or even no healthcare benefits while being forced to wear diapers because they don't get loo breaks are workers who have become essential to the economy.

How many of these workers are recent to the US (i.e. 'immigrants'). Will the execs running these businesses now see their workers are critical to their corporations profits and be willing to take less money so workers can get paid more?

I don't think so, either.

Talk to Bezos about that not Trump.

Since when did Fauci become an economist? stick to medicine, doctor your “hidden” bias is showing.

But Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious-disease expert, warned on ABC: “Unless we get the virus under control, the real recovery economically is not going to happen.”

Trump and his GOP enablers need to be reminded what happens when worker protection measures are dismantled. Trump's anti-worker lobbyists in his swamp are getting greater bonuses for stiffing workers. While the execs paying the lobbyists are also giving themselves bigger bonuses.

"Economics the dismal science". Gave us such disproven gems as trickle down economics which has been a disaster for the working class and which the Republicans still stubbornly cling to. I'll stick to dr. Fauci for my advice in this crisis.

Dem governor agrees. Back to work!

Except that 90% of anyone who could be considered "elite" is rabidly anti-Trump. So they stand silently in the background not supporting him, but hoping he makes the tough decisions so the companies they own can get back to normal business.

Dont you think all the Hollywood types hope that movie theaters reopen and movies/TV start production again? I havent seen one of them come forward and publicly support the president to do that.

I wish good luck for these workers.

Its good that people will get to go back to work prior to any more immigration being allowed.

We have 22 million people who need their jobs back first.

In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!
