Christmas lights over the airport?

There are some suggestions that the weather does not favor drones today, which is why some flights have resumed, even temporarily.

Extortion, Russian meddling, terrorism, a prank?

I am guessing that rather than taking out individual drones the authorities will be wanting to get down to the foot of this Christmas tree and uproot it once and for all.

How many drones? Three? Three hundred?

There was a thought it might be environmental activists, which seems strange. Maybe protesting the carbon burn on all those flights.

Would not be surprised to see the same thing happen again and/or at other U.K airports.

The response by U.K authorities is downright embarrassing.

They should have been blown out of the sky in the first couple hours.

Haha, Matt, no bullets allowed, so a chance to play with laser weaponry?

Apparently, shooting it down was quickly discounted for a variety of reasons. The media is speculating that it's an environmental activist causing the disruption, various groups have invaded runways and blocked access to airports in the past.

I hope they're found quick and held responsible for the costs incurred by the airlines for all the delays. They can work it off at the airport cleaning toilets.

Gatwick is open! For a few hours only. It's closed again, the drones are back.

At the same time environmentalist groups have tried to storm various BBC offices around the country, causing lockdowns. Maybe this is all connected.

Now closed again.

Itseems like it wasn't an amateur larking about.

A Russian test or revenge?

Open again.

Do you have a source for that? I don't see anything in any UK news sites?

Maybe they need to go talk to the Dutch. Borrow a couple of these guys.

Of course this now is going to happen again, and again.

If not drones, it's laser pens, and whatever you do don't jokingly mention the 'bomb'.

The golden age of air travel disappeared in the last century.

The pic of the guy in shorts and the orange hoodie makes me think that in

freezing conditions as hundreds slept on benches and floors.

there is always one.
