Interesting that Braverman has taken a more aggressive stance against the Met despite being a Conservative politcian.

Yes she aggressively accused them of being too woke.

The UK is in a bad place but it's all the government's fault. They've been in power for thirteen years. The fish is rotting from the head.

Cressida Dick was responsible for the heinous murder of a Brazilian student on the London Underground by policemen who cold-bloodedly fired 9? dum-dum bullets at point blank range into an innocent young man, traumatizing all the witnesses in the carriage. I just happened to arrive in London at precisely that time and was forced to take a taxi because the London Underground had stopped. As we maneuvered in the traffic, the taxi driver suddenly exulted in jubilation: "They (the police) got 'im (the "terrorist')! Soon after the truth came out, but nobody in the Met was made accountable for this most atrocious killing. Dick was even promoted and showered with honours and my trust in them died. Since then police corruption has worsened exponentially.

Nobody in the police are accountable for anything.

They more or less investigate themselves.

They're more or less all part of a secret society called the Freemasons.

Has anyone been named (let alone charged!!) for covering up the dirty rapist in the police that got away with it with impunity for twenty freaking years...

Anyone?

They should be disbanded and made into four new forces.

It's an inconvenient, uncomfortable truth rarely admitted in public, but the police (and military) in all countries do not attract only the best people, but are breeding grounds for "bad eggs" to hatch. Perpetual vigilance and periodic purging of all ranks are the only realistic remedies, but the effectiveness of such measures to "police" the police will only work as far as the politics of any given regime and the "crooked timber" of humankind will allow. In the UK it's an open secret that a massive purge of the police is long overdue.

Yes, the Tories, up to their necks in failure, corruption and incompetence, are looking to cheap score points in the ‘culture wars’. Braverman is at the forefront.

This can’t be dismissed that easily.

The Met were corrupt 50 years ago. Selling seized drugs with fingerprint dust on them.

I can only speak from personal experience. This is true.

The report, it's centre, is fundamentally what inhabits the uniform.

To be fair, October 2022 the combined police authorities pledged to attend all burglaries.

The reality remains that barely six percent of burglaries have been solved.

So it is fair to assume officers attend and essentially walk away

Time for change, top to bottom.

Accountability.

27-year-old Jean Charles de Menezes the Brazilian electrician killed by anti-terrorist police.

And the ninety odd slaughtered at Hillsborough over 30 years ago?

Enough of the British metropolitan police. Break it up.

Competition is always healthy for the public.

They walk a crooked mile.

Of course, the police chief in charge while the most recent bits of this were going on has been given a title and is now "Dame Cressida Dick". Ironically, we had a gay woman overseeing an institutionally misogynist and homophobic police force. The cynics out there would say she was a token appointment.

The main thing is that all you have to do is kowtow to power and they'll reward your every failure.

All the way back to the Krays.

Break up the police force. Screw their old boy network.

I wouldn't say Racist, but the UK Police force in General are Low IQ thugs with lack of respect for individuals. That's been my experience with them - especially when encountering off "Duty Officers" ....

I guess you get what you pay for in that respect, and that goes for other Countries too.

Black people also suffer from the Met cops.

Also, they are exceedingly impolite

Wow. If you understood anything about the Masons you would know they do not advocate or condone the kinds of racism and violence attributed to the London Met.

The London Irish suffered from the police during the period of the trouble. Many were wrongly imprisoned.

An unfair narrative imho. So the politician open the floodgates to foreign immigrants (good and bad), foreign money (mostly bad), foreign rules (from the EU - all bad), but city police with ever reducing resources is supposed to uphold law and order performance?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Not a good time to be a minority in London, which has hundreds of years of historic systemic racism attached.
