The elusive "right" kind of socialism.

As rubber stamped by Britain's Jeremy Corbyn.

More than 7 million Venezuelans cast symbolic votes rejecting President Nicolas Maduro's plan

But given Venezuela's petroleum reserves, you can be sure Russia's right there, this time supporting Maduro. (Link from Fox 'news' for rightists.)

And given Venezuela's petroleum reserves, the US must also be there.

US and Russia end your colonial expansions. Take care of your own people and your own problems. Trump and Putin's quest for petroleum domination are making the world more volatile each day.

I think it's fair to lay the blame for the economic catastrophe in Venezuela firmly at the feet of the leftwing dictatorship.

Somehow the Chavez family went from paupers to billionaires in 14 years. My friends on the left say this is normal and part of the wealth sharing.

I only hope when the bloody uprising finally excretes this scum from power that the riches stolen by the Chavez family are seized. I wonder how much Borat Maduro has siphoned off already as the people live in equal doses of

I would suggest you learn from history the role of the US in Latin America - it is abominable.

And they are still at it, undermining legitimate governments that toe toe the Yanqui line.

I suggest you check out 'Venezuela Analysis': https://venezuelanalysis.com/ , or 'Time for the International Left to Take a Stand on Venezuela':  http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/47445.htm

One would have to have very heavy ideological blinkers to not see the blood-soaked hands of Uncle Sam's 'Evil Empire' in the destabilising of Venezuela, as was recently also seen in Brazil and Argentina.

And remember Pinochet, El Salvador, Argentina, Guatemala, Uruguay, Haiti, Honduras, the 'Contras', Peru, Bolivia - perhaps you don't remember, but rest assured older Lain Americans DO remember, those that survived.

Middle East and African 'Regime Change' interventions are just a continuation of what the US has done since it's inception.

@Madverts

The elusive "right" kind of socialism.

lol. You beat me too it. I was going to suggest that this time the excuse will probably be a CIA conspiracy, but Paul beat me to that as well.

@Paul

I suggest you check out 'Venezuela Analysis': https://venezuelanalysis.com/ , or 'Time for the International Left to Take a Stand on Venezuela':

I think everyone knows that it's the anti-government protestors doing the killing. It's not a secret. They are fed up with not having food, medicine and toilet paper in the shops for their families. Or is the CIA also secretly stopping toilet paper trucks at the border? When you start expropriating private assets and fixing prices, logic dictates that companies will no longer want to do business in your country. This is what you get when you put a Marxist bus driver in charge of what should be the wealthiest country in South America. I susect the CIA is sitting this one out. They only get involved when dictators are not shooting themselves in the foot.

@Madverts

You obviously have not checked the links. 'Protesters' are armed and paid by the 'Opposition', who are backed by the US. Huge warehouses have been discovered, where goods like toilet paper etc. were hoarded, in order to cause public protests by their absence. We saw the same in the run-up to the Chile coup.

I don't know how old you are, but I have been involved in Human Rights campaigns since the early 1970's - I do know what I'm talking about, and I have never been a Communist (although some of my friends are), I am a Christian with a conscience.

Why does America have such a high standard of living (though I am aware many are in poverty)? Because their government and military have overthrown decent Nationalist governments around the globe, and installed US Big Business- friendly 'Uncle Toms' or military Juntas who similarly allow US and multinational companies to pillage their countries' raw materials, and crack down on Trade Unions or Peasant Cooperatives.

The Brits, of course, did similar stuff in their 'Empire', as have other European countries.

C4, an American military explosive; yes, the Yanqis lust is unbounded to get their hands on Venezuela's oil and other resources. So when Maduro starts cracking down, don't be misled by Western governments and MSM blaring out the old 'Attacking peaceful demonstrators' baloney, like they did in Syria.

Huge warehouses have been discovered, where goods like toilet paper etc. were hoarded, in order to cause public protests by their absence.

Which is not really surprising. If I was a business owner in Venezuela I would hoard my stock too. Not because I want to cause civil unrest, but because I'd rather wait to get a fair price once the bus driver is ousted from power instead of having the government seize my hard earned property in the name of socialism.

C4, an American military explosive;

C4 plastic explosives are by no means used exclusively by the US military. But if it fits the evil conspiracy, then so be it.

M3,

You're wasting your time entering into discussion with left-wing radicals. Socialism needs to be treated as a crazy Godless religion, the followers are true-believers, hardcore fanatics prepared to use violence if the ballot fails them as el Présidenté Borat Maduro recently screeched. There's always a tinfoil hat conspiracy that lays the blame at the feet why this particular version of socialism failed spectacularly, but it's never to do with rampant corruption coupled with rampant ineptitude on a planetary scale as we've seen in Venezuela since the radicals seized power. Even when Dear Leader in this instance was one of the biggest dirty capitalists out there, Saint Hugo "Billionaire from the Revolucion" Chavez. Note how "Bab's" conveniently ignores this dirty fact.

The extreme right are a different kettle of fish. They, like all true psychopaths, know the difference between right and wrong, they simply don't care which makes them easier to deal with. I'm just glad we've embraced centrist politics here in France and the radicals are simply screaming from afar as they should be, as opposed top being in power in the US, or in soon to collapse Venezuela ....

Socialism needs to be treated as a crazy Godless religion

Amen to that. lol.

I'm just glad we've embraced centrist politics here in France

Seeing comrade Melenchon go down (and then refuse to endorse Macron in the second round like a sore loser) was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far. I'm very optimistic about about France under Macron, but he obviously has a big job ahead of him.

Left wing socialism@work destroying yet another country and adding more deaths to the 200 million already dead from socialism in the last 100 years. pay attention because most if the world governments, especially the Democratic party in the US, the UN itself, most of the European countries, most Asian, African and south American countries are all on the socialist path. the world, wide political class wants to establish socialism, just like Venezuela and we can expect a similar result.

Thanks for weighing in Todd, we already had your opposite extremes' screaming 2 yen....
