OK, let me just head off the stupidity before it even gets started.

A major winter storm is absolutely NOT proof that Al Gore got it all wrong because he's fat (although he has chunkified; there you got one thing correct).

Actually, one of the signs that man is having a major impact on the environment and the weather is an increase in severe weather, such as severe winter storms. That means when you get up, insert your head in your arse, then sit down to type something like, "so much for global warming," you are actually proving the opposite of the point you are trying to make. That is how uneducated you are on the subject.

For the rest of us, enjoy the white Christmas.

Peace,

Taka

So now extremes in cold weather are man's fault too? Geez, they keep making it up as it goes along. Severe weather was present long before the industrial age. This entire issue has more to do with socialists attacking capitalism than actual science. Taka's preemptive post - FAIL!

[sigh.] Those here without meteorological training dont understand that although the snows come earlier and in greater amounts the snow is warmer than it used to be. Okay?

Helter_Skelter: still don't get it think. Earth had and always will have temperature changes, extreme weathers. Changes are a slow process. Humans are accelerating it. Massive cuts in the Amazon for example already impacted regions in South American. Massive agriculture pollute and asphyxiate rivers. Tons of CO2 release in the atmosphere can't be good.

Earth will regulate itself, find a new equilibrium. We can agree on this point I think. But Mother Nature is blind. She doesn't care if human or other form of life has to disappear. She will is and will more and more reacting violently.

So, this is socialist conspiracy, right? This is nonsens. Do you really know the definition of socialism? I mean, have you ever tried look at it?

Chimney huggers exasperate me like the tree huggers.

If global warming was going to be so cold -why didn't they just call it "global cooling"?

Earth will regulate itself, find a new equilibrium.

Yes, it will get rid of us from its surface. Or perhaps we will do it ourselves.

TumbleDry,

I pray earth never does find an equilibrium. It's the lack of one that causes our weather. Lows and Highs are earth's attempts at poor attempts at equilibrium. Fortunately, land heats and cools much faster than water, thus the changes in temp that aid in the development of pressure centers.

But you are correct in that there is no denying that man is changing the weather. Deforestation, like you mentioned, changes the albedo of an area. Knocking down forests for farm land changes the albedo because you are replacing an angular dark surface with a flat darker surface which will better absorb heat. Change that field to a parking lot and the problem gets worse.

Now...that all said, only a mouth-breathing moron thinks there are more forests going up and less parking lots. But that cannot be taken into consideration because it is actual science, unlike what helter wants to spew.

Peace,

Taka

Its hard being a progressive, and constantly having to save the world.

Taka313: I still believe that what we see now is just a beginning. A single person doesn't believe she, just herself, has impact. I blame egoism. Humans are egoist. I'm human, therefore I am also an egoist.

After reading Taka's post, Helter Skelter's post made me laugh so hard my ears got red x___x;;;. Talk about chronicle of a foretold death.

Agreed, Skelter. Oddly enough, Taka is correct too. I know that sounds like I agree with both sides. The reality is, that man does influence the environment. No question of that. That mankind can change the weather. However this idea that mankind is to blame for everything. If there is a hurricane, its caused by global warming, which was caused by people, that is wrong. Nor is there any evidence to prove this. Like the people who claim increasing hurricane activity is a result of global warming. Its a bunch of nonsense.

So, while mankind can change the weather, and indeed the climate, people can't take credit for global warming. At least not without a heck of a lot more evidence. Preferably the untainted kind.
