Maybe Japan should copy this law too.

Well that's a good idea. Now what are these people going to do about battered and humiliated husbands, whom no one anywhere takes seriously. This is along with men who were sexually abused as children by women.

There is a sinister subtext to all this. It says that men as still in charge, that ultimately they call the shots. Only now they have to be nice dictators.

In Malaysia, so it would seem.

I think emotional violence needs to be addressed in many societies, yes including both men and women. Emotional violence tends to be passive-aggressive, the attacks manipulated as to seem to be jokes and harmless words when they are not. It is true there is a balance somewhere (the backbone, as some call it) but emotional violence is not any less real because of it. Bullying could be easily included in this category, because bullying includes emotional violence as in psychological attacks. I would hope Malaysian legislation in this field will be well structured and a case study to follow, hopefully to apply the best aspects of it in other societies according to their needs.

Take my wife - PLEASE!

Oops, I'm in trouble. In and out of bed.

Any man who calls his wife "ugly" had better watch out! I know if I did that, I wouldn't have a safe place to sleep at home! Kind of like the guy who forgot his wife's birthday...in the ensuing argument, she told him that she had better see something in the driveway the next day that goes from 0 to 150 in 3 seconds flat. To her surprise, there was a small box in the driveway the very next day that was elegantly gift wrapped. She quickly opened the box only to find bathroom scales inside. They were divorced shortly thereafter, and he lost almost everything.

They'll need to make a reciprocal law against wives who take a magnifying glass to the marital bed.

Utterly ridiculous. I can just see it: A guy and his wife are strolling through KL and he whistles at a poster of a bikini-clad Korean model (or whatever nationality). His wife gets jealous, then claims he insinuated she was 'ugly' by whistling at the model's picture. EMOTIONAL ABUSE!
