A typical left-leaning loser who has a clear history of violence and supporting ActBlue.

Yes, he parrots the left's "threat to democracy" talking point. Traitor.

It almost sounds like he should not have had a gun.

He was “on the FBI radar”- as expected.

yet only disabled elderly people who threaten Democrats online get FBI raids where they are shot to death at home.

In 2018, Routh moved to the small town of Kaaawa, Hawaii, about 45 minutes outside Honolulu, to go in business with his adult son building small wooden sheds. According to his LinkedIn page, the structures would “help address the highest homelessness rate in the United States due to unparalleled gentrification.”

Seems to have been a very eclectic individual. Maybe this incident can bring attention to the Late Stage Capitalist tragedy of how transnational capital and developers acquire real estate and price out the local residents and are generators of homelessness.

To save some homeless through the Eastern winters I have been told social workers best option is just to give them a one way ticket to a warm place like Hawaii.

Of course a thousand hallelujahs from prosperity gospel mega churches across the nation. that Trump was not injured.

A drop in the bucket when declaring our allies must be abandoned is the entrance requirement of the MAGA.

Hardly. He voted Trump in 2016 and supported Tulsi and Vivek.

I.e., right leaning loser who has a clear history of violence.

A placard he was holding said: “We cannot tolerate corruption and evil for another 50+ years. End Russia for our kids.”

He openly posted hatred towards Russia all the time.

What does "End Russia" mean

What is the psychological state of people who post this type of stuff?

The line between hate and violence is very thin.

Or maybe he’s a loon that doesn’t need to be out on the streets.

Where it is a homeless paradise, not to mention the drug use and pedo lifestyle is very common thing

Yes

Crack cocaine, conspiracy theories and guns. Any one of these will screw your life up. Another crackpot with a legally bought gun and a headful of nonsense.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

I'm sure there are plenty of disillusioned former Trump supporters, but none of them would resort to using a gun to solve the problem. Luckily, the Secret Service did their job and stopped him from firing a shot.

I'm sure there are plenty of disillusioned former Trump supporters

And new follower supporters…

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

a headful of nonsense.

And calls are growing for people who filled his head with anti-Putin and anti-Trump hateful nonsense to take responsibility for spreading hate and spurring violence.

Because hate leads to violence.

This is the 2nd time in 2 months.

We can't allow hate and violence to become normal

Just another nut job like the guy who viciously assaulted Nancy Pelosi's husband.

At least Biden has the decency and good sense not to snicker and laugh about this.

BTW, how was this guy able to get his hands on firearms anyway with his criminal history?!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Comedy gold from AP. Routh's ramblings sound like most of the neocons on social media.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

It appears the rifle he held was illegal and had the serial numbers removed. Apologies for my mistake, I stand corrected.

Are they joining BRICS?

In a tweet in June 2020, after the police killing of George Floyd, Routh said then-President Trump could win reelection by issuing an executive order to prosecute police misconduct. However, in recent years, his posts appear to have soured on Trump, and he expressed support for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

So this guy was a former MAGA-warrior, who then turned on Trump...

That seems to a recurring thing in MAGA-world...

He joins Pence, Tillertson, Sessions, Mattis, Kelly, Cohn, Barr, Bolton, Epstein, Malley, et al...

And the registered Republican that took the first shot at him...

Have to think there's still a lot more disaffected MAGA-warriors out there...

Just what I though another Nut - Case with a Gun as always. One thing to be pro freedom and democracy then another to attempt to kill others for speaking their minds.

Lock him up or better yet send him to Ukraine to help them in their fight .

2 ( +4 / -2 )

There he goes again: this guy is a propagandized Ukraine fanatic who has completely lost touch with reality.

Look at photo 1 and 2 - read the sign he is holding in Kyiv.

Please world. We need everyone here. There is good against evil. These children want normal lives. We cannot tolerate corruption and evil for another 50 years. End Russia for our kids.

His is an unfortunate - but all too typical - product of the debasement of facts and logic which have underpinned the pro-Ukraine/anti-war rhetoric which has deformed common sense.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

We need an emotional tribute song for Ukraine as support stalls,” he wrote. “I have lyrics and music.”

Has the FBI released these yet? The people have a right to see them.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

He's only changed with gun violations. He will be out again someday.

Supporting an invading fascist country like Russia is what defies common sense.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

That is precisely the rhetoric - calling Russia 'fascist' - that this guy used. An obvious result of propaganda and demonizing one side, while ignoring the factual origins of the conflict.

Sad fact is many quarters have fallen for this because it has been spread and propagandized by the media in a way only Orwell could have dreamed.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

He was just carrying out his second amendment rights. Now you have Republicans punishing someone for this?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Looney. Iranians are not in the business of killing foreign leaders. That is reserved for deliverers of freedom and democracy.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Carrying a bag of change clothes and carrying a firearm with a filed off serial number has nothing to do with upholding second amendment rights.

Putin’s imperialism.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

So he was just advertising his book with some guerilla marketing? Seems legit.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"Putin's imperialism". It just keeps coming like a geyser doesn't it.

Obscuring the origins of a conflict in exchange for loaded, emotional and distorted terms is the byproduct of what the media has been pumping out.

The supreme irony is the former quote is also used in the book/manifesto mentioned in the article penned by Mr. Routh.

The origins of the conflict are indeed driven by imperialism. Ukraine threatened to join the EU, so Putin annexed Crimea and started the war in the Donbas in response.

The supreme irony is the former quote is also used in the book/manifesto mentioned in the article penned by Mr. Routh.

From what I understand, it is a pretty crazed book. Interesting that it had some truth to it.

The secret service is a joke. It's obvious that Trump needs additional security. How many more incompetent mistakes until the secret service realizes that they need to step up their game?

What an extreme left wing loonie.

He was probably coming back from a hunting trip. Totally legit.

As for the serial? A bear probably scratched it off whilst he was out hunting.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Worrying part is Ryan Wesley Routh is clearly not an outlier but part of a deeper malaise that is much wider and indicative of a much larger, entrenched problem.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Routh appears to be just another Lee Harvey Oswald, albeit with less luck, fortunately for America.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Investigate and find out who was behind this loon, and perhaps you may find it's the same person(s) behind the first assassin.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

How many other of these kooky, crazed, former MAGA-world members are out there with their AR15s - ready to shoot Trump who they feel betrayed them or all the "Libs"?

These nutters are dangerous - they aren't mature enough to own a firearm...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

We have to face the facts here. He voted for Trump in 2016, However he's a registered Democrat that has been confirmed by Newsweek. Routh first registered with the Democratic Party in February 2012, with his voter information describing him as an "active" member. The report, produced by data analytics company Lexis, also identifies Routh as a 58-year-old with 100 criminal filings, almost all of which were filed in North Carolina.

The guys a nutter plain and simple. MOTIVATED TO KILL BY DEMOCRATIC EXTREME LEFT VILE RHETORIC HE WAS FED FROM THE MEDIA! I blame the media for not censoring the Democrats.

As a Republican I commend Joe Bidens statement yesterday. Well done Joe No place in America for this violence. None!

This guy just proved that the words of certain Democrats have a profound affect on some in the general public and most of it if not all of it. Fabrications to grow hate sew divide and violence. That's todays Democratic party. This is on you and your party Democrats. Own it!

He’s spent his time voting for republicans, so not left wing.

Incorrect. We will eventually learn of his motivations, but it wasn’t any Democratic rhetoric.

I agree the guys a nutter - a far-right nutter...

What makes you think he isn't a MAGA-evangelical that is enraged Trump no longer believes life begins at conception and that his support of a 15 week abortion ban means he's a "baby killer"?

Or a MAGA-loyalist who bought into Trump's lie that the election was stolen, then he admitted that he "lost by a whisker", and threw them all under the bus?

Given the article says he was a former Trump supporter, that sounds a lot more likely...
