But he said Thompson, unemployed and consumed by a steady diet of conspiracy theories, was vulnerable to Trump's lies about a stolen election. He described Thompson as a “pawn” and Trump as a “gangster” who abused his power to manipulate supporters.

He probably believed Trump's "jobs and prosperity" gift of subsidies and tax cuts to corporations was gong to make him rich and the only thing holding him back was those socialist libs.

Five people died due to this riot.

Trump encouraged them.

Argue as much as you want, both these are facts.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No wait, he's an FBI-trained leftist infiltrator!"

yes the latest court filings show at least 20 of those FBI infiltrators.

Yep, including Hunter, Hillary, Obama, and Elvis...all in disguise...LOL..

Plus a brand new video showing the police allowing people in to the Capitol through the open doors.

Sure, as they were pummeled and assaulted sending over 140 to the hospital...for these far-right insurrectionists, Blue Lives didn't Matter much that day...

Already one case was found not guilty due to that (but of course that article was not posted here)

Couple months old, so even larger at this point. "More than 725 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol riot. At least 165 have pleaded guilty"....

https://www.npr.org/2022/01/06/1070736018/jan-6-anniversary-investigation-cases-defendants-justice

but muh Jan 6th!

Says Jan 6th is "off-topic" when "Jan 6th" is in the title of the article...

Welcome to MAGA-world....

Guessing he never learned that refusing illegal orders is a duty?

Hopefully, this will take him out of the gene pool for at least 15 yrs where the prison library can help educate him.

Judge Trevor McFadden acquitted one of them of all charges and partially acquitted the other.

He is a Trump appointee, so he should have recussed himself from the trial. If I was the prosecutor in that case, I'd want to appeal the rulings.

No the video that shows police opening the doors and people walking right in as peaceful tourists.

super inconvenient to the narrative. As is people being found guilty and their attempts to deflect blame Trump being disregarded.

Sure, watch it for yourself - right here - just see all the "peaceful tourists" with red MAGA hats pummeling the police, throwing rocks and bottles, using bear spray, trampling on them when their down...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXnHIJkZZAs&ab_channel=NBCNews

I know its hard for your "narrative" but maybe all the pro-Trump terrorists are pleading guilty because the evidence of their guilt is there on video...video they likely took and then posted themselves on social media...

Real smart, huh...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Like many of those who pleaded guilty before him, another MAGA-patriot has "flipped" and turned on his former Messiah....

And the far-righters here once again will show their cognitive dissonance....

"He's a freedom fighter!" "No wait, he's an FBI-trained leftist infiltrator!" "Uh, no...he's a political prisoner!"

When we all know these insurrectionists were mostly weak-minded, poorly educated, easily manipulated individuals that fell for Trump and his cabal of coup plotters brainwashing...

Like McConnell said, “There is no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the event of that day,”

Trump’s crazy flock on January 6th acted like a brainwashed cult group. The defense attorneys should defend those dimwits as though they’re mindless members of a bizarre cult, because that’s basically what they all are.

Trump tweeted again, saying,

He tweeted that out at 8:13pm - after the insurrection was over...and after Don Jr, Ivanka, Hannity all told him to do it earlier and he refused. Remember, McCarthy cussed him out and he still did nothing...

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/mccarthy-trump-got-expletive-filled-argument-during-capitol-riots-sources-n1257805

“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful.

At 8:13 pm, after he told them at the rally in the morning; "We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore,"

https://www.npr.org/2021/02/10/966396848/read-trumps-jan-6-speech-a-key-part-of-impeachment-trial

No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue.

After the violence was over - and 140 police officers were sent to the hospital by these violent pro-Trump domestic terrorists...

Thank you!

Another one bites the dust!- Queen.

And the tools that keep insisting that Trump didn't instigate the entire situation in the first place, until they find themselves facing real consequences and prison time for it.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Idiots. Yeah, Trump instigated the riot but he didn’t explicitly tell people to storm the Capital and these morons did it all on their own. Trump supporters literally have the brains of a dog. Say here boy, come to Washington, and they come.

Just another blind follower of the former Insurrectionist-in-Chief … several million more on the wings.

A nice try by the lawyer who, filled with vituperation, has waxed furious blaming 45's MAGA gaslighting (not without probable cause and some basis in truth), but when is the orange Kahuna going to be called and questioned under oath? The sound of silence from government quarters on high has been screaming in all our ears for the last 16 months.

Everyone has a choice. He chose to go to and enter the Capitol building. He can't pass the blame to a third-party for something he did willingly and the jury recognized that.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

if you take his entire speech and not the tidbits the Dems are presenting, he never called for any violence whatsoever.

Trump knew how zealous his followers were, and he fed them a constant diet of "rigged election" nonsense. He should have known it would lead to violence.

And he could have stopped it, but he didn't want to. He just sat around watching TV for hours. He was happy to see his people acting on his behalf.

“The vulnerable are seduced by the strong, and that's what happened here

There have been many words used to describe those who fell for Trump’s conspiracy trash - stupid, uneducated, hysterical, losers, dregs etc., but I think ‘vulnerable’ is a very good choice of word here.

I still think no matter what word you choose, it wouldn’t show anything like the disdain Trump showed towards the vulnerable by misleading and humiliating them.

I think ‘manipulative’ is a better choice of word then ‘strong’ in the sentence I quoted. Trump is at core a scam artist and quite good at it.

Comedy gold....

The Trump supporters here trying to push the hilarious narrative that these pro-Trump domestic terrorists on Jan 6th assaulting police officers, rampaging and looting Capitol offices, and chanting "Hang Mike Pence" while building a gallows outside....is all just "free speech" by "normal tourists"...

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2021-01-15/prosecutors-capitol-rioters-intended-to-capture-and-assassinate-elected-officials

And maybe they have a point....just look at all the tourists who visit Disney World each day and march through the Magic Kingdom chanting "Hang Mickey Mouse"....

Welcome to MAGA-world....

If you are too stupid and trust Trump, go to jail

0 ( +7 / -7 )

Like many of those who pleaded guilty before him, another MAGA-patriot has "flipped" and turned on his former Messiah....

Well, when you and your family are threatened with lengthy prison sentences and family being ostracized from society, you’ll save your family, of course you would.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

actually his defense that Trump ordered him to do it was denied.

The left could care less about that very critical fact.

Meaning that Trump did not order him to do it, and is/was uninvolved with his decision.

The left could care less about that very critical fact.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Trump had already wound up his supporters for weeks claiming the election was a fraud.

Far different from telling them to “riot.”

I didn't tell my supporters to riot at the Capitol Building.

True.

Trump returned to the White House and sat in a darkened room for hours watching it all unfold. Didn't call in the National Guard.

And why didn’t Pelosi do anything knowing about this unfolding since she was head of security and briefed on the potential of what could unfold?

The party of law and order didn't want to follow the laws for electing a new president.

Seems like the current party in power don’t want to see equal Justice under the law work itself out.

"US media outlets reported last week that a congressional panel investigating the 2021 riots discovered a seven-and-a-half hour gap in the White House call records at the time when rioters were ransacking the Capitol."

The liberal media outlets they know that this is their last hurrah and that the time clock is ticking with this investigation that will in the end go nowhere again, but that doesn’t mean that they will stop and try and I get it, but in the end nothing is going to happen Kinda like with Trump’s social media outlet as the left say.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Trump knew how zealous his followers were, and he fed them a constant diet of "rigged election" nonsense.

well, millions of people will believe that, just as you have millions of people believing that Trump colluded with the Russians in either site will convince the other otherwise so…..

He should have known it would lead to violence.

at the same time people didn’t know that their rights will be taken away from them and they didn’t know that they would be arrested for exercising that right in the people that are still held in detention and not in a prison and without the first amendment rights or even having the Miranda rights read, this is appalling and no human being should go through this.

And he could have stopped it,

He did tell them, that’s already documented and when it goes up in front of the committee his lawyers will verify that he did say that. he told his supporters to be peaceful and not to engage in violence, bingo.

but he didn't want to. He just sat around watching TV for hours. He was happy to see his people acting on his behalf.

Yeah, That argument it’s just not going to fly and if they’re going to use that and think it’s going to help booster their side, they’re in for another sad awakening

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Not so sure about that brains of a dog analogy, the left do their own dancing as well and it’s amazing that all of the news pundits say the exact same talking points and literally word for word….coincidence?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Trump encouraged them.

Argue as much as you want, both these are facts.

Well, legally that’s going to be the biggest hurdle for Democrats. Because if you take his entire speech and not the tidbits the Dems are presenting, he never called for any violence whatsoever. Once again the left is setting themselves up for yet another letdown.

I think and with big certainty that the establishment has n Washington has more disdain for Trump and his voters and that’s the danger that worries them and with good reason judging by the almost every single poll.

I think ‘manipulative’ is a better choice of word then ‘strong’ in the sentence I quoted.

The very word invented by the left, literally.

Trump is at core a scam artist and quite good at it.

Well, this administration is proving to be just that.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

nope just read this article.

The person is guilty, as Trump was found to have not ordered him to enter.

The guilty person is responsible.

If Trump had ordered him, this person would have been found not guilty.

Its quite simple. but whine some more.

Trump’s crazy flock on January 6th acted like a brainwashed cult group.

So when Democrat supporters tried to vandalize a federal building and Trump trying to call in the National Guard and was denied the request and the mop continued was seen as expressing their first amendment rights was ok, but huh? What changed?

The defense attorneys should defend those dimwits as though they’re mindless members of a bizarre cult,

They’d not mindless for expressing their first amendment rights. I get it. Both sides thinks of each other as a bizarre or following a cult and the few that stormed the building as trespassers should pay a fine, other than that, the left need to hurry and get this out of the way because by the end it the year, this too, shall be regulated to the books of history

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Doesnt mean what you think it means.

“I think our democracy is in trouble,” said District Judge Reggie Walton, adding that “charlatans” like Trump don’t care about democracy, only about power.

“And as a result of that, it’s tearing our country apart,” the judge said.

personal opinion, and partisan name calling, unrelated to the case. biased judge should recuse himself if he cant put aside his own opinions and biases.

Matches the liberals news talking points exactly. danger to democracy!
