So by the downvote you mean you don’t remember or you’ve been paid enough to not care?!

I just feel sorry for the average person in the Philippines! The elites will no doubt make money off whoever gets in power….

Not to mention this Marcos can't go to the US because he is a fugitive there.

Because the uneducated and ignorant with a vote have forgotten or never even knew the history of the horrors perpetrated by the Marcos crime family and fascist cronies, history will surely repeat itself as a bad apple doesn't fall far from the tree. To make matters worse the gangster president, Duterte, has for years been resowing the seeds of fascism in the fertile soil of Philippine crony capitalism guaranteeing a harvest of more bad apples and bequeathing the dupes of "democracy" another autocratic regime riddled with violence and injustice.

When I was in the Navy there were quite a number of Filipinos in it, maybe there still are. I got along with most of them, I was some good friends with them. During my term there Ferdinand was overthrown (1986) and Cory Aquino took over. She was well liked and admired.

But now she's out of office and dead. The Marcos family has been allowed to return and start their influence again and all the jokes about the 10000 shoes and Imelda's 'singing career' have been forgotten. And even worse there's that gangster dirtbag Duterte.

I just feel sorry for the average person in the Philippines!

Me too. I remember Marcos and his personality cult with that ugly stone statue in the mountain (since then blown up) and his 'New Order' or 'General Order Number One' oh WTH crapola.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.

Which candidate is USA bank-rolling? That's the one I wouldn't vote for.

Marcos has a massive social media campaign, including YouTube videos that seek to portray him and his family as regular people.

Pro-Marcos groups have also flooded Facebook with fake and misleading posts to revamp the family's image and smear main rival Robredo.

If I recall recent world history correctly, didn't the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini somehow got elected into the Italian senate and lipped off with violent homophobic yap-yap?

And then there's Argentina. Juan Peron got ousted, then he returned in the early 70s to reimpose his fascist rule and when he died his widow took over, complete with the fascist salute in a now iconic photo from 1974.

Thank God there have been no more Hitlers, Francos, Tojos, Amins or Milosevics in power after the original dictators were gone. People and nations must remember!
