Let us all hope this stirs up unrest in China. I hope the authorities are worried and that citizens start questioning the scum unelected public officials running China.

Well people of China, expect either (1) no more World Cup coverage or (2) mosaic being placed over match spectators. Xi Jiping is slipping when his cronies let this one slip through the censorship.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer nation. Not only do they censor information to their own people, but they try to influence us through pro-China discussion forum bots/humans. Don't get sucked in!

Is it just stubborn pride that prevents the Chinese government from altering its approach?

The cost to the nation must be astronomical. I hope the people never forget or forgive what Xi is asking them to sacrifice.

Thousands of Chinese have been escaping from their domestic prisons.

They falsify the covid deaths.

Live and let live.

Was a funny scene in a packed bar last night.

Most people were enjoying the game like the spectators on screen sans masks.

The rest looked very silly.

“Must be true”

Apologies and that was sarcasm aimed at the CCP and its idiotic policies, just in case I wasn’t clear.

When is this going to happen in Japan???

It isn’t because this isn’t an authoritarian dictatorship, and while imperfect, the LDP isn’t THAT stupid. Unlike the CCP, it is at least marginally responsible to the electorate. And the electorate realizes that with vaccination (using proven safe AND effective vaccines - not the sinovax, responsible masking in crowded areas (No, I don’t like them either. Yes, I wear them on the train because I’m a responsible member of an interconnected society.), and other responsible safety measures, these draconian measures are not necessary anymore.

With China’s repressive dictatorship everything is about control, of every aspect of society to the furtherance of the party’s and its gerontocracy’s hold on power. This failed policy is just another aspect of that. Due to the cult of personality built up around one man, he can not be seen to be wrong or fail in anything, the more so something as high profile as this. Pooh bear has nailed his colour’s to the mast in this regard so cannot back down.

I'm in Bangkok on holiday.

All Thai people wearing a mask.

That surprised me.

The Chinese people are not ready to embrace a maskless, or at least an open society allowing people to live their lives AND keep Covid at a minimum just like they’re not ready for multi-party voter-elected democracy.

So says the CCP, so it MYST be true, right? Right???

If only this was true...

Once the country opens up, which it obviously must do eventually, they will certainly have to go through these pains though unless some new treatments appear.

I'm sure that complaints are becoming more popular, because the 200 plus people a day who AREN'T dying, and their families, friends, mentors, mentees, admirers don't KNOW emotionally, that the reason they're not dead, grieving, feeling abandoned, frustrated, empty is because of the inconvenience and discomfort and 'hardship' they experienced in the lockdowns.

On the other hand, their economy knows that there aren't 6,000 people gone forever, and 600,000 people struggling to do the even the minimum due to the disease.

The latest is, that Xi himself has COVID.

If the British used a Lettuce to compare to the longevity of their PM with, and the Ukrainians used a Watermelon to compare against Putin, what should the Chinese use for Xi ? The World Cup duration ?

Brilliant question. Only a radish would know.

I’ve just read that in China they’re going to digitally place masks over everyone’s faces for the broadcasts…spectators, players, coaches, commentators…everyone. They can do that, don’t you know?

Give yourself a big pat on the back. People who are actually responsible members of society let their actions speak for themselves. They don't need to tell everyone within earshot how morally superior they are.

As clearly written in the article, since other countries managed to get a similar control of the pandemic without the lockdowns the population could still enjoy not having hundreds of deaths daily while being at the same time free of the lockdowns, all thanks to very effective measures that lower the risk after infection so the need to lose jobs, freedoms and lives to the lockdowns become unnecessary.

When is this going to happen in Japan???

Since the China style lockdowns in Japan only exist on the minds of some people then "this" is going to happen only in the same place as well.

If People wear the mask, get vaccinated and follow prevention measures, the restrictions will be lifted soon..

That soon is not coming for China, which is the whole problem, actively refusing to bring effective vaccines from outside of the country (and people refusing the low efficacy national one) is only working too well for the CCP, that clearly prefers to have the population in a tight control, even if that makes no sense in the long term for public health.

Those are sanitary measures to prevent more contagion, which are rising..

Now what? "fascist china, fascist china??" or "Putin's fault??" lol !!.
