“We are well prepared today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow," said Dr. Uwe Janssens,

Hats off to Germany, showing a country can care about its economy and general public health at the same time.

I'd like to see journalists actually do their jobs and investigate whether all countries are using the same reporting standards for deaths, rather than just blindly reporting claimed death without the slightest bit of questioning.

Germany, talk to Abe, maybe you can convince him to change his mind about mass testing.

In other words, Germany is very precise and only people who die that actual had the virus get counted in the figures while Italy is sloppily including a whole bunch of natural deaths in their figures. Italy’s numbers are inflated, Germany’s are accurate.

Why would Italy want to inflate their figures by including non Covid-19 deaths in their figures?

Absolute nonsense, from someone who claims Covid-19 is "just a bad cold" and "completely exaggerated" and "all hype".

It isn't that Germany is so great as much as how totally disorganised and useless the governments and health departments of most other countries are.

One of the better run countries in the world. Perhaps having a scientist as leader rather than some of the circus acts and rich-kids around helps in these situations.

I have a friend in Germany (lives in Mitte/center of town), used to hearing at least 10-20 ambulance sirens per day, who says he hasn't heard a single siren in about 10 days.

which would require global co-operation, require nations to agree to a standard of how those deaths are tallied, and for nations to be honest in tallying. Free, for-profit press after all. Journalists are doing their jobs. Nations aren't. To some partisan extremists, especially those believing in a political messiah, 'the media' have become a substitute for the devil, a single source to blame the evils of the world on.

The fact that Spain and Italy — which have seen much more intense outbreaks — are doing fewer tests indicates they are missing many mild or asymptomatic cases

Explains the death rate right there.

As for the total death numbers, keep in mind how Italy counts: Co-morbidity is disregarded, everything is counted as Corona. If Germany did that, their numbers would be closer to Italy's too.

That is not to say that testing is not good (it is), but people who take these numbers without looking at how they are created get a totally misleading picture.
