2 million border crossers, many flown all over the country. Not sure why we should feel sorry for New York.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

New York is giving an example of humanity and solidarity with refugee immigrants who have been inhumanely treated as merchandise by the cruel, corrupt, medieval trumpys of DeSantis and Abbott..

Fascists/trumpy GOP have already taken away women's rights, now they're going after immigrants, blacks, muslims and the LGBT community...

This fascist disease must be finished off this November..

2 million border crossers, many flown all over the country. Not sure why we should feel sorry for New York.

I sure don’t.

New York is giving an example of humanity and solidarity with refugee immigrants who have been inhumanely treated as merchandise by the cruel, corrupt, medieval trumpys of DeSantis and Abbott..

I agree, NYC is a sanctuary state and while people are leaving for Freedom, because NYC is beyond out of control crime, taxes murder is up 55% this year alone, police are quitting at an alarming rate, so if the new mayor wants them, let them into that now communist city.

Fascists/trumpy GOP have already taken away women's rights,

No, they did not, they’re ensuring that the weals rights are not taken away. Women now have a choice, they can choose and decide where they want to go. Fascism would be denying them and the unborn that right.

now they're going after immigrants, blacks, muslims and the LGBT community...

Nonsense

This fascist disease must be finished off this November..

Yes, Democrats are in serious trouble this November and it’s really bad news for their party.

Somehow the image of New York as a compassionate and generous city has never been foremost in my mind.

Hopefully, it won’t end up like San Francisco…

1 ( +10 / -9 )

I still have mixed feelings about Gov Adams, but he gets my respect for this. We are a nation of immigrants and we should never forget that. Much better to be a place that people want to move to than a place that people want to flee. Just need to make sure our immigration policies keep up with this changing world.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

because NYC is beyond out of control crime, taxes murder is up 55% this year alone,

Murder in NYC is up 55% this year?

Of course you have a link to prove this.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

By the end of its fiscal year, Adams said the city expected to spend $1 billion helping the new arrivals, many of whom are heavily reliant on government aid because federal law prohibits them from working in the U.S.

Many on the left recognize the inherent contradictions of providing extensive social support to undocumented migrants. When their are so many homeless and precariously working citizens with little support.

Now though the anti-immigration forces are mostly made up of those in favor of dismantling most social services even for citizens.

All of this could have been avoided had the Dems secured the border. This is another mail in the coffin for the Democrat party. Over 2 million illegals have entered the country this year. The WH refuses to acknowledge and talk about the border, won’t allow the border patrol agents to do their job, last week a disheartened border patrol agent took his life, morale is low, crime is out of control and it’s to the point where solid blue voting Hispanic Democrats that live in the Southern part of Texas are voting Red, even they don’t want this and the Dems are losing the Hispanic vote. They chose this route and the people are responding by leaving the Democrat party.

Republican and Democratic politics have both failed in doing that.

Time to crack down on the traffickers and employers who support an ecosystem which draws in migrants.

A step in the right direction is defining in law the difference between the term’s “refugee”, “asylum-seeker” and “migrant”.

At the moment politician’s view these people as political basket balls. Bouncing them up and down the country.

Not in my back yard Sonny Jim, thank you.

There is nothing more cynical than a politician, they know who they are, waxing lyrical about…..

“New Yorkers have always looked out for our immigrant brothers and sisters. We see ourselves in them. We see our ancestors in them, though our compassion is limitless, our resources are not."

The reality, they whisper, is build that wall higher -- go on at least admit it, send them back!

The present administration is faced with the same migrant political conundrum as the last, in finding an economic methodology on where to stack them.

New Yorkers are starting to feel the smell the "stink" of the temporary sheltering right on there door step. And they don't like it or want it.

Sorry it this not the case.

It is pointless top toeing around the issue.

Carjackings raced out of control in the Big Apple last year, surging 55 percent over 2020

Bass, did you read your link? It doesn’t say what you purport that it says. Did you mix up murder or carjacking in your mind perhaps? Also, the city was pretty locked down in 2020, not as many cars on the road then. I wonder why Murdoch’s NY Post would use 2020 as the baseline year. Do you think this might be a biased source?

Neither of those links mention an increase in the murder rate.

Several Texas border guards have committed suicide.

Suicides including these have set off alarm bells throughout the agency responsible for policing the nation's borders. After nearly four years without a single suicide in their ranks, border agents are killing themselves in greater numbers. Records obtained by The Associated Press show that at least 15 agents have taken their own lives since February 2008 — the largest spike in suicides the agency has seen in at least 20 years.

“This administration continues to crumble what’s left of morale and is taking the U.S. Border Patrol to irreparable levels of destruction,” a Border Patrolagent stationed at the southern border previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Standing behind someone has now taken a different meaning. Trust in leadership has been cheapened.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/border-patrol-calls-suicidologist-address-rising-suicides-among-rank-file/

Abbots Operation Lone Star failed them, not ‘the Dems’.

Wrong. Nowhere in any of the articles state this. The blame squarely falls on this administration for not allowing these agents to do their job and that’s to secure the border, this is why Abbott and DeSantis are sending illegals to blue states. The Dems want these people taken care of, so I’m more than willing to use my tax dollars to send these people to the states that support sanctuary cities.

But Yes, it does, but hey, you don’t have to believe it and we don’t need to debate it and you don’t need to recognize the stats, once the Dems are out of power then maybe it might sink in. The rest is noise, so spout off, you have 4 weeks left. That money spigot for Biden is coming to an end.

From your article link Bass

“In 2022, 11 CBP employees have died by suicide as of September, according to federal data obtained by the Examiner going back to 2007. The number was the highest in 2009, when there were 14 CBP suicides.”

That’s another crisis ‘out of control’ increase is it?

This unwelcome situation is a serious global human rights issue, it cannot and will never will be addressed just throwing borders open and hoping, sugar coating the economic consequences.

This is not some sort of mythical political Moses thing.

Take the L on the 55% increase in murders, Bass. It’s not in the articles. You saw the 55% number regarding carjackings, and for some reason (hopefully an honest mistake) subbed in the crime of murder. If it’s an honest mistake, no problem, we all make those.

Of course we all make mistakes, duly noted, the fundamental problem here is that, the border is out of control and morale is beyond low and to clarify once again, crime over 55% is up overall, but suicide is on the rise. Myorkas is not allowing these people to do their job bottom line and it’s costing the Dems, now for some reason and that’s beyond me, the Dems think with these disastrous policies they can retain the House and that’s so far fetched from reality, I’m just stunned that they don’t see the cliff in their path.

Forget about the links, if a "migrant" crosses a "border" for whatever reason, however without permission, finds themselves in, lets call it a "refugee camp",

Unable or forbidden to find employment so spends there days scraping by on the meagrest of food and sustenance, opportunities are zero, what are the odds on this hoard of human misery not turning to crime to find a better life.

I'm laughing because the NY State Highway Patrol greeted the most recent buses from Texas with a group of their motor carrier safety officers. They conducted detailed inspections of both buses and wrote all four drivers as each bus had two drivers to permit around the clock driving dozens of citations with notices to appear in court in New York. At least one of the drivers and the bus were based in Mexico, not the US and only had permission to operate in Texas. The Highway Patrol made it clear they will continue to inspect buses from Texas so we shall see how willing bus companies and their drivers are to make the journey north in the future. For the drivers cited a failure to appear could haunt them for years and be very costly.

From what has been reported quite a few companies are stepping up and more will be bused. That’s a great thing. Abbott and DeSantis will continue to do this and will probably excel the process until this administration acknowledges the crises, definitely it will be addressed once the GOP retakes the House, then there won’t be any room for them to run from or ignore.

Only someone with no experience with immigrants and who is blinded by their biases could write something like that. The great majority of these immigrants including the "illegal" ones work harder, save more and are more honest than native born Americans. The crime rate for immigrants including the so called illegal immigrants is half that of native born Americans.

We know that and that’s not the issue, never was. Please stop with the liberal WH talking points, the point is, the border is wide open, most of the illegals are vetted and most importantly, and as I have stated, the people along the borders are tired that the CBP and all border patrol agents as well as Myorkas won’t allow these people to do their jobs.

The crime rate for immigrants including the so called illegal immigrants is half that of native born Americans.

That number is going up and fast.

I don't think immigration is a left or right debate, as both ideologies have the same difficulties to overcome.

The total length of the continental border is 3,145 kilometers (1,954 mi). From the Gulf of Mexico, it follows the course of the Rio Grande (Río Bravo del Norte) to the border crossing at Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and El Paso, Texas. Westward from El Paso–Juárez, it crosses vast tracts of the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts to the Colorado River Delta and San Diego–Tijuana, before reaching the Pacific Ocean.[5] .......Wiki

That is a hell of a wall to build and monitor, so it would be wise to actually perhaps discuss this subject with your neighbours rationally

This human trafficking of migrants by Abbott and DeSantis is especially egregious...

DeSantis in particular - he used Florida taxpayer money (money that could have been used in hurricane relief efforts) and flew TEXAS migrants to Martha's Vineyard....

Then we find out these migrants were all in the US LEGALLY - they were Venezuelans fleeing the Marxist Government and requested asylum at the border, were granted initial legal entry by Immigrations pending outcome of their requests...

Even worse, they were all LIED to - they were told they were being sent to areas where jobs and homes were waiting for them...

DeSantis and Abbott are no different from the criminal cartels and coyotes that lie and scam migrants in Mexico...

And as for asylum seekers, perhaps some of the MAGA-warriors here can explain why they welcome Cuban migrants fleeing a Marxist regime, but spurn Venezuelans and tell them to go back home...

From their view, all those Cuban migrants in South Florida need to go home too...

So when will DeSantis, Scott, and Rubio tell the Cubans to leave?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

@Desert Tortoise But do you come from a family of illegal immigrants? Huge difference.

Filthy rich folks in the US love illegal immigrants because they can underpay them and not offer any benefits.

The US has really poor social mobility; people born into poo illegal immigrant households are probably going to stay poor and not even take 1 step up the ladder.

Middle class Americans tend to be supportive of high levels of immigration but against illegal immigration because they actually are sympathetic to the plights of illegal immigrants and their children who get stuck in intergenerational poverty.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

This human trafficking of migrants by Abbott and DeSantis is especially egregious...

But when the Dems ship illegals to red states it’s acceptable?

*DeSantis in particular - he used Florida taxpayer money (money that could have been used in hurricane relief efforts) and flew TEXAS migrants to Martha's Vineyard....*

Most Floridians are fine with this, not to mention the Dems created sanctuary cities just for people that didn’t want them or that they felt were unjustly persecuted. Go there.

*Then we find out these migrants were all in the US LEGALLY *

Most were not and the ones that were should go to sanctuary states, that’s what they were designed for.

they were Venezuelans fleeing the Marxist Government and requested asylum at the border, were granted initial legal entry by Immigrations pending outcome of their requests...

If so, then why won’t Martha’s Vineyard take these people in, as you said, they are supposedly seeking political asylum. That island has the financial funds and enough land where they can build government housing for these people, I’m puzzled as to why they’re not welcomed there, they should be.

*Even worse, they were all LIED to - *

As were the American nation about the border. Why does this administration send illegals to red states or flies them in the middle of the night? Why? You’re saying when the WH lies about illegals and relocating them it’s ok, but when conservatives do it, it’s bad.

*DeSantis and Abbott are no different from the criminal cartels and coyotes that lie and scam migrants in Mexico...*

No, they’re not packing people like sardines in trucks, raping, or dealing with the cartels, they’re not killing anyway, they’re just relocating them.

All US states should be taking their fair share. America is short of workers and it is pushing up inflation. Biden's infrastructure plans will also require migrant labour. Most migrants want to work. Let them.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Desert Tortoise, your are right, I have no direct experience in the "immigrants" you mention.

However I do have experience in employing nationalities/migrants from over 23 European countries, and all the necessary ordeal of paperwork, dealing with the UK home/foreign office.

The only way is the legal route, and yes there is going to be winners and losers.

I am inspired by your comments, that not sarcasm, genuinely noted.

You are lucky, timing or otherwise, some are not. I have no idea what the crime rate is amongst migrants and no wish to find out.

My comment may seem harsh, Desert I will endeavour not to blinded by their biases, you are not alone others have been blunter.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

All US states should be taking their fair share.

It’s not working. California, and NYC are great examples of that, more homeless, higher crimes, less need for migrant workers, as a result you’re seeing more illegals on the streets

https://harvardpolitics.com/the-case-for-immigration/

America is short of workers

No, absolutely not.

and it is pushing up inflation.

Those are this administration’s policies and not because of illegal migration

Biden's infrastructure plans will also require migrant labour. Most migrants want to work. Let them.

When will that take place? It’s been 2 years now. Driven through the streets in NY recently?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Secure the border and problem solved

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

They are not MIGRANTS. Migrants are people legally in the country, usually traveling workers that move around. These are ILLEGAL Aliens. Get that STRAIGHT, that’s 90% of the problem

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

A few buses of illegals to New York City is an “emergency”?

What about the border towns that have had to deal with 2 million people a year illegally entering our country?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

They are not MIGRANTS. Migrants are people legally in the country, usually traveling workers that move around. These are ILLEGAL Aliens. Get that STRAIGHT, that’s 90% of the problem

Um, no. This is factually incorrect. Any person from anywhere can present themselves to a border or other enforcement agent and apply for asylum. Once processed, they are given a court date (which takes too long) and can apply for permission to work until their case is adjudicated (which again takes way too long).

They are not illegal aliens. Period. Full-Stop.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Illegal aliens. DACA is unconstitutional.

In a case reviewing the legality of the “Dreamers” program that President Barack Obama created to let some illegal aliens stay in the United States, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit repeatedly referred to illegal aliens as “illegal aliens.”

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Period. Full-Stop.

You forgot the common liberal pattern of “let’s be clear” at the beginning before using “period and full stop hoping people will just accept your false statements.

Surprised we don’t have the “no.people.are.illegal” pattern yet.

they.are.in.fact.illegal.as.the.court.ruled.such.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

hey.are.in.fact.illegal.as.the.court.ruled.such.

The court did no such thing. It ruled on DACA in a narrow aspect.

Asylum applications are an entirely different issue and as a signitory to the UN human rights convention (which America championed) asylum seekers have a right to have their cases heard and adjudicated.

They are not illegal aliens. That is a fact.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

These people are not claiming asylum.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

*Um, no. This is factually incorrect

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

They are not illegal aliens. That is a fact.

Then why do the court documents ruling them as illegal identify them as such. The exact wording is “illegal aliens”.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Asylum seekers have documentation that allows them to be in the United States until their cases are adjudicated which again, takes too long. They can apply for work permits which again takes way too long.

They are in the United States at least for the present with the full knowledge and authorization of the United States Government.

That makes them by definition, there legally. Not permanently. 60% of them or more will have their applications denied and will be subject to deportation. But for now, they are not illegal immigrants.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Except Russia, what are people from these countries seeking “asylum”from?

The number of border crossers from India, Turkey, Russia, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia and Nicaragua increased in part because it is harder for border agents to subject some of those nationalities to the Covid-19 border restrictions known as Title 42 that let the U.S. quickly send migrants back to their home countries.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I think the bigger problem is the Xenophoic, anti-foreigner attitudes of the "America First" rabble. They are by and large, just a mob of racists and xenophobes (but only non-whites).

They fear immigration because of the bald-faced lies told about immigrants since the founding of America.

It's hatred dressed up as "law and order".

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You know we actually do have a legal immigration process, don’t you?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

They are in the United States at least for the present with the full knowledge and authorization of the United States Government.

Great then they can travel wherever they want to. And reside anywhere including New York and Martha’s Vineyard right?!

or should they all stay in Texas or just go to Florida and pick the crops?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

bass4funk

That is your opinion. When you lived along the border you’ll have a different opinion

One million Syrians crossed your border in Germany. More than 30 years since you lived in California.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Martha’s Vineyard used the military to deport all their illegal aliens within 48 hours.

that’s not “racist”? If they are really legally in the USA how can other people forcefully remove them from where they decided they wanted to live?

no one in a legal status could lawfully be removed by the military like that.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

It appears many do not understand how the asylum system works. Each seeker must apply; their application must be screened to ensure it is accurate and that asylum is deserved; if yes, the applicant is placed with a friend or relative already in the country; if no, the applicant is returned to their own country.

This is a long process, usually taking six months - sometimes more. In the meantime, the applicant is generally released into the community or may remain in Federal custody. Rural or suburban areas are best suited for this process, areas with plenty of inexpensive housing and food. If Abbott had sent them to, say, Illinois, that would not have been a problem. But New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world and already has a housing shortage.

Abbott was not trying to solve the problem. He was just being an insufferable d!ck.
