Well done, good and faithful servant!
Cruz understands that his lord 'n savior can take away his senate seat just by thinking about it.
2020hindsights
Ted Cruz is such a sleaze. This legislation is a no-brainer.
This is McConnell giving a clear indication to the loony election-denying people of his party, that they are alone.
dagon
Mitch McConnell is the similarly corrupt, ethics-free American version of Taro Aso.
An immensely negative influence on human progress and waste of carbon.
lincolnman
I have a feeling the Mad Moron of Mar-A-Lago hates McConnell more than he does Nancy and Schumer....
ROFL...
Speaking of "rage", Ted Cruz is the only Texan I know that would debase and grovel themselves before someone that insulted his wife AND Daddy...
That's an unforgivable sin for any real Texan...which we all know Cruz isn't...

Good, so whether Trump or DeSantis run and beat the pants off of any Democrat contender coming in 2024 there won’t be any denying or challenges from the left as well, so this will protect both sides and knocks out any possible election deniers either side could bring up.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he will “proudly support” legislation to overhaul rules for certifying presidential elections, bolstering a bipartisan effort to revise a 19th-century law and avoid another Jan 6 insurrection.
bass4funk
Great! Now neither side will be able to contest the results. This is good.
Nemo
Yeah,
January 6 wasn’t a both sides thing. It was one side, Bass’s side challenging a free and fair election based on a lie.
When challenging it did work, Bass’s side tried to overthrow the government.
So not a both side’s thing.
Nemo
It’s like Jeffery Dalhmer getting caught and saying “Great! Now nobody will get to murder and eat innocent people!”
Until Bass’s sociopathic moron came along to whip up some idiot rubes, nobody even thought of doing something so horrible based on a completely bs lie
plasticmonkey
So why is Trump against it? And are you breaking with Trump on this bill?
Blacklabel
oh this again.
Leave Ray Epps alone, whoever he is? he is just a poor schmuck just tryin to get by!
so if Mike Pence couldnt do anything, why are they having to 2 years later pass a law that....would have actually prevented Mike Pence from doing anything?
plasticmonkey
lol
Neither DJ Trump nor Rock Star Ronnie will come anywhere close to winning the popular or electoral vote.
Blacklabel
why yes they did Turtle, yes they did.
thanks for remembering to bring that up at the end.
bass4funk
Yes, it is the same as liberals did all they could to drum Trump out back in 2016 to the false dossier, Russian collusion delusion, the Mueller investigations, the failed impeachments, denying and calling him illegitimate, so yes, in that sense it’s the same on many levels.
We all have our thoughts and opinions on that day.
Funny, the courts never established that. Trespassing and at best trying to add a sedition charge. No overthrowing any government.
Yes, bit sides because it’s putting the Dems on notice as well that they will not be able to contest any future elections as well. So if Eric Trump would run and manage to win, they wouldn’t be able to contest it, so yes, I’m for this. Like Harry Reid blowing up the senate filibuster was a great move he had, had he not then Mitch and Trump would have never been able to appoint 300 conservative judges. So Mitch has shown to be smarter than he acts.
bass4funk
Doesn’t matter, that’s not how we elect a President, we have our electoral college system, that’s all that matters.
wallace
In 2016 the democrat supporters did not riot and loot the Capitol Building.
bass4funk
They did it by other means which I just outlined and your attempting argument shouldn’t be with me, I’m just agreeing and equally thrilled with this bill.
wallace
Biden won both. Popular and Electoral.
plasticmonkey
Read my post again. Notice I mentioned the word electoral.
Blacklabel
both ABC News/Washington Post and Harvard have Trump beating Biden in even the popular vote.
Must pain them so much to even publish it.
bass4funk
Yes, and I reiterated that key word.
Hmmm, but as far as the popularity in US elections are concerned it is irrelevant going in a general election. If it made a difference or a requirement in being elected you might have a point.

Trump just hates not winning the popular vote. 2016, 46.1%. 2020 46.9%. The majority of voters never supported Trump.
Nemo
This is the “don’t let the Mara-lardo moron and his idiot rubes do it again” bill.
For all the “I’m just interested in election security” bs, the orange blob seems strangely isolated. Maybe even his toadies have had enough of him?
Nemo
And Joe currently beats the orang blob by about 4 points, more than last time.
Donald Trump is at even for him historically bad polling. Less than 34% approval, only slightly more popular than genital herpes.
He’s not winning an election. He’s going to jail. But even from jail, he’s not winning a race for greeter at Walmart.
bass4funk
Why are the Feds and J6 committee going after this guy then? Been 6 years now.
No, he’s not, if that were true he would have been gone a long time ago.
Cards fan
It's been 2 and a half years since January 6th insurrection. And generally police go after crooks, so maybe that's why they're going after that guy?! I dunno.
Nemo
His final destination is the lowest circle of Hell, but he will get to make a pit stop (geologically speaking) in federal prison and/or state prison.
bass4funk
Yes, the President has the constitutional authority to commute and pardon anyone he wants, there won’t be a Democrat president in 2024 so yes, it will happen just ask Flynn, Stone, Manafort and Papadopoulos….
”Trespassing”, there’s nothing legally in any court documents that legally calls the event an insurrection. Even the DOJ knows this. That’s why none of these people were charged with insurrection. They know they can’t use that charge.
No need for Church sermon
Again, that’s not going to happen, the sooner the left gets this, the easier it is for them to stay focused on the real issues that matter, the economy first and foremost over everything else.
Nemo
5 different criminal investigations, former rubes now running to the DOJ to save their own skins, his own lawyers are in legal trouble.
Yeah, he’s going to prison - then to Hell.
That his chief cheerleader, who’s been wrong - consistently wrong about everything says it won’t happen only reinforces the belief that it will.
Mocheake
Ted Cruz is an effin clown and a total disgrace. I can't wait for his inevitable fall.
Nemo
You confuse mockery for racism. Given your "ability" to understand context, it's not that surprising.
bass4funk
He’s been sued and investigated more times than the “Area 51” UFO files for over 6 years
In a Dream, perhaps, but in reality, not a chance, the bloodlust the left and establishment have for Trump would have buried him under the jail if they could find something to throw him in and after 6 years of being unrelenting in that endeavor, they still have nothing, it’s not going to happen, maybe when Hillary goes to prison, then you might see Trump go as well, other than that, the left should just give up on that fruitless wish.
plasticmonkey
You think this bill will stop Democrats from investigating criminal wrongdoing by a sitting president?
You’re going to be mighty disappointed to find out the bill relates not one whit to such constitutionally sanctioned acts of congress.
And please don’t bring up McCarthy’s gavel or Gym Jordan.
plasticmonkey
Sedition is quite a serious charge, as you imply in following utterance:
What’s gonna happen in 2024?
bass4funk
….or the Republicans investigating current ones?
It definitely relates to any future President right or left that they won’t be able to contest an election, that’s good for both sides going forward.
Plastic, it’s J-I-M not “Gym” If I changed Kamala’s name (and there are so many ways to do that) you’d be all over any conservative labeling them as being disrespectful, same rules apply, but yes, things will be different once McCarthy takes over Pelosi’s position.
bass4funk
Yes, but none of these people will be in prison beyond 2024
You won’t have a Democrat President.
Busby
Caption to above photo....
Shelby: Did you hear Trump was just indicted by the DOJ for obstruction of justice and by the Georgia AG for solicitation of election fraud?
McConnell: What? Halleluiah! Best news I've had since Nov 4th 2020...
dagon
The alt-right posters keeping on harping on these future election projections and they are true in a way.
Biden's Neo-liberlaism cannot compete against the never-fulfilled nationalist appeal of Trump and his ilk.
Have a real alternative like Sanders and his wing and there would be a much different result.
This is what the Replublicans and Democrats can never abide by. A real alternative.
plasticmonkey
McConnell is a horrible human being who has no vision for America beyond his own financial and political interests But he’s smart enough to see the writing on the wall for the GOP if it continues down this MAGA path. That’s why he’s cool with this bill. It’ll be one less way for the lunatics to take over the show.
bass4funk
To the Dems credit even they’re not stupid enough to vote and support a radical socialist. That is not going to happen.
