McConnell endorses Trump for president

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell endorsed Donald Trump for president on Wednesday, a remarkable turnaround from the onetime critic who blamed the then-president for “disgraceful” acts in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack but now supports his bid to return to the White House.

Trump is the modern apotheosis of the GOP, uniting its big tent xenophobic fundamentalist wings and crony corporatism.

McConnell is just acknowledging how Trump has managed to dial it up to 110 with a cult of personality instead of just fat cat corporatist suits.

“We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation, and former presidents are not immune from being accountable by either one,” he said.

Well, to a point and for once you are saying something that is true. The GOP of today are not the Reagan Republicans of a decade ago and the roles between the parties have flipped, the GOP have become the party of the poor, working class and some or no college degrees, whereas the Democrats have become the party of the affluent, the educated, corporate and the powerful elite. Mitch did a lot for the party, thankful to him for helping to get 3 strong conservatives appointed to the highest court in the nation and to block Garland from the bench. I will always be grateful for that. The GOP of today is the Trump MAGA party, the party is anti-establishment and pro-America first. Mitch was a globalist, he was just way out of touch with the minds of modern conservatives of today for the most part. Glad he endorsed the former President, now Nikki needs to make the same move soon.
