It sounds like some of the lines in Melania Trump's speech have been directly lifted from Michelle Obama's 2008 speech with a couple of minor changes.

Some are asking who would be stupid enough to think they'd get away with this.

10 ( +18 / -8 )

Let's give Melania credit for this. She borrowed, copiously, from the speech of one of our country's greatest First Ladies.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Wow. Someone posted the plagiarized speech on Facebook and I thought, "Yeah, right." I can't believe she actually did that. Now that they've been caught they're going to have to really increase the anti-Hillary rhetoric.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

This from the Guardian on the similarities between Melania Trump's speech and Michelle Obama's:

“Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values, that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do,” Obama told the gathering of Democrats in 2008.

“From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do,” Trump said in 2016."

It looks like they couldn't even be bothered making slight changes in some parts. I feel sorry for her. They've humiliated her in front of millions.

What next? Trump having a dream of yes we can fight Muslims the beaches and ask not what the KKK can do for you?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

It's not surprising that Melania (or, as Tex would have her, Mrs. Trump #3) plagiarized Michelle Obama - words are hard, especially, apparently, in the Trump family. Interesting is what Melania (Mrs. Trump #3) chose not to plagiarize - Michelle:

You work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.

Melania (Mrs. Trump #3):

From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise; that you treat people with respect.

Notice that she eliminated the "even if you don' agree with them" part. Might also extend to " don't look like them" or "are not them" - you know - those kinds of people, like Michelle. The words are good enough, but the people? What would the neighbors say?

Either she is quite stupid or someone on Trump's team is really stupid.

Either she is quite stupid or someone on Trump's team is really stupid.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably both.

Melania responds:

"These accusations about my speech hurt not only me, but also hurt my children Sasha and Malia."

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/18/politics/gop-convention-speeches-fact-check/index.html

CNN fact checked some statements. Here are some of my favorite results:

Clinton's proposed policies and past rhetoric do not reflect open borders. That's false.

Therefore, Sessions' statement that immigrants have taken all the jobs is false.

Ernst didn't provide any evidence that there are ISIS terrorists in all 50 states. Therefore, we judge her statement false.

(that's a great 1-2-3 punch. "We have open borders and immigrants have taken all the jobs and now we have ISIS in all 50 states!!!!")

Glenn also said American neighborhoods have become more violent since Obama has been in office. According to the most recent FBI data, violent crime across the nation has decreased since 2008. The violent crime rate (or the number of violent crime offenses divided by the U.S. population) was 458.6 in 2008 and 365.5 in 2014 -- a 20% decrease. Glenn's assertion here is false. (takes balls to just lie about easily checked numbers like that)

Because Clinton's role in the attack in Benghazi has been thoroughly investigated and she has been cleared of wrongdoing, we find Smith's claim of culpability false. (This one is pretty sad. Maybe she's in a state of grief and isn't thinking clearly, but her Republican handlers are consciously choosing to put on stage the mother of the deceased and contradict what has been researched again and again and again.)

That plus the Duck Dynasty guy and Scott Baio probably kept people happy for the night.

It matters not Jimizio, Trump supporters are such morons it won't even register the disgraceful plagiarism. Let alone the irony....

6 ( +11 / -5 )

sfjp,

Why don't you respect the majority voting in the U.S.? You don't believe in democratic system?

My comments were on Trump's wife's woefully plagiarized speech. From Mrs Obama of all people so I'm not exactly sure what you're on about? I repeat that I wouldn't expect a Trump supporter to get hit upside the head with the irony of all that.

Interesting how the "family value party" is the first in history to have a former nude model speak at a presidential party's national convention !

"Plagiarism"

Bit of an academic term for a Trump audience. Half of them will be locking themselves in their trailers expecting a biblical swarm of locusts after reading that.

Benghazifest. Sympathy would no doubt be due to the four Americans who died there - if they were able to put theloss of their loved ones into perspective. Pat Smith, whose son, Sean Smith, died with Ambassador Chris Stevens that night in Libya, said,

The tragedy in Benghazi is not about America. I blame Hillary Clinton. I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son.

Imagine if Clinton brought up 25% of the families affected by the deaths of Bush's Iraq adventure. Wikipedia notes:

As of June 29, 2016, according to the U.S. Department of Defense casualty website, there were 4,424 total deaths (including both killed in action and non-hostile) and 31,952 wounded in action (WIA) as a result of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

So that would be a bit over 1,000 mothers bemoaning the deaths of their children - who were, after all, sent there to kill, unlike Ms. Smith's son, who was sent there to make peace.

As a father, I would normally have sympathy. Here, I'm sorry to say, I have zero.

Antonio Sabato Jr., who was featured as a prime-time speaker probably because he is a Calvin Klein model (tighty whities for the right), asserted in a later interview that President Barack Obama is “absolutely” a Muslim.

We had a Muslim president for seven and half years. I don't believe he is a Christian. ... I have met a lot of Christians, know a lot of Christians. I am one, and I don’t believe he is. ... I believe that he's on the other side...the Middle East.

So there you have it. When an Italian-born Calvin Klein model opines on native-born Americans, you should - wait, why the hell was an Italian-born Calvin Klein model even invited to speak?!

Anyway, here is a secretly-recorded video of how Trump and Sabata's interview went down:

Trump has been vague about how he would put the nation on a different course, offering virtually no details of his policy prescriptions despite repeated vows to be tough.

He's talking to Republicans. He doesn't really need to say much of anything about policy.

By the way, how was the Duck Dynasty guy? I didn't get a chance to see him. Who knew all those years ago that he'd be addressing the nation before a Presidential election as the face of the GOP? I sure didn't.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Some of my favorites:

Scott Baio: "It’s important for you to know what it means to be an American. It doesn’t mean getting free stuff." -- Like Donald Trump. He never inherited anything.

Willie Robertson: "I have a theory about how they missed the Trump Train. They don’t hang out with regular folks like us, who like to hunt and fish and pray and actually work for a living." -- Nice theory. The Donald is regular folks who likes to hunt and fish and pray.

Melania Trump: "Everyone wants change. Donald is the only one that can deliver it." -- Not Jesus, not Superman, not even Saint Ronnie. Only my husband, a pompous egomaniacal billionaire reality TV star. And I wrote this speech myself. Mostly.

Rudy Giuliani: "Donald Trump is a leader." -- He is our leader. He is unser Führer!

Rudy again: "We must not be afraid to define our enemy. It is Islamic extremist terrorism." -- And if you all put your hands together, clap, and repeat after me these magic words, our enemy will disappear.

Ret. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn: "Lock her up, lock her up ... Damn right." -- FBI, FBI, I do not like that FBI. And while we're at it, waterboard her to make her tell the truth about Benghazi. It's what Trump would do.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Wow, bass and the others are now completely FREAKING OUT! haha! TOO funny! The woman completely plagiarised her speech, which only moments before was being heralded as the highlight of the convention and with posters like himself saying they doubt she did, and now it's proven she plagiarised and now only is every sentence "whatabouthillaryobama" but now "whatabouthillaryobamayoulibs" for every WORD!

No wonder they can't hold their party together!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

"Melania Trump stole the show. It's no surprise the reason for this is she stole the speech."

"Compared to Obama stealing our lives and Hillary....lol...well, you get it. If you do that kind of comparison, Melania wins hands down on that alone."

A textbook example of your WhataboutHillaryBenghaziROFL response. What in the name of plagiarizing from possibly Muslim women and eyelash 'beating' are you leadingfrombehinding about now?

I'm taliking about plagiarism. You're 'flandering' and ROFLing about only Benghazi knows what.

Just give your opinion on the plagiarism. It doesn't look good, does it?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Melania Trump's speech was amazing but I preferred her I have a dream speech.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Ok. So I had some fun yesterday, but now the seriousness of matter needs to be addressed, even though I'd like to just go on mocking. Or, as Melania Trump would say:

"Yesterday. All my troubles seemed so far away. But now it looks as though they're here to stay."

Anyways, some thoughts:

First, the plagiarism did happen, and is a thing. "That he’s sloppy, erratic, in so many ways the opposite of the virtues he claims to embody. And, let’s not gloss over it, this is a depiction of a campaign—a campaign that nurtures white grievance and resentment—trying to profit off the work of a black woman, from an African American family that Trump and his supporters regularly belittle. The fact that the plagiarized text in question was about the value of hard work just makes matters worse."

Republican stonewalling and trying to change the subject to anything is only gonna play to the fanatic base, who are already in the bag. IOW: Trump ain't moving the needle.

In short: this is a political gaffe; as defined by not a meaningless mistake, but instead an egg-on-the-face, unforced stepping in it that, critically, reinforces a deal-breaking character flaw in a candidate. Think Rmoney and his 47% gaffe. It solidified the his unflattering image as a born with a silver spoon in his mouth, let-them-eat-cake, blood-sucking capitalist. Here, Trump comes off as a guy way in over his head. He's trying to re-invent the modern political campaign, and it looks like he's just wingin it. In a bad way.

Here's how he could have done it right:

The Donald is very well known as they guy who said "You're fired." That image, the Head Honcho, holding court and dispensing with underlings as he deems fit, is a winner for the authoritarian types. Y'know, the ones he praises as being "undereducated." The problem here with the Melania thing is no one seems to know who to hold responsible for the mix up. And its not, like, very hard to do a google search and prevent things like this. IOW: sloppy. And since no one seems to know who is responsible, The Donald cannot ride in on his white horse, point his finger and shout "You're FIRED!"

That would have been a masterful way to turn this to his advantage.

But he and his team don't get it. They think what worked for the primary -- attack, attack, attack -- will work in the general.

Which it won't. Because the Republican base does not represent the average American voter. The Republican base, as we've seen yesterday and two days ago, things Hillary is in League with Lucifer, and needs to be imprisoned.

Because they are, as we all know, insane.

Moreover, the Republican Party must be destroyed.

Meredith McIver has claimed responsibility for inserting passages in Melania Trump's speech that resembled parts of a Michelle Obama 2008 speech.

Thank goodness.

Melania can go back to being a fake wife of the fraud Trump University founder and forget her plagerized speech about how much she loves her husband.

Pathic. This 'Trump Family Fraud Show' shouldn't be renewed for another season.

Trump introduced Melania with "We are the Champions". That should be really unexpected from conservatives. It was by the gay singer-writter Freddy Mercury, who died of AIDS. That seems to be against these conservatives values. Freddy is one of my favorites.

If you look back at the speeches today ( I saw a few ) it is Melania Trump's which the GOP were most excited about. Listening to a speech ripped off from a highly educated Democrat must have felt like reading Tolstoy after being brought up on a diet of Sean Hannity books and the 'Left Behind' novels or listening to the Beatles after Ted Nugent.

There is hope for these people. Class will always shine, even at a GOP convention. You just need a Republican to read stuff written by a Democrat.

"One thing that I love about liberals, there constant focus on perfection, which is THE ONLY thing that they care about, lacking on substance and big on loudmouth snide attacks and diatribes, that's the only thing that they have and then the Dems wonder why Hillary is not a landslide ahead of Trump. LOL"

Nobody is asking for perfection. Anything approaching literacy and speaking in complete sentences would suffice. The military headbanger I watched making a speech sounded like a shell-shocked yokel after a lobotomy.

Melania Trump stole the show. It's no surprise the reason for this is she stole the speech.

@Bass

Let's look at the idea of race in the modern GOP. This from yesterday's Vanity Fair:

"CONGRESSMAN STEVE KING MAKES WHITE SUPREMACIST COMMENTS ON LIVE TV

During a panel discussion on MSNBC on Monday evening, Rep. Steve King of Iowa said that white people contributed more to civilization than any other categories or “sub-group of people,” causing a live segment to devolve into on-air chaos.

As the show broadcast from Cleveland, where much of the conservative establishment has gathered for the Republican National Convention, King responded to comments made by Esquire writer Charles Pierce as the panel discussed Monday’s upheaval on the convention floor.

“If you’re really optimistic, you can say that this is the last time that old white people will command the Republican Party’s attention, its platform, and its public face,” Pierce said. “Of course, I thought this was going to happen after 2012, but thanks for the good work of Congressman King, I was disappointed . . . But I’ll tell you what, in that hall today, that hall is wired. It’s wired by unhappy, dissatisfied white people.”

“This whole ‘white people’ business does get a little tired, Charlie,” King said. “I’d ask you to go back through history and figure out, where have these contributions been made by these other categories of people that you’re talking about. Where did any other sub-group of people contribute more to civilization?”

“Than white people?” host Chris Hayes asked.

“Than—than western civilization itself, that’s rooted in western Europe, eastern Europe, and the United States of America, and every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world,” King said. “That’s all of western civilization.”

At that point, the panel erupted in chaos, and Hayes pleaded for calm. “We are not going to debate western civilization,” he said.

Calls and e-mails to King’s office were not immediately returned."

What do you think? Is King just being non-pc? is it just the over-sensitive liberals?

Let's be honest here. If the name of the supremacist and his party were deleted from this extract, which party would you guess this man was a member of?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The American people are mind-boggingly GULLIBLE. To have a mere businessman held aloft as "the law-and-order candidate" is completely ABSURD. What do businessmen do? -- they E V A D E the laws as fervently as they can. They hire a battery of lawyers and accountants and say, "Find me a way around this law" "Find me a loophole" "Find me a way to evade income taxes" "Find me a way to evade federal/state/city regulations" "Make me a bunch of shell companies, to hide my true earnings"

So the law-and-order candidate in this election, American dimwits, is not the businessman with zero experience in public service.

Right, because guys like John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, George Carlin, and Bill Maher are/were "never good at it."

One thing that always intrigues me about some people is that they actually believe making blanket statements and over-generalizations is an intelligent way of conducting a debate or having a meaningful discussion.

dom, if you've read Michelle's 2008 speech and appreciate the power of beautiful rhetoric, you would not have said that. It was a poetic flow of the confluence of their lives and the muses (and thus ideologies) that led them to politics and, ultimately, the presidency. You can read it here. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93963863

Melania's speech, on the other hand, was a laundry list of meaningless platitudes. She might have well have stated, "America is open to immigrants, as long as your husband-sponsor has enough money to support you through your and his next marriage, just in case! And in America, this can happen!"

No. This is what makes America great. Unlike other countries that cannot listen to other opinion,s it listens to all opinions. In the end, it all works out.

Mmmmm, but both major party candidates this time around really, really suck. You've got people on both sides giving keeping the opposing party candidate out as their top reason for voting for their own candidate.

It's a matter of which will suck less, rather than which is actually going to make America great again.

Creepy, and very much, another fraud in the Trump hall of shame.

Trump's wife hasn't any credibility or position of any respect earned by any hard work she pilfered from First Lady Obama's speech of 2008.

That Trump continues his domination of the Republican National Committee reveals a more sinister aspect of the Trump Campaign.

With only 44% of Registered Republicans voting for Trump, some 56% were muzzled and forced to listen to the surreal cries of 'hard work' from two people who never worked a day in their lives selling a freak show of terror-mongers one after another at the RNC.

Scare and Sell, a tried and true tactic for fear peddlers.

The RNC Halloween House was early this year but expect it a set piece in the Trump Purge of Reason.

The two people who have no place lecturing Americans on Safety of any kind by sowing fear into every Campaign event are Donald and Melania Trump, including this opening day of the RNC 2016 'War on America'.

If American's want to be safe from Trump the only protection they need is the Ballot Box on November 8th.

Reckless and Dangerous needn't be the future Trump creates with his sham marriages or rabid prejudices.

I doubt anyone will be fired. What most likely happened was that these passages among others were part of an first run template put together by someone in the campaign as a jumping off point for everyone to get their thoughts together which got passed around under the guise of a draft copy of the final speech. Not the end of the world but it does show a certain amateurishness in the Trump operation (at least in this instance).

Both MO and MT were talking about a set of social values that has become part of the collective consciousness and is reflected, over and over, in social discourse all over the world. This same set of values has been pointed to in speeches and writings for centuries. MO was not the first person to use it and MT will not be the last.

Both sets of my grandparents gave me the same speech (repeatedly) almost verbatim, as did my parents.

The concepts of working for what you want, that your word is your bond and treating others with respect, are generally considered admiral qualities (at least in the US). And most, if not all, American political ideologies address them as such. There was no new ground being broken by either MO or MT, they were just repeating the an old line that just about everyone agrees with or at least has heard before.

If you look at MO's 2008 DNC speech you can find a number of instances where she could be accused of plagiarism if you were so disposed. "Your word is your bond" is an attributed quote by Melvyn Douglas, Neither MO or MT attributed that quote to him; are they both guilty of plagiarism? No, because that quote is in such common usage as to be public domain. When MO quoted her husband (in her 2008 DNC speech) as saying "the world as it is" and "the world as it should be" she was actually quoting Saul Alinsky, directly lifting the words from his book without any attribution.

People should be looking at the real issues instead of looking for a petty "gotcha" opportunity. It's well.....kind of petty.

@baass

Sometimes liberals do have a hard time making light of stuff like the unfunny 22 million deleted emails during the Bush Jr regime that conveniently prevented congressional investigations from uncovering the truth (can I say "obstruction of justice", or am I lacking a sense of humor?) On the other hand, come to think about it,there may be some truth to your bitch about liberals because the super-liberal moderators at JT have removed more than a few of my, admittedly, sarcastically funny posts as, "off topic". Maybe we should all ponder the wisdom of the "liberal" Multatuli who wrote that sarcasm is the most intense expression of grief. Or is this thought not funny enough?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Right, because guys like John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, George Carlin, and Bill Maher are/were "never good at it."

With the exception of Carlin, the rest are mediocre at best.

One thing that always intrigues me about some people is that they actually believe making blanket statements and over-generalizations is an intelligent way of conducting a debate or having a meaningful discussion.

Then liberals should stop doing it, best advice to them.

Can you imagine if Obama, Michelle or either of the Clintons plagiarized a speech? We'd be going through four years of congressional investigations at millions of dollars.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2014/01/bush-speechwriter-obama-plagiarized-bush-182184

Barack Obama “Don’t tell me words don’t matter.” As then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) surpassed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, largely on the strength of his oratory, Clinton said that Obama’s record was “just words.” Obama responded in a speech whose refrain was lifted from then-Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. The Obama campaign did not even bother to refute the claim. Instead, it circulated examples of lines that it said Clinton herself had borrowed from Obama. The left media defended Obama, saying that he had not committed plagiarism, but merely, at worst, “poor footnoting.”

Hillary Clinton “No bank can be too big to fail, no executive too powerful to jail.” After the Obama campaign accused Clinton of stealing lines in 2008 — a claim supplemented by The New Republic, which accused her of stealing lines from then-Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) — she ought to have learned her lesson. But in 2016, she stole lines from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who responded by telling NBC News’ Meet the Press, jokingly: “We’re looking into the copyright issues here.” Clinton was accused of lifting other lines, too — and Sanders supporters responded on Twitter with the wry hashtag: #StealtheBern.

Joe Biden “My ancestors who worked in the coal mines…”. Biden was found to have borrowed heavily from the oratory — and the biography — of British Labour Party leader Neal Kinnock, without attribution. In addition, it was discovered he had committed plagiarism while in law school. The scandal helped bring down Biden’s presidential campaign in 1988 — though Biden’s angry outburst at a reporter — “I think I probably have a much higher IQ than you do, I suspect” — didn’t help, either.

Michelle Obama “…the world as it should be.” In 2008, the aspiring First Lady was accused by bloggers of lifting lines for her DNC speech from Saul Alinsky. Alinsky wrote, in Rules for Radicals (emphasis added): “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.” Michelle Obama said: “And Barack stood up that day, and he spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about ‘the world as it is‘ and ‘the world as it should be.'” (Perhaps Mr. Obama who left out the attribution.)

Yeah, can't imagine....

"The Republican Party must be destroyed as well as the Democratic party, Viva FREEDOM"--Melania Trump

That's your minority opinion.

Right back at you, dude.

Back when Dennis Miller used to be funny, he said this: "You know a sense of humor is exactly that -- a sense. Not a fact, not etched in stone, not an empirical math equation, but just what the word intones -- a sense of what you find funny."

Pretty funny.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, the Republican leader of the investigation decided that there wasn't anything to be prosecuted there. If there was, she'd be facing charges.

No, not at all and that is total BS. There are 5 other people in prison right now as we speak that are there for doing quite literally the same thing Hillary did. If you are in the military and have security clearance and the same thing will happen, you will be prosecuted, plus get a dishonorable discharge and all of your security clearances revoked. Now Hillary is the presumptive Democratic nominee, she should be held to the same exact standards, if you don't think so, just be honest about it, but I hate when liberals want to give their own a pass and when it's a conservative throw the book at them. Comey didn't want to sway the election, I get it, I understand, that's why he blew her credibility out of the water. Comey is in NO way a fan of Hillary, but that and Bill meeting up with Loretta Lynch.... It doesn't matter what the Dems want to say or how they want to describe and excuse the narrative, it's the optics that tells the story. That's why after the verdict, her untrustworthy polls dropped.

If anyone gave her a free pass, it was you guys.

Yeah, how so?

But I think anyone with a brain knows that there are no free passes given, just a bunch of lies by the Republicans about what they hoped would be the case, and when it was found out that their lies were wrong, they just keep repeating them in hopes they will stick.

What lies? You mean the Benghazi FBI investigation. Sorry, but the FBI doesn't work on behalf of the GOP. They might get a little pressure sometimes from the White House (ahem) but this investigation was done by the FBI, the GOP only was hoping and praying the charges would come to an indictment, but Bill ironically saw to that.

...which to be fair, they do seem to be sticking. The Republicans are running a very successful smear campaign.

They learned from the best! Remember, the Democrats are masters at lies and deceptions and like I have always said and admitted, Conservatives are too stupid when it comes to lies, schemes and deceptions, but they are learning and they couldn't learn from a better opposition party.

It was a good speech from Melania Trump. A section in the beginning was definitely lifted off Michelle Obama's speech. In an interview before her speech, Mrs. Trump admitted she wrote the speech herself with little help as possible.

Here's a video of the 2 speeches side-by-side - notice not only the same contents but the order of the contents is also the same:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/melania-trumps-rnc-speech-vs-michelle-obamas-2008-dnc-speech/2016/07/19/ce608edc-4d71-11e6-bf27-405106836f96_video.html

Melania Trump is not a politician, so it's not really a big deal. Mrs. Obama's speech is a good speech to lift off from, after all. What's strange though is the Trump campaign PR's response - the usual not even acknowledging the question, where she got that inspiration from (but at least they're not blaming the media this time, though they still can't ever apologize for anything - guys, you're not God, who's the only one that's infallible).

Giuliani had a brilliant and effective speech. I'm not a fan of the screaming deliveries but his delivery was fantastic! Sherif Clark hit the core truth. Marcus Luttrell slightly jumbled the prepared speach then went off the cuff to delive a heartfelt message. And Melania delivered a great speach. If a portion was deliberately plagiarized that's a fatal mistake for that person. I'll assure you it was not the Trumps. If it was coincidence so be it. Melania has class.

So many other speakers were very good. All Lives Matter message was made very clear.

Some are asking who would be stupid enough to think they'd get away with this.

If Hillary can get away with practically murder......

Either she is quite stupid or someone on Trump's team is really stupid.

If a Conservative would call a liberal woman stupid, all hell would break loose. Look, it's not that liberals aren't used to plagiarism, nothing new.

Cant wait to hear how Trumps kids will be critiqued. I also wonder if the DNC will use the term "radical islam" if they dare pull that subject. But they won't- they'll just keep blasting the NRA. Or say something stupid like - we shouldn't water board the terrorist. Silly huh.

You already know. But wait until the Democratic convention comes out, you just wait. Any criticism from the right will be seen as unfair and sexist, you can't and have to be careful not to be sexist towards Hillary, but Melania Trump, have at it. Double standard, naaaw. LOL

Wow. Someone posted the plagiarized speech on Facebook and I thought, "Yeah, right." I can't believe she actually did that. Now that they've been caught they're going to have to really increase the anti-Hillary rhetoric.

Interesting, if the Dems use some illegal Hispanic and she gives a stupid speech as to why she shouldn't be deported and how it's wrong and she speaks in broken English, even if it's coming from the heart, we would have to take her words to heart because we have to have empathy, even if that child reads from a teleprompter? Liberals are too, too funny.

Melania Trump is not a politician, so it's not really a big deal. Mrs. Obama's speech is a good speech to lift off from, after all.

And nothing wrong with that.

A lot of people do it, even Obama. I don't have so much of a problem with it as much as I have a problem with liberals once again, trying to make (yawn) the claim that they are immune from making mistakes, lying or incapable of committing ANY crimes as the perfect race.

Benghazifest. Sympathy would no doubt be due to the four Americans who died there - if they were able to put theloss of their loved ones into perspective. Pat Smith, whose son, Sean Smith, died with Ambassador Chris Stevens that night in Libya. As a father, I would normally have sympathy. Here, I'm sorry to say, I have zero.

Also, as a father, I am so happy you said that! I feel the same about libs crying over something that happened 8 years ago. Now we know were we both stand on the issue. But as you libs say, it's all in the past and we should get over it.
