So a dictator calls Trump a Dotard and that becomes runner up in word of the year?
Doesn’t take a genius to realize these guys aren’t.

Webster's last words:
Feminism & terrorism...... a coincidence.......will leave you all with that to think about

Good choice, IMHO.
She would not be the first to completely misrepresent feminism for ulterior purposes. Probably not the last. Sadly, not even the last on this page.

Feminism is a bit difficult to define actually. I think nearly everyone is on-board with first and second wave feminism (woman's suffrage, equality under the law, sexual harassment legislation etc), but many people have reservations about the so-called 'third wave feminism' we see today.

feminism = socialism. Word invented by left wingers of demoralized West

Not necessarily (unfortunately, perhaps). Someone like Germaine Greer has had anti-abortion & anti-trans rants/positions since forever. Same with female genital mutilation, nothing wrong with that according to her. More recently she, one of the most prominent feminist of the last 3-4 decades, even justified/excused child marriage in some cultures. Many in today's world see Nicki Minaj & the Kardashians as 'the new feminists' or call themselves 'anti-feminism feminists'. So Kellyanne Conway isn't alone (again, unfortunately perhaps).
Re feminism as 2017 'word of the year', I think it's a good choice and hope more ppl (young or not), will read the work of Simone de Beauvoir and other 'old school' feminists who were far from boring, anti-male, asexual etc. Imo nothing wrong with strong yet thoughtful, bright, independent without being anti-male etc women. (well, in a way am glad most blokes didn't/don't get that and prefer bimbos)

Feminism means the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.
Sounds fine to me.

A big problem with feminism is that it now means so many different things & changes with BOTH wind direction and barometric pressure that the word has become meaningless & far too often hijacked & goes off on wild tangents & seems to be more & more militant...
Whatever happened to simply trying for equality........

Funny, that's not a problem with most other words. We don't object to 'love' meaning different things to different people, nor 'happiness'. Even in a specifically political lexicon, words like 'freedom', 'democracy', 'socialism', 'justice', and 'rights' all mean vastly different things to different people, and yet no one tries to make the argument that those various ways to interpret the words somehow invalidate the words.
Nothing happened to it, apart from some radical right-wingers being threatened by the concept and not taking the time to listen to feminists, so they just decided it wasn't about equality because that was easier to face than acknowledging that they might contribute to an unequal system.

Feminism = Witch Hunt.

I don't know which dictionary you use, but it's a rubbish one.
