Time for the US army to go down south a ways and wipe them out. If the US government didn't have reason before, they do now.

I don't know, smithinjapan, the US military is already overextended as it is. It would be cheaper and less deadly to start having the national conversation about why Americans like drugs so much. Drugs are not the problem, but a symptom of a problem. What is the problem and how to solve it? That would require a deep deep look into the Americal soul.

The real answer is just legalize it like we did back in the early 1900's. Yes you could get cocaine and heroin legally in the US back in the early 1900's. That would pretty much cut all sources of drug funding to the drug cartels in mexico.

I never thought I would live to see the day in which you called for the US military to invade another country, especially over a justification such as illegal drugs.

Cartels would form legal companies to sell the drugs then. This also would not eliminate the drug problem US is facing. The problem lies in the demand. As long as there is demand, someone will find a way to meet that demand. If it is not Mexico, it will be someone else.

A very controversial solution would be to treat junkies the same way you treat dealers. It should be criminal to use drugs. Also no treatment. Into the jail, same as drug dealers.

Would this eliminate everything? Nope. It would probably reduce the amount of people seeking drugs since some might get scared. It is a solution and not "the" or a "good" solution.

I do not expect this problem go away unless US has an awakening and stops using drugs. Not gonna happen so better get used to living with it.

It's one thing to kill members of rival gangs, but they seem to be whacking innocent bystanders as well. If these guys were truly smart businessmen they wouldn't be bloodthirsty. What's been happening is insane.

No not really because as soon as they do they would be shut down because of their criminal enterprise past actions such as wide scale murder, that is why the american mafia after alcohol was made legally was pretty much destroyed, that is why they didn't make legal companies.

This also would not eliminate the drug problem US is facing.

It is not suppose to, people are going to do drugs whether you like it or not so don't try and stop them, let them but tax it. Marijuanna is no more dangerous than alcohol or cigs when used through a vaporizer, in fact it is probably less dangerous. So why is it illegal? Heroin and Cocaine, well they were legal drugs back in the early 1900's and you know what american society didn't crumble, look at germany and the netherlands and denmark and look at how they treat those hard drugs.

The goal here is to end the violence around the drugs.

Newsflash Noliving, its not going to stop the violence by legalising it either. Drug cartels are called drug cartels for a reason, they'll just move to something else or keep selling their drugs on the blackmarket.
