At least one woman was reportedly beaten to death in April, weeks after her claim was rejected and she was deported to Mexico. This Mexican woman was beaten to death in Canada?? Then she was rejected by Canada?? Then deported to Mexico?? Not too sure if this news is correct but do no many people in Mexico are sick and tired of all of the violence south of the southern border Canada.

“I came to Canada because I thought it was more welcoming than other countries. I created a life for myself here, but my refugee claim was rejected in March,”

He must be have gotten hold of some of "kool-aid" that most Canadians have been drinking all of their lives. No Canadians here to defend their beloved and self-righteous country? Canadian posters on JT are quick to criticize other nations, especially Japan, and yet silent when their own country gets "nasty". "O Canada!" should be changed to "Oh Canada?"

EM, the woman's request was denied, then she was deported(she was an illegal), and then killed in Mexico. Tragic.

21,000 Mexicans have been ordered deported from Canada since a crackdown on bogus refugee claims and the imposition of visa restrictions on Mexican visitors in July 2009

Good! And Canadians shouldnt feel bad that they actually have the nerve to uphold their own laws.

Aisai - So angry! I can't see what your problem is with Canadians. These poor Mexican have obviously made a choice to want to become ciizens of the bestest, most rightous country in the world!

Mass immigration is not the solution. It is very difficult for folks to integrate, especially after the numbers add up. They just go and create thy own communities and huddle together.

It is usually rare to see immigrants from other countries chilling with locals from the host country, and I think this is wrong. If you want to go and live in another country, you should be prepared to fully integrate into the new society and way of life.

Problem is most immigrants can't or simply don't have any intention to integrate. They just want to create their own communities and this is where a lot of problems start like UNSOCIAL problems and crime.

Countries need to fix their own problems. People should live in their own countries. I know it's easy for me to say - but too much immigration, open doors to any developed nation and the nation goes down the gutter.

Japan is a rare exception because of Japan's very limited refugee intake. Compared to most other countries, Japan is pretty SAFE and their is a very good reason for this. I don't have to answer it. Ya all know!

I just wish all countries and people would work hard and smart, and compete to build great awesome countries everywhere.

Aisai, what should Canadians be defending here? Attitude much about Canadians? Perhaps the other Canadians on JT haven't read JT yet today? Wow, such an off topic post considering the issues at hand.

Canada accepts a lot of asylum seekers - more than most countries - but Canada has its limits. Sorry but where does it say that the woman was killed due to whatever her asylum claims? We have no idea why she was killed - could have been random, she could have had enemies. Regardless, one murder doesn't mean Canada should open the gates any more than they already have.

When is the Mexican government and public going to sort their country out?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Tmarie, great question! When is Mexico going to sort their country?? My guess, it is like asking when will the USA, Canada etc..give up taking drugs from Mexico and other Latin American countries, this is what is fueling all the violence. So, when??

People should live in their own countries.

Not sure about this.

Countries need people from other countries to bring a positive impact with them. Working, paying tax, not breaking the law, raising their children to be valued members of society, speaking the language and accepting, or at least understanding the local culture.

The migrants that are worth dodging are the ones who sponge off social welfare, fill up jail cells, raise uneducated kids and disrespect the place that has accepted them.

You can dish it out all the time but can't take it. And sorry, you really shouldn't be putting Canada in the same category as the US when it comes to the drug issue and getting them from Mexico. If your country wasn't supplying, I doubt the US would have the issues it does with drugs - and illegal immigration... Sort it out Mexico!

No the real question is when is Mexico going to start offering its people real educational and economic opportunities to its people. Brazil has a lot of drug problems but they are improving the educational and economic opportunities to their people and they are thriving. Same with China. The real issue is that Mexican politicians, especially at the lower levels ranks, don't care about their people in terms of giving them an education and economic opportunities.

Oh, looks like I touched a nerve!

It's the same thing, if you can't get into a country legally then why would they want to grant you asylum?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So basically, they want US to let them stay while they CHEATED the immigration system? Is this a joke? Why don't they apply to Sweden? Everyone gets into Sweden.

" megosaa has it correct. It's a-boot."

Only a hoser from Saskatoon would pronounce it that way. It's a-boat in most places.
