This is sad...

World overpopulation is driving more people to desperation. This is the wave of the future.

Whenever I travel outside my home country, I take a cheap $50 smartphone with minimal features, slow CPU, little RAM and zero account connections. Buy a local SIM at the airport.

For me, this is more about unwarranted border searches. I used to carry an $800 smartphone, but discovered a few years ago that a new $200 one did everything. With the yearly improvements, bet a $150 phone does the same stuff today.

As for cash, usually carry only enough for the day which could be $5-$20. If I'm in a high crime/theft city, I'll have about $20 in local currency in a hat, sock, shoe, somewhere odd. Never did this until a friend was pick pocketed 2 times in 2 days on a trip and had his wallet, CCards, and 2 phones in 2 days stolen. He didn't know about the first theft for hours after it happened.
