Looking forward to Junior in the hot seat. That should be entertaining.

I never thought I'd be defending Cohen, but here it is. There are now two things about his recent Congressional testimony where doubts have arisen about the accuracy of what he said. Both concern his subjective state of mind - whether he would have been interested in a pardon, and whether he would have been interested in a WH job. What I'm interested in is information of a more factual nature about his work for Trump. That was the main thrust of his testimony and, so far, it seems to be holding up remarkably well. That's what matters. So, go Cohen, and thanks for shooting big holes into all those areas of Trump criminality.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The right has seen when one of their people tries to play both sides through lies - Manafort lost his entire plea deal and will likely die in prison due to agreeing to tell the truth, then trying to lie after the fact, getting caught up by the facts.

Anyone who things Cohen has not seen that is kidding themselves. The right question his credibility - well he has immense pressure to not lie - everything he says will be fact checked, and if it turns out he was lying, his plea deals are going to be gone, and he'll spend a lot longer than three years in prison.

Sure, Cohen has been a dirty liar. But it's extremely doubtful he'd be stupid enough to lie right now with the consequences he knows very well could end up with him in prison for decades.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Heh. Remember Trump's call to "drain the swamp" - now we've got the swamp creatures attacking each other. Cohen winning his lawsuit to force Trump to pay for his legal defense for having Cohen pay to silence Daniels would be the height of irony.

Lied to Congress about wanting a pardon and wanting to work in the White House. Got neither then he started making up lies.

Cohen's legal team argued that his statement was correct because Cohen never asked the president himself for a pardon

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Lied to Congress about wanting a pardon and wanting to work in the White House. Got neither then he started making up lies.

Speaking of making up lies, if he had made up lies, they would most definitely be public right now. Yet, nothing from his congress testimony has been shown to be a lie. So whom exactly is making up lies? It seems he's said a bunch of stuff, nothing proven to be a lie, while you're saying something that can clearly be shown to be a lie.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

There is video of him saying he wanted to work in WH. He testified he didn’t.

He testified he was not asking for and would accept a pardon. He was looking got one, he directed his lawyer to ask.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Would not accept. Then why was he looking into the possibility of getting one?

Did you ask for a pardon? No, but my lawyer did on my behalf is the answer that isn’t a lie. Not just “no”

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Opps, looks like Cohen just perjured himself again.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Cohen is a convicted liar, among other crimes walking around free clearly spewing whatever words Mueller is telling him to say under duress of going to actual jail. Still back to convicted liar, pretty much anything this guy says is a lie, he should be ignored not treated like a celebrity

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Cohen is singing like a bird, even though he knows he's going to do time.

Of course, he’s got kids. Most people in his position would sing and compose given the circumstances.

And now, as always in these crime organisation scenarios, we're being served the rest of the delicious and dodgy meals on the Trump ticket.

Lol, uh-huh...taking the words of a convicted felon who lied to Congress as well as the FBI...sure...

I may have over-egged the analogies and mangled some metaphors in my excitement.

May have?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Why would Cohen lie, knowing that he'll lose his plea deal in the same way Manafort did?

No one can be trusted all the time, and everyone can be trusted some of the time. A wise man knows the difference. A stupid man needs to assume the person can either be entirely trusted or entirely distrusted, because the stupid man lacks the inability to differentiate which is which.

Sure, Cohen is a liar. So is everyone. No one on this planet has a record of never having lied. The question isn't whether Cohen is a liar - he's not only a liar, he's been convicted of lying when doing so is a crime. The question is whether what he is saying now can be believed or not. A stupid man is unable to discern one way or the other, so they must choose either 'must be trusted' or 'must not be trusted'. Since it's clear that at times he cannot be trusted, the stupid man will determine that means he cannot be trusted whatsoever.

The intelligent person will look at his motivations, listen to what he says and how he says it, compare that to any evidence that would support or contradict what he is saying, and make their determination on whether or not it's the truth based on that.

The deceitful person will know that what he is saying is likely the truth, yet claim he cannot be trusted, so as to try to score points for their team and maintain the swamp/status-quo. This third category is the pathetic category. The stupid man is just ignorant. Bad genetics. The deceitful man is pretending to be stupid for duplicitous reasons.

Trump lies to America everyday, why don't you call him out for it as well? Cohen is a liar, he should be locked up for his crimes. Trump is a liar, he should be investigated and if found guilty, impeached, indicted, and sentenced. Really, I don't get it with Trump supporters. I would gladly vote for a republican who represented America as a strong, stable country. Trump represents America as a weak, lying, conman..

Their motivation isn't figuring out who is telling the truth, or who has harmed America. Their goal is to maintain power, they just don't say this out loud. So instead they obfuscate with all this other crap, saying everything that conflicts with everything else they've said, but they don't care as long as they can hold on to power, at any cost.

Andrew:  clearly spewing whatever words Mueller is telling him to say

Just so we're clear on this: You do understand that there's no evidence of any improper actions on Mueller's team to force any kind of statements or confessions from anyone, right? Trump, his fans, and some of the crazy wing of the GOP decided to start saying this in order to make something made up become real. But it's not real. Yet here you are saying it.

I'd ignore any statements from Cohen that do not contain evidence. But his recorded phone calls and copies of checks sure are nice.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

This is like a big mob trial except Tony Soprano's calling the shots, not the FBI or the judges.

Trump: "Cohen's a rat but Manafort's a loyal soldier."

5 ( +5 / -0 )

This is boring now.  Cohen's lawyer must be a real piece of work.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

It is hard to untangle the conflicting narratives given the unreliability of some of the central characters.

none more so the the orange in chief himself.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

pretty much anything this guy says is a lie, he should be ignored not treated like a celebrity

sorry are you refering to Trump or Cohen!?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

You don’t lose a plea deal as long as you are lying ABOUT Trump. You might even get a better deal after.

Why would Cohen lie, knowing that he'll lose his plea deal in the same way Manafort did?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

blacklabel: You don’t lose a plea deal as long as you are lying ABOUT Trump. You might even get a better deal after.

A continuation of a complete fantasy. Zero evidence of any kind of coercion from Mueller or any rewards for "making up lies" about Trump. Trump and his fans suddenly started saying this at the same time and it became truth in their world. But no actual evidence of it exists.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I can't believe you people that trust a convicted liar that has corroborating evidence for his statements. Us Trumpophiles, however, never question a demonstrated habitual liar like Trump.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

First the Left got in bed with Stormy Daniels and now it’s Cohen. Too funny.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Federal prosecutors have said Trump directed Cohen to arrange payments to buy the silence of two women — porn actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal — who had alleged they had sex with Trump.

Even if this is true, get this now - it's NOT ILLEGAL!

And most Americans don't give a whit about who Trump had sex with before he became president, they care about JOBS and NATIONAL SECURITY, something the Democrats are absolutely NOT interested in.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Why would Cohen lie

To save his skin

Sure, Cohen is a liar

That’s bit of an understatement. Not only is he a liar, but he perjured himself NOT once, but twice.

The intelligent person will look at his motivations, listen to what he says and how he says it, compare that to any evidence that would support or contradict what he is saying, and make their determination on whether or not it's the truth based on that.

An intelligent person can smell his BS in a second especially given his shady dealings that put him in this situation all the more reason for him to switch sides being prosecuted in a State that despises the President to its core, so it would make perfect sense for Cohen to seek out someone that could help him get his sentence reduced and wouldn’t be hostile to him for blabbing and Lanny Davis is THE perfect acolyte.

.

The stupid man is just ignorant. Bad genetics. The deceitful man is pretending to be stupid for duplicitous reasons.

I’m not a rat, i wasn’t raised like that, but if I were facing the time Cohen was originally facing, i clearly understand why he did what he did, but it looks like he’s found himself once again in a big pickle.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Trump is a liar, he should be investigated

He already is. There are 17 active investigations going on, now for what, it’s anyone’s guess, but it should suffice, should it not?

and if found guilty, impeached, indicted, and sentenced.

It probably won’t come to that. If you go by that standard, there would be no one left in Washington.

Really, I don't get it with Trump supporters. I would gladly vote for a republican who represented America as a strong, stable country.

Then it should be Trump/Pence 2020

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

First the Left got in bed with Stormy Daniels and now it’s Cohen. Too funny.

After Trump.

Even if this is true, get this now - it's NOT ILLEGAL!

If it were for the purpose of influencing the election, get this now: it IS ILLEGAL. Tee Hee! Oh my . . . HAR!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Ever been facing serious criminal charges?

First the Left got in bed with Stormy Daniels and now it’s Cohen. Too funny.

Now that is too funny - evidently you don't know who literally got into bed with Stormy and McDougal...

The Trumper's mantra;

 - "Cohen is a liar, a sleezeball, a convicted felon"....well yea, he was a Trump employee. That's a requirement for a job with Trump - you have to swear to lie, even under oath. I don't believe a thing Cohen says; now or when he was Donnie's right-hand man. What I believe are the checks, the documents, the hard drives, the tapes...and they're all in Mueller and the NY SD Attorney's safes.

The other Trumper mantra;

 - Nothing here folks...person under investigation.

 - He won't be tried....person indicted.

 - He won't be convicted....person convicted.

 - He won't go to jail...person is in an orange jumpsuit.

The continual shifting of goalposts - we'll see this same scenario play out with Dimwit Donnie...

That has no barring on whether the payment was an intentional campaign finance violation.

its his own money. So if that’s a violation I think people would be surprised. The FEC has had 2.5 years to impose a fine and have not so.....probably ok?

its his own money. So if that’s a violation I think people would be surprised.

Whose money it is, is not the issue. The issue is not disclosing campaign finance information. And again, for like the 100th time; Cohen is going to jail in part for campaign finance violations. Donald J. Trump is listed in the sentencing memo as Individual 1.

The FEC has had 2.5 years to impose a fine and have not so.....probably ok?

Or perhaps the charges are in one of the 3 dozen sealed indictments?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Still back to convicted liar, pretty much anything this guy says is a lie, he should be ignored not treated like a celebrity

He confessed to be a liar - should this confession also be treated as a lie?

He lied to protect Trump. Unsurprising because Trump is a proven liar who surrounds himself with liars and criminals.

He lied because the the Trump Organization was still seeking money from foreign backers, something that at best would be embarrassing if not illegal. Imagine sacrificing yourself to save Trump - I bet he regrets that now! A sociopath like Trump will discard those who no longer serve a purpose.

Once he no longer had any incentive to protect Trump he had no need to lie.

Anything on Trump yet?

Serrano: they care about JOBS and NATIONAL SECURITY, something the Democrats are absolutely NOT interested in.

More made up stuff. You guys are really hitting the fantasy angle hard on this thread.

Why would Cohen lie

bass: To save his skin

And more fantasy. Cohen has already been sentenced.

bass: being prosecuted in a State that despises the President to its core

A state doesn't despise a person.

Nah, actually it's true.

By the way, I bet Cohen hates this photo.

Are you serious? The guy is under 4 separate investigations - and has already been named as an unindicted co-conspirator. When Mueller, the NY SD Attorney, and Congress finish their investigations, ask that same question...but have your Kleenex ready....

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

When Mueller, the NY SD Attorney, and Congress finish their investigations, ask that same question...but have your Kleenex ready....

Yeah... weren't we supposed to have our Kleenex ready like a year ago?

Cohen literally said "I lied but I'm not a liar."

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And what will you be saying if Cohen has corroborating evidence for all of his allegations?

Nothing, because he doesn’t have anything at least nothing that would be devastating to the President, this is why the pathetic Democrats want to know which Dairy Queen he ate at in the 3rd grade.

That's the entire point of hiring a lawyer.

Well, why not get the lawyer of the woman his former boss beat in a general election out of 6000 lawyers in NY......lol....yeah, uh-huh...

There aren’t enough trees in the US that they can make into tissue that will be enough for all the Democrats to soak up the tears. This is why they’re going to plan B. At this rate with the racists in their party, the mad shift to the left by the Marxist will almost guarantee them zero entry into the WH.

Chip Star - And what will you be saying if Cohen has corroborating evidence for all of his allegations?

You are admitting that Cohen does not have corroborating evidence for all of his allegations.

Wierd. I made zero reference to you whatsoever. In fact I made no reference to me speaking of anyone on this board. And for some reason you felt the need to defend yourself against my comment. I wonder why.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

wipeout - That may well be the case; however, he did make some very damning evidence available during his recent public testimony. He also, when questioned, told committee members where to look for evidence to corroborate other things he said, or who to talk to (Weisselberg's name came up a lot). Hence the flurry of requests and subpoenas - what was it, 80 individuals and organizations?

Cohen, a convicted liar, coached for 10 hours by Schiff's staff, made various claims/lies before Congress. Team Schiff knew exactly who would be named, and, I suspect, that the so-called "flurry" of requests and subpoenas were ready to go before Cohen even began lying to Congress for the 2nd time.

Cohen, a convicted liar, coached for 10 hours by Schiff's staff, made various claims/lies before Congress.

The only part of that screed that we have evidence to back up is that Cohen is a convicted liar. Again, his credibility isn't determined in a vacuum. Corroborating evidence will be a factor.

I guess the only evidence that proves Cohen is a convicted liar would be Cohen's conviction for lying. Cohen's credibility wasn't determined in a vacuum, it was determined in a courtroom.

Trump? Why are you bringing him up.

Meanwhile you still didn’t answer the question about why you guys were so desperate to push that narrative.

Why are you guys so desperate to push this agenda about him:
