Tragic.

Blocs of oil corporations got their states to attack Libya, and now they're joined by other blocs of oil corporations that have paid a variety of factions to continue the attacks on Libyan people. As the globe's weapons maker's profits increase.
Until the world can burn lower amounts of all fossil fuels, until we can consume less - of everything - and until we rely more on alternative forms of energy we can expect more innocent lives to be smashed.
And also expect pollution levels to increase.

The Americans orchestrated the overthrow of Gaddafi - with no plan for what would come afterward.
We are now witnessing what comes after a poorly thought through strategy.
During Gaddafi's era there was high unemployment but literacy in Libya was among the highest in Africa. What seeds has NATO sown?

Correction: Obama and Clinton orchestrated the overthrow of Gaddafi - with no plan for what would come afterward.

commanteer: "Correction: Obama and Clinton orchestrated the overthrow of Gaddafi - with no plan for what would come afterward."
Obama and Clinton were elected by the American people and the American people stood by and did nothing, so "The Americans orchestrated the overthrow of Gaddafi - with no plan for what would come afterward." is correct.
The same is happening throughout the middle east as a result of US foreign policy and, again, the American people are doing nothing to hold their government to account.

News nowadays is just depressing !! From vulnerable people starving themselves to death in " civilized " countries detention centres to refugees being pulverised in detention centres of war torn countries. The jungle and animals seem to be a better place.

It would be. Except the American people also elected Trump, and yet every thing done while Trump has been in office is called Trump's doing in these pages - even if it has little to do with him. Not least by CrazyJoe.
I was against Obama's action in Libya. Yet, the media and just about everybody who voted for Obama went along with it, often in glowing terms. Nothing could tarnish his brilliance it seemed.
I am fine with blaming "the Americans" as long as one is consistent. Let's stop "Trump this and Trump that." Place the blame squarely where it belongs - on the apathetic ill-informed American public.

And yes, the US is directly responsible for the situation in Libya.

@Commanteer: 110% agree

"Blocks of oil corporations"? Is it so hard to spell Hillary Clinton, who agited for months for the illegal desctruction of Libya, and then pranced around and cackled "We can we saw he died" after the murder of Gaddafi?
The oil corporations have always been there and will always be there. The destruction of Libya was Clintons pet project.

Thank you, an honest appraisal.
The current situation is not a Trump situation as Trump is a symptom, a mirror of, what appears to be, American citizens. It appears that US citizens think the world will be a better place under US stewardship, and clearly this has not or is the case. The US thinks that all can be resolved by military force and this is why it has been at war for over 70 years. Not every nation want the US brand of "democracy", not every nation want US domination.

Of course Clinton played a major role in the attacks on Libya. But to say it was her 'pet' project is denying Sarkozy's probably even larger part. The NATO nations involved in attacking Libya used their militaries to help their oil corporations.

But I know Trump backers, US and 'foreign', need to continue to demonize Clinton (for many good reasons in my opinion) to make Trump look not as bad.
Of course. The global oil powers are paying different militias (call them what you want) to ensure their continuance. Which militias are Russian oil companies financing?

Trump ran on a platform of ending the stupid military interventions and has so far stuck to it. It is the neocon/neolib swamp who is pushing him to more wars. Count your blessings that war criminal Clinton is not in charge right now.
Of course, the Trump derangement syndrome promoted by CNN et al tends to fog up the picture.

I think that's a fair analysis. I thought the people who foamed at the mouth over Obama were as ridiculous as the people who do the same for Trump now. Both were elected. It's not the man - it's the message they represent.
America is in a sorry state. The soldiers are "heroes" fighting for "our freedom." Sorry to say that the soldiers are often well-intentioned and brave young people being used by bad or fanatical people. And those freedoms are an illusion. The US is one of the least free developed countries in the world.
And the result is what we see in this article.

Did I miss it? Who is being blamed for the actual bombing? Which country flew the planes and dropped the bombs?

US and France support Haftar.
I'm not surprised about the attack and denial.
