“even with a climate change denier in the White House."

Trump's not denying climate change, he's just not letting America be put at an economic disadvantage anymore.

By taking aim at fossil fuel subsidies, Bloomberg is challenging both a powerful American industry and Trump, who has championed the extraction of oil, gas and coal.

Trump and the elite establishment are getting working and middle class taxpayers to pay more in taxes for these subsidies (welfare/socialism for the richest) which primarily benefit the elite establishment and which keep environmental-positive measures like conservation and alternatives to burning so much fossil fuel from competing with them. In the US and around the globe you can't get any more establishment than the resource extraction corporations and the elite that own and run them, and the bankers and financiers backing them, and the defense corporations profiting from wars to protect the extractors and bankers' investments.

Why are the global elite establishment so opposed to competition? I thought competition was cornerstone to democracies and capitalism. Or do the establishment just want 'leaders' like Trump to establish a system of corporatist authoritarianism to eliminate competition.

@serranoTrump's not denying climate change,

Trump's flip-flopped from saying it's a Chinese hoax?

Trump's not denying climate change,

Trump's flip-flopped from saying it's a Chinese hoax?

US President Donald Trump has reversed previous statements calling climate change a hoax, but shied away from agreeing with the scientific evidence that it is caused by human activity. “I don't think it's a hoax,” he said. “I think there's probably a difference. But I don't know that it's man made.”

Believe it or not, Mother Nature has an important role to play in climate change.

I agree. And humans are a part of Mother Nature.

That's rich coming from Bloomberg. The way to help isn't to give money away but to start living a life style that will fight climate change. Yeah, like these rich folks can do that.

Who is Bloomberg supposed to be representing at the latest COP? Billionaires for democracy? The Let's-Keep-Kids-Out-of-School group?

I don't care much for elitists and narcissists. But the Earth needs allies now and the deniers out there are a threat to us all.

We'll take what help we can, before it's too late.
