Some of you are very funny. Have you ever taken a walk on city streets in all those countries you now name here as having had the omicron earlier than in Southern Africa region? Those countries anywhere all ARE quasi South Africa regions. lol

it may be the beginning of the end of the pandemic.

I think you might be right. It isn't unthinkable. RNA viruses exploit all known mechanisms of genetic variation to ensure their survival. On the other we too have probably mutated ourselves some form of resistance by now.

In few weeks we will know more but me personally I want to be optimistic about omicron. Who knows maybe this is how Sars-Cov-2 will turn into a simple cold (fingers crossed).

More infectious but less lethal

If COVID mostly kills through an overreaction of the immune system and your statement is true it might mean earlier non omicron infection induced immunity and covid immunity obtained via vaccination is at least good to a degree enough to prevent death .

As I wrote-dont trust every single word from WHO.

They have lost all of their credibility last two years.

Ever notice how the people who criticize the WHO don't have an answer as to how the WHO should have fulfilled it's mandate to oversee the health of the world if they had called out Taiwan as an independent nation, thereby getting them cut off from 1/5th the human population?

All of this around omicron is just another try to start new panic on world markets-just see what happened to rate of USD and EURO against JPY last two three days...all of this panic have to be stopped.

Be rational!

More infectious but less lethal. If such is demonstrated with regard to the latest variant, it may be the beginning of the end of the pandemic.

At least in Europe, all Omicron cases are asymptomatic or mild symptoms, so far.

Something is going on. Something is also not going right. We are being played again.

Time to isolate completely in the countryside to feel good for the rest of the life.

These guys at WHO simply can't make their up. What a bunch of clowns! No wonder why they have no credibility anymore.

People with limited intelligence are quick to complain. Notice how no one of intelligence ever calls out the WHO?

"We call on all member states to take rational, proportional risk-reduction measures," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a briefing to countries. "The global response must be calm, coordinated and coherent."

Let me guess: The CCP is worried about attendance at their Olympics.

We should take the advice of the same corrupt crew who gave in to Chinese pressure to discourage travel bans when the disease was first discovered and had a chance of being contained in China? Instead they were allowed to spread it around the world.

WHO is a deeply politicised and corrupted organisation that has shifted far from its science based original ideals.

On the upside, Omicron could now be a convenient way for many nations to gracefully “bow out” of participating “in the interest of the world’s public safety”, avoiding China’s political and economic backlash for a full “boycott” of the Games ?

”who” is going to listen to these foot dragging corrupt cretins again after they royal dropped the ball in the first place!

Any suggestions how that should look like?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Maybe we can't stop it's spread, but i am pretty sure the travel ban is at least gonna help delay, decrease and contain cases instead of allowing it to rise to a very high number. Did they really expect us to open up the gates and welcome it in with open arms? At least give us a chance to delay it progress while the government set up the booster shots. WHO is crazy if they think that traveling now is a good thing.

" "All the scientists I've talked to ... are like 'this is not going to be good,'" Moderna boss Stephane Bancel "

Geez that's a surprise...meanwhile rubbing his hands together about how much money he can make...

Let's hype up that fear...

The world is no longer rational!
