On Tuesday, a Southern California shoe store owner mistakenly shot a 9-year-old girl while firing at two shoplifters at the Mall of Victor Valley, police said.

A great example of the dangers of having untrained angry people shooting firearms in "self defense". I hope the poor little girl recovers and her family sues the shooter for every penny he has. I know he was being robbed but robbery is not a capital offense to justify maybe killing the perpetrators and hurting that girl is at the very least criminal negligence. This whole guns for self defense thing has to be buried.

How many is it this week? All those ‘good guys with a gun’ must be busy.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Once again we have another mentally compromised individual that thinks it’s ok to settle any dispute with a firearm. Hope they get caught and get locked up.

I remember when my parents dropped me and my brothers off at the mall on a Saturday afternoon to see a movie or to just hang out with friends. I guess those were the good old days...

Are those police or Army? It's tough to tell in the US sometimes.

Thanks for describing the entire far-right movement that wants to let anyone; prior felon, domestic terrorist, mentally compromised, walk around with a concealed weapon without any background check or training...

Hope they get caught and get locked up.

Me too...all of them...

“We don’t believe this was random,” Holbrook said. “We believe they knew each other and something led to the gunfire.”

Another incident involving two gangs of middle aged white women? Or was it the usual suspects....

Another incident involving two gangs of middle aged white women?

no, it was South Carolina deer hunters. no wait, a young lady who keeps a Beretta PX4 in her nightstand.

No, wait. It was idiots with guns, in America. Keep it simple.

The more I read about US gun violence, the more I love my safe, clean, civilized and free of guns Japan..

Once again we have another mentally compromised individual that thinks it’s ok to settle any dispute with a firearm. Hope they get caught and get locked up

The problem is the country is full of guns and happytrigger sick-angry people..

Add to that the selfish indolence of the conservatives, the greedy bloody business of the NRA, the pathetic second amendment and the John Waynish pop culture..

Thanks for describing the entire far-right movement

Far-right? Harry Reid wasn’t far right and neither is Kinzinger.

that wants to let anyone; prior felon, domestic terrorist, mentally compromised, walk around with a concealed weapon without any background check or training...

So when the Dems controlled both chambers last time they could have passed laws, blocking, curbing so-called gun violence and didn’t, that’s on them since they’re the ones crowing about this, but they didn’t because they know even in blue rural country many of their constituents are gun supporters, they leave that crucial part out..

Me too...all of them...

Regardless if you are a liberal or conservative.

No, wait. It was idiots with guns, in America. Keep it simple.

Right. idiots with guns, not responsible gun owners who use their firearms for lawful purposes as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. regulate the idiots, not the guns.

Hardly, been an NRA member since the late 90’s nothing greedy about the organization and I can tell you you will find members from all walks of life and even some of the hardest liberals that are members. What the left doesn’t understand is, they will never ever extinguish the 2nd amendment, once they understand that crucial and very critical part we can move on and they can put the emotional anger aside. What needs to be done is to find out what were the motives of these people and why? Getting angry at the guns and the left screaming about banning guns is just a non-starter to the conversation, ain’t gonna happen.

Why have a gun if you aren’t willing to shoot somebody with it? How do you know these guns were not legally purchased? Who shot first? The person returning fire was using his firearm for lawful purposes?

These are all questions we don’t have to answer in almost every country in the world because in almost every other country in the world ladies don’t keep a Beretta PX4 in their nightstand and mass shootings don’t happen every other day.

no details yet but valid questions. If it turns out these weren't hunters or people keeping firearms for home defence I'll amend my statement.

Yeah, so when they are ready, they can storm the Capitol again.

Thanks for describing the entire far-right movement

Far-right? Harry Reid wasn’t far right and neither is Kinzinger.

Reid and Kitzinger, along with a majority of NRA members (69%) support common sense gun control - to include background checks that keep guns out of the hands of the "mentally compromised"....

Blame the Repubs for not joining - they were afraid of Wayne LaPierre....who is such an honest guy....

Me too...all of them...

Regardless if you are a liberal or conservative.

Typical two dimensional thinking again - it's about gun safety and crime, not politics...

You can tell a gun nut from a responsible firearms owner easily. Responsible firearms owners use their weapons for recreation, sport, or as a hobby. They support common-sense gun control because they understand their weapons are dangerous and not everyone is mature enough to own one. Gun nuts only have weapons because of their insecurity and sense of powerlessness. Responsible firearms owners always keep their weapons and ammo locked in secure, approved firearms cabinets, Gun nuts keep theirs under their pillows so they can shoot the neighbor who wants to steal their toilet paper stash or the black helicopter Gov't agents who are coming for their guns...

Simple question that gun owners in America don’t like answering simply.

Why does this happen with such alarming regularity only in The US?

Too many guns? Too many mentally ill people? Both?

Is there a solution to gun violence in The US?

No. It’s too broken. Yes. Don’t live there.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Yep Too many guns? Too many mentally ill people? Both?

Criminal gangs and certain racial groups being the pepetrartors at 10x their percentages of society membership.

until the racial aspect is identified as a root cause and action taken, it won’t stop.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Why have a gun if you aren’t willing to shoot somebody with it?

A gun is not just for shooting people ask a farmer about taking away his guns and you might not like what he might say to you.

How do you know these guns were not legally purchased? Who shot first? The person returning fire was using his firearm for lawful purposes?

Well, law enforcement will in time establish that.

These are all questions we don’t have to answer in almost every country in the world because in almost every other country in the world ladies don’t keep a Beretta PX4 in their nightstand and mass shootings don’t happen every other day.

Ok, but the average American gun owner could care less what other countries think on the issue. They don’t want to be us and we don’t want to be them.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

So it isn’t too many guns or mentally ill, it’s to many black people.

Where do they get guns?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Everybody knows guns 'n' opioids are addictions as American as Mom's apple pie, yet don't the do-nuthin' politicians keep letting the slaughter of the people they represent repeat itself and expect a different result (like an end to the blood-letting)? This is the hallmark of a suicidal idiocracy.

Now I know why Sophia is passionate about her guns.

And no it’s not individual legal gun owners in “red states” selling their guns to criminals either.

where they get the guns?

Simple question that gun owners in America don’t like answering simply.

Why does this happen with such alarming regularity only in The US?

We don’t know, could be many reasons, I’ll leave that one to the psychologists and law enforcement to figure that one out.

Too many guns? Too many mentally ill people? Both?

Well, where I live in Texas almost everyone has a gun out of a population of 42,000, i would say on the conservative side that 85% of people are gun owners and the last time someone died by a firearm was in 1971

Is there a solution to gun violence in The US?

Yes, enforce the gun laws on the books, get rid of no cash bail, stop letting go repeat offenders, dish out harder and lengthier prison sentences to all lawbreakers, stop defunding the police, allow them to use every tool in their arsenal that they need to stop and prevent crime, increase police presence, allow for raids. There is a lot we can do, the question is, do you want to stop crime and prevent or or do you want to allow for the lawlessness to continue? Which one is it?

No. It’s too broken. Yes. Don’t live there.

That’s the option of some and the option of others move there.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Well it’s not farmers and hunters and people who have guns in the home for self defense doing these shootings. That is quite clear.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Is there a solution to gun violence in The US?

be just as angry and concerned as a Black society when a Black person shoots someone else as when a Black person is shot by the police.

each one of these shootings needs that level of investigation, analysis and community involvement. Right now it’s just “oh 2 more”, “oh well another one”.

Republicans bring their guns to overthrow the democratically elected government

Nope.

https://tennesseestar.com/2021/03/06/fbi-confirms-no-firearms-were-found-during-january-6-capitol-protests/

but posters like you ignore unimportant things like that.

Hmmm…speaking of facts…

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Now I know why Sophia is passionate about her guns.

Why? because growing up in a rural area, guns were an almost everyday tool for putting food on the table, keeping pests away from crops and livestock, and euthanizing the occasional lame horse? or living in and walking through a poor neighborhood alone at night, a young woman might (and did - no shots fired fortunately) need some form of protection?

Mass shooting, ethnic hate, black vs others.., it is all in the culture now.

Such toxic mentality has been deeply ingrained in the mind of many inadvertently.

May people be blessed..

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The USA is an international community of multiple ethnicities , religions and belief systems with a noble idea of equality and freedom.

This young country the USA strives to achieve a near impossible task .

And with difficulty .

Owning a gun in the USA is a right not a responsibility.

Each country has its attributes and uncomfortable realities.
