I've never heard Musk decry the unelected rulers of China as fascists or totalitarians. I've never heard him criticise the CCPs total blackout censorship of just about all "free speech" - including posts about Tiananmen, Uighyurs - and even the banning of Twitter and Facebook.

Ok They show bombing of Gaza and we all know that with each bombing there is human carnage. You don,t need close up to realise this. So why take down the a stabbing where the victim survived. Ban the bombing on other sites and maybe than bighead will follow suit. One a death story the other is a survival story. I know what I pull down first.

Musk is correct to fight this. Australia claims to allow free speech but then attempts to ban anything that confronts the government's ideology. This is the tool and behaviour of the fascist - and an increasingly common one around the world. China, on the other hand, makes no pretence at allowing free speech. It is the dangerous hypocrisy of Australia that is the issue.

Australia supports free speech, what it opposes is lies and fake narratives based on provable lies. Freedom of speech is sometimes confused with a right to speak BS and make believe it is truth by extremists with agendas.

Wow, a long time ago I called it. Musk is an intelligent fool... Musk only supports Trump because Musk wants the rich and wealthy to keep hoarding all the money, not have to pay income taxes, and keep the "money must always flow upwards to those who already have too much" method. Remember, Musk had a 1,500 layoff but was rewarded $56 million bonus money afterwards.

The rich will run up inflation, live in excess, and complain about the inflation (they caused) and how those darned taxes (37-38%) makes them feel bad while the majority of Americans from upper middle class to the below poverty level will never see the same amount of financial security for GENERATIONS. People live from paycheck to paycheck, and folks like Musk have a huge money shield between them and actual everyday hardships. Musk needs to learn to be happy with what he HAS. Cos karma needs to kick in and check him back hard.

People with money aren't "hoarding it", they are investing it, which provides loans and capital for companies to buy equipment and pay salaries so more and more people have jobs. Without people providing investment money (directly or through stock markets), companies don't have the money they need to expand.

For 'regulate' read 'censor'.

The kid ban is designed to force everyone to ID themselves or lose their accounts. Part of the scheme to turn the internet into a universal surveillance network. So no more of those awkward anonymous #MeToo moments catching out Aussie parliamentarians or clergy.

If Musk doesn't like all this, he should have developed a distributed social network moving data from user to user. It wouldn't necessarily be anonymous, but it could exclude state censorship, users themselves choosing what they didn't wish to see. Plus it would have cost him less than Twitter did.

Not a lot of Americans have enough money to invest at such levels, if at all. Remember, most Americans are riddled with debt. I was affected by the crash of 2005-2008. Other folks I worked with also lost EVERYTHING. Jobs, 401k, investments in the negatives. Then Plus, companies can (and should) only expand if there is higher demand for their goods or services, not just because they need money for "expansion". Plus should another crash occur, all that investment money is meaningless. Companies will shut down any expansions as required, and consolidate as much as possible. Much of the money will keep going to the top executives, because I've yet to hear about any of them taking pay cuts, or being denied golden parachutes... For wealthy investors, they still have a huge financial shield. Pretty sure they're not investing all their billions or millions... just a decent fraction of it to keep making gargantuan loads of money. While those below those levels will LOSE much more and be left without much of a financial safety net. So yes, the money is hoarded at the top. It helps to have millions on hand to defend against economic woes.

Funny. Everyone I know invests in the stock market, at least as part of their 401k retirement funds.

But this story is about people investing and those investments creating jobs.

Just because some people are terrible with money, that doesn't mean everyone is.
