Another well thought-out statement from the religion of peace.

Wow, can you believe this? Comedy Central would not air a program made in the US because of threats from foreign terrorists. Islamic terrorism, repressing your freedom from miles away.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He said he “can’t answer that legally” when asked if his group favored jihad.

Oh, I think he just did.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good grief... I saw that episode and I was afraid something like this would happen. Sigh.

Asked if Parker and Stone should feel threatened by it, he said “they should feel threatened by what they did.”

Why should they? Why do they think they have the right to murder someone for something stupid like a cartoon?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And for those of you in Japan, you can actually go over to the South Park website and watch the episode for yourself.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

samwatters, nicely put. This kind of behavior is only to be expected from the Muslims.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

and so, another not so veiled threat is made, but where is the outcry from the non-radical side of islam for this kind of activity to cease? There is none. We now have the islamic extremists doing jihad, and the rest of islam is standing by giving their tacit approval.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Thank you Bicultural. And nice point Djuice; where are the "reasonable" Muslims at this point?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If people would respect the sensitivities of others then this won't happen at all. Borrowing from the overused line, freedom is a great power, and with it great responsibility.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I watched this episode. It was very very funny indeed. Mohammed was in a mascot suit because he's not allowed to be depicted, then he got kidnapped by ginger people who wanted his protection against jokes.

As Lt. Col Slade says - God doth have a sense of humour.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

n3312-- You are right. I watch South Park, and some of the barbs they make do seem unneccessarily insensitive at times, but I also realize that is the point of the show. To change it would be undermining what it is, which is a stupid cartoon made for entertainment. And no statement made by them makes it okay for these radical murderers to take it upon themselves to end someone elses life just because of something they said. That will never, ever be okay, and people aren't going to warm up to the other side any faster. If their beliefs entail permanently silencing anyone who speaks out against them, they don't deserve respect at all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

yeah, "If people would respect the sensitivities of others " we would never seen so much trash(and urge for advance taking) over the none-believer in many religion's holly books.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If people would respect the sensitivities of others then this won't happen at all.

Ah yes political correctness, the problem is that you can't respect the sensitivities of others without offending others of the others. The truth of the matter is that you are always going to offend somebody, like for example donating blood, guess who you would offend.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Comedy Central would not air a program made in the US because of threats from foreign terrorists.

Well it is a good thing they showed it!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why are Muslims watching television in the first place? I thought the Quran forbid depiction of the human form and the faithful from viewing such images.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The show's creators flatly tell people at the beginning of every episode NOT to watch the show. What stronger disclaimer is there? Respecting the sensitivities of others is most certainly NOT what art is for. And yes. South Park is art.

Matt and Trey are geniuses. They love their work and it shows. They also give their show away, as Timorborder has noted, so they are not all about the money. One other thing, Matt and Trey have gone on record as saying that Comedy Central were a "bunch of p*****s" for not showing the episode they made depicting Muhammad several years ago. Even in the show (TV Wars?), they rank on TV execs for being wimps.

I am pretty sure I have seen every episode ever made, and I appreciate each for what it is. Their characters are revealing. Jesus is cool. Mickey Mouse is a fascist. Satan is powerful but very confused. They have shown the pantheon of Jesus, Moses, Buddha and others as SuperFriends. The most powerful being in the universe is a little boy named Butters. I am guessing that the Muhammad character is pretty benignly portrayed. I think that the satire and parody jibe with Dante, Pope, Swift, and all the greats of their time.

Too bad somebody got offended, but it seems as though Matt and Trey should be at the back of the line for retribution for doing what they do, what with Rushdie still running around alive and kicking after all these years. Still, Google Alan Berg and see what extremists can do with machine guns in Colorado.

By the way, Trey is married to a Japanese woman. Maybe everyone knew that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"where are the "reasonable" Muslims at this point"

They are going about their lives as though it never happened. No reasonable muslim is going to defend or condemn South Park. Why would they? Christians don't do it either. Did anyone bat an eye when Jesus made dooty on the American flag? No. People just rolled their eyes and shook their heads and cursed the first amendment. The parody and satire give everyone exactly what they want and point out the absurdity that we all deal with.

They are not ridiculing Muhammad. They are ridiculing the people who feel ridiculed by that. Mission accomplished.

Give credit where it is due, all you muslim haters. With all the believers in Islam throughout the world, Matt and Trey only get one death threat for all their trouble? Maybe that IS a religion of peace after all. I guess they need to stick it to Scientology again to get some excitement.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If people would respect the sensitivities of others then this won't happen at all. Borrowing from the overused line, freedom is a great power, and with it great responsibility.

Nobody has a right to not be offended. Muslims included.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why don't the muslim fanatics make their own cartoons? Much better way of taking out their fanatical stress rather than killing people.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If he was wearing a bear suit, how do we know who was really inside?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And while the radical muslims sharpen their knifes, what is the vast majority of peaceful muslims doing (the ones we are always reminded of)?

They are telling us to look the other way and not connect the islamic death threats to islam.

Quite a brilliant system.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is this "Muslim group" truly a Muslim group, or is it another group that was set up just to give Muslims a bad reputation, probably started by recent "converts" to Islam?

I wonder why this is such big news.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Wabisabi "I wonder why this is such big news."

I'll try to answer that for you in a sincere manner. This is another example of a group that has repeatedly used violence against people who do not live according to their (Muslim) beliefs; please note the inclusion of the Theo Van Gogh photo to the creators of South Park. When people who refuse to bow down to ANY religion---such as myself---attempt debate or defense, we are quickly sushed and reprimanded for being "insensitive." But we are reaching a saturation point.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is another example of a group that has repeatedly...

Muslims are indeed repeatedly accused of things. There has been a long anti-Islam campaign in the MSM. Many evil/criminal acts have been carried out by people pretending to be Muslims. Is this group one of them? Are they real Muslims defending their religion or is it a group with an agenda trying to give Muslims a bad image.

Such actions by Muslim groups is big news, while similar actions by other groups is not.

By the way, I'm not so sure about the motive to Theo Van Gogh's death.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"The posting showed a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was shot and stabbed to death in an Amsterdam street in 2004 by a fanatic angered by his film about Muslim women."

Amsterdam. Wow. If it can happen in Holland - probably the most "tolerant" nation in Europe - anybody arguing that militant Islam is not a threat is a complete tool, and one that is just waiting to be used.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@sabiwabi, with all due respect, please name the last group not affiliated with a religion to murder someone because that person held views contrary to theirs. One additional point, Muslims (nor any religious group for that matter) do not have the right to "defend their religion" through the use of evil/ciminal as you suggested in your post.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

samwatters - If you've read enough of sabiwabi's posts, you'd learn he's a holocaust denier.

Here he appears to be suggesting that Jews are behind the South Park threats; the leader, I've read, is a Jewish convert to Islam (notice the scare-quotes around "convert" in his previous post in this thread).

Similarly, he is alluding to a Jewish consipiracy behind van Gogh's murder.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Said the men “outright insulted” the religious leader."

You know, I personally think that those Muslims who take Mohammed (PBUH) so cotton'-pickin' seriously forget one important thing: he was a man, just like all other men. He had his up days, and a lot of down days, just like everyone else. He also had a sense of humour. Why can't his followers have one too?

If All'ah (BBHHN) invented laughter and humour, why don't his followers participate in a reasonable manner too?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

the leader, I've read, is a Jewish convert to Islam (notice the scare-quotes around "convert" in his previous post in this thread).

I had never heard of this group before. Thank you SiouxChef for confirming my suspicion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So it's like: "We are not threatening you, no, not at all,

...but we have given your address and contact details to the hosts of self-immolating zombies and mindless killer robots."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

samwatters said: where are the "reasonable" Muslims at this point?

Not issuing death threats. Do you know how many "one" is? One group is making threats. All the other Muslim groups, even the radical ones, are silent. And the silence is trying to tell you something if you just listen to it rather than the media trying to brain-wash you.

Heck, I even prefer Sabi's conspiracy "don't trust anybody" mind-set over the "my media wouldn't hype this" mindset. Far smarter not to trust anybody at all.

Besides, it seems this lone group going against the Muslim grain is run by a guy named either Josh or Zach Chesser who somehow acquired the name Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee. I wonder, when are you all going to learn? The media plays so many of you so often and there never seems to be a shortage of zombies to lap this crap up!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Mistwizard:

" Besides, it seems this lone group going against the Muslim grain is run by a guy named either Josh or Zach Chesser who somehow acquired the name Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee. I wonder, when are you all going to learn? "

Learn what? That some of the most radical muslim fundamentalists are converts? That has been known for a long time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

sabiwabi:

" Muslims are indeed repeatedly accused of things. There has been a long anti-Islam campaign in the MSM. "

The opposite is the case. The MSM are doing their darnedest to keep any mention of islam out of islamic attacks and death threats. What you call a "campaign" is simply reporting of facts... and that with pretty pink-tinted glasses.

Want this "campaign" to end? Then end islamic terrorism.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

samwatters asked: please name the last group not affiliated with a religion to murder someone because that person held views contrary to theirs.

I guess you never heard of political violence? How about the U.S. government? A whole lot of people died for supporting Saddam not too long ago.

And if you think there could not possibly be politics related to this, think again. I think this Abu Zack Talhah Al-Chesser fellow is desperate to get his name published so he can brag to his wannabe Muslim convert blogger brothers. The vehicle he uses, whether its the prohibition of physical representations of Allah or haram pork at the supermarket hardly matters. Those clowns are so alone they either don't actually believe the Koran or they don't understand it. But try telling that to WilliB. He seems to forget these things with each new day.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Libertas:

" If All'ah (BBHHN) invented laughter and humour, why don't his followers participate in a reasonable manner too? "

Here is a clue for you:

"There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious." (AYATOLLHA KHOMEINI)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WilliB asked: Learn what?

Learn that a few crazy wannabe Muslims do not represent Islam. Of course that runs counter to your agenda.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Heh, we in the west need more stinging satire against Islam to show we're not going to put up with their stone-age fanatical religion.

More, more.....more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

willi, I think more satire is a better method at engaging fundie ignoramus's than your own personal crusade which IMO only further exasperates the situation.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

samwatters - If you've read enough of sabiwabi's posts, you'd learn he's a holocaust denier.

Oh my! To some its perfectly OK to make fun of a religion but to not believe 100% of a particular historical event is wrong. Funny also how a certain other religion cannot be made fun of, or even criticized in rational manner.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@sabiwabi, with all due respect, please name the last group not affiliated with a religion to murder someone because that person held views contrary to theirs.

Israelis.

One additional point, Muslims (nor any religious group for that matter) do not have the right to "defend their religion" through the use of evil/ciminal as you suggested in your post.

That is certainly not what I suggested. Try reading it again.

“Is this "Muslim group" truly a Muslim group, or is it another group that was set up just to give Muslims a bad reputation, probably started by recent "converts" to Islam?”

Islam needs no help from anybody acquiring a bad reputation.

SouthPark isn’t my programme of choice but whenever I have seen it I have always been entertained by it, it is no so harmless fun, but then that in itself is what makes it special. Almost everything TV shows now is neutered so as not to offend anybody. Milk for the masses, but who wants to live on milk when a nice stiff drink can be so much more enjoyable? What is so stunningly hypocritical about Islam here is that Muslims view themselves as being so incredibly precious that they can meet what they see as an insult with death threats. Is life of so little importance to Muslims that it can be taken to balance an insult? Sabi is quick to defend Islam and defame others with the free speech he is given here, but even with his free speech fails in anything he writes to condemn even the threat of murder. He would rather make the suggestion that this Muslim group isn’t in fact a real Muslim group but a front set up to give Muslims a bad name. If nothing else SouthPark does a wonderful job of bringing out such people from wherever it is they lurk.

Easy ,America should have a law to arrest immediately whoever threatens other person's life.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"I guess you never heard of political violence? How about the U.S. government? A whole lot of people died for supporting Saddam not too long ago."

Rather a large reach there MistWizard. And let's not kid ourselves; if a Born-again Christian (i.e affliated with RELIGION) had not been in the White House, it's likely there would have been no Irag war.

"Many evil/criminal acts have been carried out by people pretending to be Muslims. Are they real Muslims defending their religion or is it a group with an agenda trying to give Muslims a bad image?" Your words Wabisabi. It seems like you are excusing violence if it protects/defends religion activity. That may not be what you wrote but it is what I read. If I misunderstood you, I apologize.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Mistwizard:

" Learn that a few crazy wannabe Muslims do not represent Islam. "

The problem ist, those "few crazy wannabe muslims" include the highest religous authorities in both Sunni and Shia islam -- all of whom have and continue to issue death fatwahs in the name of islam.

So, who gets to decide who is crazy and wannabe -- or who simply takes the teaching seriously?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Whats silly enough about this whole well you cant say islam has inherent flaws in its society because of a few people. The main people talking about the flaws in islamic society are muslims themselves who want to see their society leave the stone age. The fact is that the ones that make death threats have the silent approval of the vast majority of muslims. Every nation that has a large muslim immigrant population has sky rocketing crime, violence and increased attacks relating to islamic religious beliefs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Its called a fatwa WilliB, and just because you misuse it and the press misuses it does not make it different. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatw%C4%81

Name me a death fawta that troubles you so much, and I will name you a radical behind it. Either that or you will name me a death fawta that actually does not trouble you, one that you actually approve of. Go for it. But keep in mind that there is no fatwa against Matt and Trey. These particular nuts are not that high up the food chain.

And dude, just because Christians don't have a name for it does not mean they don't have fatwas.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That episode was fantastic.

Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, said the men “outright insulted” the religious leader.

They do it to everybody else in the world and nobody seems to have a problem with it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It would have been hilarious if they would have demanded Trey and Matt respect their authority.

Taka

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"And dude, just because Christians don't have a name for it does not mean they don't have fatwas."

I think they have a name for it, fatwa in American Christendom is "murder the abortion clinic doctors" and they are issued by Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.

"They do it to everybody else in the world and nobody seems to have a problem with it."

No. Not everybody. Matt and Trey have let plenty of people off pretty lightly. When someone complains though, they get a second dose.

Mormons in particular got a huge pass, IMHO. They were portrayed as misguided and gullible, but really good folks.

Christians and Christmas are roundly mocked in every way possible, and the sheer number of possibilities is awesome. Easter, Christmas Carols, Santa, the Mel Gibson movie, virgin birth, etc. Jesus actually lives in South Park. He is a peaceful hippy type. Satan is more powerful in every way, it seems, and he is gay!

Spiritualism, Hinduism, UFO cults, "magic", etc. Judaism and American Jewish culture too. They have all been mocked and derided.

Scientology has been smacked several times because Chef's voice, Isaac Hayes, quit the show in protest. Matt and Trey believe he was forced by Scientology to quit. People who have seen the show where that character dies know that Matt and Trey burned their bridges with him even though his was one of the original characters.

That about covers it. They have depicted Siddhartha and Krishna as characters too.

The single most caustic, nasty smack at religions is a Christmas song, "Merry F...... Christmas" which is a terribly prejudiced rant with a catchy tune. It is sung by a deplorable character: a schizophrenic, transsexual, bigoted schoolteacher who is/was gay AND lesbian.

I am pretty sure they have not attacked Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Christian Scientists. They have not attacked Zoroastrianism.

Oddly enough, they have not really said anything bad about Muslims aside from attacking some muslims' lack of tolerance and mocking people who give in to threats.

It is also important to say that THEY signifies "characters in their show". The nasty petty characters in the show are well known to be nasty and petty. Do they say true things? Only if you are inclined to believe the most evil people you can imagine. But they are clever, like Dante's Satan, and they do get sympathy at odd times. The "good" characters are generally skeptical of the bad ones.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

even I am an advocate of "don't offend others for no reasons" in other posts, I found the episode quite funny.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oh my! To some its perfectly OK to make fun of a religion but to not believe 100% of a particular historical event is wrong. Funny also how a certain other religion cannot be made fun of, or even criticized in rational manner.

Your 'certain other religion' - which you've long expressed your open hostility on here - is Judaism. I find that comment amusing, and obviously you don't live in the States. A large number of comedians and entertainers in this country are Jewish (okay, that sounds stereotypical, but none-the-less true) and I've rarely ever heard a group make fun of themselves and their religion as much as they do.

The problem with the arguments by MistWizard and others regarding the tendency to falsely vilify moderate Muslims because of the actions of a 'few' radical Muslims - while of course fundamentally true - is that these arguments are made less effective by several factors. One is the level of sheer violence by those extremists. While yes, Christians can get violent, they don't tend to have the AK-47's, explosives and know-how to do much other than blow up the occasional clinic somewhere. They don't usually try to kill as many 'infidels' in aircraft or blow the legs of women and children in market squares. The scope of violence, sophistication in training and planning, and willingness to die and kill others is a bit more daunting and dangerous. Another consideration is that usually these 'extremists' start out being the 'peaceful' Muslims living in our communities that no one ever expected anything so horrible from. Add to that the fact that too many 'extremists' seem to be in positions of power and/or influence in the Islamic community and suddenly the 'religion of peace' doesn't seem to live up to its self-description.

It's certainly not fair to condemn the lot for the actions of a dis-proportionate few, but even these few are far too many, and far too violent and mercurial for us to ignore a simply atypical.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It would have been hilarious if they would have demanded Trey and Matt respect their authority.

lol, good one. I can see you're a fan of the show as well.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

lol, good one. I can see you're a fan of the show as well.

Actually, I'll bet I haven't seen an episode in 5 years. But the Cartman Cops episode transcended South Park and became a part of the American lexicon.

"Respect my authoritay!!!!"

@sabiwabi, with all due respect, please name the last group not affiliated with a religion to murder someone because that person held views contrary to theirs.

Israelis.

You're kidding, right? The entire state of Israel is based on religion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I had never heard of this group before. Thank you SiouxChef for confirming my suspicion.

Sure you hadn't. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You're kidding, right? The entire state of Israel is based on religion.

No, the state hides behind a religion, but they do not follow it. Judaism is opposed to the existence of the state of Israel. They bring up scripture only when it suits their agenda.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What is so stunningly hypocritical about Islam here is that Muslims view themselves as being so incredibly precious...

Are you saying that it is the Muslims who view themselves as the chosen ones?

He [Sabiwabi] would rather make the suggestion that this Muslim group isn’t in fact a real Muslim group but a front set up to give Muslims a bad name.

Since others here have apparently confirmed my suspicion, this threat really has nothing to do with Islam. It is not a Muslim group.

If nothing else SouthPark does a wonderful job of bringing out such people from wherever it is they lurk.

I guess you agree then that this is a fake Muslim group.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@sabiwabi, according to what I have read and studied, the state of Israel began on May 14th 1948 to create a Jewish homeland. This would suggest a religious state. Whether or not people follow that religion certainly can be debated. If I am mistaken I am open to correction.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Islam means "submission". And by caving in to islamic threats and intimidation of all kinds, the West is gradually submitting.

Case in point: the South Park episode in question has now been censored, and any reference to a particular founder of a relion who must not be named, is bleeped out.

Intimidation works. As chairman Mao said: Kill on, educate thousands.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sabi please, I have come to expect better from you than this nonsense, and you can, and often do much better.

“What is so stunningly hypocritical about Islam here is that Muslims view themselves as being so incredibly precious...” “Are you saying that it is the Muslims who view themselves as the chosen ones?”

Putting the quote back in context shows how you tried to distort what I wrote. What I wrote was, “What is so stunningly hypocritical about Islam here is that Muslims view themselves as being so incredibly precious that they can meet what they see as an insult with death threats.” And in a sense that does make Muslims sound like they think of themselves as being “chosen”, or at least so special as to be beyond criticism

“He [Sabiwabi] would rather make the suggestion that this Muslim group isn’t in fact a real Muslim group but a front set up to give Muslims a bad name.”

“Since others here have apparently confirmed my suspicion, this threat really has nothing to do with Islam. It is not a Muslim group.”

This was a general statement and did not relate to any particular group though even had it done so I can’t see where you find your confirmation that this group is fake and not a real Muslim group. Granted you may not like this group for personal reasons but that does not mean they are fake. I was under the impression that conversion to Islam was seen as a good thing by most Muslims.

“If nothing else SouthPark does a wonderful job of bringing out such people from wherever it is they lurk”.

“I guess you agree then that this is a fake Muslim group”.

I am hard pressed to understand how you failed to recognise yourself as being the one of the “people” I had in mind. Granted I do think that Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee or whatever his real name might be is a serious nutjob and was brought out of the woodwork by this SouthPark episode, but even you must agree that there are Muslim nutjobs out there, born or converted isn’t the point, they do exist. I am however still waiting for you to say that you are a man of peace that does not believe in the use of violence as a way of countering insults. You have in the past expressed your feelings that violence is used against Muslims and is wrong, but have never said that you believe mush of the violence Muslims use is wrong. Defence is one thing, but you have never condemned suicide bombings in crowded markets. Claiming that all these things have been done by others pretending to be Muslims simply doesn’t work and only undermines anything of value that you might actually say.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

did they tune in for the second episode to find out that it was santa in the costume?? which means it wasn't really Muhammed... but then it couldn't have been Muhammed anyway because it's just a computer animation anyway... oh my god, it's a wonderful, beautiful thing! tre & matt really don't get enough credit. fantastic modern satire!

Religion has been used as an excuse to kill and enslave people for as long as there have been organized human communities. Islam is just keeping time with most of the other large global faiths in wanting to kill people over relgious ideas.

Bottom line, killing is wrong and any religion that tolerates it is equally messed up. I apply this quite liberally to any faith that has or will endorse murder in the name of "god" or some other diety.

Marx was right. Religion is an opiate for the people. But it does not put them to sleep as much as it deadens common sense and reason. It blinds people to the humanity of others who may not share their faith, it acts as a pain killer to conscience of people who use it to harm or threaten others and it acts as a motivation to keep people from thinking reasonably to solve problems.

This case is just one more of a million validations of the evil role organized religion plays in this world.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Marx was right. Religion is an opiate for the people." Traditional religion got in the way of the one marxists wish to impose on humanity.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am not a Marxist. But truth is truth. Religion has been used by governments to bind people to unreaonable leadership because they claim that their power comes from divine wish.

Religion set Christian against Christian for ages over disagreements on points of doctrine. I remind you of the Spanish Inquisition, wars between protestant and Catholic nations as just a few examples.

Religion set the west on the crusades which still haunts us today with the hatred between Islam and the west.

There is the spread of Islam at the point of the sword through much of the east. And the ongoing conflicts that are rooted in misguided beliefs from this faith still today.

People use religion to hide from reality, use it to distort it to their own objectives, use it enslave and keep others under control and use it to divide humanity.

Personal faith is one thing, but organized, doctine based religion has caused the world far more harm than good.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And we all know he's a cartoon figure and not a computer animation.

South park is actually computer animated these days.

Personal faith is one thing, but organized, doctine based religion has caused the world far more harm than good.

Couldn't agree more. Believe what you want by why just blindly follow everything written in an old book?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The decadent, partisan mainstream media in America has spent months demonizing ordinary Americans who gather peacefully to protest out of control spending and the nationalization of 1/6th of the world's most dynamic economy; but when an American convert to the most intolerant religion in the world threatens colleagues of theirs with death - - and we have to assume of the sort that Theo Van Gogh met with - - otherwise snarky, "transgressive," always-pushin-the-envelope infotainment stars are largely silent (Jon Stewart being the only exception I have seen).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Egalityranny. Come on, who has been demonizing people who are not happy about taxes? And what has that to do with religious threats?

If you mean the right wing hard core Christian crowd from Idaho who don't want to pay taxes, believe the end is near and that guns will somehow make the end better, then demonization is precisely what is needed.

Religious extremism is a bane to humanity and should be resisted. Equally, hard core political thinking is just as much a religion in that it fails to recognize that there are other people with other concerns to balance into decisions. Like health care where a few want to deny the many the right to have reasonable health care for a rational price. And why? Because they have this illusion that balanced healthcare = tyranny. This thinking is just as mad and twisted as the Islamist threating to kill South Park people over a joke.

People need to have a lot more empathy and a lot less divine right.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It wasn't even Mohammed in the bear suit in the end, it was Santa Claus.

Muslims are ridiculous sometimes.

Like someone else said, we need more of this stuff. The more everyone laughs at them, the better it will be.

I might set up a website where readers can post in their impressions of Mohammed. That would be ace!

All very profound, and, I might say, obvious.

But stating the obvious about thousands of years of religious strife doesn't help in dealing with the problem of the one religion which refuses to accept the modern world, or modify in any way either the wording or interpretation of the belligerent and misogynistic teachings of its paeodophile (by modern standards) warlord founder.

I'm glad these guys don't give into the treats that these so called 'muslims' issue. If one person were killed in the USA because they insulted muslims, there would be such a backlash against all muslims that would make their head spin and I wouldn't want to be a muslim in that atmosphere. So 'moderates' should get hold of their community and report anyone the suspect of radicalism so as to protect themselves from backlash as much as to protect society from idiots that get their undies in a knot over a cartoon. But their constant raving about how 'muslims' are all peaceful and refuse to acknowledge the inherent danger in their community makes me think they all deserve it for turning a blind eye to it and living in denial about it. And that goes for their liberal supporting idiots as well. If you don't like that in the USA people have the right to ridicule anyone even the president or god then you can move back to your country of origin and see how much freedom you have. Go for it South Park. You have exposed the biggest farce on the planet as far as I'm concerned. The Muslim Religion and it's BS hypocrisy.

The Muslims just need to get over themselves, and the Western media need to stop pandering to them. Jesus has featured in South Park several times, and the Christian religious nuts protested... the end result? Nothing, no-one actually cared, and there certainly wasn't censorship.

The Muslims are crying about religious and social tolerance, but for them it's a one-way street. They want us to tolerate their social and religious norms. They have to realise it's a two-way street. If they want tolerance from us then they'll have to tolerate (or just ignore!) the long and well-respected Western traditions of satire and sarcasm.

The Muslims remind me of that children's song, about children in the bed, with the smallest child always telling the others to "roll over" until they all fall out and the smallest child has the whole bed. If we "roll over" by censoring or giving in to threats then we're just accepting the Muslims' bullying, and we all know that their end goal is to have the whole bed to themselves, with no respect or consideration for anyone else.

The so called "free western World" need to learn that the Muslims don't enjoy their decadence anymore, they are fat of it and enough is enough!

It will be very wise to roll back a little bit, People don't go to the Yasukuni-Shrine to sing "US.patriotic War-Songs" about the sweet Japanese Virgin Girls!
