"... infections are rising exponentially despite efforts aimed at stopping them."

Seems worth repeating.

As far as I have been able to find using reputable sources like The Lancet, The BMJ, etc...

There are different blood clots the VIPIT is the rare type reported to be associated with AZ and J&J these have been very few and with only one possible being a man ( unconfirmed) they have all been women in some form of hormone therapy or both control.

CVST has been reported possibly with both Pfizer and AZ

The biggest "blow to global immunization" is this example of disaster capitalism, where capital accumulation is derived from mass suffering. In this case, the greed of companies such as pfizer and moderna and their shareholders stops them from sharing their technology, so that their more successful vaccines can be produced around the world.

not really a blow as you don't want to have vaccines that kill you for some other reason. This is how science works you try and keep trying. It was already disallowed in Australia others will follow.

A little more sci-ency article:

https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/04/us-cdc-fda-call-for-pause-in-use-of-jj-vaccine-due-to-rare-blood-clots/

Literally a 1 in a mllion chance. More likely to die in a plane or spacecraft crash than get a blood clot if yo get this vaccine. Had to add in spacecraft to up the death chances to get closer.

The US is pausing to get the message out for recognition of the symptons and treatment for thee rare clots. Expect that next week it will be used again.

Interesting the it didn't pause or say anything about the cases of CVST ( blood clots) reported in association with the Pfizer Vaccine.

The USA seems very keen on not saying anything wrong about Pfizer the company the refuses to let other countries produce their Vaccine but has nothing but bad to say about the far cheap Vaccines that are willing to let others produce them.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m not an anti-vaxxer but I do have a lot of questions and I don’t think the Federal government is honest or forthcoming about the complications associated with the JJ vaccine. If a person gets vaccinated, they want the highest and most accurate assurances on the safety of any type of vaccine, seems reasonable to me. When 40% of the marines decline to take the vaccine that should concern people and the growing number of people have had adverse effects from this vaccine need to be discussed and more transparency needs to be present and that seems to be lacking to a certain extent. People don’t care what Dr. Fauci, the msm or Hollywood think, their opinions are completely irrelevant when it comes to the lives and concerns of average Americans.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

J&J stocks take a hit.

When 40% of the marines decline to take the vaccine that should concern people

Why, I don't want to sound mean, but Marines of any country are not usually the best and brightest in education, so going by what they think isn't like going by what a real doctor like Fauci thinks.

It would be like taking the advice of a shoemaker over a mechanic when buying a car.

All of these issues with the vaccines are a result of Operation Warp speed. Had the federal government not been pushing the private sector to rush the development of the vaccines, there wouldn’t be so many issues.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Cutting 10 year vaccine development time to less than 9 months, what could possibly go wrong?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The vaccines are out in record time, USA is leading the world. Thank 45 for it.

There are problems with the rushed vaccines. Blame Biden, Fauci and Hollywood for it.

Seems legit.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

More Covid related hysteria. 1 in a million chance of adverse reaction (at least if you believe the reported numbers) and ongoing statements about continued restrictions and social engineering despite vaccine rollout. I fear that this is never going to be over.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

All of these issues with the vaccines are a result of Operation Warp speed.

Probably, but let’s not forget it was the Democrats that said Trump was doing nothing to take this virus seriously, he should do something and once Trump put the drug czars together to start this, the Dems howled and screamed he couldn’t get it done, can’t happen, will never happen and it did. Liberals can’t have it both ways, but at the same time, without the speed and fortitude of the former President, thousands more would have died, you take the good with the bad.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

All of these issues with the vaccines are a result of Operation Warp speed.

not sure these vaccines have proven to be any more problematic than many others that have taken years to develop. Look at the furore over the MMR. Or adverse reactions that happened at the beginning of the polio vaccination programme. We have just gotten so hysterical about everything Covid that each little thing is being blown out of all proportion to the actual data.

Jeff Zients, President Joe Biden's COVID-19 response coordinator, said that a huge surplus in the supply of two other vaccines -- Pfizer and Moderna -- meant the country could easily take up the slack.

Did you hear that Kono? There goes your 100 million Pfizer by end of May. It's what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket.

Only several problems with that statement.

Only Novavax and Moderna were part of warp speed Merck was part but not on Vaccine development.

Pfizer, AZ, J&J, were not part of it, also AZ is la UK/Swiss company and had nothing to do with any USA development.

And nothing was really rushed.

The basics of the Vaccines had been ready for years based on the 17 years of research in SARS1, all they had to do was tweek that to adapt to SARS 2 ( covid-19).

Amazing what facts reveal.

And again knowing facts is a good thing.

The USA blocks and has blocked exports since day one, only one time was any Vaccine exported and that was to Canada one time AZ ( a UK Vaccine).

Japan will get is Pfizer from non USA production facilities as has been said many times.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I am ok with that delays

and hope authorities will stop vaccination programs as long as it is not fully safe. Better to have nothing than being forced for travelling back home to take a vaccine that is not proven safe.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

No delay for Japan. We don't have any vaccination plans anyway.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

also AZ is la UK/Swiss company

Minor correction - it's a UK/Swedish company.

Out of nearly seven million Americans who have so far received the single dose vaccine, six women aged between 18 and 48 developed a rare type of clot in the brain along with low platelets, officials said.

Nearly 7 million, 6 issues - that's less than 1 in a million. How many of us would take a chance with 1 in a million?

The chance of getting hit by lightning is 1 in half-a-million btw. I'm sure many of us would still run in the rain and take that chance

But what this really comes down to is not what we know but who we know - that is, who we know personally who've already taken the vaccines and came out ok at the other end

Already I've personally known many friends and family who've taken the vaccines --even old ones in their 70s up to age 92-- and they've come out all ok (save for feeling sick after the 2nd dose - which is what's supposed to happen, as the body remembers to mount a vigorous defense the 2nd time encountering the same intruder). Nobody died; no complications; no big deal

The more we know personally who've come out ok, the more we'd personally feel we'll be ok too

and hope authorities will stop vaccination programs as long as it is not fully safe. Better to have nothing than being forced for travelling back home to take a vaccine that is not proven safe.

Do note that nothing is 100% safe - nothing in what you eat or what you do (ex: ya think your food is completely bug-free? Less than 1% bug-parts contaminants is considered safe to eat)

It's all about the threshold of the chances of problems being sufficiently low enough that's it's considered acceptably safe

(1 in a million is 0.0001% btw)

The USA seems very keen on not saying anything wrong about Pfizer the company the refuses to let other countries produce their Vaccine but has nothing but bad to say about the far cheap Vaccines that are willing to let others produce them.

Pfizer funded all the research themselves. No govt payments. They did good science, efficiently, and were very early in being able to show excellent, peer-reviewed, results. They took a huge risk.

Pfizer has manufacturing outside the USA in other countries. It requires some specialized equipment that most vaccine manufacturing plants don't have. In the US, pharmaceutical production is a business. Make no mistake. They aren't a charity. Also, in the US, the govt can't force any company to give away it's product if no laws have been broken. Pfizer hasn't broken any laws.

Presidents Biden has retained Trump's war production law to require all COVID vaccine exports gain approval by the US govt. As long as there is a shortage in the US for approved vaccines, that will remain. However, the US has shipped purchased AZ vaccines to Mexico AND Canada. Trump didn't buy just 1 vaccine. He spread the risks out over many vaccine producing companies and appears to have contracts for many more than needed for the first phase of vaccinations. The excess will end up in the COVAX program, most likely.

@P Smith: All of these issues with the vaccines are a result of Operation Warp speed. Had the federal government not been pushing the private sector to rush the development of the vaccines, there wouldn’t be so many issues.

The problem with that story is that the J&J vaccine was approved in February- by the Biden administration. Biden is completely screwing up. According to CDC estimates their has been roughly 150,000 covid deaths since Biden took office. The nation is in the grips of a fourth wave of infections. Can’t the man do anything right!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Strangerland

The remnants of Trump's time in office.

Look at the stark downward drop in deaths due to Biden's actions since taking office.

Come on, don´t be so bashful. What "actions" exactly? As far as Corona is concerned, he is simply continuing Trumps vaccine program, i.e. riding on Trumps coat tails.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Wolfpack

150,000 deaths in under three months - that’s success? The truth isn’t stupid. Biden’s failure to lead America during the pandemic (and the crisis he created at the border) is reality.

Unfortunately, this is Trump's legacy. He said that he wouldn't wear a mask, he questioned whether the danger of covid was real and his red hat wearing acolytes have bought into it. No amount of presenting a good example will counter that.

Biden is winning on the vaccine roll out. Whereas the previous administration didn't have a plan for the roll out Biden has been able to achieve 4 million vaccines a day. The problem he will run into again is vaccine hesitancy. And unfortunately that is mostly in red states. Trump could have helped of course, but instead he got the vaccine in secret.

Unfortunately, this is Trump's legacy. He said that he wouldn't wear a mask, he questioned whether the danger of covid was real and his red hat wearing acolytes have bought into it.

Biden is president now. He says to wear a mask at all times and to isolate yourself. Trumps been gone for three months. These infections and deaths have occurred under Biden’s leadership. Trump’s legacy is a vaccine and vaccination program. America is blowing it.

No amount of presenting a good example will counter that.

No amount of deflection and whataboutism will change the fact that Biden is averaging 50,000 deaths per month according to his own CDC. Trump left Biden an economy on the verge of a huge rebound. Biden is threatening to throw that all away even before his trillions in deficit spending has a chance to take effect.

Biden is winning on the vaccine roll out. Whereas the previous administration didn't have a plan for the roll out Biden has been able to achieve 4 million vaccines a day.

In reality Biden was handed a vaccine program inoculating a million per day and growing rapidly. Somehow Biden approves the J&J vaccine and its use is being pulled back - upending vaccination planning from coast to coast and hitting minority communities especially hard.

And unfortunately that is mostly in red states. Trump could have helped of course, but instead he got the vaccine in secret.

It was a secret? That’s odd- the Left was well enough aware of it to claim the elderly man was jumping to the head of the line due to his white privilege. Funny thing is Harris was telling her followers that she would not take a vaccine developed under Trump; then she and Biden turned right around and took the vaccine in November after the election. Making excuses for failure because of someone else’s perceived failures doesn’t change the facts- there is a fourth wave and Biden is leading it.

The problem with your analysis is the J&J vaccine was developed in a rushed manner under Operation Warp Speed. But please do keep blaming Biden for everything and claiming without evidence that he can’t get anything correct.

Trump’s legacy is a vaccine and vaccination program.

Just not the J&J vaccine, correct? Your hyperpartisanship is shining through nicely.

It was a secret?

Yes, which is why we didn’t find out about it until after he was out of office, about two months after he received the vaccine. Please stop posting misinformation.

Yes, but the Democrats blamed Trump for not taking the virus seriously and not doing enough as far as pushing for a vaccine. Trump put a drug task force together and Operation Warp Speed was born.

But please do keep blaming Biden for everything and claiming without evidence that he can’t get anything correct.

Well, people dying under Biden for the drug not being properly distributed or uncertainty of its affects people is no more his fault as when people were dying under Trump’s.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Okay, but this doesn’t change the fact that Trump is responsible for all the issues with the vaccines that were rushed because of Operation Warp Speed. Let’s try to keep the deflections and obfuscations for a minimum before 8:00.

Well, people dying under Biden for the drug not being properly distributed or uncertainty of its affects people is no more his fault as when people were dying under Trump’s.

People died under Trump because he refused to take the pandemic seriously for so long and downplayed its risks.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Okay, but this doesn’t change the fact that Trump is responsible for all the issues with the vaccines that were rushed because of Operation Warp Speed.

It doesn't and it doesn't change equally the issue that Dems can't say a. thing about Trump for not being the first to push and do something to help stop the spread. he did, even Fauci gave him credit as did Schumer to a degree. Now it's all on Biden, people dying on his watch or have an adverse side effect on the JJ is not his doing, but the deaths on his watch is and he needs to do something to get a grip on it just like it was for Trump to find a way, now it's Joe's turn, own it.

Let’s try to keep the deflections and obfuscations for a minimum before 8:00.

Please refer to yourself

People died under Trump because

And now people are dying STILL under THIS President, Trump is not the issue, when he was the President, fair game, he's not Biden is and he had better do something about it, he says he takes the virus seriously, we shall see.
