No need for political confusion. the LDP LOVES authoritarian regimes. They've not only invested in Burma but also the Philippines under Duterte. They love their dictators.

Why the US is not barking against the government of Myanmar, in its hypocritical "world cruzade for democracy" ???..
Well, because Myanmar does not represent any risk to take US first place as an economic power..
Oohhhhh!! I remember, China will do it soon..

It's the same dictatorship that has ruled and oppressed Myanmar since 1962, under various names. Same old crap. And net's lot forget, ASSK has went along with the Rohignya genocide and has veheminently denied it even existed, at a UN hearing at the Hague. She collaborated with these scummy thugs and collaborated with them on that. She's a murderess.
It's karma. They're now stabbing her in the back and throwing in the trash. She sold herself out hoever, to these dunderheads.
It can happen, For the UN intervention in the Korean War of 1950-1953, the UN Security Council had a vote and the USSR ambassador was absent (probably on purpose). With that, the UN voted to go to war in Korea without the Soviets.

The German PM (recently retired) stared down at thr Chump in an iconic photo of a G8 conference a few years ago. That's when he threw some Starburst fruit chews on the table like a kid.
There's been quite a number of nations that have had or do have now women heads of state, good and bad. Great Britain had that infamous Maggie Thatcher who was first elected back in 1979. SK has had one fairly recently. Now the USA has its first woman VP. Say what you will about Kamala but she's qualified and has the track record and cred.

Well, that is actually not entirely true at all on both accounts for the record.

What about those junta thugs and yoyos shooting anybody at random last year in Yangon?
These jerks are looking for any excuse, like those stupid radios. What a crock, man.
Sex or gender means nothing. The lady PM of Germany is smart and strong and she took no crap from Putin, Trump or anyone. She governed Germany in a good manner.
ReasonandWisdomNippon
How long was she in power for?? Decades.
What preparations did she make incase this happened?? 0.000
She couldn't even run away like most dictators, no heads up, no notification, they just captured her with ease. Like taking candy from a baby.
She did like many women tend to do. Not think too much about worse case scenario. Strategy games it's always Men who succeed or are the best for a Reason! Look at History.
Ann Suu Kyi just like Park in Korea are good examples of Massive failures in Asia with women in leadership positions.
This ladies would stand no chance against Putin of Russia, China's Xi Jinping or Kim in Korea. Alpha males would run in circles at your metoo movement and ideas.

She already has had a laid-back life when she was put under house-arrest by the junta for a couple decades
BackpackingNepal
At her age, she should have had retired life few years ago and have laid back life.
No one can be in the power all their life.

The deafening silence from all the leaders of the world's free and democratic countries in voicing a very strong condemnation of the disgraceful military band of terrorists currently in charge in Myanmar is appalling - how staggeringly cruel to jail a 76-year old, and yet the rest of the planet just looks away.....
We seem to elect cowards rather than well-principled strong leaders.

Sadly the left wing likes to forget about good people when it doesn't fit their party politics. I hope the right wing steps up to help her.

Ashley in many Asian countries a minimal of non conformity is enough for gang rapes mass murders. So if you are slightly of a more encompassing mind set best to avoid the area as a whole.

Yeah, true enough thanks. Sorry, the comment made it sound like it was the UN's decision when they cannot ever make that decision because China sits on the UNSC
sf2k
China sits on the UN Security council. Are you actually suggesting that China will allow a UN force nearby whose purpose is to overthrow a military dictatorship?? C'mon. Any group with China as a member is effectively neutered, as the WHO well knows too

There aren't any. With their China investments too, Japan has very clearly answered that question

Better this than a bullet in the head and being burnt with save the children workers I guess. And Japan continues to invest in Burma. Little bit confused about the political morals.
The Avenger
Finding out the "truth" of anything happening there is next to impossible. The truth is whatever the military decides it is that day and if you disagree, you are shot.

Time for an “Insurrection”
Fighto!
Boycott all trade with Myanmar and boycott all foreign companies manufacturing there. May they all fail.
