North Koreans, of course, were shocked:

"We have nightclubs?!"

Exposing the stupidity of things in North Korea is great and all, but I seriously have no sympathy for these guys who pretty much go there, begin a fight for a lost cause, and use up the time and funds of our Consulates securing their freedom.

One wonders what was given, or will be given to get this guy back.

It doesn't exactly fit with the popular image of North Korea promoted by the Western Media, does it?

I get the feeling you do not know a lot about North Korea. Those 'night clubs' are reserved exclusively for tourists from other countries and a select few North Koreans such as government approved guides who have a status that is way above the average North Korean citizen.

Absolutely no sympathy for these clowns who go to PRNK and get thrown in jail. They must be dellusional in the first place to think that they can go to a country like North Korea and peddle religion or any form of Ideology. I.bet his wife Tatyana, sounds like a rooski, will have a big bowl of boorsht waiting on the dinner table when he gets back to Ohio. The US government should have some law that when you do this type of stupid c**p that when you get back home they put you in a US prison to acclimate you back into US society.

I'll never defend NK for all it does, but if you're a tourist and your idea of a good time is to head to NK to spread your religion and drop a bible on a table every now and again in hopes of saving souls, knowing full well that sort of thing isn't tolerated, you kind of deserve what you get.

He got lucky. Here's hoping that this doesn't give any other fools idea that they can go to NK try and spread their religion and get home to tell the tale.

I'm pretty sure it's not what you and I would expect when we imagine nightclubs. Have you ever seen the Vice Guide to Travel's North Korean edition? It was probably more along the lines of what we would consider a tamer karaoke parlor...

I wonder what the Obama administration gave up for this got? Most like the rest of the Gitmo terrorists were set free.
