Some are showing missiles in a parade and are exposed on TV everyday as the demon while some are launching missiles on human targets and no image on TV.

A few BUNKER BUSTER BOMBS in the right place should calm things down. I jest of course.

Penske: "Just put Trump and Kim in a cage to a fight to the death."

That wouldn't be fair to Kim, did you not see what Trump did to Vince McMahon? lol

itsonlyrocknrollAPR. 16, 2017 - 12:52AM JST You are frightened of Kim Jong-Un, katsu78,

A good sign a person doesn't have the slightest clue what they're talking about is when they try to tell other people what they're feeling. It's yet another lie on your part, and you need to stop.

and that makes you are angry with my comments.

Perhaps you need to learn the difference between a person pointing out lies and a person being angry. They aren't the same thing.

It also explains why you are looking for any and every excuse to appease Kim Jong-Un behavior.

Another lie. I have not once called for appeasement. It is a deception on your part to equate not escalating the conflict with appeasement.

North Korean artillery hits South Korean island‎....Two SK Marines reported as casualties subsequently died of there injuries along with one civilian. That won't matter to you because as far as you are concerned North Korea is not to blame.

I haven't said a single thing about blame here - I'm strictly concerned with facts. And the fact is, you're being dishonest. You tried to claim DPRK launched ballistic missiles at its neighbors and then to defend that point cite a story involving conventional artillery. They are not remotely the same thing.

what I am suggesting goes much further than aggression.

No kidding. Are you by chance an English speaker? There is no such thing as going "much further than aggression". An invasion of DPRK and regime change is still aggression. So you are calling for aggression, you're just pompously thumping your chest while calling for it. Unfortunately, your constant misrepresentation of facts makes it likely your aggression will make problems worse for everyone.

I think we are clear now.

Its funny that you say that as though our disagreement was my not understanding what you want, when the contention has always been your dishonest characterizations of the situation.

Some people want a war because it makes them feel tough to watch other people fight them. Some people want a war because they haven't thought through the real costs (or have thought through how to make the people who fight it bear the costs) while hoping to reap material benefits later. Some people, like Trump-whisperer Bannon, want a war because they have a twisted-up notion that wars are good.

If you don't want to be in one of those groups, you need to use war very sparingly, as a precision instrument. You need to rationally think things through, and that means you need to not spout lies and deceit to get your way.

Description of missile. Never Before Seen Missile, Capable of reaching IuSA and Europe. US missile experts said shivering. It is obvious that ÎSis many years behind on technology.

What concerns most is the belief that nuclear weapons in the hands of a dictator, a cult of personality

That's how I feel about Trump having the nuclear codes. It scares the hell out of me.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I am not sure what is reasonable or not plays any part in the process. If viewed from a position of risk. This was the theory behind halting the proliferation of nuclear weapons. The philosophy of,do as I say, don't do as I do. What concerns most is the belief that nuclear weapons in the hands of a dictator, a cult of personality, that military display was a tad unnerving to say the least, especially so for the US, and certainly a step to far, hence the Trump armada.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

However we both know that the US, or for that matter Russia, China, UK, France etc etc will not relinquish there nuclear weapons.

Then it's unreasonable to expect that N. Korea would do so.

It is a another debating topic to weld the hypocrisy stick at western governments and right so.

It's an entirely valid point from unbiased outsiders.

My concern is that Kim Jong-Un developed his nuclear capability not as a deterrent but as a credible option.

And logic would dictate that Kim is not going to fire them off, as the only logical result of such an action would be his loss of power, if not freedom and/or life.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

There is not room for complacency. I do not under estimate Kim Jong-Un, I believe every threat he makes, I am not so convinced by President Trump though. Trump is unpredictable, untried and some would venture unstable. However we both know that the US, or for that matter Russia, China, UK, France etc etc will not relinquish there nuclear weapons.

All will play no part in the show of force over the coming days. It is a another debating topic to weld the hypocrisy stick at western governments and right so. I don't think either you, katsu78, or I will agree on for that matter change each other opinion.

I posted that Guardian article as background, to highlight the acceleration of grievance, and the steady deterioration of any diplomatic solution. My concern is that Kim Jong-Un developed his nuclear capability not as a deterrent but as a credible option.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

You are frightened of Kim Jong-Un

Kim is what he is. He's a dictator of a small nation, and acts like one. What's scary is people who have an ego so big that they think his sabre rattling is justification for war. Kim is like the little poodle who thinks he is a German Sheppard - he runs around yapping like he's tough, but anyone with half a brain can see he's not.

Why are you so defensive of North Korea?

I don't read Katsu's comments to be any more defensive of N. Korea than my own. The point we are making is that Kim's sabre rattling is not justification for war.

North Korean artillery hits South Korean island‎....Two SK Marines reported as casualties subsequently died of there injuries along with one civilian. That won't matter to you because as far as you are concerned North Korea is not to blame.

North Korea: a deadly attack, a counter-strike – now Koreans hold their breath

I have no idea what you are supposedly quoting here, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that what you write is accurate - and yet, do you see the S. Koreans calling for war with N. Korea? As the supposedly aggrieved party, should we not let them determine what they think an appropriate response is?

am demanding that Kim Jong Un capability to launch nuclear missiles at Japan and the US be terminated forthwith.

Then the US should lead by example, and give up their nuclear weapons. Calling for the other party to do so first is hypocritical.

lets be honest Kim Jong Un had the opportunity to change course and obey UN resolutions.

And he chose not to. Remember, the US has also ignored the UN - and destroyed Iraq as a result, an action that destabilized Iraq and Syria, and led to the existence of ISIS. So the US has no place to criticize other countries for ignoring the UN.

The issue is Kim Jong Un has picked a fight with a foe as belligerent he and is now in a corner.

The Kim dynasty has been in a corner for decades. There are sanctions on them, and the closest thing they have to a friend in China. There is no reason why this state of events cannot go on. Stepping in and kicking the chihuahua isn't going to help anyone - especially when it really hurts if that chihuahua bites you.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

You are frightened of Kim Jong-Un, katsu78, and that makes you are angry with my comments. It also explains why you are looking for any and every excuse to appease Kim Jong-Un behavior. It is understandable. Why are you so defensive of North Korea? My I inquire if you have relatives in North Korea? I am sorry if you do.

North Korean artillery hits South Korean island‎....Two SK Marines reported as casualties subsequently died of there injuries along with one civilian. That won't matter to you because as far as you are concerned North Korea is not to blame.

North Korea: a deadly attack, a counter-strike – now Koreans hold their breath

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/nov/23/north-south-korea-crisis-conflict

Look so you don't misunderstand, what I am suggesting goes much further than aggression. I don't do appeasement katsu78, when that carrier strike group reaches operational readiness, quote I am demanding that Kim Jong Un capability to launch nuclear missiles at Japan and the US be terminated forthwith. Use whatever force is necessary to remove both Kim Jong Un and his ability to threaten US, South Korea, or Japan with ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads. I think we are clear now.

What are you advocating Strangerland, is a form of conscientious objection, one action cancelling out another. lets be honest Kim Jong Un had the opportunity to change course and obey UN resolutions. The issue is Kim Jong Un has picked a fight with a foe as belligerent he and is now in a corner.

itsonlyrocknrollAPR. 15, 2017 - 11:41PM JST The only blatant act of provocation that has ended in intentional loss of lives has been instigated by North Korea. It is Kim Jong-Un launching the missiles.

Citation needed. While North Korea has definitely caused international casualties through the mines against South Korean ships, there is no evidence that a North Korean ballistic missile has harmed even a single non-combatant. You need to quit making things up.

It is also Kim Jong-Un in today's appalling and repulsively wallowing display of every conceivable weapon of war, both conventional and nuclear, with the usual accompanying blood curdling rhetoric.

Weapons the US already wallowed in.

I have no proof or evidence,

Of course you don't. Pity you don't think that has any bearing on the quality of your argument.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The only blatant act of provocation that has ended in intentional loss of lives has been instigated by North Korea.

The US bombed and killed 18 allied fighters just the other day. The US has drone attacked wedding parties and hospitals. North Korea are not the only one's guilty of this by any means.

Kim Jong-Un is developing and testing nuclear warheads to attach to the end of the ballistic missiles he has been test firing at Japan.

And the US has been developing and testing the MOAB which they dropped on Afghanistan.

It is also Kim Jong-Un in today's appalling and repulsively wallowing display of every conceivable weapon of war, both conventional and nuclear, with the usual accompanying blood curdling rhetoric.

The US has a much wider arsenal than North Korea, and Trump has been spouting blood curdling rhetoric.

I could keep going on, but the point is that if you look at it from a non-biased perspective, all the accusations made can equally be made about the US.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Nato has been carrying out war games and exercises since its inception, as has Russia and in its heyday, the Soviet Union. The Government of China as well as Japan sail back and forth blasting away at some imaginary foe, whenever the urge takes them. Never has a single missile ever been launched by US, Japan, or South Korea in anger at North Korea.

The only blatant act of provocation that has ended in intentional loss of lives has been instigated by North Korea. It is Kim Jong-Un launching the missiles. Kim Jong-Un is developing and testing nuclear warheads to attach to the end of the ballistic missiles he has been test firing at Japan. It is also Kim Jong-Un in today's appalling and repulsively wallowing display of every conceivable weapon of war, both conventional and nuclear, with the usual accompanying blood curdling rhetoric. Ever more sinister and nerve raking, because being wheeled out is a range of ICBM's that if proven so, can reach the US mainland. Japan is a sitting duck holding a peashooter in comparison.

Astonishingly its US, South Korea, and Japan fault all along, for carrying out war games in direct response to Kim Jong-Un constant threats. We all now have to kowtow to Kim Jong-Un to appease him.

No, the die is cast, the response, (I mistakenly wrote responsible in my last comment in haste) has to effectively bring about a solution that parts Kim Jong-Un from his ability to threaten nuclear blackmail/stalemate. Strangerland, for goodness sake, one doesn't stand in front of a runaway train and hope it doesn't run you over before it stops. I do not want war, I have everything to lose, my family here for one.

The question remains Kim Jong-Un will sooner or later attack one or more neighbouring countries. what sense or reasoning lurks in that mass about his shoulders would take Sigmund Freud a lifetime to psychoanalyse. My opinion, there is not time like the present. I am beginning to wonder what part the Government of China is about to play? My cynical mind is sensing a deal has been struck with President Trump.

I have no proof or evidence, just the telltale signs of doggy deals at play. 150,000 troops massing on China - NK boarder supposedly to provide humanitarian aid for the influx of refugees. With Kim Jong-Un out the way the whole geopolitical restructure of the region is up for grabs

itsonlyrocknrollAPR. 15, 2017 - 09:03PM JST katsu78, Kim Jong Un has test fired on some eighteen occasions missiles many falling into the sea of Japan or overshooting the mainland.

So if you want to say that that is a provocation, you should probably make your military action in reaction to that - not the completely separate issue of North Korea's nuclear developments.

Kim Jong Un is actively testing and developing a nuclear warhead capable of attaching to the end of either a Intercontinental long-range or medium-range ballistic missile to attack both Japan and US mainland which will wreak devastation on a scale unseen in human history. Why should either Japan or the United States wait to be proved either way?

Japan can react how Japan wishes, but given that the US has developed far more dangerous nuclear weapons it is hypocritical to say North Korea's hypothetical nukes are in an of themselves a provocation.

Kim Jong Un has been afforded every opportunity come to an air his grievances and choice a peaceful settlement

This is a meaningless, empty statement. Given that the Korean War is not technically over, no, they haven't.

I am not proposing a aggressive responsible,

That's exactly what you're doing. You're twisting the facts to paint a deceptive view of the situation that says the US has no choice but to respond with aggression to DPRK's tests. That's some weaksauce cowardly BS.

If you want to say North Korea somehow doesn't have the sovereign right to develop the same nuclear weapons that half a dozen other countries around the world have developed, have the courage to own it. Don't go around pretending that the US has to respond with violence and somehow DPRK is forcing the rest of the world's hand. If you think you have the moral high ground, claim it, don't sit around blaming other countries for your choice to support pre-emptive violence.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Kim Jong Un has test fired on some eighteen occasions missiles many falling into the sea of Japan or overshooting the mainland. This is what I define as blatant provocation.

The US and S. Korea hold joint war-games off the coast of N. Korea - is this not also blatant provocation?

Let's be clear, I don't have any love whatsoever for N. Korea nor the Kim dynasty. But I find it hypocritical to criticize them for doing what is being done to them, and I find it ridiculous to blame N. Korea for putting together a defense when they are a tiny country with a huge enemy like America on the other side.

Why should either Japan or the United States wait to be proved either way?

Because until N. Korea actually attacks America or Japan, they haven't attacked America or Japan. Therefore if America or Japan attack N. Korea, they will actually be the ones in the wrong.

Kim Jong Un has been afforded every opportunity come to an air his grievances and choice a peaceful settlement. By Kim Jong Un own aggressive actions and language he has deliberately turned down any attempt of reconciliation.

And maybe he doesn't want to reconcile. That's not justification for war.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

So why wouldn't the U.S. do this?

Shhhhh. Joe, you just might enlighten some people here!!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

There recently been held a drill to evacuate troops and their families from SK after a chemical strike.

NK can still perform a new nuke test anytime, they often do so early mornings.

Doubt that kim is cowering in fear from the once mighty USA.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

itsonlyrocknrollAPR. 15, 2017 - 05:46PM JST No sane person wants war, Kim Jong-un has brought this upon himself and his country. I believe every threat, to appease is out of the question.

What a funny example of propaganda. "To appease" suggests DPRK testing a nuclear weapon is a form of aggression. While certainly a nuclear-armed Korea is opposed by just about every stake-holder in this situation apart from DPRK, it's not actually in and of itself an attack.

In effect you're casting an aggressive response to what is an internal matter to Korea as the only possible response. Which is how wars get started.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Nothing is going to happen in the foreseeable future. As long as the Pentagon does not order the evacuation of American military dependents from bases in South Korea, nothing is going to happen. When they start evacuating dependents from South Korea, then it is time to worry a little. When they start evacuating dependents from mainland Japan, time to worry a lot. When they start to evacuate dependents from down south here in Okinawa, it's time to buy lots of wine and beer before it is vaporized. No, but seriously, I think at the very most the U.S. may take out some of their missiles but an all out war tomorrow, not likely. Still, dangerous but I will sleep peacefully tonight. Peace everyone.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

IMO, the USA should not conduct any military actions without first consulting at least South Korea. If a military strike is made against NK, it is not much of a stretch to expect their artillery to intentionally kill many SK civilians. If SK OKs that scenario, then so be it, but I do not think that that is what they want. I think that the South is willing to wait, and hope the day comes when the North Koreans themselves overthrow the dictator making their lives miserable.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

No sane person wants war, Kim Jong-un has brought this upon himself and his country. I believe every threat, to appease is out of the question.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The headline to this article could easily read: U.S. ready for war if Kim wants it." Will Kim explode another nuclear device or launch more missiles during his current celebrations? If he does, look out ... boom! If not, it will indicate that he folded under pressure of a possible U.S. attack. An interesting few days lie ahead of us ...

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Only the insane want war. Only idiots think they're ready for it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

As much as I dislike Trump, the NK issue was always going to come to a head at some point. NK has got away with these aggressive threats for far too long so the time has come to call their bluff. Even if they do fire any more missiles in the direction of Japan, then South Korea or the Carl Vinson or Japan will be able to intercept them. That's what their defense systems are designed to do and with computer technology these days it should be relatively straightforward.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Trump or no Trump, is it not the case that Kim Jong-un loathing and hatred of Japan and everything it stand for all is so all consuming that it is only a question of time before he snaps and launches an attack?

Only the complete destruction and prevention of Kim Jong-un capacity to develop and manufacture nuclear weapons will safe guard Japan future and ultimately that of the US. If any good will come of this, is the realization that only the total irradiation of all nuclear weapons will be enough to put people minds at rest. Foolishly naive wishful thinking.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

The last thing we all need is for these two idiots to get into a p!ssing contest.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Let's see how Trump will "take care of North Korea."

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"You voted for it, bumpkins.

When China is the voice of sanity in any situation, you know we have problems."

Donald Trump is a gift to every undemocratic authoritarian regime on the planet. Tell the people this is what elections can bring forth and ask them to reconsider the idea of democracy.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

The article reads: "Tensions between Pyongyang and Washington go back to President Harry Truman and the 1950-53 Korean War, ..." Just for the record, North Korea precipitated the war by sending forces into the south in June, 1950. They were well-equipped by the Soviets and had a friend in Mao's China. And they nearly won. They have no chance of winning now and every chance of losing. I really doubt that it will be the North Koreans who start a war.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Not even six months in power, and we are headed towards Armageddon at light speed.

You voted for it, bumpkins.

When China is the voice of sanity in any situation, you know we have problems.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Just put Trump and Kim in a cage to a fight to the death. No need to senselessly kill any innocents here. Let the two children fight each other hand to hand.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Well, personally I don't mind ending NK. Not by nukes or bombing to hell. But by destroying any military capabilities they have. China already wants to keep any NK refugee's from their country, but I'm going to be ticked if they try to invade NK once the US and hopefully SK try to eliminate Kim's regime.

As I have said before, rip it off quick like a Band-Aid. Free North Korea from Kim and cronies. Then try to stabilize Korea as a whole (which is actually the biggest challenge). But then again, Trump is about 'Murica first will probably just trash it, and won't try to fix the damage afterwards, which would make the US look even worse than what we're currently in.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

US sailors in San Diego and marines in Camp. Pendleton will be in Asia. So, maybe war very soon. Which country is ready? I mean tested ICBM.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yes. Trumps wants it. He'd like nothing better. If NK doesn't wise up to this fact real fast and change track they're history. There will be blood.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Not at all. But you would hope that America would be a little more adult about the situation than North Korea.

That's kind of what I am saying. Given the calibre of the chap with his finger on the trigger now in the White House, North Korea need to consider him extremely dangerous, and tone it back a bit. To be a little circumspect.

But if they go ahead and test something this weekend, or in the near future, they are simply being provocative, which is plain dumb.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

A U.S. State Department official said later Friday the U.S. was aligning “all elements of national power” to get North Korea to abandon its nuclear and missile programs.

As much as I would like to see a nuclear weapons & missile-free NK I think it's unrealistic to expect them to disarm, not in today's international political climate I mean. Why would they? Don't even think China or the UN could negotiate some kind of 'genuine commitment' to do so (i.e disarm) in exchange for $, supplies, medicines or anything else. Been tried, didn't work. They know a weak, unarmed NK would mean the end of the nation as we know it.

Let's face it, NK's relations with the rest of the world can not be normalized with the current regime and am afraid the current NK-USA/West standoff is realistically the 'least bad' scenario for now.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

North Korea are hardly helping the situation, are they?

Not at all. But you would hope that America would be a little more adult about the situation than North Korea.

You would hope...

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

North Korea are hardly helping the situation, are they?

Their endless provocations, hyperbole and BS are half the reason we are here, and very, very poor policy in the current socio-political climate.

You have to be able to read the play.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Unpopular Republican president and administration in it's infancy bangs the drum for war to distract attention from his dismal approval ratings. Where have we seen this before?

Maybe it's a distraction from the Russians and their meddling. Maybe orange grandpa is insane.

Perhaps when you've had more than everything you wanted all your life and are in your twilight you can justify playing this kind of poker.

The rest of us will just have to watch the madness unfold.

The Republican party is insane.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

The real danger is that neither Trump or Kim are mentally stable.

Yup. This is it in a nutshell. I look at the reactions from Russia, Syria and Iran re the American strike on Syria last week and they are absolutely standing firm without over-reacting. Regardless of who you think are the good guys, they are acting in a manner that is appropriate. Complete contrast to the actions of America in recent days
