What options are there?

1) Doing the same thing we've been doing for 60 years

2) Going to war

1 seems the better option.

Only from within North Korea this "system" can be finished

I agree. War will not fix this problem.

Nothing's going to change unless China steps in.

Any military action against NK will trigger an all-out war; this is not the Middle East, where "messages" can be delivered by Tomahawk. Hopes that China will be able to resolve Kim's nuclear weapon/ballistic missile dreams by restricting trade are dim at best: The NK regime exists for the sole purpose of perpetuating itself, and these programs are as essential to this as oxygen (not to mention China's split interests on the issue). Every president since Bush Sr. has run into the same conundrum, and all have resorted to simply kicking the can down the road. Policy-wise, I'm afraid I am at an impasse over whether ripping off the bandaid now or allowing the underlying wound to fester is best. It's a hell of a decision. All I can say is that I wish that decision were not up to Trump, and I worry for those who live in Seoul.

How many people involved with the failed launch are going to be executed?

Just can't stop laughing at North Korea.

And he keeps on going, violating every and any UN sanction.

how can he violate a sanction

Clowns. Well, well. A blunder missile launch on the 105th anniversary of Chubsy Ubsie's gramp's birthday. Might see a few hundred heads on sticks for this. NK - what a wonderful place.

Gee, kind of like Irsrael.

Who on earth are 'we'?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

the failure will sting in Pyongyang because it comes a day after one of the biggest North Korean propaganda events of the year

Instant karma time.

Is North Korea the only country to ignore the UN? Did not the US ignore the World Court, then a UN Security Council proposition calling on all states to abide by International Laws, re it's aggression against Nicaragua? How many UN resolutions has Israel snubbed it's nose at? And Suharto, re East Timor 1975-1999? Where is the criticism of those 'Rogue States'?

It was shot near N Korea and Pentagon experts stated that it was more like targeting submarines. Trump? As usually in Florida ignoring news. Not long range test. S Korea stated. a lot more than Pentagon analyst. China is quiet yet. S is Japan. Also other Asian countries are quiet. Only Pence arrival of S Korea was reported saying there is no government where is visiting. I think Trump's aides now knows Seoul is not in N Korea.

Meanwhile, the poor North Korean people continue their daily suffering...

But North Koreans seem to be proud that its leader outsmarting strong America. China is not liking, Xi might be analyzing all of Trump comments carefully.

Maybe it's Karma. Maybe we hacked the launch, Maybe China did. Keep doing what we've been doing for the last 60 years? We know what North Korea will do in the NEXT 60 years. Fear of War is a rational response for all people, and NK plays on this fear to get away with doing whatever they wish.

Or maybe there isn't that big of a threat to begin with, unless they're being continually provoked.

Fear of War is a rational response for all people, and NK plays on this fear to get away with doing whatever they wish.

Praise of war is an irrational characteristic for people, and the US and their media continues to do it, for business and a false sense of strength.

Provoked? What country has been saying they would invade North Korea? Or turn their cities into a sea of fire? Or blood. Or whatever? It is North Korea that, since 1953 has maintained a "State of War" mentality and has constantly provoked South Korea threats and even actual killings. South Korea and US conduct exercises in preparation to respond to those threats.

Nobody "praises" war. And US strength is a far cry from "false" strength.

China is not for war. It may convince Kim to make N Korea an industrial nation. Why not? Japan does not mind peace.

Sunday’s missile exploded on launch

The north has the exploding part right.

Hope they do not get the rest right.

Provoked? What country has been saying they would invade North Korea?

As if provoking is only equal to threatening to invade. Why won't you mention that the US is thinking of preemptively striking NK, or the fact that for decades, the US military has been just outside their doorstep for decades now? All the military exercises, bombers, and missile deployment.

Nobody "praises" war. And US strength is a far cry from "false" strength.

Yeah, maybe the one time you missed watching FOX News?... where MOAB = Freedom YEAHH Call of Duty! Murica!! Btw, I said a "false sense of strength", in the context of thinking your global military makes you strong. That's what the ancient Romans thought. Trying to find conflict to solve conflicts. It ends up just being a huge waste of resources and more enemies. Just think about all the money that's being used by the US just to react to NK....while other countries are silently just watching you waste it all away.

love this Kim why wernt you on it.

They have to be prepared - North Korea had already surprise-attacked South Korea

Same ol same ol. Until you can't sleep at night because all the 60 years of planning and missile development come crashing down into your bedroom. You do still want to wake up and smell the roses, don't you?
