If this is true and Kim does allow random checks and verification of all Nuclear sites at random it would really show commitment and sincerity as well as seriousness on their part. We shall see.

Not the first time that NK STATE MEDIA has stated something to that effect... and lied.

Personally, I’ll wait for the UN site inspections.

Thank you Kim Jong Un. But "denuclearization" doesn't mean just stopping testing of nuclear weapons and missiles. Something that NK would do anyway until the US/NK discussions bear fruit. And something that NK can resume at any time. It means the verified elimination of existing nuclear weapons. Pressure will and should continue in all respects until that is achieved.

"North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has announced Pyongyang will carry out no more nuclear or intercontinental ballistic missile tests and will shut down its atomic test site, the North's state media reported Saturday." Hope this is true, just find it hard to believe, considering this is his grandfathers and fathers dream. Smells fishy to me.

p.s Really hope im wrong.

Newsflash: Our problems with N. Korea are not just about nuclear weapons, they are about their gross human rights violations, their repressive regime, and their refusal to abide by international law. The whole point of pursuing nuclear weapons in the first place was to gain international credibility without becoming a civilized nation.

They agreed upon that America will guarantee the Kim regime and his crime and murders will not be questioned.

A big thank you to our President Trump and his team as well as President Moon for making something that was only a wild dream actually at least possible to happen.

Potentially really really good news, and I would like to be an optimist ie give DPRK some breathing space. Congratulations to them on these first new step! Good luck and 頑張れ!^_^

(‘nuff said)

Step = steps!

my advice to Kim keep some nukes a stockpile of missiles and all your artillery for defense,

don't trust USA or Japan too much.

before talking about the dozen or so Japan has abducted, sell all your prisoners

to benevolent nations for resettlement overseas they are a drain on your economy,

all the sadistic prison guards must be brought to justice, let me project manage the opening

of casinos, tourism and exotic dance clubs that will generate new sources of money.

A good first step, but seeing as there haven’t been tests in over 6 months anyway, a bit shallow and entirely symbolic.

"As the development of nuclear weapons has been verified, it is not necessary for us to conduct any more nuclear tests or test launches of mid- and long range missiles or ICBMs," Kim told a ruling party meeting.

Umm, nowhere in that statement does Kim mention anything about eventually getting rid of these weapons, nor does he mention anything about allowing full access to weapons inspectors in the future.

All he infers is that since the development and previous testing of nuclear weapons were verified, it's no longer necessary to conduct nuclear tests or test missile launches. Meaning, testing is done and the weapons both nuclear and missile appear to be working, so no need for any additional testing. BUT, we'll still keep those weapons on hand as needed.

The devil is in the details, indeed.

Some conditions must have been met,NK might be a crazy country but they are not fools, they might simply be playing a game of faces.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

And when Trump pulls out of the unfruitful negotiations, Kim will renege on this.

These two are peas in a pod. And the only ones who don't notice are their brainwashed fanboys.

In other words, "our people are starved, let's try and lie or way around these pesky sanctions". Fool me once....

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Thank you President Trump! Continue to do what you do!

Israel's plan is working, and they get an American embassy in Jerusalem to boot.

The undertones of that statement just didn’t sound good at all.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I predict Kim will get exactly what he wants.

He will keep his weapons, agreeing only to limits. The sanctions will be mostly lifted. His security to run NK the way he wants will be quaranteed. He will even improve conditions in NK.

I think he played his hand perfectly. The little bastard.

Of course Trump might insist on having the weapons. Then all bets are off.

“The process could take longer than Trump term in office.”

Indeed. The the 2018 World Series could take longer than that.

now focus on the development of the socialist economy

Hahaha - then it’s game over.

Please show Japan how to develop a socialist economy successfully once you’re done.

Nah I think North Korea will be resolved one way or another before January 2025 when Trump leaves office with the Nobel Prize in hand.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I wish it was true.

but there are several hidden scenarios.

1- (optimistic scenario) they actually run out of money and resources and really at the bring of collapse so they gave up their pursue of power and trying to turn to more peaceful solution and try to restore their economy.

2- more realistic one, he is lying and trying to gain some time and more sympathy from the world so once he says we are abandoning our nuclear program US may lift some of their sanctions so they can resupply on resources and money and continue their program after few months brake.

3- (pessimistic scenario) they are saying that we will not try anything anymore. just so the US and his allies drop their guard little bit and actually they are preparing for attack. they might sucker punch the rest of the world and gain some advantage on us.

I suspect he is done with testing, and during talks he will say they are officially a nuclear power.

when Trump leaves office with the Nobel Prize in hand.

Obama won the prize so maybe he should get the credit.

I think King Kong Um has better chances of wining the nobel peace prize than the committee awarding it to The Donald.

he appears to be shrewd rather than insane

These North Koreans have never been insane, they just have a military regime in power and that regime doesn’t want there to be reasons for its existence to be questioned.

Come back in ten years and I expect the military regime will still be around and still threatening others with weapons; all just a pretense to have the military regime continue to exist.
