taking Trump's cue with thinly veiled attacks on race and religion.

aka dog whistling. Anyone whose first language is English, has even the tiniest ability to reason for themselves, is willing and able to think objectively and is marginally literate (even those who are 'poorly educated') can recognize when English is being used to denigrate 'others' and who the 'others' include.

Republicans acknowledge the risk of taking the rhetoric too far

With some Trump supporters, perhaps. But with others the rhetoric can't be too nasty. Especially when 'foreign' trolls are paid to throw more fuel on fires. Look at 8chan etc. And if Trump/Barr etal won't support intelligence agencies in their efforts to limit 'foreign' interference, look for even uglier nastiness.

I am not a fan of the members of 'The Squad', especially AOC and Omar, but this tactic sounds like it could go the way of Hillary and 'deplorable'.

Of course the GOP is going after these four women, it had to whip up ignorance-driven fear amongst conservatives. The GOP has successfully played in its voters stupidity and intellectual laziness to label these for socialists. We all know socialists are the GOP's new boogeymen.

The best part about not being a conservative is thinking for yourself.

Oh and before anybody misunderstands that, I mean it could backfire.

All I have is an American voice. I don't want to subscribe to any affiliations and ideologies based on race, gender and sexual orientation

As an American, I've never understood what an 'American voice' would sound like. But in 'listening' to Trump supporters I think I can usually 'hear' what 'affiliations and ideologies' they probably have, and imagine what their 'race, gender and sexual orientation' is.

330,000,000 Americans. Each an individual. Full spectrum covered. One citizen no more or less 'American' than any other. 'Americans' bashing their country for any reason are no more or less 'American' than those with polar opposite views or anyone in-between.

Included in the 'Americans' are the bifurcators pushing their messages individuals can only be an A or a Z.

What's wrong with white folks

Now that sounds like Repub Congressman Steve King - I assume you agree with his statement that the term white supremacy is not offensive?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@bas4fSorry, we don’t own the race card

Yawn. Then why is the alt right term 'the race card' used so often by Trump supporters? If you're defensive about being perceived as being overly 'ethnocentric', I'll take that as a positive. At least there's recognition that being overly 'ethnocentric' is a problem. And the first step in treating a problem like being overly 'ethnocentric' is to recognize there's a problem. Knock wood recovery ahead. For the sake of the country. Personal and institutional 'over-ethnocentrism' has for too long caused serious problems. Trump's supporters (in the US and 'abroad') pushing alt right agendas in attempts to further divide the nation are making things worse. For ALL Americans.

Desperate attempts by racist GOP, since its clear Donny mental faculties(whatever little was there) are in obvious decline,

His performance while launching the space command was pathetic, made me feel sorry for him.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

For all of Biden’s gaffes he didn’t think there were airports during the civil war, it takes a special kind of dimwit to say such a thing.

No, far worse. He makes up stories out of thin are about missions that never occurred. Anyway, this is his third and last attempt and it will fail like the last 2. Now I see why his former boss didn’t endorse him.

Donny is used to that, he was the biggest loser in America during the 1990s, once we get his tax returns we’ll know he has continued his streak.

Yeah, but in reality no. The man beat the odds, came back stronger, had a hit TV show for 14 years, runs for President, beats 16 establishment Republicans, beat the former First Lady, beat Mueller and his band of merrily and angry Democrat lawyers, all 19 of them, 40 FBI agents made the Presidency, not bad for a loser, but funny how on TV the real losers try so hard and still can’t get him. Lol

Well he sure has a stomach for humiliation, he’s had a lot of practice.

Oh, you know what they say about sticks and stones.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The strategy worked with Hillary. I can see why they would use it again. It will be interesting to see how it works in the current landscape. The youth may actually get riled up enough to vote.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The strategy worked with Hillary.

If you mean it worked for the Republicans, then yes, the strategy worked great. For Hillary's campaign, not so much.

I mean, if you're neck and neck, don't alienate the people that could help you overtake the competition. Hillary thought name calling people that didn't support her was the smart thing to do...

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Now that sounds like Repub Congressman Steve King - I assume you agree with his statement that the term white supremacy is not offensive?

Do you think it's bad to be white? Is your answer to racism reverse racism?

You made your statement first, and I asked my question first - so please be courteous enough to answer - do you agree with Rep King that the term "white supremacy" is not offensive?

@serranoThe Squad is simply going to pad Trump's landslide 2020 re-election.

Y'all whistlin' past the graveyard again?

If the GOP and their backers in the US and 'outside the country' focus their attacks on the four US representatives, their messages might once again reach the 'overly ethnocentric' and misogynistic members of Trump's base. But their messages could just as easily backfire. Many Americans are tired of Trump and his supporters in the US and 'abroad' efforts to further divide the country.

One worry I have is Trump/Barr etal will not provide the resources that would allow intelligence agencies to limit 'foreign meddling' in US elections and politics. I don't want to once again read posters on this site parroting the messages sent by members of the Internet Research Agency, for example 'Hillary's going to start WW3'. hee hee

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@serrano We're never going to give her the chance, Pete.

'We'? You and the Internet Research Agency? Other GRU organizations? The global alt right?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

As much as i don't like the Republican party (not the biggest fan of the "Squad" either) you gotta give it to them. If there's anybody who knows how to insult the opposing side it's the Republicans. On the outside i know they seem like a bunch of stupid close minded rednecks but that's the point. Being manipulative and calculating has always been the Republicans' sthick and it's worked for the most part. Especially when there's a certain fear of a certain group within a certain culture in the USA. "Be proud of your enemy and enjoy his success"

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Squad is an embarrassment to the U.S. I sincerely hope all four of them are voted out in 2020 along with Pelosi, Schiff, Waters and a bunch of other Democrat lunatics as well as the RINOS.

It’s all downhill for Diapers Donny from here.

Struggling through a simple speech.

Then revealing classified pictures.

Finally his trusted aide revealing what a disjointed family he has.

He should do himself and the GOP a favor and announce that he is not running for re-election-election.

Otherwise it’s going to be an eternity of humiliation and probably bankruptcy.

It’s all downhill for Diapers Donny from here.

Struggling through a simple speech.

Lol, what’s Biden’s excuse?

Then revealing classified pictures.

Finally his trusted aide revealing what a disjointed family he has.

Hmmmmm....not true she didn’t want to leave, she has a very close relationship with the family, but she was power hungry and quite a few people wanted her gone. Her mistake was, she shouldn’t have gotten drunk and opened her mouth like that. She’s responsible for her own demise.

He should do himself and the GOP a favor and announce that he is not running for re-election-election.

Then he would emulate a liberal in taking a loser position.

Otherwise it’s going to be an eternity of humiliation and probably bankruptcy.

I doubt it, it’s been 3 years and the Dems picked a person that loves to fight. So bring it on. Lol

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Biden is ahead of Trump in a poll by 16%, 54% to Trump's 38% and Buttigeg by 9 points 49% to 40%

Clinton was as well. Mayor Pete won’t get it the WH and Biden is slowly becoming a liability for the Democrats

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Yes he did, living in denial doesn’t make reality disappear.

Not true.

He did host a trashy show with people like Omorosa. It was like ‘who wants to be the dumbest ‘

Yeah and where is Omarosa? Lol

That humiliation will never hurt Donny!!! I do agree

Now we’re getting somewhere.

The GOP however can take any more humiliation, they will not recover from being known as Putin’s party.

The Democrats will never recover being known as socialists that equally parlayed with Medvedev in 2011. After the election, I’ll have more flexibility and in 2014 not one mention to the media about Russian interference in our election.

Lisa Mascaro is behind the times. Queen of the swamp, Nancy Pelosi dismantled the "squad" weeks ago. AOC's svengali, Saikat Chakrabarti, has been forced to leave her service, and is under indictment for illegally shuffling campaign funding. No more grand ideas from her. No one can figure out who Ilhan Omar is married too. Ayanna Pressley seems to have disappeared from the media's radar. Rashida Tlaib and Omar still appear together but only to condemn Israel's right to exist.

Why is it that the only people who hear these so-called Republican dog whistles are Democrats, and Hillary worshippers? Who trains them to echo these dog whistle theories?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

No, far worse. He makes up stories out of thin are about missions that never occurred.

Sure so in your view there were airports during the civil war ROFL

Yeah, but in reality no.

Yes he did, living in denial doesn’t make reality disappear. He did host a trashy show with people like Omorosa. It was like ‘who wants to be the dumbest ‘

oh , you know what they stay about sticks and stones.

That humiliation will never hurt Donny!!! I do agree, Putin will give him asylum once the arrest warrants are out in 2021.

The GOP however can take any more humiliation, they will not recover from being known as Putin’s party.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

It should be ‘The GOP cannot take any more humiliation ‘

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Not true.

Totally true.

Yeah and where is Omarosa?

Getting under Donny's skin, so much that he is planning to sue her ROFL.

Now we’re getting somewhere.

So we agree that Donny is shameless , we sure are getting somewhere with that admission.

The Democrats will never recover being known as socialists

Yawn, that statement shows a lack of understanding of that word 'socialism'. But will the GOP recover form fascism?

>

The strategy worked with Hillary. I can see why they would use it again. It will be interesting to see how it works in the current landscape. The youth may actually get riled up enough to vote

I doubt it. For one thing as we watch the slow and impending disintegration of Joe Biden, it is almost impossible to see Bernie beating Trump and Warren would just get crushed and Not to mention with the exception of Biden, the Black and Hispanic vote doesn’t really care or not as enthusiastic for either of them.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

The Squad is simply going to pad Trump's landslide 2020 re-election.

Since Trump became president I have the impression from his tweets and rally outbursts he believes, white people are supreme!

I have no doubt that is true....some examples;

*1973:** The US Department of Justice — under the Nixon administration, out of all administrations — sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to black tenants* blah blah blah

Trump was refusing to rent to anyone on welfare - blacks, whites, whoever. Had to go back over 40 years for that one, didn't we, lincolnman? haha

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

I don't want to once again read posters on this site parroting the messages sent by members of the Internet Research Agency, for example 'Hillary's going to start WW3'.

We're never going to give her the chance, Pete.

Desperate attempts by racist GOP, since its clear Donny mental faculties(whatever little was there) are in obvious decline,

You missed a "the" and two apostrophes there, ulysses. Mental faculties in decline?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Yawn. Then why is the alt right term 'the race card' used so often by Trump supporters?

Because the liberals and Democrats use it all the time and for any grievance no matter how big or small, it’s always because and the excuse is: “you are a racist.” Sorry, but it gets so old. That’s why liberals are losing credibility on the issue.

If you're defensive about being perceived as being overly 'ethnocentric', I'll take that as a positive.

If I were defensive then that would imply guilt and I absolutely have zero reason to feel guilty about anything and that’s what drives liberals crazy, they try and No one is buying it.

At least there's recognition that being overly 'ethnocentric' is a problem. And the first step in treating a problem like being overly 'ethnocentric' is to recognize there's a problem. Knock wood recovery ahead. For the sake of the country.

What? Oh...lol...

Personal and institutional 'over-ethnocentrism' has for too long caused serious problems. Trump's supporters (in the US and 'abroad') pushing alt right agendas

And liberals, far alt left liberals are doing the same to push their socialist agendas through.

in attempts to further divide the nation are making things worse. For ALL Americans.

Sorry, the Democrats did this, from day one they never wanted to work with this President on anything and since that’s the case, a lot of things that should be done and could be done won’t get done.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

As an American, I've never understood what an 'American voice' would sound like. But in 'listening' to Trump supporters I think I can usually 'hear' what 'affiliations and ideologies' they probably have, and imagine what their 'race, gender and sexual orientation' is.

Sorry, we don’t own the race card and beat it to death, I don’t speak for all supporters, but for me, immigration and National Security is a huge issue, race, gender and who you sleep with, I could care less.

330,000,000 Americans. Each an individual. Full spectrum covered. One citizen no more or less 'American' than any other. 'Americans' bashing their country for any reason are no more or less 'American' than those with polar opposite views or anyone in-between.

Yes, and?
