Every nation on earth has a right to sail on this body of water, regardless of what China claims.

Unless we're going to give up the Western Pacific to the Chinese, we've got to sail in these waters. Appeasement of a dictatorship has a well established and well understood series of consequences, all of them leading to more aggression on the part of the dictatorship.

extremely not the truthful posted news" Barack Obama, was a vocal critic of China's increasingly aggressive actions, including the construction of seven man-made islands equipped with troops, hangers, radar and missile stations and three long runways.

If that was true, then China never would have lay claims in the South China Sea almost in its entirety and challenge the U.S. naval supremacy in the western Pacific. Obama was quite the opposite, more like the treacherous Moon from SK to the alliance and to his treatment towards Japan.

The CCP will never relent in its attempts to fabricate ownership of something it doesn't... Starting with China.

Say what you want about the Americans but at least they stand up to the communist bully.

The Chinese occupied islands and atolls in the South China Sea have become very advanced military establishments away from the public eye.

Yes they have. Admiral Harris has stated that the US could take them all out in a matter of minutes if we had to, Without doubt the Chinese PLA understand this and they have no intention of causing a head on collision. But it's the standard Chinese practice of slowly building up a greater and greater presence maximizing regional operational capability enough to get everyone mad at you but not enough to punch you.

I think the statement per se is true. It's just that Obama was a weak leader and all our adversaries knew it. As a President who wanted to leave a legacy as the "Peace President" I suppose it was unavoidable.

America will never attack China directly so it's unlikely those islands and atolls will be taken out in a 100 years let alone a matter of minutes.

Adm Harris said "if we had to". And China will never attack the U.S. directly either, even moreso.

America would never want to go to war with China even over Taiwan. Provided China remains in this part of the world America does not even care enough to do anything much about it.

History does not support your view in that one could just as easily say that China would never want to go to war with the United States, even over Taiwan. China has had close to 70 years to "take back" Taiwan and have failed to do anything other than threaten. Your view that the US does not care ignores the continued existence of the US Taiwan Relations Act and the military support provided to Taiwan. Surely you remember the Taiwan Straits Crisis of 1996.

China will continue to push and push until it squeezes the US out of the Western Pacific. Given America's increasing inability to properly fund it's military due to it's staggering debt, they will eventually succeed.

reality has changed. China has a military pact with Russia so any American war against China will be against Russia too and that's a war it won't be able to win. Unless China actually threatens America nothing will actually happens. The last event America will want is a war.

Ask the last country that had a pact with Russia if they can be relied upon.

Admiral Harris is a military person and not the congress.it don't matter what he say, frankly. China will continue to expand and America will not be able to stop it. The horse has left the barn.

Yes, he is a high raking military officer and what he says matters far more than what you say about the subject. Try not to mix wishful thinking with reality.

Lt. Cmnder. Tim Hawkins is right.

The USN will continue patrolling disputed waters just like in the past 70 years to guarantee peace in the region.

Thus thanks to the mighty USA, China was able to miraculously convert badly eroded and submerged reefs into solid island fortress unimpeded while the Carl Vinson and the 7th Fleet stood guard for 5 long years!

It's obvious that Washington and Beijing are silent partners indeed!

What a da-kine bullshot charade!

Just look at what Washington did to democratic Taiwan ! America not only cut off diplomatic ties with 'ally' ROC in favor of the dictatorship communist PRC but also FORCED and ORDERED Japan to follow suit!

Uncle Sam even kicked Taiwan out of the UN in favor of Communist China!

Another proof?

When China was reclaiming islands in the disputed West Philippine Sea not even a shadow of USN ships sailed by !

When Philippine navy ships confronted PLAN ships inside the Philippines territorial waters , not a single USN ship or even a USAF drone showed support but instead instructed the Philippine navy to disengage!

What a da-kine backstabbing 'ally'!
